Outstanding brunch in a lovely little place on the common. The beans on the breakfast are brilliant! Lovely place with friendly staff and a chilled atmosphere.

This place is local to us and is a place to stop to have a coffee and a bite to eat when walking the dog. We have been coming here for years and it’s never been that great. Today, however was a new low. The avocado on toast had virtually no avocado, instead the cold undercooked toast was covered in rocket and a very large dollop of pickle (not on the menu) to hide the lack of avocado. Truly disgusting. The second dish we had was a cheese toastie. This had briefly seen the same toaster as the avocado bread. Cold and flabby cheap bread. The cheese had seen no grille at all. My advice is don’t bother. Go to Bellevue Road instead.

Very unfriendly and rude/unwelcoming staff. Customers seem to be an inconvenience to the management. Such a shame as great location on Wandsworth Common. Won’t be returning.

too many screaming kids and it's very echoey with the acoustics, needs some soft furnishing to dampen noise. could do with better menu options, especially gluten free. tea is nice and coffee is fine. they sell food for the birds, which is nice.

Exploring Wandsworth Common, eventually we arrived at The Skylark Cafe, in time for a tasty bowl of cauliflower and burnt butter soup (the burning was intentional) with sourdough toast. The cafe was okay, but showed signs of the complacency which can occur when there is no competition. Nonetheless, the cafe provides a pleasant way to take a break during a Common walk.

I visited here for coffee after it had changed hands and the coffee was terrible. I suggested that they could try changing provider. I went back last year - the coffee is still terrible.

On a gorgeous warm Sunday the tills were broken so I can only imagine what revenue they lost today ! Was so looking forward to a nice brunch after dragging over my deck chair and picnic rug to the common. No proper signage to indicate if they were hoping to get things fixed today. It’s a long way to go to find another cafe so really disappointing. I spend a lot in this cafe , love their breakfast rolls and coffee and the straight talking Scottish manager who is great to chat with. I can only assume she wasn’t in today as I’m sure she would have got things sorted. Also the website needs updating as the prices are a lot higher in the cafe than on the website plus do they really use Cracklebean eggs ? They seemed a very pale yolk compared to the ones I buy. They are expensive so I hope they are using good quality eggs. Such a shame this happened today when the park was full of families.

Awful staff and costumer service is extremely poor. Good not so good either. Obnoxious and arrogant service.

First time we have eaten here since Skylark re-opened and we had a really great experience. There are lots of excellent veggie options, we had the salad bowl with artichokes and the crushed avocado on sourdough with nice coffee and fresh orange juice. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Had us waiting for 20 minutes for food after they said it could take up to 5 minutes. When we asked how much longer it would be they just kept telling us to wait. After 20 minutes I asked for a third time and they just said they messed up our order and hadn’t put it through correctly so we’d need to get in line and order again. No apology or care to try and correct their error. Staff were VERY unhelpful and RUDE, the coffee we did manage to get was basic. Don’t waste your time or money!

I visited this cafe for lunch with my partner during a daytrip on a sunny Saturday. At first I was a little taken aback that it did not appear so spacious as in the photos, and the outside seating was a bit crowded with families, but this is due to Covid regulations making only outside service possible and we did find a completely quiet area to sit around the side of the building. We ordered using the app, which I had downloaded in advance and found very convenient. It was a little inconvenient that we were called to collect the drinks before the food was ready, but we did not wait long overall. The food was truly excellent. The quality of ingredients in our toastie and bacon roll were far better than I would ever expect in a cafe in a park. Thick bacon / ham, rich golden eggs, fresh avocado and tasty cheese. We were glad to be able to chose decaf tea. The prices seem fine to me - but then I do live in Bath where everything is overpriced. If we go back to Battersea I would definitely eat here again.

Drinks and ice creams are fine but don’t waste your money on the food! Waited over 30 minutes for 2 toasted sandwiches and one ended up being some boiled broccoli and slices of cheese on dry bread. Staff not very friendly so didn’t feel comfortable complaining, but very disappointed. Won’t bother ordering food again, which is a shame given the location!

Such a shame that such a great location with so much potential offers such thoroughly average food. Even the kids toasted sandwich went untouched. The winter berry salad with dry roasted pumpkin was thoroughly awful with spiralled soggy carrot, soggy cold pumpkin and a weird pesto sauce. Will not be returning for the miserable staff who can’t even managed a proper hello or smile !

I would like to think I’m becoming a regular to this place. Haven’t eaten here yet off the menu but had some of there cabinet foods. The cakes are lovely. And it’s a great place to purchase some duck and swan food for the kids (or adults ) and go feed them at the ponds. Love the smoothies. And coffee is okay.

The Skylark Cafe occupies a fairly central position within the rather disjointed open space bisected by various roads and a railway line which is Wandsworth Common. It is close to both a children’s play area and tennis courts so attracts players of all ages. It has a couple of rooms in which to enjoy a sandwich, salad and, say, a frozen mocca coffee as well as a space outside with a buggy park. It has recently been refurbished. At midday this Friday it was doing a considerable trade. Service was polite and efficient.

Took my mum and husband here on a Sunday afternoon for a cup of coffee and cake. All of our coffees were Luke warm. The cake we purchased was super dry so I apologetically and respectfully took it back and asked if we could select a different piece. I didn't mention the coffee. I was met with a 'tut' and look of disgust. Another cake that I had chosen was thrust into my hand without a look. Unfortunately the next piece we had chosen was even drier than the last. We gave up at that point for fear of the same reaction. I wouldn't return. Shame as we are new to the area and it's a great location

Such a shame great location .Cakes were stale and dry had to return them twice , staff were not happy very surly .Toilets were dirty very unpleasant .

Well located cafe, inside the common, but inside it’s not hygienic at all, it’s dirty. That’s a shame because it’s always full of kids with their parents.. I think they should be more careful about the cleaning!! The food is very standard and simple.. This cafe should be renovated!

I went to Skylark with my friends last week for lunch and had the Spiced Cauliflower and Sweet Potato Fritters, and my friends had the Avocado on Sourdough. Such lovely food!

Came in today with a couple of friends and the service was excellent, super friendly staff as usual! Cannot reccommend this cafe enough!

Tuve un desayuno increíble aquí con mi amigo. Nos dieron la comida rápida y estaba delicioso! El lugar es muy acogedor y te puedes sentar tanto dentro como fuera. Recomiendo terminar la comida con un muffin de arándanos o un trozo de espresso - pastel de caramelo de sal, ¡no te arrepentirás! !

Mi novio y yo visitamos este lugar en el verano. Nos sentamos afuera. Nuestros cafés eran encantadores pero la comida realmente se destacó a nosotros. El yogur / granola / plato de mermelada que tuve fue uno de los mejores desayunos que he tenido. ¡Parecía encantador también! También vinimos a almorzar una vez cuando tuve una ensalada encantadora. Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera.

Very relaxed atmosphere on the common and great coffee. Great for dogs also with free nibbles. Nice staff

Visité Skylark Cafe hace un par de semanas y no tengo idea de por qué hay malas críticas. El servicio y la comida me parecieron excelentes ya un precio muy razonable para la ubicación. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Un lugar encantador para perros. ¡Vuelvo enseguida!

Had lunch with my friend. Waited at the table for someone to notice us. Collected menus myself from a side table. Eventually we went inside to the counter to order as no one even said hello or saw us waiting to order for 8 minutes.

My second visit. A potentially lovely cafe - tasty food and absolutely lovely lovely (very patient) staff - over run with buggies, babies and toddlers. The noise was astonishing. I could not hear my friend speaking. Every table was taken up with children. I have had children so I understand how great it is to go somewhere that is child-friendly but the adults seemed to have little regard for the impact of the wee ones on others. It's not hard to ask your kids to quieten down a bit or to stop dive bombing the sofa from across the other side of the room (and in the path of the staff carrying dishes) whilst shrieking at the tops of their voices. As we were having our post lunch coffee a mum came up and asked us when we would be leaving as she, her friends and kids 'needed' a table as her kids were hungry. We left. It was my second attempt. Sadly I won't be going back..

Fuimos a desayunar justo después de las 9:00 de la mañana del domingo a una pareja con un perro. Todo el personal fue amable y sonriente y el camarero trajo inmediatamente un tazón de agua a nuestra mesa para el perro. Mi pedido era un poco delicado (el desayuno normal pero sin granos o tomates, y una parte de aguacate) pero la mujer inmediatamente en el hasta tomaron exactamente lo que habíamos pedido. Y la comida llegó fenomenalmente rápido - literalmente sólo siete u ocho minutos después de pedir, con el huevos recién paoched - un super cocina eficiente. Compañeros de café snobs se advierte que la capuchino era no barista estándar. . Tienes la vía láctea con sprinklers sobre espuma en vez de hojas introducido en la espuma. No es ese tipo de establecimiento. Pero el desayuno era sabroso y saludable, y el tamaño de la porción era exactamente la derecha. Satisfactorio, pero no gigantesca y derramando - el plato. Nos hicieron sentir como en casa, el servicio fue atento pero unobtrosuive. Siempre es un agradable café, sin pretensiones. Pero en contraste marcado a su antigüedad como terreno común, alguien hay ahora un barco estrecho. Volveremos.

I try and visit Skylark whenever I can. The food is great -- interesting, tasty, good value and something for everyone. The coffee is good and the cakes are sensational! The chef really knows how to put flavour into food! There is a lovely atmosphere about the place and the staff work really hard to make you feel welcome and serve you quickly. I find them very helpful and friendly. Plus as it is situated on the common you have a great view. It really is a gem of a place. I highly recommend and would encourage you to drop in if you are in the area!

Aparte de no abrir pronto el café hace un café y pasteles. La comida también es buena y con los asientos al aire libre es genial para reunirse con los amigos mientras los niños están en el patio de recreo al lado. Aunque no puedes ver ellos recibiendo buenas para hacer esto con pequeños. Como el hecho de que son perros y no gratis babycinoos, lo cual siempre es bueno para los pequeños. He vuelto varias veces mejor al sol o que protegen de la lluvia.

Cuando llegas parece un café bien desde el exterior, había alguien que venden joyas en una mesa en frente de la cafetería. Como fuimos a entrar nos encontramos con una chica que dijo que debía volver a la mesa y ella se venga de nuestra orden. La chica tomó nuestra orden de 2 hamburguesas, huevo en puré 2 pouched avacardo en tostadas, un rollo de seco y una pizza de bacon, los niños más bebidas. Pedí mi huevos escalfados para ser crudos. las hamburguesas vinieron y aunque me pareció que eran caros £11 por burger tenían buena pinta. Entonces mi comida amigos vinieron y ella había pedido al igual que yo, los huevos escalfados y tostadas, en avacardo sus huevos estaban aguados, pero el mío no estaba. Fui dentro del edificio y supongo que hablé con el chef y me dijo que haria otra para mí, dije gracias y me fui a esperar el huevo. Después de una larga espera, volvió con un huevo que parecía la primera, seguramente me pareció que puede ser tan difícil de cocinar huevos escalfados. Dijo que volvería a hacer otro pero ya habia esperado tanto que le dije que no se molestara, él dijo que volvería, pero nunca regresó. Todo este tiempo el niño pequeño todavía estaba esperando por su pizza, teníamos todo terminado nuestra comida. Al final llegamos y nos deje al niño comer, pagamos la factura y a la izquierda. Más tarde fuimos a alimentar a los patos y comencé a sentir mal, así que tuve que luchar en casa. cuando yo estaba enferma y tenía estómago. crónica No había comido nada ese día, así que tenía que ser lo que comimos allí. Así que yo no recomendaría este café y no comer allí. Un gran post el parque para niños té en el skylark esta noche. . . . Gran servicio (incluso. preguntó si nos gustaría limón en nuestra agua del grifo! ) comida sabrosa del menú infantil y una preciosa terraza soleada. . . Un final perfecto para un día ajetreado vacaciones de verano con tres niños! La próxima vez que esté pidiendo el rose!

He estado en el Skylark dos veces, y cada vez que he sido realmente decepcionado. No voy a volver por tercera vez. La comida es buena, pero el tamaño de las porciones son bastante miserable para el precio.

Met family here for brunch and was really impressed by the friendly staff and quick service. Yummy poached eggs and mashed avocado on toast and good kids menu too. Ideal location beside playground for kids.

Skylark has upped its game in recent months and on recent visits the service, coffee and food have all been terrific. (My children love the ice cream!)

This is very well situated in the park. We have sat outside the cafe and also taken our drinks to the bowling green which is next door. The playground is just nearby.

This is a nice old fashioned building in the middle of Wandsworth Common. It has been decorated in a more up to date fashion once you are inside, with a built in banquette into the bay window and child friendly furnishings in the back room. There is lost of room at the front too and some seats outside. The views are pretty and there is a pond nearby where you can bring your kids to feed the ducks. It has a good community notice board although you have to go into the toilet area to read it. It also has a blackboard listing different events that it hosts during the month. In April for example it has music days and popup shops. The food offering is good and varied and it was busy with parents and children on the weekday early afternoon that I was there.

Great, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Kids loved the pizza and then being able to play in the playground just behind.

Skylark cafe always looks so dirty it puts me off ordering any food there. Also staff always looks so miserable and disinterested. The coffee was awful and when I complained to the guy at the till, I was told he will let the girl who made the coffee know. No offer of replacing coffee, he just walked away.I won't be returning to this filthy, overpriced, unwelcoming cafe anytime soon.

Parking was surprisingly easy as residents parking is only an hour 11-12. Great spot right on the common. Nice space in the conservatory, Good, varied menu, quick efficient service tasty good food. Great spot for those with kids as playground just outside.

I came here with three friends for brunch after having played bowls on the lawn next door and loved it. I went for eggs benedict, which was very tasty - the egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce fresh and spot on. My friends said they really enjoyed their dishes; a smashed avocado on toast with poached egg, a Halloumi Salad with Grilled Chicken and a smoked salmon sandwich. We didn't get to try the rest of the more 'lunchy' dishes, but they all looked good. The coffee was great (think it's from Caravan) and when we moved onto wine (!), the selection was small but well picked - we had a Provence Rose and an NZ Sauvignon Blanc which were both tasty and decent value. I'll definitely come back.

Extremely unhappy staff. I was asked twice if I wanted milk my black coffee. There is no way you could come close to calling it good value for money.

I usually come to this lovely place once a week for a lunch and staff members always make me feel very welcome! Food is also very good , normally don't have to wait longer than 15 minutes , perfect for a quick lunch . It does get super busy on sunny days . I'm surprised that there are so many negative comments to be honest, I have never ever been disappointed and I'm going there every week for more than a year . I am recommending this café to all my friends and colleagues and they all are loving it !Keep up the good work ! :)Best wishes,Monta

Met a friend here for brunch. My flat white was OK, but my friend's tea arrived in a cup with the teabag left in, and some milk in a little polyester cup. Nul points for presentation. It was a similar story with the food - not very tasty, barely warm, tired, and no sense of care in its presentation. The staff were pleasant enough but a bit vague and unengaged. The space felt a bit tatty and unloved. A shame because it's a great location which deserves better.

Great location, but we had a tea and a coffee and both were poor. A small tea, no choice of milk, and tasteless coffee. Avoid.

We stopped here for a quick lunch with our two year old and really wished we hadn't. We had to wait fifteen minutes before we could get a waitress to take our order even though she was the third we asked. It took another twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive and for the table to be cleared of the glasses left by the previous occupants, and the order was wrong (tap water rather than sparkling). One burger with the wrong sides arrived with our son's food but they'd forgotten the other burger. We waited another fifteen minutes before two burgers with the right sides appeared but both had toppings we'd requested be removed and were well done when we'd requested that they be cooked rare. We took a couple of bites of the rubbery, lukewarm meat and tried one of the barely cooked chips that were utterly sodden with cooking fat and decided to call it a day. The waiter that eventually brought us our bill could see that we hadn't eaten but tossed us an irritable "I'll pass that on" when informed that the order had been wrong for the third time. Whilst packing up to leave our son accidentally knocked a glass off the table. Not wanting to leave broken glass on the floor, I sought out a waitress who cut off my apology with a "yep" barked at me over her shoulder, turned her back on me and walked off leaving behind her raised eyebrows on other diners watching the scene. She came out to clean up muttering under her breath and proceeded to wipe my foot with her filthy mop. All in all, I still can't quite believe that it was quite this bad. But to summarise, badly cooked food, incompetent and surly service and slightly grimy tables mean we won't be returning which, given that we live so locally, is a shame.

nice little cafe,plenty of people sitting outside in the sun, and busy inside.. icecream was doing a great trade. really nice americano and carrot cake, thoroughly enjoyable. clean and tidy, no debris about, and tables cleared regularly. no issues here the staff were great and friendly too.

outstanding location and no doubt very popular with young mothers and families as an ideal stopping place. however, whoever the owner is ought to be ashamed of themselves for the following reasons, and address them:1. it a squalid, filthy place with rubbish, detritus, etc littering the floor throughout.2. there were not many people sitting at tables inside. all the tables within my view had not been wiped and were left with dirty plates and cups etc that had not been taken away and in fact had remained there for the duration of our visit.3. idle staff: there were 3 young girls in attendance without any supervision, and they certainly need a good kick up the backside in terms of their work ethic. rather than go and clear the tables and sweep the floor, once orders had become reduced they preferred to talk and text amongst themselves. management supervision?4. dirty cup which was on the back side/edge of my wife's cup of tea.5. slightly overpriced for what it offers.6. well overdue a basic internal refurbishment.a lamentable overall service with other similar options in the same area. whoever the owner/manager is is a total amateur and has well and truly taken their eye of the ball.

Truly awful. Surly and disinterested waitress. Had to repeat the order over and over, even pointing at the items was too hard. It took forever for the food to come. The coffee was cold even when we asked for it to be replaced with hot. Kedgeree was bland, plate was cold. Had to get our own cutlery, salt and pepper. Had to speak to manager who took the coffees and Kedgeree off the bill. Overpriced. Dreadful. Never again.

Its always packed out. Everyone looks the same. Watch out for kids and pushchairs. The coffee is good. The cakes decidely average. Decent location and a welcome stop after a walk across the common. Perfectly fine.

Better and better everytime I go. Very reasonable. Very delicious menu - still working on the cakes. Highly recommend. They also sell Caravan coffee. And a sweet little ice cream cart in summer.

This is one of those cafés which caters mainly to yummy mummies and their kids who want to stop briefly for a fleeting bite to eat after a runaround on The Common. The place was heaving as usual and we were lucky to find a free table. Our kids had scrambled egg on toast with a pair of hot chocolates which were served quickly. Looked good and the kids devoured the food in minutes, so I assume it was tasty! It's not cheap (£6 for a bowl of soup) but it's convenient.

Popped in for a quick hot drink after an autumn walk. The cafe was preparing for a private disco yet there were no signs informing the public of this. As soon as we walked in the door we were made to feel unwelcome and unwanted. We were asked to move to the rear of the cafe however the staff made us feel like we were in the way by moving furniture around us and hitting our buggy ( which had my six month old baby in it!) The staff were clearly stressed and the atmosphere was strained. We could not wait to leave. It was a really sad and disappointing visit.

Visited for their very tasty brunch offerings. Reopened last year by a local couple and rebranded as the Skylark Cafe. Great for families too! Lovely coffee. Can recommend.

Came for a birthday lunch. Great location on Wandsworth Common near the playground. Nice food, nice people. Can recommend!

Just a terrible experience, slow service and rude staff. I hardly ever complain and write very few reviews but felt compelled to do so.Such a good location but such a disappointing experience as this should be a place that cleans up. We have 2 small children and they only start serving food at 12 which is not ideal, but after constant asking about when we could order (and a lot of rude comments), we eventually were 'allowed' to request food at 12.30. Food was overpriced and distinctly average.

The coffees were good, my food disappointing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Maybe too much so, to noisy children. While my friend and I were there, a small child was throwing a plastic toy repeatedly and loudly onto the bare wooden floor - the parents looked on without a thought that this behaviour might be less than delightful. But how can you have a cafe in the middle of Wandsworth Common and not allow dogs?! OK, they're allowed, on leads, on the outside patio. How many months a year do you want to be shivering there, in the rain? If you're looking for a nice place to go after a walk on the Common, or any time really, go to Flotsam & Jetsam, on Wiseton Road, just off of Bellevue. They have really yummy food, even better baked goods, and fabulous coffee. And they allow dogs - inside and outside. Or go to Cafe Nero on Bellevue Road, where dogs are also welcome. If you have a noisy toddler in tow, please feel free to stay at Skylark!

I've been to this cafe a few times since it re-opened and there now seems a perennial problem with the speed of service. A shame as nice to have a cafe in the middle of wandsworth common. Maybe this is a teething problem and will sort itself out.

If you dont have kids its probably not the place to go, however if you do it really is a great spot for lunch or a coffee if you are on Wandsworth Common. Good value food and nice selection for kids. Very family friendly and nice staff.

Great service and very acceptable food for a brasserie / cafe. So much better than the disaster that was the Common Ground until recently. As ever the location is fantastic being in the middle of Wandsworth Common.

This place could be amazing, superb location with loads of young mums and young professionals living closely. We had sandwiches with sour dough and rye bread.Big mistake, as the bread was stale. Staff are indifferent and unable even to get our simple order right. The toilets were filthy and very tired. Definitely would not return

Common ground is one of those places that has great potential but sadly doesn't live up to it.Wandsworth Common is packed with mums, prams and families, and Common Ground is perfectly located for lunch. However, the service, coffee and food lets it down. The food is ok but dull, the coffee is barely drinkable and the service is so slow/bad that most people try and order and pay at the till in order not having to wait for or find a waiter. I am on the common every day, but am now giving Common Ground a wide berth as I find it infuriating that a place with such potential just cannot be bothered to make a minimal amount of effort because they know they'll get the traffic anyway due to proximity to tennis courts/cricket ground and children's play ground.

The cafe only seems interested in grapping your money. Not flexible. Customer services skills lack good direction

Very nicely located in the middle of wandsworth common and near all the playing fields and playgrounds for the kids. They do a BBQ in the summer and lunch menu is simple and good value. Great out door space. Great place for a coffee. The sell really good ice-cream. Very child friendly.

This is a fantastic location for a cafe and we found it to be very good on our visit. The coffee hit spot and our sandwiches were all tasty. Service was efficient rather than friendly, however overall the ambiance was both warm and relaxed.Finished off our meal with a delicious ice cream. Overall a great stopping point on our cycle.

Pleasant council owned cafe with decent environment outside, in the middle of the Common near the bowling green and tennis courts. Building extremely tired and inside in desperate need of some paint and some pictures where the holes from the old ones were located. Loos fairly disgusting.Food now generally awful and has gone noticeably downhill in the last year. Cheeseburger comes with a slice of processed cheese still hard from the fridge. Panini comes with salad over soaked in a vinegar dressing and has loads of potatoes to add to the carbohydrates in the panini. Pies are now dire and you are better off with the sandwiches. Cake selection good.Service usually good which is a highlight.
