Disappointing meal at Singburi after all the good things I've heard about it. The pork belly mod krob was really dry and overcooked, I think as we were the first people sat and order taken in the second service they must of refried an older batch and reheated it as there was no juicy flavour like the other reviews say just dry and chewy meat. The crispy quail was similar with a oily and too fried flavour but was atleast in some thicker parts less overcooked. We apparently also got the last portion of the Burmese pork curry, and if I knew when I ordered it I wouldn't of - we got the odds and ends of the pork with some super fatty pork belly bits with no meat on it, and with a watery not very flavourful sauce and some ok beans. The tilapia with mango was the best dish and the sauce was nice with it bringing some nice sweetness, but the tilapia was cold (and soggy) so I'm unsure if it was supposed to be served this way. From seeing others reviews and hearing from friends who've gone it seems we had more of an outlier experience, but as it was my only time here I was not impressed and wont be back. Flavours overall were okay but the cooking of all the meat in every dish was no good.

The food didn’t live up to the hype of it being booked 3-6 months in advance. The service was good. It was very hot inside as they had heaters running. Almost all the food lacked flavours were used to for Thai food. The egg fried rice, the chicken stir fry and the pork special were the only good dishes. There are better Thai places in London. They only take cash. We paid £90 for 4 people.

I was a bit skeptical about this place because of the mixed reviews. In my opinion Singburi is one of the best Thai restaurants in London and is definitely worth the trip. The place is small and cozy and it has a very nice homely atmosphere. There are many pictures of patrons on the walls as well. The staff was very friendly which was nice to see after reading several bad reviews that claimed the service here is bad. If you like hot spicy food with contrasting and balanced flavours then this place will be heaven for you. All the food from the specials board is a safe bet. I loved the contrast of sweetness - spiciness and textures of the guava and the pineapple salad. The clams were tasty (I wish there was more sauce to dip in) and so was the Tom Yung Guong with its notes of lime. The Moo Krob is sensational and a must-order. I was disappointed with the portions for the Tilapia and the duck curry. The duck curry had four cuts of meat at the most, and it was not as flavoursome as the other dishes of the meal. The Tilapia was very good, but for that price I expected more quantity on the plate. Overall I had a great experience at Singburi and I would strongly recommend trying it. I would definitely come back.

We heard about this place, and it didn't sound real, 1-year waiting list, apparently, for a family-run Thai restaurant in Leytonstone. Really? So we called up and tried to book, and the lady said nothing for 6 months but to try our luck and wait outside from 6 pm. We had to see for ourselves. So we turned up on Sunday at 5.30, and it was tipping it down and thought there had to be cancellations; lucky for us, 1 table was free from 6.30. The food - having been to Thailand 4 times and reading the reviews I had high expectations. I can say it just felt like you were in a small family-run food hut on the side of the road in Bangkok; the owner was engaging, funny, warm and welcoming. We tried to order everything on the specials menu - everything was just beautiful, authentic and real Thai flavours. Highly recommend to try, price is super reasonable. Just remember they only take cash! Hope to go back again soon. They also do takeaway, which we'll try, but you have to order the day before. They are not on any of the delivery apps.

Generally food was good but I feel like the hype has set the expectations too high for this place, I mean it's pretty standard Thai cafe style food very similar to you would get in Thailand however there are also various other places in London which have a similar offering but you can walk in rather than wait 2 months from booking. Too many food bloggers overhypping things nowadays.

I had heard so much about Singburi that I went to great lengths to secure a booking. I think I had booked around 3-4 months in advance - and that with great difficulty. So it was great anticipation that I approached the reservation. I love Thai food having lived in SE Asia for over 35 years and I'm particularly fussy about Thai food - of which there's very little in London. The dishes look very authentic on the menu - and very reasonably priced. A nice contrast to some of central London's overpriced Thai restaurant menus. Perhaps even more intriguing is the location - literally a hole-in-the-wall in a grimy part of London. In the event I found the food to be hit and miss. While the prices are low and many people are attracted by the BYOB policy - in reality some of the dishes are pretty small in portion size. A fruit salad, while interesting, for example, was completely overpriced, whereas a pork dish was probably underpriced. But overall, some of the dishes were a little 'slapdash' in terms of the preparation - cooked without enough care and in something of a rush I felt. They seem to have specific dining times, which meant that everyone turns up at the same time. Rather odd - but that clearly puts pressure on the kitchen. The (classic) green chicken curry for example, was wonderful in that it had exactly the right vegetables in it (which you seldom see in London) but the taste was not as pleasing as other restaurants. In that sense it was disappointing. The same went for the phad Thai. For me, at least, it was a miss, sadly.

We have been trying to visit Singburi for the best part of 2 years. Singburi has a lot of London hype, and whilst based less central, it is very popular. Check the instagram to understand the booking process at that time. We booked in May(!) via the phone for a booking in September. When we arrived promptly, we were told our table didn’t exist. Apparently our booking was cancelled, even though we definitely didn’t cancel. They didn’t tell us to wait outside or anything just, no you can’t come in. We waited until 6.25, and there were 5 tables that had no shows, so the three of us squeezed onto one small table. Singburi has cash only and bring your own booze policy, so many sure you come prepared. There is a Tesco close by if you need. There is a specials board which mirrors the one from their Instagram account, and a regular menu. The dishes are decent size b it between three, 4-5 curries / stir-fries was enough with a few other sides. We tried: chicken green curry, fish cakes, crispy pork belly with chilli, duck curry with pineapple and grapes, coconut rice, egg fried rice, pork rib and duck feet. Everything was delicious, full of flavour and authentic to Thai cuisine. Our only issue it took an hour from ordering to get our food. Overall, singburi is tasty. If you have to Thailand it feels more like food you will have experienced there. However, the service and experience wasn’t great. Unless I lived local, I wouldn’t rush back or craved really great Thai. I definitely recommend turning up and looking to take a no-show.

We arrived just before 8.30 with the previous sitting just leaving the restaurant. You do not have go into the restaurant to announce yourself. The staff will let you know when it’s time to come in from outside. We were seated quickly . The owner/manager couldn’t have been more charming. She recommended the pineapple and guava salad that turned out to also include peaches apple and blackberries . This had a punchy fiery kick which was unlike any combination I’ve had before. The aged beef curry was full of depth and flavour and wet beautifully with the stir fried cabbage in pork fat. The remainder of the dishes were equally good. This isn’t a place to linger in my opinion . The restaurant is small and noisy. But go for the food. You won’t be disappointed.

Top chefs, food bloggers, Topjaw etc hang your respective heads in shame. The hype I've been hearing about Singburi over the last circa 2 years meant I made it a life's mission to visit this place. Slow forward 2 years later and a near 2 hour drive having not had a reservation but I'm from Brixton so we seldom take no for an answer, I arrived with no booking but having used my charm offensive I was seated by the wonderfully rude owner (she who will shall not be named). I really really really thought I'd then go on to experience one of the culinary delights of my life after hearing all the hype from the aforementioned social media dons. Fast forward an hour later and this was pound for pound one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Bland food, overcooked, chewy, zero depth of flavour I could go on, myself and my missus stared at each other in disbelief but respectfully kept our council, afterall nobody forced us to come here, least of all (she who cannot be named). My one take from this whole experience was how people on social media are sheep and refuse to tell the truth and get caught up in the hype. Even as we queued before dining the people outside were telling us just how amazing this place is. Thankfully I have ticked Singburi off my list and will not return but this place that is apparently booked up for the next year won't miss me. Lesson learned on my part but I'm glad I did it as it reaffirmed that the woke community that hypes almost everything just to fit in are most certainly fast asleep. For those of you who had a similar experience to me and I know you are many. Go the an incredible Asian fusion experience in Tooting called Bobochacha. This will fix everything and rekindle your culinary faith in humanity.

The hype currently surrounding Singburi has reached stratospheric levels, and even though it is quite a trek from home I thought it had to be tested out. Following their Instagram account is key to finding out about the release of reservation slots. I had to book around 3 months in advance for a Saturday evening, and at the time bookings could only be made via the phone on Wednesdays. According to my iPhone, it took 28 attempts on the day before managing to get through to them and secure my booking. Hyped up indeed! Fast forward to the day - we arrived on time to a very frosty welcome from who I think was the person in charge of things. She also was the one who took our order and barked at me when I had any questions about menu items. Anyhow, the 3 of us focused our ordering on items from the specials board, which seems to be the unwritten rule. We tried the clams, whole crab curry, crispy tilapia, chicken and liver curry, beef massaman, and the salt fish rice. The food was very nice and we enjoyed the spice levels in some of the dishes. Service continued to be quite unfriendly and robotic but fairly speedy. The bill for our meal came to a very reasonable £110 for the 3 of us. The conclusion - a nice authentic Thai meal but I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. The comparison that popped to my mind was 101 Thai Kitchen, another hole in the wall casual spot which is close to where I live and in this case very easy to book - perhaps the food at Singburi was one notch better but it wasn’t much of a difference, certainly not enough to justify jumping through hoops to get a booking. I’m glad I crossed it off my list but I doubt I would return. Note: it is BYOB. They do provide a wine bottle opener and glasses if needed. Also note it’s cash only, there is a Tesco just a minute away which offers up to £50 cash back.

It's a big fat yes from me! This is not a modern chic West end restaurant, it's local feeling, chilled, family style. The plates don't match and no-one fills up your water, but so what? The food is great and if you're really in to food and not aesthetics, come here, cash in hand and get stuck in. A group of 3 is perfect, order tonnes, and share everything. I'd say their curries are not their strong point, but the pork bean stir fry, the clams, the moo krab, the pork fat cabbage and the morning glory were all excellent. Can't wait to come back!

I had a good time at Singburi but I won’t go back in a hurry. The food is above average and reasonably authentic, but the red curry lacked flavour and salt - the delivery of mae ploy curry paste midway through our meal might be related… The aubergine and holy basil stir fry was very good though and my favourite dish overall. It’s a nice family run restaurant with a casual atmosphere. On to the bad stuff - service was terrible, we were a table of 2 and first to be seated but it took over an hour for any of our food to come and we were the last ones served. We were about to leave but the food arrived just before we stood up. By this time they had run out of one of the menu items we ordered which was disappointing. We also ordered 2 portions of coconut rice for £9 which came in a single smallish bowl - complete rip off for the amount you get. Overall the prices have noticeably gone up quite a lot in the last year and now I’m not convinced it’s amazing value anymore. Coupled with the terrible service and use of branded curry pastes I don’t see a reason to go back

I recently dined at Singburi (went there all the way from south London) and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While I had high hopes for a delightful meal, the overall visit was underwhelming. Firstly, the spiciness level of the green Thai curry I ordered was unbearably high, making it difficult to enjoy the dish. Additionally, the excessive oiliness further detracted from the overall taste. It's disappointing when a signature dish falls short of expectations. Moreover, I was surprised to find out that the restaurant only accepts cash payments. In this day and age, it's quite inconvenient and raises concerns for safety. Operating on a cash-only basis in 2023 seems outdated and potentially risky. In an era where digital transactions provide convenience and security, a business insisting on cash payments could attract unnecessary attention and pose safety risks for both customers and staff. I hope the management takes these aspects into consideration and considers updating their payment methods to ensure a safer and more modern dining experience. Improving the consistency of their dishes, especially the signature ones, would also go a long way in enhancing the overall dining experience for customers. I believe with some adjustments, this place has the potential to regain its charm and attract more patrons.

A lady with a notebook was in charge of reservations, and when a friend who couldn't make it this time asked us to book for the next visit, the lady said they were fully booked. I asked, "Are they fully booked for the future? What about in six months or a year?" But the lady just got very angry and said they were fully booked, as if asking a question was wrong. Furthermore, some customers walked in without reservations. I felt like the restaurant owner was selectively treating customers, being welcoming to some but ignoring us. I won't go to this restaurant again.

Had to wait two months until we had a table to dine in at this place. I'll say it was worth it. Nice Thai restaurant in Leytonstone, not a huge amount of seating, though I think that is good as it brings a level of authenticity and good quality as well. There's a standard menu that you get to choose from rice, curry, noodle, soup, sides/starters and then you'll get a specials menu board which they also upload on their Instagram page. Love that the spicy level matches what you get in Asia, though if you can't handle the spice level you can ask it to be a bit more mild with some dishes i.e. the som tum. Couple of things to be aware of. If you like alcohol it is BYOB or wine and they are lovely they'll provide the glasses and bottle opener. It is cash only, and finally, better if you go and book in person.

Would have been great if I have no teeth or was on a liquid diet but sadly I am not. Too much lime and salt in every dish we had. I think it was the owner and her son who served us because only owners would have got away with being so rude to me and my family . Asked her for some recommendations and was told obviously everything is good..okay. When I ask for some water, the son made a walking gesture with his fingers which according to him, meant get it yourself. Really hard to get a table or even to order but worth the ordeal for amazing Thai food. Ordered to collect and was not disappointed. Order from the daily specials menu (posted on socials)

I had waited to try Singburi for so long, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. The stress of securing a table was worth it! I hope I make it back someday…

My god… my god! No words cannot describe how amazing this place is. EVERYTHING could not be faulted. Food, service and place. Am drowning in my own drool just thinking about what I’ve just had! If you don’t go, something is wrong with you. Enjoy.

It’s probably the best thing you will find at this part of London. The food is nothing short of amazing. The place is quite dodgy, the service is sub standard/borderline rude at times (apart from two smily ladies) but you come here to stuff yourself with the most delicious and well cooked Thai food. Bring your own is another highlight. It almost feels like a tacky bar but just concentrate on the food and forget about everything else. It’s totally worth it! Also very affordable. Good luck with booking a table though…

Back from their winter break, excellent food, service and a warm welcome. Plus, some new treats for 2015, and still top in 2022!!! Update - Still fabulous in 2023 - Yam Pla was the best, but one of my favourites is now off the menu.

The food was super authentic and outstandingly delicious. However, the staff was very rude to the customers. There was one elderly lady who shouted at me and my boyfriend. We just asked her about the rice which was supposed to come with the main dishes. She should have talked to us more politely instead of saying “OMG can you wait!” Bad customer services definitely ruined our entire experiences despite the good and delicate taste of the Thai food.

by far the best Thai food I've had in London, well worth the trek to Leytonstone if you are not local. we got super lucky and got a cancellation space as a walk in but otherwise its a 2 month wait for reservations but so worth it!

Weird place. I've twice tried to order food for takeaway over the phone as we've never been able to get a table reservation. The first time we called, they said that they had no more takeaway for today and that I should call back at 6pm the next day (Friday) for takeaway collection on Saturday. I did that but was told again that they had no more slots for takeaway and I had to book 2 days in advance for takeaway collection. We were flexible on what days we could collect the food so we asked if we could place an order for their next available slot. They did not let me place an order for the future. I called again next week to place an order 2 days in advance and was told again that they were not taking any takeaway order and to try again but did not let me preorder and gave me no indication of when to call up again. Really odd rules and poor customer service. No food is worth that much trouble.

This restaurant is extremely busy with 2 sittings, check out their ever changing specials board on Instagram. Yes it's hard to get through to book but that's as it's so busy, make sure you call on the days when it's open. Noted some negative reviews on fish cakes and red curry - every thai restaurant does that, come here and experiment, thai beef rib green curry, moo krob, larbs, they can ramp up the spice. Been coming here for over 20 years so yes I get good service but when a masterchef finalist says it's one of their faves then it must be good. BYO is a bonus and it did get a Time out winners prize.

Absolutely the best Thai food I’ve had in London! Every single dish was fantastically executed, both creative yet classic and authentic to Thai flavours with that indisputable wok hay. Definitely hard to get a table here, it’s tight inside and you’re not here for the service, but it’s worth it and the food brings out this beautiful cosy vibe in this special little place :).

Honestly the best Thai I've had in London and family run small Thai restaurant. Affordable dishes, amazing authentic flavours and wide variety of menu items. Might be hard to get a booking, but you can try your luck with walk-ins if people don't show up for theirs! It was all delicious, but my mouth still salivates thinking about the crab, razor clams and pork!

It’s hard to get a table but it’s worth the effort. Simple decor, curt service and great food - everything I want from Thai street food. All the dishes are great but we especially enjoyed the duck larb, seafood stir fry, pad thai, beef massaman. The salads are always mind blowingly spicy and delicious 🌶🎇😋

One of the best Thai restaurants in London that I tasted so far. It blended in Asian taste and not western at all! Nowonder it is on top 10 Thai place in London!! It is just 10 minutes drive away from my house! Beware, you have to book in advance as there is no walk in! Limited number of tables that gets filled up. My recommendation is the fish cake, pad Thai and the stir fry seafood. Tom yum flavour wasn’t the best and the green curry although wasn’t cooked too sweet, it meets some of the Asian bud flavour but just too oily. This will be a place to come back for sure in the future.

Food overall is decent and fast, but still a bit confused why the food is so hyped (maybe it has somewhat the old grandma-hidden-gem type of narrative?) as it’s a just standard (as in not westernized) Asian restaurant. The stir fried beef we ordered from the fixed menu was a little over cooked hence too chewy. The glass noodle from day menu was pretty amazing though, it has perfect level of wok hay. Fried pork belly is also a highlight, well balanced flavors. Tom Yum Seafood soup was average, I was able to taste the sea food was not too fresh ( can’t complaint too much on this as we were there at 8:30pm) The staff was helpful and friendly, good and quick service.

Attempted to walk-in once and we were declined and told to book in advance, take away would also require a 1.5hrs wait. Next day, we phoned to book a table two weeks in advance. I gotta say, it’s not a particularly pleasant experience with the phone booking. Fast forward to two weeks, when we walked into the restaurant, we thought they did not book us in for that evening as they couldn’t find our booking. After a bit of miscommunications, we found our booking on their casually handwritten booking log book. What an experience! The food was simply delicious and legit Thai. Order the items on the blackboard, you won’t be disappointed.

Called to book a table, couldn’t get through. Rocked up to do the same but the owner said they were fully booked until end of October. My aunt, her friend and I tried to find somewhere else to eat. We also discussed coming back and booking a table for their next availability. The owner first said that the next time we could book was at the end of October. She then changed her mind and said the next availability wouldn’t be until November and she wasn’t going to take any bookings for that. It was such bad service that I won’t ever be returning regardless of how good the food is. A restaurant we tried to find actually called us back. We traveled to Swasadee on Mare street, Hackney. Food was amazing! My aunts friend is vegetarian; I couldn’t believe the veg menu dedicated to this palette.I’ve loved and worked in south east Asia. The food was excellent; delicious and well balanced plus reasonably priced. Service was quick and superb. We found a little treasure of a place to eat at and will be returning to Swasadee thanks to our poor experience of Singburi. I can’t recommend Swasadee enough for their portion size, price, quality of food and customer service. If you’re in a pickle for a Thai place to eat, try out Swasadee!

Phoned to book a table and told they were fully booked and I said can we come in for a quick dinner at 6pm and they slotted us in. This place fills up quickly so get your order in early as you will have to wait a while if there are large groups in - we waited over an hour for our food but it was worth the wait. They only have a small kitchen and it is all freshly cooked so bring your own booze and relax. Cash only so bring some dosh. Go medium spice as the chillies are spiiiiiiicy. 5 star food but 4 star for the long wait.

My only real complaint was that the famous specials board was hidden in a corner and you had to go looking for it. Instead you were given the regular menu. Also they seemed to forget one of the items we ordered or ran out of it. Definitely go with a trusted cohesive group of friends/ family as you want to max out the experience without hesitation and awkwardness. Maybe appoint one person to do the ordering for the group as you will need to order everything together and between mains and appetisers things quickly become a jumble. The well meaning wait staff aren’t much help tbqh. Mammoth Tap under the Leytonstone High Road overground railway arches is a nice place for a pre-dinner drink.

Had a takeaway from here. Really expensive for the quality. The menu is very limited. No massaman beef so opted for another beef dish. Received a few strips of gristly beef with a small portion of salad costing £12! The fish dish was nice but again expensive at £14. The wait was very long, over an hour. Would not use again.
