Leytonstone Spice in Waltham Forest

Ordered delivery from here for ages and thought it was great, but we checked the hygiene rating and it’s been a 1 since May 2023. 9 months later and no change? Come on. Won’t be ordering again until it improves.

Worst restaurant to go to,As i always cook at home and as a British 🇬🇧 Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 i cook mostly bengali authentic foods at home ,sometimes if i have a craving for takeaway or dine in mostly i go for different countries cuisines,But this time i thought lets give a try a English style bengali restaurant,how a bangladeshi restaurant cooks for local English folks,They left me in shocked!!!!No wonder this restaurant was empty ,This restaurant should be shut,Terrible customer service,Rude waiter,No smile,no tissues,Raw or half cooked heavily priced Lamb Chops 🤮🤮Lamb biriyani was alright .Food only looks nice but taste 1/10. I would highly recommend not to go in there and waste your money. Hope this review helps both Ways. I have an advice for this restaurant owner change your server (Waiter)He is an utterly useless and rude.

Reliable indian takeaway, have been coming pretty regularly, prices are good and the food is okay. it's in the category of takeaways where there are some dishes you should avoid and some that are really great. their korma and butter chicken didn't do much for me and were a little on the oily side but the passanda is great and seems to hit the flavour profile i wanted from those other dishes. bahjis are solid but pakora was bad. fish tikka is good chicken tikka is good. their dahl is very soupy, it's not terrible but you'd want a solid amount of bread or rice to have with it, i like the saag aloo not crazy about the mushroom bahji. if you're a curious type like me and interested in ordering the red sauce let me tell you it is a spicy red sauce suitable for a poppadom; i could take or leave it. i have still not tried much of the menu as it is quite extensive and will undoubtedly return for more when the need arises.

Terrible food. Don't think of going here. Prisoners get much better food than this restaurant, over charging innocent customers 😡😠

Ordered multiple times now - 9delivery service has always been incredibly fast, massive portions, very hot food when it arrives and tastes delicious.

First time using this restaurant. Both the chicken and vegetable dhansaks were lovely. Paneer also good. Delivery arrived very quickly, and we were also given a free portion of bombay potatoes. Result! Would order again.

Lovely restaurant and great traditional Indian/Bengali food. Excellent service. The B52s were a fun, unexpected, delicious extra! Very reasonably priced too!

I have ordered from Leytonstone Spice several times and the food is always delicious. Fish bhuna is my favourite. Food always arrives hot and sometimes they throw in a free side dish. Would definitely recommend

Ordered for the first time for collection, the meat samosas I'm sorry I believe the meat is off it tasted off and had a foul taste and smell in the mouth. Everything else was ok. The flavours could of come through more. The customer service was lovely and friendly. Good prices.

Impromptu after work meal at #leytonstonespice with colleagues last week. We’ve never been before, despite passing it everyday. Our experienced was a 👍 and we’ve already planned to go back - my garlic and chilli fish curry was yummy and our server looked after us really well. They do a lovely vegetarian combo that my colleagues raved about. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Food was very good, but felt like sitting in a cafe, especially as moped delivery persons constantly in and out of restaurant.

Best Indian in the area, consistently great food. The Jalpati is my favourite dish of there's. Everything else I've tried is lovely too

Been using this take away for quite a few years. Phoned this evening to order take away was greeted by incredibly rude person who answered me with ‘What do you want I’m in a hurry’ and then put the phone down on me. Appalling customer service. They’ve lost a lot of business from my family and will not be using this place again unless they replace whoever it was that answered the phone.

I ordered aloo gobi and there wasn’t one bit of cauliflower in it. I did email to point this out. Not to complain but just so they knew. No reply. The garlic bread was a bit thin. But the paneer was nice.

Quick delivery when ordered on ubereats. The food is good quality and delivered hot and fresh. The taste is not as I expected. The manchurian chicken was made with chicken tikka, whereas I thought this would be a chinese style of preparation.

Unfortunately Leytonstone Spice has lost new but very loyal customers due to the rudeness of the staff, especially because the food is pretty good, we find the best in the area, but this weekend, after ordering dinner on both Saturday AND Sunday, on the Sunday, after receiving our order, someone from the restaurant called my partner, shouting at him and accusing him of taking delivery of an expensive order which wasn't ours, which was simply not the case. The staff member was extremely rude and wouldn't listen to my partner at all at first. Finally, he seemed to understand that there was a mix up on their or the driver's part and a very pithy apology was issued over text message. Not good enough, I'm afraid. As I say, a shame as the food is good but customers don't deserve that kind of treatment, especially when they've chucked quite a bit of money over in the past couple of months.

Found a scrap of metal in my food. I called the store and they said that the metal comes from the container and sometimes ends up in the curry and that this sometimes happens. Owner could not give an explanation as to why they sometimes serve curry with bits of metal in for takeaway. The owner then got angry at me and then accused me of putting the metal in there myself and put the phone down. Refused refund or redelivery. Terrible experience.

The food here is consistently good. Interior could be improved, but most of the business is takeaway. We've eaten family gatherings here for many years.

Came across this restaurant on our taste card app and thought we would give it a try. Where do I start, prawn puree was on point, chicken tikka korma was the best we have had in a while and service was outstanding and great. Friendly and warm atmosphere. Was shocked when we used our taste card as we didn't get the 2 for 1 offer stated on our taste card. That's why I have had to minus a star.

Very tasty food. Their Nan bread clay oven tikka items are very tasty. Curry items are also good.Highly recommended.

Have been going here bi-monthly over the last ten years. Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. Cobra is on tap and there is a good choice of wines. A relaxed atmosphere. Food is good and plentiful. A good place to enjoy good times with friends, families and partners.

The food was tasty and cooked to a high standard. However, we booked before arrival after they confirmed that they offered 2 for 1 Meerkat Meals discount. On presenting the bill it was apparent that they had lied to me when they stated that they no longer did Meerkat Meals due to Covid-19 and then lied again by saying that I never spoke to them or made a booking.

Service very good and staff very helpful. Meat dishes ok. Ordered Tarka Dhall and it was the worst one I have ever ordered from a restaurant. No lentils and it was like a soup.

So I treated the family to a meal. Oh my god the food was absolutely fabulous. The best resurant I've eatin for a long time. We are already looking forward to our next visit. A hidden gem on high Street. Would recommend to any one.

I do not know what tipped the last reviewer over the edge but my experience, both eating in before covid, and as a take-away customer now, has always been very positive. There is a great choice of different food and you get a good portion of everything. They do deals, too, if you spend so much which strikes me as a very pleasant thing to do! Delivery of hot food is timely and pleasant as well. Thank you at Leytonstone Spice, my fave place for Indian and Bangladesh, I bel8eve, food in the area.

I can honestly say this is the best Indian meal I have ever had I've had balti chicken madras and many more dishes here I highly recommend every one in the area to check this place out great portion size not oily food cooked just perfect 10 out of 10 for me and all my family

Madrás de cordero: carne tierna con poca grasa, tal como me gusta. King prawn masala también muy sabroso, los langostinos podrían haber sido un poco más grandes en comparación con nuestro local indio anterior, sin embargo, todavía estaba muy bueno. Been eating in here for over a year now (Freind recommendation) and CAN NOT fault anything about this place, even if I tried. Food is always brilliant, never ever had a bad experience the takeaways are always spot on and hot and always get a FREE SIDE DISH. I’ve recommended to lots of friends and family and they all say the same. Bottle of wine was given to me and my dad At Christmas so these people clearly appreciate there loyal customers. 5star all the way

¡NO COMAS AQUÍ! ! ¡Ni idea de cómo tiene 5 estrellas! ! Pedimos comida para llevar antes de Navidad para 10 personas. Obviamente con un pedido tan grande que no esperaba que la comida estuviera caliente, esperaba que se cocinara. ¡El pollo en el korma que también sirvieron a los niños era rosado! El korma tenía una capa de agua encima que me hace creer que se había congelado. Las chuletas de cordero apenas tenían carne y los recipientes estaban tan apretados en las bolsas que las tapas se desprendieron y gotearon. Llamé por teléfono para quejarme y el gerente pidió pruebas de que el pollo estaba rosado, me alegré de devolverlo. El gerente declaró que vendría a la casa de mi madre para revisar el pollo, pero estaban "muy ocupados" y tomaría un tiempo. El gerente me preguntó qué quería que hiciera al respecto y qué quería gratis, no quería nada gratis, solo quería comida cocinada. El gerente fue muy grosero. ¡Nunca volveré a ordenar desde aquí!

The food came 25 minutes early on a Sunday evening. Everything was well packed and really hot( warm) Super delicious food. We even received some potatoe food for free ( we spent £20)

Had a 'fairly decent 'meal from here numerous times . But last week they got my order wrong - sent chicken byriani instead of Vegetable ...I am vegetarian so was not happy. When I phoned to complain - was given a very rude response ..was told that as he had written down chicken I must have told him chicken ! Daft ...why would a veggie order chicken !!!! Not ordering from here ever again. Someone needs to learn that customer is always right and not insist it was my error . After arguing they reluctantly sent out a replacement after everyone else had eaten ...I dumped it straight in the bin ...didn't trust them not to have sabotaged it.

Disappointing and bland curry. My chicken and pumpkin curry was dry chicken tikka chucked in hard bits of unseasoned pumpkin in large undercooked onions. I believe that the meal was put together and certainly not cooked. A sad state of affairs. The nan bread was soft and well done. The only part of the meal I enjoyed. I will never order from here again.

Used to be my favourite takeaway but the chefs that kept this place running have been replaced! As a result, the food is awful! Stale poppadoms, Bombay potatoes hard and tasteless. Lamb curry was just meat and watery gravy with no seasoning or spices at all. Not even salt. Peshwari naan full of grit/sand. Totally disappointed. Manager very rude and not interested. Won’t be ordering again. Don’t waste your money.

Decent Curry and tandoori, but rubbish poppadoms and cold Biryani. Food 1 hour late and restaurant boss very abrupt on phone. Confusing excuses as to where my order was which eventually arrived 1 hour late with some of the food cold. I won’t be using them again.

Our neighbours are regulars here and they invited us to join them.We've had a takeaway from here before and it was good.This time we sat in the restaurant. It is clean and comfortable and relatively small.Service was fine, maybe influenced by the presence our friends but as the place filled up I didn't notice anyone being treated any different. It's not the sharpest service but there's only two waiters including the owner and they also deal with a busy takeaway service too.The poppadums were good and the Kingfishers were cold. Yes, they do serve alcohol. The wine was OK too.The menu is extensive and apparently recently updated. I had the chicken tikka dhansak balti and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat and the chicken was tender. Rice was perfectly cooked. My Bombay potato side dish was also spot on.Others had paneer dishes and vegetable phal (too hot for me).Overall I was pleasantly surprised. I think some of the other reviews have been a bit harsh and the take away experience shouldn't be mixed with the eating in experience.I'd happily return.

These indian restaurants need to come out of ancient times and up their game. The lamb taste like old meat, the nan was dry and crusty. The sheek kebab was dry and tasted so bland. I love spice and the only dish that I enjoyed was the kurma. I hate leaving bad reviews, sometimes as a business owner you need to try the food and see what you're sending out. Apart from the kurma o threw everything away. Dont even want a refund as I paid for the service.

My only real complaint is the lack of chicken in the biryani! The mushroom biryani has plenty of mushrooms but the chicken is sparse. Shared between two people, who were lucky if they had four small cubes (literally dice sized) of chicken each.

As always, the food here is amazing and delivered with a really great, friendly service. Another happy returning customer!

Ordered take away. Agreed to pay via card on arrival. Their card machine didn't have signal. Driver refused to give food until his dodgy machine would work. It didn't work. I called restaurant to take payment on phone. They said they only have one machine which driver has. Waited 10 minutes still didn't work. Refused to allow to wait longer as food was cold. Restaurant said if I don't like waiting then return food. Did exactly that. Then got a call exactly 20 mins later saying apparently the transaction went through and they will send same food back. I refused to get cold food and they refused to refund food. To date they refused to refund and on top verbally abused me when arguing door refund.

First time ordering from here - food was really good! The portions were huge and we got a complementary Bombay Aloo that we weren't expecting. Delivery was on time. The only criticism I would have would be that all the packaging was oily, but the food was worth it.

The curries we order are mild but very tasty and the restaurant always throws in a little something extra for free which is great!

A really great Indian, ordered for 5 people so had a variety of dishes and couldn’t fault anything we ordered. Food was also piping hot when delivered. Just moved to the area so this will definitely be our go to for Indian food.

Rang to ask where my food was and was shouted at. The delivery man had left 5 mins before the expected delivery time, I said this seems a little silly and was told that they had emailed me saying it was going to be 20 mins later than expected (they hadn’t). Then he started shouting down the phone, kept interrupting - so rude! Food isn’t worth it
