Traveled down to Stranraer a few times on the A77, and with the current COVID Lock down, finding somewhere for a takeaway coffee and roll is pretty limited, with most cafe's shut. Simpsons on Maybole Main Street was open, and have stopped here a few times. Always sure of a good roll (I enjoy their cheese salad roll) whenever I have visited, though coffee not all that great. Good prices and staff are friendly enough.

Wee cheap and cheerful cafe/bakery. Decor a bit tired but food very tasty and staff welcomed us on our way to the ferry. Good place to stop on the way to cairnryan.

Called with my wife last week whilst passing through Maybole and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food that we recieved and the friendliness of the staff. Before leaving the premises both my wife and I used their toilet facilities which is in the basement (One toilet for both female and male) and thats when it all started to fall apart as it was very basic and the decor was rather shabby, then when we you come to go back up the stairway then you start to notice the grime and dirt on the stairwell, then at the top of the stairs you look directly into the kitchen/cooking area and you can see the build up of grease and burnt fat on the cooker and oven doors, this place definitely needs a deep clean of some kind, we can't understand how the authorities don't pick this up when they view premises of this nature. Don't think we will call again in the future.

Ordered from this place last night through Ayr Eats. Spent around £25 and the food never arrived. Had no luck calling the restaurant or by contacting Ayr Eats. Today Ayr Eats have informed me that the restaurant are refusing to refund me with no explanation as to why. Genuinely shocking behaviour. Avoid at all costs.

Was standing in McDonald’s when a customer approached a manager to complain about his order she was soo rude and was mocking the way the boy spoke . He got upset I went outside to check the boy was ok as he seemed a bit high rate and upset .. he was Autistic and had learning disabilities his mum was trying to calm him . I find this absolutely disgusting they also got my order wrong but after what she did to the boy I thought I would just complain to McDonald’s headquarters and so are the boys family ! To lock someone with learning difficulties is beyond me . I will never step foot inside a Ayr mcdonalds again… this was disgusting incident happened on the 20th of may 2025 so it’s very recent … so if you have kids or anyone with learning difficulties the staff think it’s ok to mock them !

We ordered 2 fish and chips. We arrived and it was quite busy so understood we had to wait for both to be freshly made. We waited over 10mins for our food due to the lack of staff (who were trained to cook etc) 1 female staff member had to be in 2 places at once which was a shame. It got busier and busier as we waited leaving little room to move or even get to the checkout once they called our number for order. The food was a bit greasy and soggy in areas but a chippy is a chippy. It's not a bad place tbh. I think we just picked a hard time to go resulting in chaos.
