Great atmosphere on a Thursday evening. Friendly staff. Limited menu. I had the Thai burger which was absolutely delicious. The only reason for 4 stars is that the chips were cold and the satay dip was like peanut butter.

This review is mainly for Wing's Diner as we stopped by and ate here while having a day out in our home city of Bristol. We stopped by at Small Bar to purposely have lunch at Wing's Diner. Their food is so flipping amazing. You cannot beat their crispy chicken thigh burgers. Juicy, tender and with a crispy coating to die for. Served with a mound of fries and kimchislaw. Chef Gavin really knows what he is doing and the extra sauces on the side just kicked it up a notch. We hadn't been for a while but used to go every few months... we have missed out. We won't wait very long before we go back again. If you want some dirty fries or the best Chicken burger in town. They also have some vegan options of pulled jackfruit burgers etc. So get to Small Bar and eat at WING'S DINER... wash it down with some great tasting cider or beer from this bar serving small batch, local beers. GREAT FOOD, GREAT DRINKS.

Another visit here and absolutely love the food they serve, it's just great pub food and the fact it's dog friendly makes this place even better.

We always enjoy a drink in this quirky bar. Nice atmosphere, with people eating burgers and street food. Great range of beers and friendly, helpful and informative staff. Great place.

Great little craft beer pub. Very good selection and knowledgeable staff. They even see you a glass. Food looked good too.

Why is this place popular? Has the world collectively lost its tastebuds? I've never had more disgusting beer in my life. You'd be better off drinking washing up water or the contents of your toilet bowl. Oh and they serve it in 2/3 pint measures for reasons I can't fathom. At least 2/3 of a pint of this undrinkable muck is less painful than a whole pint.

Absolute joke of a bar, can’t call themselves a safe space for everyone when the staff are so rude and disrespectful. Would definitely avoid visiting here ever again. Upon going outside to get some fresh air because the place is so damp and unclean, they refuse to let you back in, despite if you’ve paid and have a drink and friends inside. Totally money focused and an absolute disgrace to Bristol.

If you are in the King Street area, small bar is well worth a visit. The choice was great, and some hearty strong ones to quaff. What is not to like?!

Had a day trip to Bristol with the family and dog, so needed to find somewhere we could go with dogs. This place came up and we headed there, a great selection of craft ales and beers, plus some of the best comfort food I've ever had. The service was fantastic and it was absolutely faultless for me.

Like most of the bars on this street it’s excellent and definitely one to include in your pub crawl. Went here with a mate and we tried their 10% cheesecake sour and an red-coloured IPA: good stuff and the food looked nice!

I don’t appreciate my things being swiped from the table by the staff when I leave my table to buy a drink. Also I do not appreciate my food being removed before I have finished !

Great selection of local beers, possibly a little on the pricier side, but hey - this is Bristol. We went as we heard from a friend that they have the best wings in Bristol, and I can confirm this to be true. Definitely the best I've ever had: smothered in delicious sauce with just the right level of heat, but retaining fantastically crispy batter and wonderfully juicy and tender meat inside. I'm not usually that big a fan of wings as you don't often get good quality or quantity of meat, but I was very happy to be proven wrong here. So good. Will definitely return - I've already come back since my first visit, and it was just as brilliant again.

What a great find - the food was really tasty especially the fried chicken and the vegetarian dirty fries which had a good hot kick to them. great choice of beers - but some descriptions would be helpful. staff were welcoming and friendly - both at the bar and with the food.

Served mostly LHG beers but felt grotty . Might as well drink them in the tap. Photos make it look bigger. Food looked ok but general feeling of place was dirty

Stumbled upon this gem after avoiding the carnage of the harborside. Situated in a cobbled street, alongside other historic buildings, this pub offers an extensive amount of beers on tap. The decor inside was a mix of historic and individual with repurposed pallets and Edison lights. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was above & beyond. Currently planning the next trip to bristol with a pub crawl along King Street included!

With so many wonderful pubs in Bristol the only problem is where to start and fit them in. You will find an amazing wide range of craft beers here up to an arresting 15% voltage. Featured in both the Good Beer and Good Pub guides.🇬🇧🇳🇿

Such a good selection of beers and they were all decently priced too. Staff were friendly and the decor was cool. Our only complaint really was that the music kept on wildly changing genre from hardcore punk, to swing, to eighties classics which was a bit weird

Been 3 times now and the fried chicken is out of this world! Portions are generous, great chicken, packed with flavour, definitely the best fried chicken in Bristol. Great selection of different beers and ales, all available to try before you buy, well organised and great service.

Good amount of seating inside and out for a small place! Good selection of beers including sours! Staff were friendly. Quite noisy and difficult to hold a conversation.

Great range of beers, lovely outdoor and indoor space. We just had eaten so couldn't squeeze in any wings, but the reputation and the look of them means we need to have them at some point!

Really liked the Small Bar vibe and they had a great selection of drinks. Would definitely go back, however I felt they could do a bit better on the veg/vegan menu - it felt a little flat in comparison to the extensive meat menu.We had the Korean jackfruit burger and chips which was very good though!

We stumbled upon here whilst looking for food and cannot resist a wing’s place. The portion’s are generous and really good value. I had the chicken dirty fries and they were SO good! A bit of slaw cut through the richness, and we had a side of the peanut satay which was good for dunking.Beers come in schooners, they just lack descriptions of the beers on the board. Definitely recommend!

Tuve las papas fritas coreanas y eran tan ricas! Un poco caliente para mi gusto, pero está bien ya que bebí un montón de esta interesante cerveza híbrida de vino que mamá no estaba bebiendo porque ya estaba demasiado borracha. Las otras cervezas que tomaron también fueron increíbles. . Tantas cosas locales geniales, mucho para elegir. Hicimos nuestro pedido en el teléfono de mamá a través del código qr en la mesa, y la cerveza se entregó súper rápido, ¡lo cual fue bueno ya que bebíamos rápido! Aunque tuvimos que sentarnos en una cabina de osb extraña debido a covid, eso significaba que no había gente mirando desde nuestra mesa. Pero esto no apaga la maravilla que es una barra pequeña y el restaurante de alitas combinado, una hermosa combinación de dulce cerveza artesanal dulce y sabrosa comida frita. Llama cluckin ’aprobada.

Pidió una mesa afuera cuando una quedó libre, solo para ver desde adentro que se entregaron varias mesas a nuevos clientes e incluso al personal en sus descansos.Se acercó al personal y me dijeron que no podíamos cambiar de mesa. Cuando el gerente / supervisor se enteró, nos trasladó afuera inmediatamente.El personal necesita comunicarse más entre sí y pensar en sus clientes.

Nos encanta Small Bar y siempre lo hemos visitado cuando estamos en Bristol. Después de protegernos durante 4 meses, decidimos tener una estancia de 2 noches y fuimos a Small Bar a tomar una cerveza. Estaba tan bien organizado. El gerente (cabello rosado) fue genial y nos hizo sentir. realmente seguro. Cada vez que servía a alguien, se protegía las manos y estaba atenta a las personas que se movían cuando no deberían haberlo hecho. Como de costumbre, la cerveza estaba buena. ¡Pequeño bar bien hecho! !

Este pequeño bar en la parte inferior de la calle King es una pequeña joya y en realidad es un poco tardío, ya que es más grande por dentro de lo que sugiere el exterior. El personal es eficiente y amable, la cerveza es simplemente excelente. ¡Hay disponible una amplia gama de cervezas artesanales excelentemente elaboradas y se debe emplear un cierto grado de autocontrol! Una palabra para los sabios, en que este es un bar sin efectivo con solo tarjetas aceptadas. Si eres un amante de la cerveza o visitas Bristol, esto debe estar en tu lista de cosas que debes hacer. La razón principal para visitar fue para Wings Diner situado dentro de Small Bar. La comida fue sublime. Fui por la comida de 2 piezas. Lozano. No hay otras palabras La señora tenía papas fritas sucias y no podía terminar como más que suficiente. Volveremos a probar una hamburguesa ya que parecían sublimes.

My wife and I have only ever drunk here. We have probably visited it at least half a dozen times or more.We love the shabby chic ambience of the place. There's always been an excellent choice of craft beers on offer whenever we've visited.We've always found the staff to be friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Went here with a few friends before a gig, had the Malaysian chicken burger which was brilliant. The food was just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the wait on food wasn’t too long. Will definitely recommend!!

... I just wish this place wasn’t so expensive compared to other craft beer bars on King Street. They have some really good craft on but the prices, especially for their own brews, could be more competitive.

I was taken here by a friend who already knew I'd love it - we didn't eat as we went for the craft beer selection, which is very good.If memory serves me right this bar serves beer in 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3rds of a pint only - no pints, which I'm actually totally used to as my own hometime craft bar does this. They also know that this keeps the often stronger beers cooler while you drink them.There were some cracking beers on when we went - and we were able to drink outside the front enjoying the busy street scene the Kings Street has.

Myself and a group of my colleagues came here on Friday night to enjoy some craft beer and get a bite to eat. We were here to celebrate our colleague leaving the country and we were hoping that this would be a good place to go! Firstly, we ordered our beers and food at the bar, and the selection of drink is very expansive especially if you are looking for craft beers, IPAs etc. The atmosphere was good so far. After waiting over an hour for the first batch of food to come out of the kitchen, none of our orders had arrived. I then proceeded to ask at the bar how long the food would be and to make sure that we hadn't been forgotten. I was told that I would have my food within 5 minutes. I waited another 15 minutes before I went back to ask again. I was again told that I would have to wait. Just after this a few of my colleagues food came out. I ordered first so I assumed that my food would also come out soon. I was wrong. I waited a little more and asked at the bar again. This time I was assured the food would come soon. Waited a few more minutes.... no food. At this point after having been told lies for the past half an hour or so, I decided to talk to the kitchen staff, who then went on to accuse me or my friends of eating the food. We had not, we had all ordered different stuff. By this time I was getting very frustrated and just wanted to get a refund. I spoke to the general manager who is APPALLING at customer service! Initially he accused us of lying about the wait time, then he checked when we ordered on CCTV and found out we were right, but instead of issuing a refund at this point, he accused us eating the food, which we had not. It then transpired that the staff had given the food to the wrong table. The manager was still refusing to give us a refund or the food and asked us to leave. It took a very long and unpleasant conversation in order to get our rightful refund but I am still bemused as to how this company can still be in operation if this is how people are treated.I have never experienced such terrible service in any restaurant or pub. I know this place is only small, hence the name, but there is no excuse for this type of behaviour from any members of staff that work in the hospitality industry. The staff have no respect for the customers exemplified by the general manager was laughing at us as we complained. Awful experience, would give a lower rating if it was possible.TLDR:Ordered food, waited nearly 2 hours, food didn't come, accused of lying by the general manager who attempted to refuse giving a refund for food/service we didn't receive.

Sorry...really wanted to like this place but "sparkling" cider was flat (and really quite nasty-tasting). In our view, probably best to avoid.

A handful of ciders and a plethora of interesting beers. Would recommend the flight board to taste some unusual stuff, you get 4 thirds, either choose your own or do what we did and be guided by the staff based on your tastes!

This was our final port of call on our beer tour of Bristol and probably the overall favourite of three out of four of the group. They offer a great range of craft beers from a range of breweries, with payment by card only, a growing trend. The perfect venue to bring a great afternoon & evening drinking fine ales in Bristol’s best venues.

We’ve been drinking at small bar for several years now and we LOVE it! This time we decided to try the chicken from Wings Diner! It’s got to be THE best fried chicken I have ever had! Portions are huge, price is outrageously good value and it totally hit the spot!

Amazing chicken, great vibe, and amazing Korean sauce. If you want something tasty, quick and in a great location it’s a must!

I work round the corner one or two days a week, the food is fried chicken with an asian twist and is tasty, different and well put together. Accompanied by a large range of tasty beers that seem to change regularly. The staff are laid back and friendly and there is seating outside as well. It is card only so keep this in mind!

What a fab bar with great ales and perfect food to suit the whole family! They’ve kept the menu simple to ensure all food is top quality and it really is! Great prices as well. Defo give this place a visit you won’t regret it!

The host was communicative with solid travel advice. Provided sleeping bags. We’ll definitely be back

Visité aquí en una tarde soleada de viernes para comer, el bar y el área exterior estaban abarrotados, pero la comida no estaba muy ocupada. Había sido recomendado este lugar por un amigo, así que estaba emocionado de probarlo, ¡no me decepcionó!

Si te gustan las cervezas artesanales, ven aquí. Un montón de grifos, una gran selección de botellas e incluso algunos licores de calidad para aquellos que no son amantes de la cerveza en su grupo. El personal era eficiente, pero un par de ellos realmente se destacaron por estar bien informados e interesados en sus opciones.

I attended Small Bar on Saturday for some food with 2 friends. The standard of food was excellent, we did have a slight problem with one of the meals, a genuine mistake that was handled with brilliant service from the Manager (tall ish female, with curly Red hair) and the Chef who came out to check everything was ok. I would 100% return, because the food was great and service was better.

Small bar is one of the places I strayed away from as it looked heaving from the amount of people outside but having been inside that was a mistake I quickly rectified. The downstairs can get a little cramped but if you can stake out a corner in the upstairs it’s quite a chilled out little place.

Visited whilst on holiday on Bristol. Stumbled across this place almost by accident and we were so glad we did. Great choice of beers and top staff to help you make the right selections. Craft beer fans will love this place.

Went here for lunch on Saturday. Food is amazing! Best chicken I have ever had! My boyfriend who is a vegetarian had the dirty fries and he said they are the best dirty fries he has had. Good choice of beers. Marked it 4 out of 5 as we had our 4 month old baby and there were no changing facilities. I had to change him on one of the seating benches, not really ideal. It's bad enough when there only in the women's toilet but to have nothing at all is not really acceptable.

Had a few hours spare before a gig in Bristol and was recommended Small Bar... it didn't disappoint. Friendly service, busy too inside but not too busy, but lovely bar service and recommendations, plus a poke-type bowl (Poke is the best) for a veggie or meat choice and both.. were exceptional. So much flavour. Something I haven't found in the UK since my trips to the west coast of Canada last year.

Very busy as you would expect for a Friday evening, a huge selection of draught beers. A litttle on the pricey side but there is so much on offer here. We enjoyed the fried chicken, try and see if you can get bigger sides as the gravy comes in tiny cups. Very enjoyable evening.

The thought of that chicken makes me dribble. I don’t know how they do it, but my oh my... you often have to wait a bit to have it on the table. But the wait is worth every bite. I’ll wait hours to get that chicken again. You have to try it to understand. This chicken is cooked with love and passion. Worth 100 stars

Visited while working in Bristol so just a short solo trip. Great range of beer. Very lively pub but still ok to sit in a corner reading. Hope to visit again soon.

The beer is obviously this bar's signature, but the food is deliytoo. Great flavours and really original.

Hands down, the best food in Bristol if you like fried chicken. This place specialises in ales, which I don't drink, but the food is so good that I keep going back, again and again.

What an awesome place, my partner and I were in Bristol for 2 nights on a beer holiday and ended both nights here (in fact I think we were also the last to leave both times, sorry!). On our first night we were greeted by the girl with pink hair and she was so friendly and helpful, gave us some great beer recommendations too we were also served by another girl on both nights who was equally helpful and welcoming definitely my favourite bar in Bristol (out of the ones we found anyway)! The bar itself is put together really nicely, lots of character and not too mention lots of fantastic beers! Including rodenbach on tap Nice one!

Visiting Bristol for partners birthday so went out for a drink. Can only use card in this bar. Had lots of cash to pay, what a load of rubbish! Have money in bank but why on earth does the pub need my bank details? Don’t waste your time unless you are a ‘I don’t carry cash person’! Clear demographic interest! Avoid! Give custom to bars that accept good old cash.

This is a very hip spot to try some amazing beers. At least 15 on tap, there is always something new to try. Good pub grub as well that tends to change month to month. It can get really crowded in the evenings. We like to go off peak times and just enjoy the cozy atmosphere.

Tremendous, cosy beer bar (other drinks are available!). Only takes payment by card (it’s 2018, stop moaning!). Great selection of interesting draft and bottled beers. Handy central location.

Situated on historical King Street where you're spoilt for choice with food and drink diversions, including the brilliant Beer Emporium diagonally over the road, Small Bar is also something very special and not as small as you may think from the name, which refers to small producers and also small servings as the offerings are dispensed in various third, half or two-thirds measures, depending on strength.

Actually it's not anything like as small as you expect, but it is very popular and extremely noisy. But it is popular for all the right reasons. A fantastic (truly impressive) selection of draft beers, with more in bottles and cans if that's not enough. And a chicken restaurant as well. A great place for a very different beer or two and for that reason alone I am sure to return.

The theme here is very clever. But I know realise that the mug is the punter. I paid £3.75 for 2/3 pint of average cider. Then £2.75 for 1/3 pint of beer. Over £7 per pint would be impressive even for London!!

Came here on two occasions this past weekend. First time was Friday afternoon and had the Korean fried wings with blue rice. Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced!! Manager (bald chap with glasses) very friendly and happy to talk us through the local brews, sampling before we bought. Also happy to recommend somewhere to go to watch the football later that evening.

Had the Korean wings, blue garlic rice and spicy peanut sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Staff were friendly. Loved it.

Seriously, this is the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. Don’t like bones? Don’t worry the main chicken bits don’t have any. Like wings? Oh my you won’t eat better. The beer is pretty damn fine too!! Yum! Yum! Yum!

Working on Queen Square I'm well positioned to give Wings Diner at Small Bar a very regular visit - at least once a week. Bristol has quite a competitive burger scene - I'm very pleased to say the fried chicken served here exceeds everywhere I've tried. Delicious, crispy, not too greasy. Try the malaysian fried chicken burger and you'll be back for more.

Visited Wings Diner for the second time as we were at a festival nearby. Parked right outside on a Saturday night and managed to get a table for four immediately.

We went there only for drinking and we noticed that the bar offers a great choice of beers, which changes periodically, and we always found ours! I strongly recommend you to give a try!

visited the pub after frequenting for some years, 2 girls who looked underage pushed in and after we politely pointed this out they were very rude. They obviously knew the little girl behind the bar as she had words with them and then refused to serve us. Laughed in their faces and left as my money will be spent elsewhere. Avoid this place, crap beer and food as my friend from a previous visit was ill after eating the burger.

Okay I'm a real ale fan and this place is absolutely class. Exceptionally knowledgeable staff to match the fantastic beer. Now I love fried chicken and I thought I had had the best in Memphis. I was wrong. The korean chicken wings were ten out of ten and the chicken burger was the best I've ever had.

My friend brought me here one evening as she really loves the dirty fries, and it turned out very tasty! Both Korean sauce and gravy work well with the chicken and fries! The waiting time was a bit too long, 20 mins or so, could be faster I guess :)

Me and my partner visited with a bit of a hangover and it saved our lives! It’s not just hangover food though it was really delicious chicken, the thigh in the burger worked really well and the portions were crazy big! It was a simple but really well cooked menu. The beer from Small bar was also really nice could quite easily sit there and drink the day away...

It seems that every couple of years Small Bar changes its culinary theme. Their hotdogs were great so it was a bold move to change a winning formular and switch to fried chicken. It works though; there's a range of Asian themed topping and sauce options and sides.

Have been here a few times to enjoy a craft beer. They have a great selection available on draft. Will visit again when around!!
