Had a great evening on the 23rd November at Byres Road the food and service in the restaurant was great but unfortunately we were overcharged by £120. We were a table of 4 and celebrating 2 birthdays and we chose the wine paring for our meal . Dut due to a mix up with someone else’s table we payed £240 instead of £120 ! We tried to call on Sunday morning but the nobody answered the phone so we drove up to Byres Road and presented our receipt. At this point we got an apology and we’re told that they would pass it on to your customer service department and we would get a refund within 3-5 days . We waited 5 days and still no refund! We then contacted the customer service department and we were told they knew nothing about it as the restaurant had forgotten to send this over to them ! We then sent our receipt to customer service team and we still hadn’t received our refund after another 5 days waiting. We then got a call from customer service department saying they couldn’t refund the card we used to pay for the meal and the asked for our bank details so they could do a bank transfer so we have provided this information and we’re told this could take 5-10 days to process! So now waiting on this to happen. It’s such a shame this has put a damper on our special evening 🙁 Update 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 Now it’s the 11th December and still no refund !!!! What is going on there are you guys short of cash and can’t refund me the overcharge!!!! Now the 12th December still no refund can’t call you as no one answers the phone . Now I’m getting concerned 😡

We had heard great things about the Chippie menu and were eager to try it ourselves. The 10 course tasting menu is a clever idea and each course is a spin on traditional chip shop dishes. Most of the food we ate was pretty good, the only real let down was the Scotch egg. This comes as half a haggis-wrapped egg served with piccalilli. It was awful. The yolk was rubbery and the piccalilli was tasteless. Seeing we had barely touched the food the lovely waitress offered to have a new plate made. We didn’t want to go through that again. Only other issue was some of the hot dishes were served on stone cold plates.

Absolutely amazing! We did the ten course chippie menu with the wonderful wine pairing and absolutely loved it! Fantastic food, wine and service. Can’t wait for our next trip!

I Visited tonight (29th November) with my husband for a celebratory dinner. Food was exceptional, some of the best I’ve had in Glasgow. The service could also not be faulted. Staff were attentive, quick and generally lovely. However, our evening was completely tainted by the behaviour of who I presume to be the manager on shift. She was a blonde, younger woman and the way we heard her speaking to her staff was appalling. Having worked in hospitality for years, we on multiple occasions, overheard her berate and micromanage her staff who were already doing a fantastic job. We even overheard her tell one of the young girls that she couldn’t go to the toilet because they had “a turnover in 15 minutes”. In what world is this the way to treat people who work hard for you? Probably on minimum wage. Unfortunately this ruined our entire experience and despite the fantastic service and exceptional food, we will not be returning and will be advising friends and family to avoid somewhere that treats their staff like so. Managers should be your company’s biggest asset, not your downfall and I just hope this manager bucks up her ideas!

This brand was initially a great idea. I've been many times. But I wont be going ever again. The company clearly has grown and now its all about making money. I did the Land of Oz menu. £44 each ...BUT immediately upselling with extra courses and extra drinks pushed by staff. I had the extra starter at £10 not worth it and now they offer an extra course. I took that. It wasn't an extra course it was just a skewer with some pork and two prawns served at the same time as the chicken. I took the cocktail pairing with the menu at an extra £40. Totally not value for money and seriously underwhelmed with the watered down drinks. Cocktails all just looked like an average drink. Plus what they dont tell you is the first drink comes at the second course.....yes another opportunity to upsell and squeeze more money out of you by ordering another drink. Staff constantly change here and are clearly trained to rattle off a script on the food. ,there is no passion anymore. Its just a bunch of students serving you and uninterested in their job. Meal was very average, one course was cold. Then the bill was presented along with card machine before we had even finished our drinks. Again it was a case of give us your money. Total will was £210 for 2 people. For that money you could go to much better restaurants in west end and have a fabulous meal served by people that are good at their job. If you're young and never been here before try once... but dont take any of the upselling or the cocktails as not value for money. If you've been before I'd sadly recommend to try somewhere else or your pockets will be emptied.

Not the dining experience it pertains to be. Food was certainly tasty and well presented but lukewarm. Twice dishes were removed from my partner while she was still eating. It all felt a bit rushed, casual and the staff we encountered were off hand and disinterested. The theme ‘Istanbul’ was represented in the choice of food served but that was it. The music playing was modern disco. The place is too bright and lacks atmosphere. A charity donation and service charge are added to the bill. When I asked our waitress why these were already included in the total as opposed to us being asked to have them included her response was that probably at the weekend people have had a lot to drink and don’t notice they are there! Nibbles cost extra. Never worth £120 for two with no alcohol, only water and one soft drink.

We went on a Tuesday night, for the new tasting menu vip experience. The food is actually ok, there were 2 good dishes and one mehhhh, the issue was the service. The waitress pulled our first course dishes away as we were putting down our cutlery, on our second course my partner was still eating whilst she came to lift the plates. I said please let us finish the course before you take the plates away, just let us finish the course before taking the plates, her response was “ you are finished “ and I pointed out my partner was still chewing her last bite , there was actually some food still on the plate. This response was stated like a teennage girl, which took me aback, I’ve never been spoken to like that at a restaurant, the waitress then spent the rest of the night giving us dirty looks and ignoring our table. By way of punishment she left us sitting forever between middle 2 courses, which ntill a man served is. She was Huffing As if we were the problem or had said something out of turn. The guy delivering the food was nice but he has a terrible habit of resting both hands on the table and leaning over you whilst talking through the course, which was very off putting, why lean on the table ? Is this a canteen? The food is expensive for the courses, you are rushed through and the “extras” are crazy expensive, if you add rude huffy untrained staff you end up dissatisfied with the place. Please please please front of house TRAIN YOUR STAFF. We weren’t asked how our meal was

We have been to SBN a good few times but were a bit apprehensive after reading recent reviews. We had no need to be, food was amazing as always, had the Tokyo menu again and was just as tasty as the first time. We were served by Laura who was exceptional, we were given 3 bottles of water without asking and offered fresh drinks well before our glass was empty. Laura was very professional but also very personable and made the experience that bit more special. Glad we decided to try it again. Don't be put off by the negative reviews, go try for yourself.

I dined there on Saturday with my sister and we had such a lovely experience. Firstly, the food was sublime. We had the Tokyo menu and it was delicious. Food was presented beautifully and the flavours were sensational. But.... what made the experience amazing was the attitude of the staff. We were a little late due to the horrendous traffic and they couldn't have been more kinder and understanding. Nothing was too much bother and the manager was very attentive and engaging. Thank you so much. We will be back!

We went here for my fiancé’s birthday during the Mexican menu. He has a severe nut allergy and I made them aware when booking and wrote in the notes section that he has a nut allergy. When we sat down no one asked about allergens or mentioned of the known allergen so we made them aware from the start as we knew some of the courses had almonds and pecans which are an absolute no go for him. I had also emailed about it being his birthday and they said they would do something special for him. Birthday and nut allergy were ignored and forgotten. Every single course we had to remind them of his allergy as the waitress seemed clueless on what she was serving us. I also reminded her that it was his birthday and she seemed to have no idea about this and just gave us a free glass of Prosecco halfway through the meal which didn’t particularly feel very special. For the dessert, my fiancé was handed a pecan cake. We had to literally tell the waitress that pecans are nuts and she looked embarrassed and took it back to the kitchen. It’s lucky we had read the menu in detail before we went as this could’ve ended up in a trip to A&E. Food was also not worth the money. £42 for deep fried sweetcorn? I don’t think so. Very disappointed.

This was the Greek menu. Oh dear, the food was very average and I had the sense it was part prepped elsewhere. I've never been to somewhere where you can't get a 175ml glass of wine, it was either 125ml or 250ml, which felt sneaky. I felt rather sorry for the waiting staff who clearly aren't well managed or valued. The reciting of the menu description as they bring the plates adds nothing. I asked what one of the ingredients in a cocktail was and the waitress didn't know. Nico's is a chain now, spend your money at somewhere simpler with better cooking.

Booked this menu for our first visit to Six By Nico because we love Greece and thought this was a good one to start with. Couldn’t have been more underwhelmed with our experience. Food was mediocre at best and bore no more than a fleeting nod to Greek traditions. We got off on the wrong foot straightaway with chunks of cucumber mixed with Greek yoghurt which they called tzatziki. All down hill from there apart from honey dessert which was delicious. Generally questionable seasoning. Service was quick but staff were sullen, disinterested and fake. Their descriptions of the courses were badly rehearsed and generally felt like they didn’t want to be there. To receive a 12.5% service charge for this was annoying. In summary we didn’t enjoy our Six By Nico experience and won’t be back. Feels much like a chain restaurant with a fine dining price tag. Not for us!

This was an expensive let down. Trying to be constructive and never do this but it was honestly so poor for a host of reasons. Firstly, the staff. You expect a friendly hello but this was so lacklustre for a.place that's go out a good reputation. The Waiter that clocked us tried to avoid eye contact but knew he'd need to seat us so came over. Monotone hello, barely registers us and starts looking to see what table we can have. Eventually finds one and takes us over. Then...nothing. we timed 11 mins before he came back and said he'd get us menus. The look of the staff was weird...not busy or stressed, happy or whatever...just miserable. Everything was salty. The portions were tiny. I get it, a tasting menu, but allow us to actually have the chance to taste it more than once before it's all gone. It was laughable. The table next to us were saying that same thing. The cringe bit is getting the unenthused staff to read exactly what is on the menu when putting down the plate. That does not make it some kind of upmarket place. Just a huge disappointment. Will not come back and should have listened to friends.

A fantastic pleasant evening at this beautiful venue. First time. Zero expectation. I was just looking forward to enjoy the company of amazing close friends. We walked in, great buzz, nice background music, incredible atmosphere. We were approached by Aidan. Really happy to welcome us and very professional. Showed us the table and off we go with our evening. Greek tasting night with matching wine. Absolutely spectacular food and delicious wine to compliment! I was extremely taken by the delicious food and the knowledge of the description while serving. I appreciated every dish and enjoyed every minute at Six by Nico. Thanks once again for the incredible night!

Six by Nico used to be truly fabulous when it opened it's first wee restaurant at Finnieston. We went along on the very first day. Nico did the cooking and it was insanely good Our 'Hanoi" experience this weekend at Byres Rd was just horrendous. (to be honest we had been last month, and it was dreadful too, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought it was maybe just a bad day). This experience left no doubt in my mind that the place has gone to the dogs. It was overcrowded, the food was bland and tasteless, the staff were disinterested I had the vegetarian menu, and my husband the non veggie one. We compared how bad each of our courses were. We, mistakingly, did the wine pairing. The wines were all lined up on the bar area - and had been pre poured. This meant warm white wine. The quality of the wine has also gone way downhill. The couple next to us sent back their red wine. I watched the waitress put it on top of the bar, among all the other pre poured glasses waiting to be served! The dishes were described parrot fashion by each member of staff. One girl even came and said as she presented one course - 'I have no idea what this is" and leaned over and grabbed the menu from under my plate and read it out. Even when the staff were taking away our plates of uneaten food, they never asked if everything had been ok. I would say the worst two courses were the beef and sloppy noodles my husband had and the slice of raw cauliflower and wee black burnt crispy ball that I had. The butternut squash starter was mushy like baby food. Honestly, we must have been to Six by Nico more than 20 times since opening, and it has been a slow and steady decline. They have opened far too many places too quickly, and just let all standards drop. I actually wrote a review on social media, and I can't believe how many people commented that they had just had a similar very bad experience. I'd be very happy to share these comments to anyone who is interested That's us done.....we will not be back. Sad, but true

Mmmh after waiting a long time to experience six by nico we were realy disappointed. We travelled from Uddingston to Byres Rd via train and subway as we wanted to enjoy a nice meal and drink - The restaurant was busy and very very load , tables way to close together and had to keep moving our drinks so the next table could get up to go to toilet - starter was fab but needed another bit of bread - 2 ducks halved and only 3 bits of bread ? Second course was terrible -tepid tasteless voluti-no thanks - 3 rd course cold beef and potato !! -passed on the 4th as I don’t like fish but we had to wait ages until we had to ask for my partners to come - 5th pork dish again unsure if it was meant to be a hot or cold dish as it was all tepid and chewy ,didn’t finish it - desert was lovely but realy didn’t look or was presented like the toffee apple on your web site pics !! Over 2 hrs later and we left deflated and a tad hungry - would i return - no tbh

We are frequent customers of Six by Nico on Argyle Street and have never had any issues, however we had lunch at their Byres Road branch today and we were extremely disappointed. The food although good came out either cold or tepid warm. There seemed to be issues with service as we had to wait a lot time between courses and saw food on the pass that sat for a long time. We also sat with empty plates for at least 20 minutes before any staffed cleared them away. The whole lunch took over 2 and a half hours and staff seemed unenthusiastic. Very disappointed and very reluctant to go back hoping their city centre branch might be better.

My third time visiting six by nico and my first at this restaurant. Good staff but not the best menu (fairground). It hasn't tarnished my view of the overall brand though

We were excited about trying the food themed Fairground. The staff were trying hard but were clearly fed up repeatedly telling people the same spiel about the food. Every course arrived tepid which made some of it unpleasant to eat. The first two courses were amazing, after that it was all down hill with poor quality food and it felt more thought went into the theme rather than the food. We were very disappointed diners. Been there done it won't again.

This was an excellent experience and my first ever 6-course menu tasting. Staff were very attentive from the start, taking our coats and efficiently explaining the restaurant's unique way of serving dishes and the options to add wine pairing. We ultimately chose to add wine pairing along with their "Funfair" themed 6-courser. All of the dishes were presented eloquently and were packed full of flavour, with the server presenting us with a glass of wine at the beginning of each course, explaining its country of origin and the various flavours we would find. It very cleverly kept to its theme, with deconstructed beef burgers and even a corndog dish - the menu was executed perfectly. The noteable dish being a delicious "toffee apple" dessert paired with a gorgeous sparkling dessert wine. The staff was great, the vibe was warm and cozy and the food was delicious. Would definitely come back.

Last night was my first time at Six by Nico and was really looking forward to it. The restaurant was loud and had a real canteen feel about it. The service was okay but we really struggled to hear what the waitress was explaining to us. Also being able to see all the pre poured drinks at the bar made the place just feel much like a chain. The food was obviously very well presented but didn't really feel that special due to the atmosphere and noise in the restaurant. I suppose I can say I have tried it but probably wont again.

Fantastic from start to finish! Arrived at the Byers Road restaurant a bit early, but was shown to our table by a friendly staff member and given some time to look at the drinks menu. We opted to try some of the cocktails on the ‘Once upon a time’ menu. The Glass slipper was fantastic (reminded me of Um bongo!), my Fiancé had the butterbeer and although it was a bit too much on the sweet side for him, he still enjoyed it. Dinner was superb! The staff explained every course as we went along and answered any questions we had. My fave was the smoked ham hough sandwich… DE-LISH! One of the girls tending to us was only on her 2nd shift and she done fantastic given everything she had to remember. The guy who was also looking after us was (sorry I didn’t catch names) was so friendly and helpful. I was celebrating my birthday and he brought us over some glasses of Prosecco on the house which was a lovely touch. In all we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and can’t wait for the next menu! Well done everyone.

No volveré.
