Siop Llangors Shop in Powys

January 2025 This was our first visit here. Welcoming village community-run shop and cafe on the Brecon Road in the centre of the village, near to Llangorse Lake and the caravan park there. It was next to a new village hall/community centre and post office, and a Primary School. The tarmacked car park is good size and the whole place was accessible for people with disabilities. Nice modern building, with a well-stocked grocery shop and a lovely modern cafe, accessible loo with baby change facilities. There was everything that you would need in the well-stocked shop, including fresh, chilled, frozen, and packaged food, as well as a good selection of household supplies, all of which were sold at prices that are affordable. They were open to receiving suggestions regarding what other things should be on sale. I am celiac and suggested it would be good to have a larger range of gluten free food available, especially savoury items in the cafe. They have a good Facebook page where they regularly post, including special offers. @Llangorsvillageshop. The coffee shop was lovely, nice seating and tables, and sold a good selection of cakes, hot pasties, sandwiches etc. There were gluten free bars available and they are looking at improving their range. There was fresh coffee, range of teas and soft drinks. You could also order food to take out. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and found time to talk to you. Drinks and food were served quickly, no waiting for ages for it to arrive. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Fabulous little shop, with coffee shop area. As we went to the lake to find it flooded and the onsite shop closed until March. We called in here for a take away. The lady and her young son served me our coffees and recommended another area of the lake not flooded, even went to the trouble of showing me on Google maps how to get there. Lovely customer service.

Very friendly and helpful staff who were engaging and kind. The service and food was delicious. Especially the pastry and shop that offered lovely local ingredients

This is a small volunteer run coffee shop and has great locally roasted coffee served in a variety of ways. The range of locally made Welsh cakes and sponge cakes are delicious. They also have a good number of pies and pasties also made locally and which can be warmed up in the cafe. On a Friday there’s a delivery from a local Artisan baker - you can order in advance and have the best Croissants and Pain au Chocolate for your weekend breakfasts . They sell out quickly. Ice creams and milk shakes are usually available too and you can stay and eat anything that the shops sells as well. The great advantage of being served by locals is that you can find out all about the locality and have real insight about what to do and what to miss! Many local people use the cafe and shop too so there’s always someone to offer advice or information( during my visit I overheard a local man reassure a visitor that he’d drop him off in Hay if he’d just wait a few minutes for him to get a coffee - he was going that way anyway! ) The shop stocks a surprisingly wide range of goods which is helpful for last minute needs and there’s a great range of locally produced cards. And there’s a super small play park next door ( with an Iron Age replica dwelling) and some lovely tubs of flowers in front of the shop which enhance the outside area. And the views from the park are stunning.

Fantastic volunteer-led community café. We stopped for lunch on our bike ride. The coffee and walnut cake was genuinely amazing and the coffee was great too. The volunteers were really friendly. Thanks!

A lovely and well stocked village shop. We were on a trip and this proved perfect to pick up all of the bits and pieces that we needed. It’s a small shop but has a lot of variety including some lovely fresh meat.

What a fantastic place! The staff are so welcoming, such great coffee and the best Welsh cakes around. JS is so helpful and sorted us out with a load of fantastic burgers and sausages for our BBQ at short notice. We love this place and will definitely be back next year. Thank you!

The staff was very welcoming and friendly! We enjoyed talking with Mr. Lawrence and other locals in the cafe. The atmosphere is relaxed with a few tables and chairs to enjoy a nice cup of tea and a delicious Welsh cake. There is also a shop adjacent where you can find most essentials and extra items you may need. There’s also postcards with the local painters’s art prints and local photography. Great place to visit!

We were visiting Llangors lake and followed the footpath over the fields to reach this charming community run shop and cafe. Friendly welcome, beautifully clean and really comfy chairs. We both had a coffee and a hot pasty. Very good service from the young volunteer behind the counter. Highly recommend.

Great place to break your journey for a snack, a drink and some shopping for local produce and delicacies.

When visiting the lake all the food facilities were closed but luckily a gentleman who was down there pointed us to the cafe here where we could get a snack. Staff very helpful here

Popped in to look around, tempted by lovely looking cakes and wasn’t disappointed! Quite a variety of goods considering its small size, so convenient having a shop here.

Lovely little shop, run by volunteers I’m told. Very friendly and good selection of products varying from expensive to affordable. The tiny café is spotlessly clean, all types of coffee on offer and the cakes look delicious - what more could you ask for.

Very reasonable prices for a local store, excellent range of goods from local produce to good branded items. No need to go to Brecon anymore for the bulk of my shopping. Staff are friendly and helpful and a fantastic cafe serving beautiful coffee and other local treats. Superb for locals and tourists and in conjunction with the community center makes a real center point for the community. Has really enhanced the experience of living in the area.
