Ordered tuna sandwich. My wife and I shared a tuna sandwich. Service slow but not too concerned as sat outside in sun and had drinks. When sandwich arrived the bread was stale. An adjoining table had a couple who also ordered bread meals. They left their food on the table untouched and left.

Just like the last review - awful service today - we only ordered 4 drinks - it literally took half an hour to be served - go somewhere else.

visited this cafe yesterday with some friends for lunch and to say i was disappointed would be a huge understatement. The staff were not only unfriendly but took ages making our drinks and food which they got mostly wrong and even told us some of the drinks were correct even when we saw the receipt was not what we ordered. All in all, a really unfriendly and unwelcoming place- would not recommend, much better places for affordable and tasty lunch options further on in the lanes.

Tonnes of gluten free options, really nice coffee, and they now sell acai smoothies ❤️ The owner Zoe is lovely and it's very reasonably priced for the North Laine. Will be back soon.

When we are in town, me and my husband always go to this pretty café for a cup of tea or latte. Their ‘home made’ chocolate cake is actually made in heaven. There’s a perfect sunny spot in the back garden, blanket provided for chilly days.

Terrible service. Incredibly slow they forgot everyone’s orders. Staff have no idea what they are doing. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Waited 35 minutes for a coffee. Which was burnt.

Have been here twice now with a friend as it's close to our office and not in a hurry to go back. Our first visit ended up with my order being wrong and today's visit ended up with my friend's order having something missed off. It's also expensive for what you get, paying £6.50 for two sausages between 2 slices of sourdough bread. Service is also very slow.

great people, smoothie was a fair price! also gave me lemon and honey water :) helpful suggestion for my sore throat. bathrooms available and back patio and downstairs area was all lovely. smoothie was so good (i got mangos blueberries strawberries raspberries and bananas which is all except pineapple) super good, will come again!!

11AUG22.... visited Brighton needed refreshments & lunch. Found this pink fronted cafe which looked very inviting... had a dairy free iced coffee & tuna mayo brown sandwich - just what I needed. Spoke with Hebe, her first day at this cafe, on vacation from Uni. What a fab young lady, extremely friendly & so polite....her parents must be so very proud of her. Well done Hebe, 1st class customer service. Good luck at Uni & for your future. Hugs 🤗

Whenever we visit Brighton, we stop off at Sixteen. Always clean and bright, with a great menu. I'm always tempted by their toasted bacon and cheese sandwich which is absolutely delicious. Often followed by a slice of one of their homemade cakes. The propriortors are really friendly and you're always made to feel welcome. Highly recomeded.

Tasty toasties and great iced coffee but slow service! We waited about 30 mins for 3 toasties (2 the same) which we felt was a bit long! Would visit again though :)

I've used Sixteen since they opened and always like to have a coffee, sandwich and a cake or a full breakfast! The staff are very nice and friendly and the cafe has a downstairs area, toilets along with a great outside peaceful patio space. They have a range of different milk options along with really great tasting coffee and excellent vegan flapjacks! I would highly recommend it here.

Great coffee in a well located cafe. I went there to do a bit of reading and as the sunshine was proving a bit distracting I moved further inside. Upon doing so the manager (I presume) came up to me and asked me if I could please not ‘stay for hours’ as I had my iPad with me. At this point I had been there for half an hour. I understand where this was coming from - Brighton has a big student population and I am aware of the tendency to buy one drink and stay for hours on end. However I would recommend having a sign which specifies the length of time customers are allowed to stay (as I believe the bigger chains such as Starbucks do) to prevent this from happening.

We came across this little cafe when walking through the lanes. The sandwiches are delicious and of a generous portion, served on a black square slate. I had the tuna melt on granary bread, which was very fresh.with loads of filling. The cappuccino coffee was lovely and hot and of a smooth flavour. We sat upstairs in a small light room, simply decorated but really clean. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Recommend this to everyone! If I lived in Brighton I would go back next week.

Great. We (my 16yo daughter and I) loved it. Relaxed and friendly vibe and matching staff. Also, and this helps, the coffee was good and the toasted ham & cheese croissants were exactly what we were hoping for. A haven.

We had wondered around the North Laines and needed somethin to warm us up as it was getting cold; this superb little place cam into view and in we popped. In short order two delicious spicy Lentil soups where placed in front of us along with warm toasted bread. The soup and toast were both really well seasoned and so very tasty, just did the trick. The place itself is nice, clean, tidy and has a wonderful outdoor seating area as well as seating to the front so you can people watch.

Quite basic but nice cakes . Has a lovely back garden with tables in which I only found when I went to the loo which looked very nice to sit out in. Good place to sit and people watch!!!

I bought a round of delicious homemade cakes (strawberry & pistachio, vegan chocolate fudge and carrot cake) from Cafe Sixteen this week for a friend's birthday and they went down brilliantly. They also do really nice coffee and other homecooked food all more reasonably priced than some of the other cafes in the area.

this little coffee cafe is like an oasis among the huge choice in Sydney street it has a excellent choice of Drinks but what makes the difference is the wonderful cakes all made in-house served with a fork. they also do snack meal meals made fresh to order - they have a quiet area downstairs with a sofa and outside seating (on the street) there is a single step at the entrance and a child's high chair if needed

By far the best handmade breakfast with great varieties of drinks and homemade sourdough. Super friendly staff

We were sheltering from the rain in this lovely little café. They served the lightest and fluffiest Waffle that I'd ever had (accompanied by perfectly cooked Egg and really tasty bacon). Warm welcome and great customer service. Very reasonably priced too.

This is an underused cafe that deserves more clientele. The food is always tasty and excellent value for money. The owner and his wife deliver very friendly service and you're left alone in peace once you've got your food. It's not a big place but it does have a relaxing space downstairs along with a patio garden, table and chairs. In the main café there are window seats for people watching. There are vegetarian options and the portion size is generous. There are also toilets downstairs. I would give it a try if you're in the area.

This is a little gem. We had baguettes and a pot of tea. Brie and bacon, and smoked chicken salad...both were excellent, tasty and freshly made...but I’m just going to have to try the soup next time, tomato and lentil...yum. Got to admit I spent my time looking at what other people were having to eat and kept thinking oh that looks so yummy! Staff are great too.

Wonderful friendly atmosphere, owned and run by a husband and wife. I love going here with a friend or two as well as alone when working or reading a book. I love all their food especially their baguettes, everything is freshly made. The owners are so kind and nice, they always remember me when I go. There's a very homely downstairs and little garden out the back it's very quiet and peaceful despite being in the middle of a very busy part in brighton. Lovely stop off for a hot chocolate, downstairs they have many fun books for kids (e.g. where's wally, art attack books etc.) If you want the experience the true vibes of an independen, friendly cafe when visiting brighton I would highly recommend.

I went here for a coffee and ended up buying a slice (generous) of carrot cake and a hot chocolate, as you do. The carrot cake was moist and very tasty. I eat it to quick to take a picture. The cafe is very peaceful and relaxed unlike many others.

I love Sixteen because it's so peaceful. I'm a world where every coffee shop seems to want to double as a nightclub, it makes a refreshing change to be able to sit quietly and contemplate over a coffee. I regularly eat here too, and the food is always fresh and tasty. The staff are lovely too.

En una necesidad desesperada de tomar un refrigerio mientras exploramos la gran cantidad de calles comerciales tropezamos con Sixteen. Era media tarde y solo había otra mesa ocupada en el café, dijo, tuvimos que sentarnos afuera porque cada otra mesa estaba cubierta de vajilla sucia.Nuestro pedido fue rápidamente tomado y nos sentamos afuera, desafortunadamente la única mesa libre estaba cubierta de detritus de los comensales anteriores, así que tuvimos que limpiarla nosotros mismos. According to their website I was expecting to be somewhere fabulous but found just an average cafe. A reasonable selection of food and cakes but dog eared menus and tables needing cleaning. The cake, tea and coffee was okay but nothing special.

Me encontré con Sixteen que parecía sin pretensiones, lea el menú y la sopa casera a las 2. 50 parecía demasiado bueno para ser cierto, pero entré y me sorprendió gratamente. Lenteja picante servida con Ciabatta. Muy buena sopa, servicio amable. No pude ver el jardín porque era un día frío de diciembre. Voy a hacer un punto de eso la próxima vez. Recomendado.

Mi pareja y yo disfrutamos de tener un brunch. La patata pasteles fritos con bacon y huevo y la patata tartas con aguacate fueron excelentes. Realmente disfruté el café, lo que llena un ponche de sabor sin ser amargado o duras. Resultó ser un paraíso verdadero cuando cualquier otro sitio estaba muy ocupado para las vacaciones. Han de estar acogedora planta baja también y un pequeño jardín que debe ser agradable en verano. Además, como visitante a Brighton, me complace ver que los precios no eran tan molesto como cualquier otro sitio parece ser. El precio me pareció muy razonable para comida de buena calidad y la bebida. El personal es muy agradable. Apreciamos mucho!

Lovely simple cafe. Many options where to sit, normal seats in cafe, high seats in cafe, sofas in living room or in quiet patio garden. Menu is simple but sourced locally and fresh. Great taste great quality and great service too.

We were looking for a late lunch in the Laines with our two toddlers. We wanted something nice for us plus a simple ham sandwich for the kids. Ideally we also wanted somewhere with seating away from the traffic and with a little space as our 14 month old was fed up if being held.Sixteen worked out perfectly.Qwe had the potato cakes, egg, spinach and bacon which was great. Our little ones got a ham sandwich. Then we all shared a waffle and ice cream. I would add that the fresh smoothies are great.Best if all, Sixtenn has a patii out the back with seating. So we were able to relax fully and let our son stretch his legs a little.

Visited on a sunny August afternoon. The service was friendly and sincere. Sat in the lovely courtyard in the back which was mostly in the shade by mid-afternoon，but I don't like sitting in the direct sun so that suited me just fine. I had a chai late and a generous slice of carrot cake. Both were delicious. This place is a nice spot of calm only minutes from the station. I'd come back again.

If there is one thing the North Laine area of Brighton isn't short of its cafes. This one may not look so different from the others but you can be sure of a warm welcome, good flavour coffee, and an amazing selection of cakes. If you venture downstairs you will find a small garden hidden away. It can be a lovely suntrap in the right weather. Try it! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I came here with my boyfriend for a coffee and a smoothie, both were lovely. We sat by the window which was a perfect spot for people watching. Prices were reasonable. Free Wi-Fi. Garden not as nice as it could be. very plain. Customer service was fine.

We called in last weekend and were given a very warm welcome. The food was excellent and very good value. They have a very varied menu with lots of choice.

Sunday lunch early November. Friendly welcome and then downhill all the way. Took time to take a drinks order - the place was practically empty. Then another delay before they asked about food. Ordered starters and mains. (Pointed at our choices on the menu.) Started arrived. Not bad. Then another long delay. After prompting they chased up the order. Another delay before the wrong food turned up. Only then did they point out that most of the menu is "off" on Sunday. (Roast pork, but no pork cutlets.) A new, smaller menu suddenly appeared. Worn down by then, we gave up and left. At least they didn't charge for the drinks. But we didn't want a liquid lunch.

Popped in her yesterday fro lunch. Their hom made soup ( spicy lentil) which was served with bread and butter was just delicious. Just hit the spot on a cold , wet Saturday. My friends had toasted panini and loved them too. The carrot cake was a,so delicious! I'll be back.

There are a huge number of cafes in the North Laines area offering a wide variety of food. Sixteen has excellent coffee and cakes and very inexpensive sandwiches, paninis, etc. Staff were friendly. I had a hot sausage bap which was freshly cooked for me and was very tasty and not greasy. Cakes all looked home made and coffee was very fine. Prices seemed very low for Brighton. Will definitely go again.
