The best South Indian food around northeast

I had veg pulavu, fish pollichathu, chicken roast and poratta really taste like authentic Indian food. I never had such a culinary taste of Kerala in Middlesbrough.

"Food Poisoning for Half Our Group – Very Disappointing!" A group of six of us dined at this hotel's restaurant yesterday at 5 PM, and the experience was terrible. We ordered chicken roast and chicken curry, and unfortunately, three people who ate the chicken fell seriously ill with food poisoning later that evening. The symptoms were severe, and it completely ruined our stay. It’s shocking that a hotel of this standard would serve food that clearly wasn’t handled or prepared properly. Food safety should be a top priority, but it seems it’s completely neglected here. If you care about your health, I would strongly advise avoiding the food at this hotel. We will definitely not be coming back, and I hope management takes this issue serious.

"Severe Food Poisoning – Avoid at All Costs!" A group of six of us dined at this hotel's restaurant yesterday at 5 PM, and it was a complete disaster. We ordered porotta, chicken roast, and chicken curry. The chicken curry, in particular, was horrible, and we immediately started feeling discomfort after the meal. Three of us who ate the chicken dishes ended up with severe food poisoning shortly after. The pain and sickness ruined the rest of our day, and it’s clear that the food was not prepared safely. This is unacceptable, and we are extremely disappointed with the quality and hygiene standards here. I strongly urge anyone considering dining here to think twice. Food safety should never be compromised, and this hotel clearly has serious issues with it. Will not be returning and hope the management takes immediate action to prevent this from happening to others.

I went to this restaurant today.and spent over 100 pounds for the foods.but i felt very disappointed in the food quality.dont go anyone to this restaurant dont waste your money and enjoyment.

We spent over £80 that food wasn’t good and. Also we took home 3kothu parota it’s not nice toomuch gravy and it’s not spice it’s sweet I can’t recommend this restaurant unless if they make improvements in the food quality

The food was a bit too spicy for my taste buds. Kothuporata was not as expected. But Thalaseri biryanis was nice as it was the special dish of the day. We had Kallu there.

I recently dined at Mint Leaf and had a great experience. The ambiance is cozy, and the food is flavorful. The biryani was aromatic and well-spiced, and both the beef roast and kappa biryani were exceptional. The mango lassi was amazing. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times. The restaurant is also quite affordable. Overall, a lovely spot for tasty and reasonably priced south Indian cuisine!

Food is not fresh, they serve coconut chutney with mix of something else, and it does not taste like coconut chutney. They serve dosa with small portions of sambar and chutney. when we order chicken fried rice and chicken curry for parotta, the chicken used for the curry does not taste good and also they used boiled chicken (to increase self life for the chicken )for fried rice.

I recently visited mint leaf and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. The most frustrating aspect was the significant delay in service. We had to wait for almost an hour overall, which is completely unacceptable. Despite the restaurant's ambiance and food quality, the lack of time management ruined the experience. If you're considering dining here, be prepared for a long wait. Until they improve their service speed, I can't recommend this place.

Today I ordered 3 chicken mandi through just eat. After 1hr long wait they cancelled the order with a note they can't make it. As per the menu it was their today 's special item. If you can't make it, don't put in in your menu.

I recently visited Mint Leaf restaurant with friends, and we had an amazing time. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor. Few days ago I ordered Chicken Biriyani when I came and open The box it’s watery because It’s reheated Food From Freezer, and I order Chicken Manchurian I never ever experienced in my life those kind of Preparations Only soya sauce no Other Sauce and to much salty. I attended a retirement party there. We were served a good selection of food, both vegetarian and meat. Speeches helped to make the evening a good one. I cannot comment on attending there for a meal.

Best Authentic Indian restaurant around the area. Even though some dishes lacks the taste of original cuisine, overall good. Kerala Porotta - excellent. Over the time they have improved the quality, and the only Indian Restuarant (Kerala) I recommend to friends.

I went to this place two weeKs back and it was really good. The place is really clean and cozy. The staff was so friendly and very good customer service. We tried different foods like kappa biriyani, kothu porotta chicken, beef biriyani, beef kondattam and porotta. Everything was so good spclly the beef kondattam and porotta and kappa biriyani. Authentic kerala food it is. And all dishes were worth the price. Quantity was also good. I would definitely recommend this place if you want kerala food.

Located in an excellent spot with ample parking, this restaurant offers a comfortable and well-designed seating area. However, if you're seeking quality food, this is not the place. We tried the beef dry and beef korma with poratta. The curry and beef were disappointing, lacking flavor and freshness, though the poratta was decent. Unfortunately, after our meal, we experienced stomach issues at home. Dear Srikar management, please pay attention to food hygiene and cleanliness. Overall, the dining experience left much to be desired despite the promising location and setup.

Great food, good portion sizes and all very testy. Service was a bit slow but owner took the time to say hello and check we had enjoyed the meal. Would come back and would recommend. Mutton curry was great!

Tasty Kerala Cuisine with the perfect ambience

Fantastic experience dining at Mint Leaf. The food was excellent quality, all staff were helpful and friendly, and the restaurant just had a great feel to it! Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants some amazing Indian food. Can’t wait to return!

I had the parotta along with the lamb korma and beef masala, and it was excellent. The parotta was freshly made and large -definitely not frozen. The korma was rich and creamy. I personally found the portions reasonable for the price with a short wait time, albeit it wasn't busy when I went. Overall, nothing to fault, and will definitely be back to try the other options.

Would not recommend anyone to come here if I could I would vote 0 food came out at different times for a table of 7 people the service was slow took 20 mins for the first dish

Awful.place staff are horrendous

Wow!!! Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic South Indian flavors and cooked to perfection. From the crispy dosas to the flavorful curries and fragrant biryanis, each bite was a journey through the rich culinary heritage of South India. Staffs also very kind and helpful.. 😍

Work took me from London to Yorkshire area for 2 weeks .Giving a 5 star simply because of authentic taste and decent customer service . The porotta was amazing and the beef curry(eat in) was one of the most authentic I have tasted in the UK . The beef was soft and really good portion . The kappa and fish curry(takeaway) was also great tasting . Only one suggestion, the spice level was good for me as a malayali but they may have to temper it down for people like my partner who are not Indians . I myself was sweating while eating because of the heat from the spices but I thoroughly enjoyed it . Hope they can adjust the spice level if I come with my wife so she can enjoy the food as well.

Asked for a table for one was told to sit anywhere,1st table I went to was dirty, 2nd table I sat at was under the aircon which was blasting out hot air Waiting to be given a menu 5 minutes past the waitress looks a me whilst taking an order from the next table then walks away with the menus And the other waiter stands at the front desk chatting Another 5 mins still nothing so I walk out !

I ordered a lamb biriyani i don't know who plated it i think they should know whats the meaning of a portion and how much to plate it... Literally they gave me very less rice 10% of biriyani rice for 90% of lamb pieces which is unfair not worth for 10 pound disappointed very much... Hope they sort out this by plating it everytime with correct amounts of rice and meat so that its suits the price of menu

Loved the food. Authentic South Indian Kerala taste. Each dish has its own unique taste which is not the case with a lot of Indian restaurants where all curries have the same flavor. The quality of Malabar porotta was excellent. We have driven down from Newcastle a couple of times just for the food. Worth the drive. Hope they keep this up.

ordered food through deliveroo, rang the restaurant to make a change as a sauce that usually comes for free with the dish was not included the last time I ordered. The lady who answered my call didn’t know English and kept saying ‘WHUT’ like 20 times and was very arrogant.

I've been to Indian restaurants many times, but this was the most delicious. I was able to eat various types of naan. The masala was also delicious.

I ordered 1 chicken biriyani, 1 fanta and a garlic chutney..It tasted good.. It was a home delivery,delivered within 30 minutes..neatly packed..The quantity of the biriani was more than enough for me. The bbirianicomes along with a raita and yummy lemon pickle The biriani was made with chicken which is fried I think. Compared to my previous purchase from another restaurants, the quantity as well taste was really good. (This is for the second time I am ordering something from here but my previous one got rejected due to some unknown reason,any way no money was deducted that time and this time I just gave a try and it worked 😃..and I am happy with my order.

Authentic kerala food, I visited for buffet but unfortunately the buffet is limited only for certain days, so i orderd chicken 65, chicken biryani and lamb biryani. The birayani were not spicy they were so sweet as of kerala malabar style.

Awful experience.I ordered chicken biryani and beef curry Yesterday. Chicken Biryani not good at all👎 Moreover, I did not like the taste, felt like I was eating chicken curry and rice. RUDE customer service, not even close to providing minimum service absolutely disgusting. No food to serve for enough people half of the guests didn’t even eat as not enough food was put out. Had to self self serve ourselves and other guests whilst they were sat on their phones listening to music.

This Restaurant need to be closed the management it’s very rude ugly and disgusting how they deal with people and the employees don’t now how to treat customers the food very disgusting 🤮 and they don’t even have kettle to boiling the water for coffe an tea they boiling ware in pot they don’t know what is health and safety and what the most they don’t have hygiene in side is dirty and disgusting 🤢 and the employees sit on the phone instead serving customers what they done to my family is disrespectful and disgusting they charge £600 for no service and food should be for 35 people buffet but it was only food for 10 people tables not set up nothing was made for us we have to do everything our self what kind of people working there and management I don’t think 🤔 they got humanity in them they are dirty disgusting animals I hope this restaurant will be shut soon for what they did to my family In very hard difficult time for us I hope from button of my hurt karma will get you very hard and good will punish you for everything what you put us through you dirty scum bags

Absolutely disgraceful. Rude and disrespectful staff members. We have hired the venue for a funeral woke including service and food and ended up serving our selfs whilst the staff members stood behind the bar on their phones with headphones in giving everyone dirty looks knowing we just arrived from a funeral. Would absolutely not recommend!!

Instead of my family being able to sit together and mourn our uncle, we had to act as staff members. This was an unfortunate and unforgettable experience Absolutely disgraceful customer service and overall disgusting experience. My family hired their function room for a funeral wake held for our uncle, the owner of this restaurant agreed to table service and a buffet for 35-60 people, we had also agreed that people attending would be able to get tea/coffee. The tables were supposed to be set with plates, glasses as well as the agreed food and drinks and this was never done. We had to push tables together and arrange chairs so people could sit together. The tables were absolutely bare. It seemed that none of the staff was working that day as not one staff member was there to greet us and when we did find a staff member she was rude and showed zero respect or empathy towards us. I had to ask for a pen and paper and go around every table asking if people wanted tea/coffee as the woman who was “working” there refused to do any table service. Again, this was a wake for my uncle and myself and my family members had to act like waitresses. Not only did we write the coffee order down for the staff but we had to go into the restaurants kitchen to make the beverages ourselves as the woman who was supposed to be doing this acted as if we were bothering her and just told us to wait 20 minutes for the coffee. The cooks in the kitchen did not care about customers looking through their cupboards looking for cutlery or that girls with long hair were running around the kitchen whilst they were preparing food for other customers. I have never ever seen a restaurant allow customers into the kitchen, but if we hadn’t gone into the kitchen to make our own drinks we would not even get that from them. We had to go behind the bar and hand out glasses and bottled drinks to people. The food in the buffet was not enough for 35 people at all, there were people who could not eat as there was no food left. When we asked the staff if they could make more food as it was supposed to be a buffet, we were told a buffet to them is 1 plate of food per person. Which was absolutely embarrassing and humiliating. At the end of this nightmare the owner and the woman who was there said we owed them more money than what was originally agreed to due to some alcohol bottles that were taken from their bar, we used those bottles because there was no one there doing their job and we thought the alcohol was our own as we had bought the same bottles of alcohol. These people started arguing with us and lying about what they agreed to. Definitely do not recommend going here not only for the lack of customer service and the rude and disrespectful staff, but the health and safety violations for allowing customers in to the kitchen too.

Disgusting, appealing service! If you want to receive at least a decent customer service this is definitely not the place to go and book venues for an occasion!!! My dads funeral wake has been arranged with the owner for 35-60 people. An agreement has been made to have tables set up with food and drinks on the table as a buffet for a set price and asked for no music to be playing as part of a cultural thing at funerals. Owner agreed to have all this arranged for a certain time. We have arrived at the restaurant/venue with no tables set up, no staff members in sight and music blasting. My cousins and guests had to pull chairs off the tables so guests could sit down. A member of staff came with a dirty look on her face, no customer service skills and no empathy for the occasion being held. When asked to have the music turned off and drinks to be served, she was annoyed about having to get them and took ages doing this. My cousins had to grab the drinks and serve the tables. When asked for coffee the lady stated it will be 20mins due to no kettles being available, my cousin asked her for pen and paper to get coffee orders in and had to make the coffee herself in a pot on the stove. The lady stood behind the bar with headphones in, on her phone and proceeding to give everyone dirty looks. We’ve asked the guests to grab themselves food and there wasn’t even enough for 20 people let alone 35-60 people. When asked for a refill, the owner stated this is what we payed for and stated that a buffet is one plate each. Half of the people who attended were not able to eat. The lady did not even clean the tables or ask anyone if anything was needed. However, cherry on top was when everyone left and we tried to pay the agreed price, they wanted £250 extra as we have had some alcohol from them. The staff was rude, unethical, unprofessional with no empathy for the situation. Of course outraged by all of the mistreatment, they did not even deserve the arranged price of £500 and therefore we have tried to reason with them over the lack of service. Due to their unprofessionalism and rudeness we have argued with the lady who was supposed to serve and the owner who claimed that none of this was agreed on. If this was the case, we would have booked another venue with the service that was supposed to be provided by Sirkas, no big deal. When confronted that during the arrangement the owner agreed to all of the service which was supposed to be provided was due to purely wanting the money and not actually caring to provide appropriate service, the owner changed the topic. The lady swore at a guest after recording us arguing with them although they have CCTV. Due to the circumstances, we gave up and just paid them the price they gave us at the end. I won’t lie, after the payment was made I have spilled coffee on the lady intentionally who then grabbed me and tried to refrain me from leaving and tried taking photos of my mums number plate after confirming they have live cctv. It is so embarrassing to send off a great man in such way when this was supposed to be a peaceful time for loved ones to remember my dad, instead it was stressful, embarrassing and uncomfortable. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Never seen such poor customer service and horrible behaviour towards customers in my whole life, especially considering that this was arranged for a funeral.

very poor service, rude staff and food wasn’t good at all

Went there after a funeral as the room was hired out it was requested that no music to be played in the function room walked in to music been played loud, we had to turn it off our selfs. Zero tables ready we had to make our own tables zero customer service and I mean zero we had to make our own drinks coffees/teas my girlfriend and members of her family had to go into the kitchen where the chefs were to make these and the staff there seemed happy they didn’t have todo anything, it was booked for 35 people there was no where near enough food cooked there were people there that simply didn’t eat because there wasn’t food. This is the worst experience I have ever witnessed abaslute embarrassing.

Wow is all I can say just WOW! Went for a birthday meal with a party of around 15. I have never ever received such poor service in all my life! We started off with wanting to order drinks. We asked for drinks that I am currently still waiting for now but I did get to share some warm waters out of a jug for the kids. Ohh this story gets better people. We then came to ordering our food. Now correct me if I'm wrong but a Indian food diner you would expect to sell the basic Indian food sides such as naan breads poppadoms etc. I always find a mixed pickle tray and poppadoms on the table is normality when dining Indian.......ohhhh not here at sirkars no no no. We began placing our orders to be told they only had about 4 dishes available off the whole entire menu! We asked for garlic naan to be told we have no bread available! No bread! Also didn't have any poppadoms or dips available either. We wanted to order some traditional Indian curries and spices. We ended up ordering I kidd You not with 3 bowls of plain rice and 3 portions of chips. Others tried to eat whatever it was they rustled up in the kitchen with whatever ingredients they could find in the back of the cupboards. But by the faces they had I'm guessing was nothing like what they expected. Look it wasn't all doom and gloom we had a traditional 50th Indian birthday party going on behind the glass water wall that had a amazing spread for us all to stare at. I have to say I have been to back street cafes and burger vans with better service and choice of food available to order. I would avoid going people. We are all struggling for money and tightening the purse strings. This place might just push you over the edge and make you contemplate a long walk of a short pier. I hope this helps stop others feeling the disappointment we endured this evening. But I am laughing whist typing out of my sheer disbelief of the whole experience. Don't make our mistake go to any other eatery just not this one!

Had rabbit!!! cooked kerela style!!!

We had visited Sirkars on 21st July 2023 as well intended customers and used the customer car park. This visit was after hearing the raving reviews from our friends. There was an engagement party going on at the venue and we appreciate that occasions like this call for celebrations and merriment. However the loud music and not having the chance to have a conversation was not to our liking and mind when we go to a restaurant it is also about time spent together in addition to the food. We were okay to stay back because we still wanted to try the food. The lady that came to take our order told us the kitchen was running on a lower capacity catering to the engagement, so not every item on the menu handed to us was available. However this was when we started to place the order and not when the full menu was handed to us. We would have imagined and been pleased if the lady taking the order was well versed with the abridged menu. Sadly this was not the case, the lady made 4 trips to the kitchen to find out every item we would have liked to order and returned with a disappointing no. This would have still been a time for her to find out the available items at least so it would save her more trips. When we ordered a vegetarian item from the menu the lady asked us, with what sounded like a tone of annoyance and disgust " you want vegetarian also??!" Which is appalling considering it was on the menu and there are people that are vegetarians. We had been at the restaurant for 15 mins listening to loud music not to our choice, managed to order 2 items and were treated like a burden to the kitchen. The final nail in the coffin we thought was when the lady wanted to make a 5th trip to enquire about an item on the menu. We decided to leave as it was clearly not going well, which I hope you agree with what I have described. Perhaps the restaurant could be closed when the venue was overwhelmed by the ceremony! However yesterday I realised that the actual final nail in the coffin was a 100 pound parking fine !!

This restaurant is not recommended for visitors to the area. Terrible service. Ignored. Got the food order wrong three times. Complete waste of time and money. Worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. Would not recommend

Very bad experience . Today our family vist for dinner ,its our memorable day the kitchen crew and service team had spoiled our day . I don't recommend my personal experience . We felt stressed because visiting this place.

Me and my mates have been left to starve, service was bad, prices way too high for what you get in return and we had been totally forgotten.

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Lighting and decorations such as the lava lamp-like display is very modern and interesting to look at.

Had the pleasure of trying the new menu yesterday, and must say the starters are amazing! The lamb curry was also nice, the chicken biryani has a slight different taste to it as it is “south Asian” inspired as I was told, which meant a lot of cinnamon was used. That is an acquired taste haha I am just not fond of cinnamon in general :) but everyone else seemed to love it ! overall seems very promising and happy they have a brand new menu 👍🏽 lamb chops were 10/10
