Miserable staff. Don't like cricket fans. Undercooked chips small bag.£2.75. Greasy undercooked chips. Clearly made from economy potatoes. Never again.

Just stopped off to grab a bite to eat. Not from around here so have no idea about previous owners or how it was run, so my review is unbiased. All I can say is that the service was fine and my pie, chips and Irish curry sauce was well presented and was lovely and fresh. Chips were gorgeous. Plastic fork and napkins were provided too.

What can I say I have live around here for 12 years and watched the steady decline of Sir Harry's Chippy corner cutting all over the shop only taking cash and serving you absolute FILTH!!! So a couple of months ago Island House took over and it was new and very fresh and until today I simply couldn't fault it. Although I will say the prices would indicate we have paid for the refit as well!! My biggest gripe of Sir Harry's was the kebab meat always being pre cut up then put into pots to go all dry and hard and Island Hut didn't do this at the start, but guess what it's back with a vengeance. WE DO NOT WANT DRY CHEWY KEBAB MEAT. It's bad enough when chicken gets dry but to get lamb doner all dry and actually so chewy I am still picking it out of my teeth half hour later!!!! All the talk when I first spoke to them was this won't happen we are not Sir Harry's well guess what the new broom has swept clean. Give it 6 months you'll be frying the scalliops over and over again and adding triple layered batter on the scallops. All the customer wants is to order a kebab and see you cut it fresh off the skewer! Yes it may be busy but people will wait around for a quality product! Just like Sir Harry's I have had my last food from you and at £7.00 for kebab meat and chips I am better paying a £1.00 more and getting a nice King Prawn Curry with Fried Rice from Ruby Harborne whom I have had quality food from for 10 years!!! Sir Harry's lasted 5 years of my residency, Island House hasn't lasted 5 months before putting profit over customer satisfaction. It's a rapid fall from grace!

So I came in with high hopes to see the improvements upon the former mr sir harrys as I had previous issues there. Upon inspection I was mortified to see that there was a fish eyeball in the pickled onion jar. I was willing to let this slide so I took a deep breathe and decided to put my pride aside and order. I asked for good ol' fish and chips. I waited roughly 20 whole minutes to be served. Upon grabbing my food I asked what the wait was for. Mr osborn jumped over the counter and punched my head in. He said "stings, doesn't it?" and then he smashed me through the glass and said "AND STAY OUT!" I Will Never Return!

Nice chips, friendly staff, quick service. Will be back next time for a friday supper. Thank you for the batter bits: D

Best fish and chips around by far. We order delivery an embarrassing amount from this place. Delicious batter, good quality fish and good portions.

This place is about a minute away from the cricket ground. I ordered sausage and chips. The food was good quality, hot, fresh and tasty. It was also really reasonably priced, there were a number of specials on offer. The staff were friendly, quick and efficient. Couldn't have asked for better. I'll be going back to try the rest of the menu!!

If you know your quality of food not up to standards, price should be less to attract more … It’s just grab no quality. Not happy had better

I wanted 1 large fish and one mini fish however, they gave me two mediums for a large I was fine with that but when i got home turns out that the chief didn't want to cook anymore large fishes and has given me old overcooked mediums to send me off sooner as the staff looked like they wanted to carry on chatting together. Also the lady who is working there for a long time a bit chubby was taking bits off customers food and eating it whilst making it I have not seen anything more disgusting surprised as to why she is still working there. When she wrapped up my food it seemed to me as in another language she was cursing me or another customer under her breath when i got home I threw everything in the bin as the lady kept touching her mouth absolute disgrace never going there again.

I come in on a Saturday as i usually do just had to mention how good the fish and chips is. My order usually comes around to £17 but sir harrys has earned every penny lovely manager and staff.

i am a regular customer, but a few previous occasions when i have ordered medium cod and chips for £4.80 i have been given stale, burnt chips - this is simply out of order they know exactly what they are doing but ignore it. and on 2 occasions i have been given fake £5 notes from this store - and each time the £5 was not given from the till, but the staff would go to the back (as if they are getting extra change) i was in a good mind in reporting this i am going to stop eating here, its disrespectful as a regular customer - they think they can get away with it as most people won't say anything

Stopped on the way home after a long day out with family. It was a Sunday and as the kids were tired we thought we’d stop by and pick up cod and chips. What a mistake!! We ordered 2 cod and chips with a large curry sauce and the order came to just under £15.00. We got home and prepared to tuck in. The food was disgusting to the extent that the kids who love fish & chips could not bare to eat it. The cod was chewey and the chips were dry bland. Not sure whether the food had been reheated. Anyway, we threw all the food away and lesson learnt. Please avoid this shop, especially on a Sunday as I suspect they reheat the food due to lack of custom and serve it that. Don’t be deceived by the shop front as it looks very professional. The food is disgusting and I will not go here again. Disgusting!!!

This was the first time I have visited this chip shop but I would definitely return. The chips were nicely cooked. The staff seemed pleasant but were talking to someone else while serving me which I found a little awkward. It was nice to have the chips in a box instead of paper which always sticks to the chips. The box was then wrapped in paper which I thought was a nice touch.

I decided while at the cricket I didn't want to pay stadium prices so went here. First shock was the prices was almost the same as the stadium - cod and chips £7.90 odd. Once back at the stadium and opened my order the fish was a long thin piece of mostly batter. The chips was very greasy as was the fish - it was soaking through the paper. I was so hungry I still tried to eat it but half way through I felt sick so lobbed it over a fence near a river (think I see a river through fence) for wildlife to pick at. Gross! Extremely disssapointed and being my first time unlikely to ever return when next at Edgbaston for cricket.

La tienda se ve bien, está limpia, el personal era amable, etc.Pedimos bacalao y papas fritas con unos pequeños guisantes blandos. Dio la vuelta a la esquina donde me quedaba y la abrí.Oh querido. Los chips estaban empapados, blandos, grasientos. El batido de pescado estaba empapado, blando y grasiento. El pescado en sí estaba empapado grasiento grasiento.Pero lo peor fue la tina de "guisantes". Una pequeña olla de un extraño líquido de color verde con algunos bultos extraños. Sabía como se veía.Nunca más.

El personal aquí parecía realmente infeliz en el trabajo.

This is my local chippy and I love it. The quality of the food is great and they definitely don't skimp out on the portion sizes! I have fish and chips ever Friday and I love it. They do some great deals and its all reasonably priced

Bang on fish suppers served chips are cooked really spot on and good for a quick no fuss dinner when I don't want to cook

I love going here when I've had a rough week at work. The fish & chips, chicken and battered sausage are wonderful. However, the donner meat is not the best. Not a criticism of the overall pleasant experience, but could the business seek an alternative supplier? Once the donner meat cools slightly, it has a bit of a rubbery texture and doesn't have some of the spices I taste in competing businesses. Also another suggestion, I'd love them to introduce masala fish batter on their fish.

The food was nice and hot. The fish was cooked to order it was nice. The batter was nice and crisp would go again. The staff are a little rude stood talking in there own language found that very rude. Worth a visit

A lunchtime treat from time to time. They do a pitta or a wrap or you can just go for a tray of meat plus the salad. I recommend the peri peri chicken.

Absolute con I asked for two pieces of chicken and chips when I got home there was only one piece and they charged me £4 for it con artists.

I went in there because it was Friday and u fancied some fish and chips. The choice s were vast. Much more than my last local chippy. I finally chose my supper. Much more than I usually paid but I didn't mind because it was freshly fried, generous.proportions, delicious

Best ever fish I had in Birmingham .I was just driving home from work and wanted to try somewhere new last Monday .I can say fish taste so good and batter was light and crispy .I will go there again . definitely deserve 5 star.

Heard good things about here, however very disappointed. The customer service was rubbish and they forgot one part of the order. My two daughters are vegan so I was going to get them some chips, however they are cooked with the fish so couldn’t even get those. for a chip shop doing so well I thought they could at least be bothered to fry chips separately. Gods we got was average anyway, so will go elsewhere next time.

They have the best curry sauce. The fish and chips tastes absolutely amazing. Everything was freshly made and I recommend this place for anyone looking for a quick snack.

I went to get a takeaway for family as I usually do on a Friday and decided to try out Sir Harry’s chippy as it was on route home. Stopped off and joined the already lengthy queue to wait to be served. After nearly 20 minutes, I was about to be served until the lady serving me started to talk to another customer who had placed a large telephone order. Again, I joined the queues to wait to be served. I was getting slightly annoyed as my wife and two small children were waiting in the car and it was coming close to 30 minutes In this shop. Anyway, I got served and one of the items I ordered was a chicken and mushroom pie. I noted this was put into the microwave to heat up whilst I was waiting and thought nothing of it as I assumed it was just being heated up as already cooked. WRONG, I got home and wife instantly new the pie had been in the microwave as it was fairly crusty and cold. You get what I mean!! The pie was disgusting and we threw it away.

Decidimos tener patatas fritas pescado n el viernes pasado en un partido de cricket en edgebaston y gente volvió con patatas fritas. Olían delicioso, así que mi marido fue a buscar algunos. Justo al otro lado de la carretera en el Sir Harry's. tuvimos una porción de patatas fritas de pescado de tamaño n. Otras opciones disponibles. Lo que tuvimos fue perfectamente preparado y de buen tamaño. Como somos miembros en Edgbaston sin duda tener más!

El personal es muy grosero en serio un mensaje al propietario de su personal de tipo como la última vez que vine aquí, la comida era genial, el mejor pescado y patatas fritas, pero sobre la base de que el personal grosero con una actitud decidimos que no volvería.

Esta pequeña joya es excelente para pescado y patatas fritas o simplemente tradicional un buen kebab. He estado aquí unas cuantas veces y la comida es muy muy buena. Establecimiento muy sabroso, limpio con gran resumen comida: 9 / 10

Never had any problems with staff here before I'd go as to say all but this one lady is so rude no manners at all and when I pulled her up about saying please or thank you .all I got was why should I use manners hello I'm the customer I take it you want me to come back and spend here again clearly you don't and you want to push customer s away so you have no job .this shop has gone right down hill

I have used this chippy for many years and the food is beautiful and freshly made! Also always have a good deal on as well if you like cheap and cheerful

You could always rely on this chippy to be really busy, and always serving fresh chips. The last few times ib have visited the chips have been hard, dried up and practically inedible.I won't be going here again.

Staff are always friendly and helpful I always ask for freshly cooked fish as very fussy and they will always cook me one even if there's some already in the display cabinet !Maximum waiting time for this is 8 mins - not long at all for fresh food! Overall a good value for money chippy

Love the small cod and chips meal! Very tasty. Staff are professional and offer a good service. The menu has a wide selection of food, including pizzas. They also offer a delivery service if you live in their catchment area.

Food is always good, chips are excellent and second only to Dad's Lane Fish Bar a short journey away. Staff attitude varied from good to offhand. At busy times they don't seem to have much - I asked for a vegetarian spring roll and was told they had none and it would take 20 minutes, no offer of an alternative.

I wasn't expecting much from this chippy, on an unprepossessing row of shops near Edgbaston Cricket Ground, but the chips were decent, and the mini- fish was fine as well. The signage for the lunch time special could have been clearer- I had to ask if they did a mini- fish and chips. Over £3, so not the cheapest. Open after 14:00, so I was pleased to find somewhere that was actually open.

Had the large Cod and chips which was very good and freshly cooked. Nice large cod somewhat let down by the batter which although nice and crispy was somewhat tasteless. Will use again when I got to the cricket but would not drive out of my way for to visit. Staff were nice and friendly.

I had a long walk from the University to get to Sir Harrys, but I was really glad I did. Monster piece of cod, fresh and tasty; loads of well cooked chips to go with it.Staff were nice and accepted my Scottish £10 note without a mummer (always gets +1 from the Scots).

I've been buying food from here for a while and the food is always good and fresh but when I ordered yesterday 23/7/16 the food wasn't that good I ordered 3 chicken wings that smelt off and we're very dry so didn't even eat the wings, I also ordered 1 piece of chicken and chips and again the chicken was very dry, the chips tasted excellent.

Very dissapointed with quality of food, fish was greasy, scampi dry and 2 items missing from our order which we had payed for and didn't notice until unpacking our food. I did phone & was asked if I wanted to go back for them or they'd take money off for them the next time I was in. Sorry but no chance. Won't be back again!

The cod is of reasonable quality. Certainly better than the white fish other much cheaper local takeaways claim to be cod!

The food was delivered before the time stated. However it was meant to be spicy but it had no taste at all. Pizza was just about warm.seemed like I was the last one delivery round.The chicken tasted burnt and the fries were cold and hard. No dips were included Never trying this place again.

ordered 2 portions of mushrooms and got 2 mushrooms in my order, I'm not happy because I'm heavily pregnant and my craving..I was depending on this order for mushrooms and would like someone to contact me back or I'll be in contact with the manager of this takeaway very shortly..also a very small portion of chips I received which I have had more for the same price from your takeaway but the cod was very enjoyable.

Great serving size, tasty and the huge paper bag doubles up as a great bin. Not quite the same as back home in the south, but we will be using this as our go to chippy from now on

Ok I ordered at 7:30 PM off the just eat app I get a call back at 8pm from just eat say sir Harry's chippy can't not deliver I was like ok y has it take 30min to call me after you sent me email confirming my order. justeat said sir Harry chippy are embarrassed to call me as I just fall out outside of the catchment area so they ask justeat to call me this is a joke Sir Harry Chippy please don't put yourself on the map if you can't fulfil customers needs this is just a poor statement to the food industry

The food was great and it arrived when it said it would. However, on arrival I was told I needed to pay two pounds extra cash to the delivery driver for a 'delivery fee'. This is not stated on their order page and if they want a fee they should add it onto Just-Eat. I did not have any cash on me [hence why I paid by Paypal initially]. It seemed like a scam and I was not happy about this!

This is my local chippy which I eat from at least 2-3 times a week and I love it!! if I go their for a quick snack or for my lunch it's never disappointed me. I've been going to sir Harry's chippie since I was at least 5, everyone knows me in their and is so nice! Best chippie in Birmingham!!

Not good food. Arrived anything but hot. Arrived 45 minutes late. Was lied to on the phone about a discount And with BS about when the food would come. Save yourself a bad experience

Food is really good here, prices are ok but what really lets this place down is the attitude of its staff. They refuse to put a tiny bit of salad separate to a burger unless you pay 50p?!!!they refuse to put some curry sauce separately to a tray meal unless you pay a £1????!!!!What ever happened to pleasing the paying customer that keeps you in business???...on many occasions I have spent nearly £20 on to be refused these small requests is poor customer service.

One of the best this side of Birmingham. The place is always clean, the staff professional and it's always busy. A nice variety of the standard 'chippy' fare but always cooked well. Consistently good chips, which to me is the mark of a quality fish and chip shop. You will not be disappointed.
