A quaint and unique spot in Edinburgh. I went because of the reviews and wasn’t let down! Had a fabulous cheese platter and a great glass of wine. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Scotland ❤️

Pickles was an excellent place that we happened upon for a late afternoon break. The wine and food were excellent but even better than that was the friendly service. The staff (Liz? and Scott) went above and beyond. Thank you!

This place is unique for its interior design. Warm and cosy. If you love pickles especially and they serve very nice mozzarella. Only missing bit is the jazz music. ☮️✌️🕊️

Pedimos un whisky y un Aperol Spritz para empezar, y disfrutamos tanto del ambiente que nos quedamos para una segunda ronda - otro whisky y un gin tonic de Edimburgo. Charlamos con el personal del bar, que era atractivo y acogedor en todo momento. La comida se veía muy bien - un montón de queso y platos de carne. ¡Una pena que ya hubiéramos comido! Sin duda volveremos.

What a lovely little bar. We stumbled upon it after dining out and were greeted by friendly staff. We ordered a whisky and an Aperol Spritz to start, and enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we stayed for a second round – another whisky and an Edinburgh gin and tonic. We chatted to the bar staff, who were engaging and welcoming throughout. The food looked great – lots of cheese and meat platters. A shame we’d already eaten! We’d definitely go back.

My friend and I caught this place on a super quiet Sunday afternoon (last time we were in it was HEAVING!). it's got such a lovely, chilled vibe and awesome, fascinating decor. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the FOOD.... omg the food!! 🤩 It's become my go-to bar for a quick drink OR a Sunday pub lunch! LOVE IT 🥰

Arrived early Friday evening and while we were waiting in line to add our name and party size to the blackboard to wait for an available table, another party of 4 walked in and straight to the bar where the hostess added their name to the board (ahead of us). Try as I might to explain to the hostess, she couldn’t see the problem, and so we left.

My husband and I love Pickles, been many times now and it's always spot on. Fantastic wine at Fantastic prices, and their sharing platters and nibbles are the perfect picky bits dinner

This is such a vibey little wine bar. We walked in without a booking and got the combo bottle of wine and Scottish cheese platter for £40. It was so yum! 10/10 would recommend

A nice wee cosy place for a date or just for friends. Great wine selection and a wonderful choice of cheese and/or meat platters. They also have a choice of 5 Patés that you can buy right there to take home. Definitely recommend coming here 10/10!

Never been there, but might have walked past it.

What an amazing experience! We ordered the cheese for 2, but were thoughtfully advised to go with the cheese for 1 since we had the scotch egg. They mentioned that they would happily upgrade us to the for 2 price if we needed more! The cheese was fantastic, and the scotch egg was a real treat. It was just the perfect amount, and we were grateful for the recommendation. The excellent service and the delicious cheese and wine made this the best spot we visited on our trip to Edinburgh! We can’t wait to come back!

It was ok. I don't know what all the fuss is about. The gluten free toast option isn't great. The cheese and charcuterie weren't the best quality in my opinion. Service was nice.

This is a great place, full of life full of really good wine and food. You can book this, just show up and wait, it's well worth it. Cheers and meats and lovely wine work every time for us, and just u the road from our house, you can go wrong. Highly recommended!

Me and my partner had a loverly night here recently. The atomosphere was class and the food was amazing. On top of that we had some of the best service I’ve ever had so all around awesome. Thank you for making our night special.

Oh my god. What a find! Was recommended Pickles by a friend and though it's a bit out from Edinburgh City Centre we had an absolute blast. Bottle of wine plus a meat and cheese board was £48 and the amount of food was ridiculous. They even gave us more (free) bread and crackers when required. We got given the cosiest little booth - best seats in the house we think! Just be warned - gets v v busy so be prepared for a wait as they don't kick people out after a certain time (a lovely touch tbh). A million out of 10. Would recommend to anyone who likes cheese and wine.

I had an amazing experience at Pickles! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening out. The wine selection was impressive, with a wide range of options to suit every palate. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service, especially from our server Nona. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, helping us choose the perfect wines to pair with our small bites. They made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a top-notch wine bar experience!

Fantastic! We each enjoyed a DELICIOUS Scottish cheese platter, with a lovely selection of Scottish hard and soft cheeses, all served with crusty bread, oatcakes & pickles. Really scrumptious!! Polished off with a fab Australian Shiraz. Great atmosphere, exceptional service, a LOVELY meeting and eating place. This is our new favourite venue! Thanks so much Pickles team - we love you!! 💚

Es el lugar más perfecto para ir si usted está buscando una comida más ligera por la noche y una copa de vino o dos. La comida es excepcional - maravillosos platos de carne y queso, patés, queso local, bannocks, huevos escoceses y pequeños platos de chutney, relish y encurtidos. Además de un montón de delicioso pan y mantequilla. Puedes tener tanto o tan poco como quieras. Está bellamente diseñado en el interior - toques escoceses bonitos, peculiares, cómodos, encantadores y un fuego real, haciéndolo acogedor y cálido. Y mención especial tiene que ver con la muy cálida y amable bienvenida que recibimos. Trish es un gran anfitrión y Eleanor nos cuidó perfectamente - gente genuinamente encantadora, amable y atento. good service, good wine, good cheese, but Shrek wasn't even there...

Service wasn't good. Waitresses were busy having drinks in the kitchen so we had to wait around 15-20mins just to order a drink. Later, when we asked for the bill we were charged for something we didn't order..at the end all was resolved . However, the overall experience was pretty disappointing

The waitress was distracted.. we were the last customers to come in and she forgot to take our order for drinks only for more than 20 minutes till another waitress came to us. Bill was wrong too.

The wine selection is thorough and the value is unparalleled. From date night to after work drinks, this place is unrivalled by anything I've seen in the UK. Truly a cultural moment that hits every note and invites you to question why no other bar has excelled so spectacularly. My recommendation is essentially a guarantee.

The best ever cheeseboard I had in my life. Apart from Michelin star places. Also very kind service, great chat and warm atmosphere just to mention the best things.

We had some extra time and decided to stop by Pickles for pre-dinner drinks and appetizer. Needless to say, we ended up cancelling our dinner reservations after feasting on one of their cheese and charcuterie boards. Wine selection was great. The bar is quaint and cozy. One star off due to noise level, it wasn’t even full and it was hard to hear my partner. Would still visit again next time we are in Edinburgh!

We went to Pickles for a birthday celebration as we wanted the birthday person to experience this place which we used to love. Unfortunately we were left disappointed by the whole experience. Staff members took the order from us and delivered the food and then just....disappeared... we wanted to order more bread and drinks but we had to wait for a while as there was no one at the bar.. also, I might be wrong, but the mixed meat and cheese platter seemed much smaller than I remembered, and the quality didn't seem as good (apart from cheese). Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back.

We were at Pickles in November 2019. It’s 2024 now and we still talk about Pickles fondly. Sadly we went at the end of our five day stay in Edinburgh, otherwise we would have been there more than once. If we’re ever back in Scotland, we’ll be back! BTW, we talk about Scotland fondly too. It was our best vacation ever.

Great place to visit with friends. Good food and drinks. The only weird thing is that this place never offers legal receipts but only papers with the order handwritten something I find the least dodgy.

Pickles is an amazing venue, one of my top recommendations in Edinburgh. Lucy, our server, was so polite and accommodating, despite it being such a busy Saturday night. In fact the service is always phenomenal and I cant fault a single staff member. The food is gorgeous, and I highly recommend the mixed meat and cheese. I'll be back soon and often!

Very warm welcoming vibe and on a busy night we were lucky to get a table with a short wait. Fantastic charcuterie board with wonderful cheeses and meats, generous biscuits and bread, delicious wine options. Buzzy without being loud, cool decor and just an all round memorable happy experience.

An incredible address, with lots of character. The waiters are very friendly, the cuisine is refined and not overpriced which is rare in the UK. The portions are nice and it's nice to share a platter. Truly an address worth the detour!

I just saw Nicholas Patni’s review and I was there that evening. When his friend fainted a member of the bar staff went straight up to the group to check on her and ask if they should order an ambulance. They said no. Yes, I saw that they were waiting for a table for a while, but a staff member walked up to them several times to give them an update on tables and availability. I was more shocked that the whole group of friends stood around laughing, while the girl lay on the floor. She also sat down on a seat following this, so I just find this review, offensive and totally wrong.

Awful customer service. Was told a table would be ready very soon ended up waiting 1h30 for a table and still no table materialised. A person in our group fainted and still no staff member offered up the smaller table for our group to be at so that our friend could at least sit. I think the staff should be ashamed

Visited on a whim during a Sunday shopping in Edinburgh. It was quiet, but had a lovely welcoming feel and was a calm, cosy environment to recharge in. We opted for the cheese and meat platter for two with a glass of red wine each, and it was divine. The hostess was very friendly, welcoming us with a glass of water and ensuring that we sat where we wanted. She also told is where our cheeses were from. 100% recommend!

LOVE this place! We had visited once before and loved it so much that we just had to come back. It's exactly what you'd expect from a great wine bar. There's an amazing selection of wine (wide variety and very affordable) and they also have HUGE charcuterie boards. Seriously, the charcuterie boards are the stuff of dreams. To begin with, they're enormous! Huge portions of high quality meat, cheese, and bread. They don't really have much else to eat on the menu besides the meat and cheese boards, but wow they are truly all you need! They are enough for a full meal and each selection of meat/cheese was delicious. Overall, it's very easy to spend hours here just enjoying great wine, great company, and great ambience . Pickles is extremely charming and delightful. I only wish I lived in Edinburgh so Pickles could be my weekend hang out spot, but till then it'll always be a "must visit" anytime I'm in town. Highly recommend.

Bar à vin sympathique et accueillant ! Les planches sont super le choix des vins également avec des choses originales. La décoration est traditionnelle et l’endroit est calme pour discuter !

Third time back here. It holds special memories from our first visit 10 years ago and today's revisit was just as good. The actual place has expanded but the overall experience was just as good if not better.

Maybe...probably....our new favourite place in Edinburgh. We had to wait a few minutes for a table (no reservations....just rock up), but it was well worth it. The staff are excellent, and take good care of you...very busy on a Saturday night in January. We got the Med. sharing plate with house white (excellent) and it was loads for 2 people. Great atmosphere, great food, good value and lovely staff. Next time we're in Edinburgh we'll be swinging by here.

The mixed charcuterie is generous portion for two with Scottish cheeses, tasty meats, pickles (obviously!), olives, bread and oatcakes for just £28. Good selection of wines at affordable prices. Was on my to-go list for a while and didnt dissapoint! Excellent showcase of Scottish cheeses, with a variety of meats, pickles, and chutney. Wine pairing was good, and definitely affordable! Waiters were friendly and polite. Overall, money well spent and I'll go again! My only complaint is that I wish I could request for crackers instead of oatcakes.

Always enjoy a visit to Pickles. They don't take bookings so be prepared to wait for a space if turning up during peak times. You can usually have a drink while waiting. The wine is always delicious and a great range. We also have a few platters, they're perfect additions and there's several options. The staff are always super friendly and offer great service. It's generally our 'go to' place whrn in the city.
