Came here for a boozy brunch with some friends and had the best time. We were served by Brooke and she took great care of us the entire time. Cant recommend this place enough! Will definitely be back soon

Slug and Lettuce George Street, Edinburgh. Had a table booked for 10pm. We arrived early and were allowed to order drinks at the bar prior to our table being ready. Come 10pm and we had to chase down staff for our table (as it was December it was fairly busy and we didn’t want to sit at a table that may have been reserved for someone else). We then tried to order drinks at the second bar, which appears to never be operating, which is bizarre given how busy the first bar is it would allow people to retrieve drinks quicker and take some pressure off other staff in the main bar. Decided to try and order on the app to save hassle of standing in queues, poor signal. Waited in the queue and ordered a cocktail tree, waited around 30/40 minutes for this to arrive after we had to chase staff for it again on three separate occasions. Overall, drinks are nice but unless you want to wait forever on one I would go elsewhere.

Came for the bottomless brunch with a friend and was disappointed with the food however the drinks were nice. When we arrived we were shown to our table by a very attentive waitress however the table was unfortunately the worst in the restaurant as it was right next to the entrance door which meant people were walking in and out every 5 minutes, often leaving the door open which gave a freezing breeze straight towards us and we had to keep getting up to close the door. Our cocktails were all very nice however the food was very disappointing, I had the festive eggs Benedict and the muffin was absolutely solid, I couldn’t physically cut it with my fork and knife. My friend had the burger and chips which was mediocre at best but both meals were only lukewarm. Our waitress was very good at getting our next drink orders in so that we had time for all 6 drinks which was good as this was one of my concerns before coming. All in all we were happy that for just under £40 each we’d had 6 nice cocktails, and I would recommend it for drinks however I would not recommend any food here whatsoever and personally think that they would receive more positive feedback if they concentrate more on drinks only and perhaps a small bar snack menu.

I could give 0 stars I would. The bouncers on the door acting as if they own the place!! Absolutely ridiculous. We had a table booked for 10pm for 6 people, 14th December 2024. We turned up to get in and the bouncers instantly took a disliking to one of the men in our group and instantly turned us away from the door because he supposedly had ‘track/jogger bottoms on’ I want to add, we were so respectful when we arrived. And also the man in question had smart trouser bottoms on, with smart trainers. Not track/jogger bottoms on. The bouncer then felt the man in questions bottoms, and then admitted the are not track bottoms. Your bouncers at the door were completely unprofessional, smoking cigarettes at the door and instantly being rude to our full party for no reason what so ever, when they literally let 3 men in front of us in with similar outfits on. Completely unacceptable and your bouncers have ruined our full night when some of us had travelled from Manchester to enjoy Edinburgh and have completely set the seen on Edinburgh up shockingly for us. Have a rethink on who you hire on your doors. I have photos of said bouncers as well should you care for them to be sent over. BOYCOTT EDI SLUG AND LETTUCE.

Tuvimos una gran noche aquí. El ambiente era tan bueno incluso en una noche de semana. No podía agradecer al personal lo suficiente por su ayuda y hospitalidad. Todo el mundo era tan acogedor y alegre todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí. ¡Los cócteles a mitad de precio también son una ventaja!

Lo que realmente hizo el almuerzo memorable fue nuestro camarero, Andrew. Con su encantador comportamiento y atento servicio, elevó nuestra comida a nuevas alturas. Él era el hombre que lo tenía pasando, todo mientras nos hacía sentir genuinamente atendidos. Su calidez y pasión por la hospitalidad añadieron un toque de romance a la comida, como si fuéramos los únicos invitados en el bullicioso lugar.

¡CJ estuvo genial! Él era muy eficiente sirviéndonos. Nos hizo sentir muy bienvenido! ¡Sin duda pregunta por él como tu servidor!

I recently visited Slug & Lettuce for cocktails, and it was fantastic! The drink menu was amazing, with a great variety of creative options. I especially loved the See you later – perfectly made and beautifully presented. The 2-for-1 deal made it even better! The atmosphere was lively, and the staff were friendly and quick with service, even on a busy night. Definitely the perfect spot for drinks with friends. Highly recommend!

Great first a girls outing, cannot recommend the boozy brunch more highly. The service is excellent, the drinks seem to be unending and the food is very satisfying. Our waiting staff, Ross, Lirn and Andrew were exceptional, funny, engaging and really ensured we were all very happy.

Brilliant hen do! Went for brunch option which included 6 drinks! We were having a great time and thankfully the staff member Ross kept coming back to us for our next round so we could have all of our drinks. Ross also moved us to a more comfy seat despite the bar being busy. Would deffo return x

Been to slug and lettuce before and had no issues. However, have to say I’m shocked at the service I received last night. First off we got there around 20:40 ordered drinks at 20:50. About twenty minutes later still no drinks a worker comes round saying the apps down and to order at the bar. We all went up still not got the drinks we ordered off the app and had to wait half an hour more for these. When I complained didn’t get an apology they gave us 3/4 drinks we ordered, my friend still missing a drink, had to go back up again and ask. When I went up the 2nd time they told me it’s not on their system so it wasn’t ordered. When I came back to the table on the app it said it had gone through so I had to go up for the 3rd time baring in mind at this point we had been here about an hour and still not had a drink. Spoke to the same girl again for the third time and said if you don’t have an email confirmation it’s not gone through. Basically explained look over been here an hour had to deal with all this I’m not impressed but thanks for the help. Go back to the table again and guess what! got an email confirmation for the drink we Apprently “haven’t ordered”. Spoke to the manager this time who told me to calm down when I raised my voice asking for the drink I have clearly ordered. Finally after about an hour and 20 minutes got all the drinks. Never got an apology and didn’t seem to emphasise with customers at all. A friend of mine who went the week previously said the same thing happened to him had to wait over and hour for drinks and staff didn’t even apologise or offer help. In conclusion I wouldn’t recommend on a night out unless you’re willing to wait around an hour to receive a “raving disaster”.

Ordered drinks off app before we were told app was off, didn’t receive drinks for a good forty minutes, or other friend didn’t bother ordering because of the shocking service. Got some of the drinks after being up at the bar three times, staff accused me of lying about ordering a drink so had to prove it to them with my bank app and emails, i shouldn’t have had to do this as a customer and my friend had the right to have a go at them as it was terrible service, the drinks weren’t all that great and the night was terrible. Thank you slug and lettuce and I will not be returning here.

trendy restaurant/bar. seemed like the fun scene to hang out for locals. they seemed to be out of alot of stuff, including things for drinks. but the drinks were good and it was nice place to listen to good music

Terrible place. Music soo was deafening and had more staff on than customers. Fair enough if they were doing work but they were standing about flirting with each other rather than doing work and believe me alot of work could have been getting done!Bar was covered in sticky mess with menus all over bar you couldn't actually see the bar top. Fridges were almost empty and tables were sticky never mind the walk over to the table where I was lucky to still have my shoes on my feet rather than left behind on the sticky floor.Will never be back until gets itself sorted out!

Visited slug & Lettuce whilst having a day away for Easter - the team are all really friendly and attentive and I enjoyed my visit - cocktails were great and the place looks amazing!

I had booked tonight for my 50th birthday meal. Once arriving we were shown to a high table which was not suitable as I was there with elderly parents. We were then given a table in the bar, and told to order our meal at the bar.The music was very loud but we decided to stay and I joined the queue to order.Fifteen minutes later I was still in the queue. With people pushing past me extremely drunk, kissing and shouting. The bar staff were more interested in serving these students their cheap cocktails. No one was monitoring the situation and I am positive that under covid rules you were meant to wear masks at a bar, which not one person did.When I did get served I was accused of not paying my last food bill. I explained we had not eaten but this was repeatedly questioned.We ended up walking out which has totally ruined my birthday.Stay well clear unless you want an unprofessional visit.Definitely more interested in students money than protecting others from covid.And very unprofessional accusing a customer of not paying for last meals. How many meals does each customer normally eat?

We went here on our hen party for a cocktail masterclass. Elliott was absolutely sensational, he made our visit the best we could of imagined and reached all our needs!! We can’t thank him enough for making our cocktail experience so amazing. Thank you Elliott and all at slug & lettuce Edinburgh!

Really disappointed to be honest, whilst it’s a lovely setting and a beautiful bar the service is absolutely shocking. We were sat at table 6, but confusingly this looked like 9 so one couple who ordered through the app put the wrong number, we told 4 staff members this error and we’re assured it would be fine. Their starters came out no problem but that’s where it ended, me and my partner ordered and my drinks and starters then mains all arrived before they had a drink or mains, a bit awkward us sitting eating. They waited 50 minutes for 2 juices and 2 mains, it made no sense, my meal was average at best (halloumi and chips) and missing the ‘peas’ lol silly as that sounds it does state it comes with peas and didn’t, chips were soggy and cold. Crap tbh. But the only saving grace is the cocktails are lovely however you will wait an hour for them lol. Now you are timed on your booking so with ten minutes to go we had to probe the staff to give us the drinks we paid for via the app before we were chucked off the table, this happened but you feel rushed it’s poorly managed to be honest. The icing on the cake is hygiene in the female toilets though, ants on the floor, loose loo roll so chances of it being on the ground, horrendous. The toilets are tight too so people who want to remain covid safe aren’t so you feel bad squeezing past to use a hand dryer. Overall nice drinks but slow poor service and food was bad, wouldn’t say no to going back but would not be eating.

I visited the slug and lettuce on George st today for a boozy brunch and had a great time! The bar staff were brilliant. Drinks were fast and tasted even better than we imagined. The floor staff were also extremely friendly and helpful with service. Also answered our queries without hesitation. Quick mention to the guys working Cameron, Emma, Emma, Katy, Deni and Ewan! Will definitely be returning!

Was served by a short red head who was lovely and helped us with what to order and chose a cocktail which best suited our tastes. The venue is unreal and located in the centre of Edinburgh city. Will definitely be back lots more!! Can’t recommend enough. Plus a brand new photo booth has been installed and is such a perfect extra addition to the place.And dog friendly!!!!

My visit to Slug & Lettuce restaurant on George Street was to celebrate my 78th Birthday with my wife. The staff were welcoming and polite, the food and service was excellent. BUT....We could not converse due to the noise from the young kids trying to shout over the booming music while drinking their cheap cocktails,This place is more of a cocktail bar than a restaurant.Great if you're under 30years.

Had a ball when I went to slug and lettuce in edinburgh, the manager Gavin was so lovely and even offered us free drinks when we had an incident. Could’nt reccomend this place anymore such friendly staff and environment.

Here’s what happened…- excruciating slow service - obviously store-bought food - 20min fire alarm during which we banned for leaving (firemen had to come turn it off) it was set off by the staff- ordered drinks multiple times (only served one after an hour)- issues with settling bill (10 bar staff trying to figure it out, ended up being over charged) - sat in dark corner, being forgotten about - there was a hole in the roof - felt like weatherspoons

Really enjoyed my day here - booked a booth and surprisingly got the birdcage, was celebrating our anniversary so made it extra special. My partner got the pina colada and loved the pineapple cup! Looking forward to coming back here! Thank you to the team for making our day so special !

We had to pay £20 deposit n advance to book our table, we were never told that to redeem this £20 back you HAD to order at the bar. We were encouraged to order drinks over the app because of COVID obviously. Noone mentioned that we would lose our money this way. We ordered through the app and it took 1 hour for the drinks to be brought!!! we have to ask 3 members of staff what happened to the drinks before they were finally brought. When i emailed after to ask what to do about getting the £20 deposit back they have ignored any email i have sent.Terrible customer service what is going on here??

Visited for a few drinks, seated quickly and advised order on the app or at the bar. We chose the app as it’s definitely the preferred and safer way of doing things, however after a 25 minute wait for 1 cocktail and 1 pint it became obvious the people ordering at the bar were being served first and much faster.Definitely order at the bar if you can or are in a rush.

We were in Edinburgh for the weekend for our friends birthday so we booked Slug & Lettuce for a bottomless brunch. When we arrived for our booking Sat 5th Feb 12.30, we were told there was a limited menu because of a problem with the gas which is fine but we could have been contacted earlier in the day to say there was a limited menu. We were shown to our table and given the menu. After 15 mins we were still waiting for someone to come and take our order to be told order off the app. Everything on the limited menu seemed to be unavailable we managed to get a couple plates of nachos and a macaroni. We ordered some drinks at the same time. We waited around 45 mins for our drinks and another 30mins for our food. When the food arrived it was barely edible! We ordered another round of drinks and put the plates of food to the side. 30 mins later we got our drinks! We were waiting to see someone to complain about the food but got fed up and walked out. In our time there there was a table of 9 behind us that walked out and a table of 4. The place was an absolute shambles and we were so disappointed. We won’t be back to a Slug & Lettuce and we definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone goes there.

I wouldn't go back to Slug and Lettuce after a bad experience 5 Feb.I had organised a day for my bridesmaids to meet each other and some of them had travelled far to be there. I booked well in advance and had pre booked a cocktail tree which I had requested to be there for our arrival at 1pm.From the moment we arrived the experience was awful. The kitchen had issues and a limited menu was being provided. However the limited menu had many things scored out leaving us with very little choice for lunch. If someone had phoned me in the morning to tell me this then we could have made other arrangements. When we arrived the cocktail tree wasn't there and no one took a drink order from us. It took over an hour and us chasing many times for us to receive the cocktail tree. I had to go up to bar to order some prosecco while we waited as no one bothered to ask us if we needed anything.When I went up to order prosecco almost every glass we were given was dirty with lipstick on them. This is totally unacceptable especially with covid.I luckily was able to find a table elsewhere at 3pm, we were due to stay at Slug and Lettuce until 6pm but after our experience of being left unattended and waiting over an hour for drinks I had pre ordered in advance left us with no choice but to go elsewhere. The other place was night and day in comparison of service they went above and beyond to accommodate us.I won't be coming back to Slug and Lettuce after yesterday, the experience could have ruined our special day and the only way it was saved was down to the other venue.

My family and I had a wonderful experience when we last visited. The staff were delightful and extremely accommodating and the atmosphere management was handled exceedingly well. My wife and kids thoroughly enjoyed all the cocktails my favourite Is the Ab Fab which was accompanied by a delicious candy cane necklace. Despite my doctors telling me to stay away from sweets the Ab Fab always seems to draw me in. And it wasn't the only Candy behind the bar either. That Ewan fella is a much needed breath of fresh air. And hats off to Jamie, and Katy for their stunning rendition of ABCDEFU, I used to despise that song but now I genuinely feel like I can stomach it. Without a doubt we will b returning.

honest reviewMy friend and I went out to this s&l on the weekend for some drinks and food. Getting seated wasn’t a problem and the staff that we spoke to and interacted with were friendly and you could see they were very busy and trying their best. Although.. ordering was a nightmare, it was only 6:30pm and they had little to nothing available on the food menu, you couldn’t even get regular fries.. our food came out super quickly like not even 10 minutes after ordering which wasn’t a bad as the food was honestly fine but the problem was the drinks oh my.. firstly they were really expensive there wasn’t a cocktail or very anything less than £8 also the shots tasted really weak, the cost we expected just because it is Edi, but the problem was they weren’t good it felt very average for what your paying for.The worse thing was probably the waiting time it took my drinks 45 minutes to arrive and by then we were so fed up and definitely did not want to order anything else just because of how long it took for drinks to arrive we ended up just going to Wetherspoons of all places.So I wouldn’t recommend this place as I felt it was very overpriced for pretty bad service.

Me and my partner visited the restaurant last night with a group of our friends for a birthday meal/drinks. We first ordered the martini tree through the app provided at the table and after 50 minutes I approached the bar to ask where our drinks were. I was told they were just being made and the woman came across as very unsympathetic. My partner asked a woman about our drinks and she said she would go and see what's happened but we didn't hear from her again. When a male member of staff brought drinks over for my friends i asked when our drink was coming the guy abruptly said it was obviously busy and walked away. I can understand that it was a busy night and as someone who also works in hospitality I can appreciate being behind but waiting 50 minutes before raising a complaint then waiting further before mentioning it again and getting nowhere we finally managed to get the attention of another member of staff who immediately apologised and went to make the drinks for us herself. We waited a total of an hour and 20 minutes for our first drink to even arrive after also having our starter and main meals. No manager came to speak to us and apologise about the wait and no member of staff apart from one seemed to care at all. All in all a very disappointing start to a night out.

Great place, atmosphere is the best on George Street. Pre-ordered a cocktail tree - highly recommend the trees of you are celebrating - comes with a sparkler.

Good points: the food arrived promptly, tasted ok and was really hot. Drinks are reasonably priced. If you like a buzzing atmosphere, it was definitely buzzing later in the evening. The staff are friendly and try their best.Not so good points: getting brought filthy glasses (twice) during covid isn’t great. Like all S & L branches, the staff seem to lack even the most basic training, so don’t expect them to clear things, as they bring new stuff over, ask if you need anything, or notice when you are trying to get their attention. The toilets were pretty bad. I had to leave two cubicles before finding one that I dared go into. It’s clear that the loos are not checked regularly. In sum it’s ok. There’s always a feeling in the Slug and Lettuce that it could go really pear-shaped, but that’s the chance that you take.

As trainee teachers we are not flush nor fussy! BUT the food was prompt, delicious and perfect for sharing. The Porn Star Martinis were trrroooolllyyy scrumptious! And the Prosecco is lovely too! Drinks were prompt and music was popping (if you like the naughties pop tunes) - would recommend for value and atmosphere and service!

I ordered a sex on the beach and a passion fruit daiquiri. The sex on the beach arrived warm and was undrinkable, the daiquiri was far to strong and tasted like pure alcohol that was also undrinkable. The customer service was shocking we mentioned about the drinks being warm and to strong and they done nothing about it.

Came here specifically for the pina coladas as they’ve always been the best in Edinburgh. Totally changed the ingredients (I’m told because of covid?) and now like watery coconut juice. See photos of before and after. Yuk

No nos dijeron que cerraran temprano. En la reserva de la aplicación. Al final nada de pescado y patatas fritas. No estoy enamorado del personal ni de la comida. No volvería. Al personal le vendría bien la formación.

Reservamos un espacio debido a la situación actual, nos advirtieron que el servicio podría ser lento, tuvimos que esperar para cobrar nuestra tarifa de reserva previa y nos dejaron a un lado por un tiempo para las personas que ingresaban, algunos se rendirían en esto. . . algunas bebidas tomaron 15 minutos y ciertamente no los mejores cócteles, eso puede ser porque habíamos estado en algunos lugares realmente espectaculares. . . Dicho esto, dejamos nuestra mesa temprano y fuimos a un bar tradicional que algunos pueden pensar que es un antro y me encantó más. . . bueno para grupos, supongo. . . caballos de carreras . . El personal de espera fue impecable

Tuve problemas con la aplicación después de que tuve problemas para aceptar mi tarjeta tres veces, no estoy seguro de si fue la conexión a Internet ya que mi tarjeta está perfectamente bien. Finalmente aceptó. Grandes ofertas de bebidas por el 50% de descuento en cócteles no se pueden quejar. El encantador restaurante siempre lo recomendaría para bebidas.

Reservamos para ir aquí el domingo por la noche del fin de semana festivo. Reservado con anticipación debido a espacios limitados debido a COVID. No tenían nuestra reserva de reserva en su lista, ¡tuvieron que probarlo a través del correo electrónico que me enviaron! Antes de eso, esperamos 20 minutos afuera antes de que pudiéramos llegar a la recepción para confirmar nuestra reserva. Parecía que no había suficiente personal en el edificio para administrar el lugar por la noche, especialmente para una noche festiva. Planeamos ir a almorzar a The Slug and Lettuce, nos paramos junto a la puerta y tres miembros del personal nos ignoraron por completo, uno incluso miró a su alrededor, nos vio y continuó su conversación. Mi esposo dijo cortésmente 'disculpe', una chica se acercó a regañadientes, pedimos una mesa para dos y una vez más regresó con sus amigos y continuó su conversación, ¡en ese momento nos alejamos! ¡Qué mala educación, quizás la administración debería hablar con su personal sobre el servicio al cliente!
