the miserable old man is very rood and started shouting at me only because i was sat next to the bwn iach i don’t recommend this place at all after that.

Frozen oven chips and "fresh fish" which has been frozen then defrosted. Tasted like water. Shame as the fresh batter was actually OK. Put some effort in for such a decent location. £10 for fish and chips is a joke for that quality

Had a mr whippy pretty standard.

Nice fresh fish and chips cooked to order for us. Decent portion size. Not the cheapest at £9.50 per person but to be expected on the sea front. Must be under new management since the older negative reviews.

Had mini fish and chips twice quite decent taste if there was enough to taste. what I got for £6.50 per portion about 12 chips and small bit of fish total rip merchant. Check out the photo

This is one of the best chip shops we've been too. I love that the childrens meals are in a bucket too. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you.

For take out food the food was really nice! We can recommend the steak sandwich/baguette, the jumbo hotdog was lovely and also the cheeseburger! Kids meals actually come in a mini bucket and spade set which the kids loved! I even had to go back because my daughter had asked for the jumbo hotdog then cried when she saw her cousin had a meal in a sand bucket 😂🙈 while waiting to be served another lady came back and complimented the cooks on how nice the food was which I thought was nice.

The seaside chips were lovely - and not greasy! Plus, it was good to be able to buy a smaller portion for just £3. I recommend this place!

All the low reviews tell you what you need to know. Asked for Tea and they said can only offer coffee?

Amazing food and amazing staff. Dog friendly place and very accommodating. Couldn't be happier with the food or the view!!

We were extremely shocked by the unfriendly staff member here. Having worked in hospitality for many years and travelling around the country, I have never met such an inhospitable man before. Definetly no service with a smile here... We only ordered 2 items and he seemed so annoyed by any customer's presence. I feel very sorry for any of the staff that have to work alongside him and definetly won't visit again. Having read Richards review below, I believe we are speaking about the same staff member. Shocking that this is an ongoing issue.

Food tasted average but very disapointed with frozen chips espcially by the sea side there should be a law against it. I am from mancheter and my local chippy is 10x better.

On our trip to Barmouth we found a parking space opposite this take away where we thought it would be nice to have fish and chips, Whilst waiting in the queue we noted a large built balding man who was serving being extremely rude to a lady who asked if motorcycles had to pay to park, he then called her a name after she walked away. After seeing this behaviour we decided to find somewhere else, it was the Mermaid fish bar. This man needs reprimanding.

Everyone seems to think that this place is a chippy! Clue is in the Name- SIZZLERS BURGER BAR….. They are not a chippy, so for those saying what an unpleasant Chippy it is.. get your facts right first! There is nothing wrong with the food here… Fish, Chips, Steak, Sausages and most importantly Burgers.. are all very tasty foods. I feel sorry for the staff who are having to work in the heat in there to then have to deal with picky customers… Trip advisor and Reviews is just a place for people to bully and try to ruin small businesses. Maybe before writing a rude review, take into consideration it’s people who are trying to make a living. Find something better to do with your time.

Don't bother unless you like frozen cooked chips and more batter then fish which was like a goldfish

Really expensive. And the fish was like a long Birdseye cod steak. And the chips were not fish and chip chips but instead frozen chips.

Just a complete taste disaster! Frozen chips, and not good frozen chips either, curry sauce so watered down that it tasted like dishwater, totally disgusting, the chips that I had as a replacement were overcooked. Never again!

All round bad experience. First of all the staff were so unpleasant but didn't care because id probably be sad working in the sun too. However the experience just got worse when the food came, terrible cheap sauces for a place that charged £7 for fish and chips when the chips are just frozen rubbish anyway. Only came because the nice chippy was closed but won't do it again . Wouldn't recommend

frozen chips fish with that much batter with a thin sliver of fish 7 pounds worth about 2 pounds tops total rip off and the food was dread full so do not use

Don't listen to the fake good reviews. Someone said its worth a michelin star for crying out loud. Decided to get fish and chips with curry sauce. If anyone has had the haddock or cod type fish and chips before then you will be disappointed here. The fish tasted very bland, the batter was like wet cardboard, the chips were frozen and tasteless, and the curry sauce had more water in it than the sea surrounding Wales (very watered down I'm guessing to maximise profits). That's the food part. The service was depressing too with what looked like the man running the show just pointing customers down the line rather than talking to them like humans, akin to what Auschwitz is made to look like in films. We had a cup of tea and a can of Dr Pepper with the meal which turned out to be the best part actually. Probably because the staff couldn't affect the taste whilst inside the can. Avoid the disappointment and drive to the local tescos for a meal deal, it will be cheaper, more reliable and the self service computer talks to you in a more polite manner.

Truly divine, the fish was to die for. The coke was of a good vintage and served at the correct temperature. I will be back, with the family. If they’ll see me. Thanks.

I've now had a couple of meals at this place and have always found the food of a high quality. I usually suffer from indigestion after a chippy meal, but glad to report no need for the Gaviscon when I eat here!Do tend to have a long wait for the order to be delivered but this is because food is cooked to order.Just wish it was a little cheaper with regards to the price of the food.

Average fish and chips, £6 with frozen chips. Very clean and 5 star food rating.

sizzlers burger bar food is soooooooooo amazing and yummy mouth watering i love going there to order burgers and burgers when i go to barmouth and on my way back home from barmouth there burgers and hotdogs and food are sooo yummy and big it fills you up the staff are very amazing friendly and lovely family who run it iv been going there for years for food i love you guys

After a long bike ride, I decided to treat myself to a waffle which was made fresh and came with local icecream and was delicious. The young lad who was serving was brilliant and helpful. The quality was worth the price. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely be going back to this place

Only gave it one star because zero stars wasn't available. Save yourself the disappointment of frozen chips and plastic sausage by going to a proper chippy. Avoid at all costs!

Having a walk along the front, I was encouraged by the smell and the fairly busy queue to go for some traditional chips. Unfortunately not enjoyable for me. Quite a dry quality to them. Not to my taste at all.

Not proper chips .as in peeled potato. Frozen chips . portion size small .not value for money . . Sorry wouldn't eat there again 😔

I’m not sure they advertise correctly, it says freshly made, well that might be incorrect. As it seems anything is cooked earlier and just reheat it b4 serving, the chips were horrible and the hot dog just about bearable. Don’t waste your money

Had fish chips and curry sauce . The batter on the fish was light and crispy and cooked fresh to order . Staff were friendly and helpful and you have a beach view. What more can you want :)

My family & I visited badmouth for a lovely day out & stopped here for some lunch (its branded up to be a chippy at its location). The food was disgusting. Frozen chips, the batter on fish was burnt to a crisp and fish was soggy. They don't serve certain sides such as curry sauce. The toilets in this establishment are dirty, strong smell of urine in the toilet area and on the floor. Tables were dirty, not properly cleaned. Definetly not an eating establishment I'll be visiting again.

Just passing through Barmouth and took a stroll along the beach front and found Sizzlers. Our food was cooked fresh, fish and chips. The fish was beautifully cooked and flaked apart nicely. Price was reasonable especially with its location right on the seafront.

Lovely place right on the beach. Nice sitting, bit expensive but thats to be expected. But the young lad servicing has soul distorting service! I've never seen someone so unhappy to serve you.

Mistakenly stopped here for food. The staff member was happy to ignore my wife...she had to ask for service despite being the only customer there!The meal looked ok but when I started to cut into the fish I found the batter to be uncooked inside. The fish was the thinest sliver of mush... I could not identify it!I am 48 and have never taken a meal back but this was terrible! I asked a girl behind the counter what fish it was and she didn't know so got the manager. To be fair to him he apologised and explained it was a slow day and this could happen when batter was put in the fridge. I took the refund instead of the fresh meal that he offered. Dear Owner, please serve decent sized, properly cooked fillets and remind staff that civility costs nothing, it will make their day more pleasurable and will help your profit margin.

A holiday treat, fresh cooked sugared do-nuts, can't comment on other foods as have only ever purchased their do-nuts - every year for as long as we can remember - do-nuts as good as ever!!!

Coffee like dish water, fish not cod. Once you took the batter off we eventually found what they said was fish. Absolutely disgusting won’t eat there again. Steer clear take sandwiches instead.

Visited here after the beach. Very popular place with visitors. The chips were nice, food well cooked & relatively fast service. There are lovely tables with umbrellas you can eat at and a lovely view of the sea is an added bonus. Great 👍

Large group of us went to barmouth having a beach day...Lunch we decided to have chips and this was near to where we were sitting on the beach...So rather than all go at once we went in small numbers... Even then we were waiting in the queue for 20 mins.The man doing the chips has two speeds.... ..slow and even slower..Friends commented that a sausage and chips were the same price as fish and chips...£5The man serving barely acknowledged we were thereWhen we got served it was not the fresh chips expected... jusr frozen ones...So for the price. Miserable attitude and service and poor quality product ...i would have given it zero stars but i cant...so its 1 starIf you have time... walk into town ...

Was here bank holiday weekend, fish & chips was delicious. Even managed some doughnuts for afters. We were a group of 12 & although there was a wait, as it was so busy, it was definitely worth it! See you next year 😋 🍟🍔🌭🍩😋

Popped her for a cuppa and some doughnuts. Was nice to sit outside with the dogs and enjoy a relaxed cuppa. Was all lovely.

Visited Barmouth for a family holiday over the bank holiday weekend. There was a queue for food so thought it must be good. Watched the lad pour frozen chips in the fryer and a frozen fish that looks like a Birdseye fish. Really disappointed with the quality as there are plenty of other chips shops in the town that are probably better. You would think being situated on the beach front it would be great but I was sadly mistaken.

Friendly staff, good steak and onion baguette, they even asked how I wanted the steak cooked. All cooked fresh in front of you.

Hubby and I were walking along The Prom when we decided to indulge in a donut. The kiosk is adjacent to the Burger Bar. The 2 young ladies serving were very friendly and polite. The donuts were 60 pence for 1 or £2 for 4. We had 2 (£1.20). We waited whilst they were freshly fried. We declined the sugar shaker. We walked towards the RLNI and leaned up against a wall (couldn't sit down because all the seats were wet after the thunderstorm). We opened the bag in anticipation but were disappointed to see how small the rings were. When we bit into them they were full of nothing and tasted very bland.

Stopped off whilst on walk around town after smelling doughnuts cooking,they were 4 for £2,we had to have some,they were fresh hot and tasty made to order.
