Amazing team!!!!! (Tracy/Chelsea and Alisha). They made our dinner perfect with our family. Without the team it would have been an average evening. Their service and customer care was amazing. Thank you sooooooo much!!!!

This is just excellent and so welcoming food excellent atmosphere is good and the food excellent and the staff are brilliant throughout can’t fault anything.

Very disappointed!! Ordered fish and chips and to be honest it was very poor, mostly batter and overcooked fish!! My husbands burger was ok, tho he said it was a bit dry too. Our usual place for lunch was closed so we ended up here. It's a lovely setting and could be so much better, step up guys there's far more better places in south Queensferry....

We loved our stay at this enchanting hostelry. One minor gripe was the lack of Vegetarian- Vegan options. One main meal was disapointing. It was a permanent item on the menu. As vegetarian - vegan eating has a wide following we deserve the same choives with a varied menu that is offered to everyone else. Also dislike both Aubergene and garlic I had to contend with soup and a dessert. On our last night we went to Marks and Spencers and ate in our room.

Lunch only..... Good food but certainly not fast as it's cooked fresh. I don't like dogs in eating areas

Came for the Sunday roast. A trio this time. Amazing all meats cooked how I like them, the beef was medium and fat on the pork crunchy. Great portion size. Wanted dessert but no room.

Lovely decor and food was nice. Service was really poor, staff talking among themselves and not really interested or engaging with tables and customers. With the exception of Summer, she was single handedly trying to keep everything running and was fantastic.

I am not one to write reviews normally but the girls asked if we could do this for them and as many of us as possible. We had the private room for a family celebration and from start to finish it was great. Lovely food, drink and service. I will be back again with my wife as we really enjoyed the food.

A quirky alternative to the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh during the Festival. Recommended.

It was wonderful. Room was clean and spacious with a fantastic view. Bathroom facilities were also good. Long wait for drinks whilst dining but the food was also excellent. We came for dinner as a family to test the menu as we were planning on booking your private dining for an 80th birthday. We were very disappointed as all bar one had to send aspects of our meal back to the kitchen. 2 portions of chips had to go back as they were cold, the fish was burnt on the outside and undercooked/slimey on the inside and was extremely oily and the lamb kebab was cold also. When the lamb came back, we knew it wasn’t fresh. It was presented in a small bowl and when we questioned if it was fresh we were told it was reheated to 84 degrees as though that made it ok. We came to eat as a family and we were all eating at different times of the visit due to having to send items back. When my mum received her second fish, she wasn’t able to eat it due to being sick from the first meal she had got. When the waitress came to check in with our food I explained the situation about my mum being sick and we were met with attitude. She advised that the fish was fresh and made a face as if she didn’t believe that the food was the cause of the vomiting. We felt when we expressed our dissatisfaction our waitresses attitude changed, she became stand offish and unpleasant. She did apologise for the issues but it didn’t seem sincere in the slightest. She also rolled her eyes on several occasions. When we asked for the bill there’s was no explanation that they had removed the fish and chips and we just felt the overall experience was terrible.

Fantastic service from start to finish. Food was amazing, fish and chips, steak pie big shout out to Michelle for making our visit that little bit more special. Keep up the amazing work guys

Took our adult grandchildren to lunch to celebrate my 75th birthday. What a disappointment. Although the staff were very pleasant, the service was slower than we have ever experienced anywhere. To top that the food was very poor. Starters : ? a bland Thai fishcake is an oxymoron. My clams and King Prawn only had two tiny shrimps and no Prawns. The chicken liver pate was average. After another very long wait the mains, except for the fish and chips, we're very poor. Again the king prawns with the sea bass were replaced by tiny shrimps. The lamb skewer was tasty but only a few pieces were edible. Some were bloody and others so tough they couldn't be chewed. I don't want to say more. Even the special Easter Bombe was disappointing. A sad way to celebrate a special birthday.

Visited the restaurant after doing our boat tour. Although we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was busy the staff were great and found us a table. Starters were a bit limited for us so we passed on a starter. Our mains came and they were delicious. The tomato relish that was on my chicken burger was beautiful. Hubby really enjoyed the side of Mac & cheese, our desserts were also really nice. Could have been doing with a lot more custard that's my only complaint about the food. Restaurant was clean and staff were all lovely. It was a bit like a maze finding my way out. Definitely will be back for more food.

Visited on Saturday night. Restaurant was busy but we were seated quickly. Drinks order as soon as we were seated. We ordered our food, starters came out in good time and went down well. Our mains were lovely. I had the bacon chop and it was tender and tasty. Hubby had the steak which was cut like butter and cooked perfectly. No room for pud though.

Once we had ordered our food, we waited nearly 40 minutes. I then had to ask to see if our food was ready, minutes later the waitress arrived and put down my burnt and cold chicken skewer. I informed the waitress, even let her feel the skewer to see it was cold. She sent out the manager who was as helpful as very unhelpful manager. I told her we were leaving and I paid £6.10 for two half lagers.

We've never been before and it was a spur of the moment decision to grab some food whilst in the area. Views are stunning and the pub is situated right under the rail bridge. It's a large building and we were met quickly and guided to a quiet seating area. Friendly service from Tracy, who made us feel very welcome and not rushed. Good choice of food on the menu and standard prices. Food was served quickly, nice and hot and amazing flavours! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.

First class food, first class service, first class prices and first class views. Staff were as friendly and welcoming as you will ever get from any restaurant. I genuinely haven’t had food as good as what we had here in a long long time. Hadn’t been in a few years but after my masters visit I don’t know why. I will be back very soon and will take advantage of a nights stay next time around.

Our group ordered fish & chips and the Sunday turkey roast. Both were wonderful! Large portions and very tasty. Our waitress We had Tracy as our waitress. She was very attentive and even took her time to take some pics of our group for us and she was very nice. We enjoyed our first time here with our friends who were locals!

Great staff. Lovely food. Nice location. But really noisy plumbing. When flushing toilet the whole room was engulfed in a weird droning noise when cistern was filling. And it seemed that if someone was showering in a nearby room there was lots of loud noise like an engine running. Plumbing needs a good service.

Very nice, friendly room, my only regret is that having to leave at 7 a.m. for the airport, I was not able to meet anyone to return the keys because the reception door was closed.

The team are warm and friendly, the food and service excellent and Room 2 was warm, comfortable and clean. This was not my first visit and on two separate occasions rooms have either not been clean or in need of maintenance. Clearly, it did not stop me returning.

Had a meal, and an overnight stay for my wifes birthday. The staff were attentive and on the ball from the minute we booked in. The room was quirky, well furnished and right under the iconic Forth Rail Bridge and overlooking the small harbour, where the original ferry to north Queensferry left. Meal was first class, and breakfast was fantastic. Wouldn't advise anyone to stay here, incase next time, there's 'no rooms at the Inn' haha.

Came here for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed, lovely warm and relaxed atmosphere, staff are very polite, kind and helpful. And our meals were hot, well presented and tasty, I had roast beef which was cooked to perfection as was my husband’s chicken forestiere, The desserts were also delicious Looking forward to our next visit

Had a great meal tonight with friends tonight. Food was amazing & staff were brilliant as always. However some of the "clientele" leave a lot to be desired. People that expect quality food to be rushed & get abusive towards staff should maybe think of eating elsewhere

Lovely Inn located right on the quayside underneath the Forth Railway Bridge. It was very busy when we called in, but a table was found for us even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food was lovely fish & chips for me, halloumi skewers for my friend - both very tasty, but also very filling. My only regret not having left enough room for a pudding ! Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The food here is just excellent and the service is first class. There is a cosy, olde worlde atmosphere in the restaurant which is very welcoming.

As a local I’m keen that this traditional inn does well so I continue to give the place a chance. A fantastic job has been done on the interior and menu looks good too. We booked a table for Sunday lunch. Place was busy but not full at 2.30 in the afternoon. Placing our order at the bar whilst stating our table number, the chap at till responded with “we aren’t taking walk ins” We had pre booked our table! Realising he had jumped to conclusions, he took my order…2 roast beef Sunday lunches. They were too busy however to be able to serve this particular option 😳 We opted to leave as it’s just so continually rubbish and with several other local options, we were able to walk in to the ever popular restaurant based at Port Edgar where we were allocated a table, served promptly and provided with a delicious lunch. Just what anyone would expect a restaurant to provide. We have vowed to not return as we have had more rubbish experiences than positive that it’s not worth the hassle nor the embarrassment.

This was our second visit this week . On Tuesday had lunch with friends, food and service excellent Today we were back with family for a birthday celebration.Also brought along our furry member of the family so this time sat in the dog friendly area which has a table set with dog bowls water and treats. We had the Sunday lunch , 2 of which were the vegan choice and again food excellent and lovely staff We chose the Hawes Inn today because of the vegan options available and because it is dog friendly. Also unlike nearby restaurants which add a service charge, (and service not always great), Hawes Inn does not .However on both occasions this week we were more than happy to give a well deserved tip.. We have now discovered a favourite place to eat .

Went back here yesterday for an early dinner. The fillet steak was excellent. Service was very professional and friendly. A plus point for me was the music from the speakers could hardly be heard - a great improvement on my last visit in April for lunch.

This restaurant was recommended by our Air BNB host. We were a group of six, including two children. The mackerel spread starter was delicious, as was the ribeye, pork Belly and chicken breast. Highly recommend having a reservation as this is a popular restaurant!

Quick pop in for late afternoon lunch. Seated immediately with no reservation. Seated menu given yo us drinks order taken. Service was quick, efficient and our server very delightful. Two soft drinks, Pepsi Max & a Ginger Beer plus our two mains. £45. Great value we thought, very warm, inviting surroundings. Food just superb, we both cleared our plates. Thanks chef! Seared fillets of sea bass & prawns served on a bed of beautiful potatoes with a tasty sauce was my choice. Husband chose the Chicken and vegetable Penang Curry with creamy coconut sauce, pak choi and jasmine rice. Wonderful! Well reccomended.

I’m sick of hearing of the hospitality industry is struggling. It’s certainly not in South Queensferry. This place is a joke and has got it too good. Went there on Sunday afternoon and sat at a table with a menu and cutlery. Ordered drinks then went back to bar to order food, only to be told we are not serving food in that area (where I’m sat, at a table with a menu). Avoid.

This is a very historic building where RLS wrote part of his book kidnapped so we came for another visit as I hadn’t realised that when we last visited. Food and service were both fantastic and we will be back again.
