Smarts in Milton Keynes

This chippy is genuinely 10/10. I’m from Scotland and have lived in England for 8 years but have never been able to find a chip shop that compares to the ones we have in Scotland, until today. Highly recommend

Really good fish and chips! Quick service even though they were a bit busy. Curry sauce a bit runny for my own liking.

They opened up early for us. Had a small cod and chips. The fish was perfect! Fresh, flaky and non-greasy. Plus the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Definitely going again!

Large cod, cooked while I waited, with a regular portion of chips. Nice crunch to the batter on the fish. Large enough to feed 2 people.

£4.75 for two potatoes fried is seriously taking the pee. Won't be back soon..

Fantastic service, super clean inside. Food was expensive, drinks prices were fair. Good portion size. Limited parking out the front £13 for scampi, cheesy chips, can of drink & a couple of sauces. No meal deals or lunch time menu, so just missed 5 stars.

Just had the best fish and chips from here. I asked if they had any fish with no skin on and they accommodated my request extremely politely and made me a fresh fish. The batter was perfect and chips were so tasty. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning, thank you!!

Chips were undercooked and dry and in no way represented the price charged..sorry smarts, please try harder, i will give you another go.

The service was fantastic, they recommend the small cod and they had cook the large. But they ran out of chips, not a problem. So the large battered sausage was piping hot and the batter was fantastic. The small cod was great with again fantastic batter, both of these were pre cooked and still piping hot. The prices are very competitive to shops around the country. The problem was the chip's because they ran out they rushed the cooking and took them out a little early and they were on the soggy side. I opened just outside the shop so it wasn't steam. But they were edible. So to finish would highly recommend the shop bit to the staff you don't need to rush the cooking for a great product that you have most customers are willing to wait

The wife and I fancied chips as we returned to MK and decided to give this chip shop a trial. We ordered a large chips to share and cannot complain at the portion size or the quality. The member of staff excelled when I asked for alot of salt and vinegar; I find chip shops usual scrimp. Parking outside is limited and parking in the area is on a first come, first served basis and is busy. It's not my favourite chip shop in MK but I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in Stony Stratford.

Excellent food, friendly service and great value. This has got to be one of, if not the best fish & chips in Milton Keynes. The fish is incredibly fresh, the batter is the best I've tasted and the chips are delicious and not soggy! My mum lives 100 miles away and everytime she comes to visit she insists we go here as they have the best savaloys and fish!

On the whole, this is a pretty good chippy, the food is fresh and properly cooked, the premise is clean and the staff are professional and friendly. The prices are reasonable. My only mild gripe is that some choices can be served rather bland such as burgers.

Rare to find a nice fish and chip these days, can't fault it

I’ve visited both at lunchtime and evenings now and impressed with the speed of service and quality of food. Chips are excellent; not oily but hot and crispy. Sausages and fish both very good. Competitively priced and generous portions too. Staff have been bright and cheerful even at the busiest times. Not my local chippy but worth the additional 20 minute round-trip for all of the above reasons.

Smarts Fish & chip shop is a lovely place. Very welcoming staff with great service as well. Happily recommend a fish supper from them any day of the week.

In 2021, it feels like chip shops and Milton Keynes in general are very far behind when it comes to offering up an alternative for people who don’t eat meat. Not even vegans, but vegetarians too. I don’t want to eat a mushy veggie burger and I’d rather not have chips and a pickled onion. Sure, the chips and the service from here are great, but I’m starting to feel a little isolated whenever my family get a takeaway. Please, consider other options for the rest of us!

SMART'S always serve delicious fish and chips. Also, mushy peas, sausages, roast chicken, burgers, pies........ the works. The quality is amongst, if not THE best in Milton Keynes. Well worth travelling for.

Just had hands down the worst fish and chips of my life from this place. Ordered 2 rock and chips and a battered sausage. The 'rock' was 1-3mm in thickness, no central bone, and surrounded by huge amounts of batter to make it seem bigger. It was dry, tasteless, and abysmal value for money. The chips were also dry, although there was a lot of them, presumably to bulk out the meal when you consider the size of the fish. The battered sausage was tiny too. About 7cm long. In short, you would be Smart to go anywhere else.

Superb decent size chips just had a small portion which was enough for 4 people and chips were not swimming in grease like most places in milton keynes lol... sausage was lovely too. Didn't wait too long. People constantly ordering so a good sign. Fairly priced. Nice location. Will come here again.

Smarts at Stony Stratford recently catered for our barn dance. They delivered over 100 portions of food. It was all hot and absolutely delicious. I received lots of comments about how fantastic the food was. Thank you Smarts you were brilliant!

Just popped in 12.30 on a Tuesday was very quiet I asked for large portion of chips and was told they had to be cooked that was fine no rush waited a while got them home there still raw. Surely not that hard to cook chips when there is only 2 customers waiting
