I've been a fan of Simon Drake since the early 90s, when secret cabaret was on late night Channel 4. Thanks to my partner for taking me tonight (01/11/2024) to see Mr drake live. Absolutely fantastic performance's by everyone, the haunted cellar tour was a good bit of fun too. Everyone working the bar, cloakroom, food service etc- all did a great job. The house itself has plenty to see. Was also fortunate to meet Simon and chat with him 3-4 times during the night, came across as someone who really appreciates his fans as well as genuinely loving what he does. Would recommend and will most certainly be going again.

The fact that I've attended the House of Magic more than a dozen times should tell you all you need to know. A totally immersive experience, lots of fun, entertainment and top quality magic from both Simon, the support act and his table magicians. Go, you won't regret it.

A wholesome, fun evening in the care of a lovely team who host a personal and genuine event. You won't get an ultra modern, high budget flashy production, but you will get heart, enthusiasm, warmth and humour from people who seem to really love what they do. Simon is a real pro and seems to be in his element here. It was a pleasure to finally see him perform live so many years after first seeing him on TV.

Have been wanting to visit for a long time and finally got there . It not only exceeded my expectation but blew me out the water . When the uber dropped us off he said do you want me to wait here as i cant see an entrance . We found it and i wont spoil it but we were terrified by the welcome at the door . Highlights were the haunted cellar . The tour guide was a scream and was so funny . Keep an eye out for the beautiful mistress of house as that's where she hangs out . The house itself is incredible . Everywhere you look there is something you didn't spot the first time you looked . The close up magician was amazing and even that close we couldn't see how he did it . Dinner was served and it was yummy and I'm a picky eater. There was a choice of chicken or beef and plenty of side dishes . Dessert I tried and I'm glad i did as I went back for seconds . The shows were next and it did not disappoint . Your so close to the action as its a small stage and we are still trying to figure out how its done. Once the show is over its dancing or you can just chill out and chat . Drink charges are really reasonable. The staff could not do enough and were all very friendly I think the absolute highlight for me was meeting Simon who was so nice, welcoming and so generous with his time even for a super fan girl . I think what people don't understand as its a family home and that element is lost on some people . Its an experience unlike any other . If your a spooky fan its a must

Finally got around to going after years of saying that we would! You wouldn't know you were there without the directions on the ticket, as it all looks pretty normal from the outside, but as soon as you go through the door, it is all pretty impressive. The headless butler was there to greet us, and then we got a couple of drinks in from the bar, which was very reasonably priced. The place is full of amazing decor, with much of it interactive - all created by Simon. The drawing room is a great place to explore before or after the show, and the cellar tour was brilliant. The cast were really funny and engaging, and try to get around and speak to everyone. Don't forget to get your fortune told by the whispering chair! The food was great - plenty of it, and tasted lovely! The three close up magicians visited every table, but won't approach if you are eating. They were all very, very good, with one if them making balloon models after the show too. The show itself was kicked off by Graham Jolley - a hilarious mind reader with a great act, before Simon's performance. Both involved some volunteers from the audience and both were amazing. Once the show is finished, tables and chairs are cleared for two hours of dancing - a great atmosphere and with staying on for. All in all, an absolutely amazing night, and we'll be back again next Halloween, but this time, we'll make sure we go in fancy dress! Simon is a great host and really wants to make sure everyone has a great night - and they do!

We had the most amazing night at House of Magic for one of my 6@60 birthday celebrations. The whole experience was truly amazing from the support I received in making the arrangements with Simon and Emma to booking VIP tickets for 17 people to the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Simon at the entrance and then throughout the whole evening. The staff team were all fantastic and so helpful and very welcoming and friendly. The close up Magicians were fantastic, every one of them and they were doing their close up Magic with different people all evening. The guest performer doing the Mind reading act was brilliant, very funny and so clever. Then Simon's Magic show was truly spectacular and my daughter was very surprised to be part of his act as I had not told her about that little treat!! All of the other performers were brilliant as we joined them on the dungeon tour, very good loved it. The whole environment is so interesting with so many things to look at and the lounge upstairs was brilliant. I cannot recommend highly enough the whole event from start to finish. Food was great too and very tasty, plenty of it too for seconds if you want. Give this event a go you will not be disappointed if you want a unique, quirky, funny, welcoming and just brilliant night out. Every one of the group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you to Simon Drake and the whole team. You were amazing. Added a couple of pics but no more as don't want to spoil the surprises of the house.

This has to be london's best kept secret. There's no where like this in the uk. actually there's no where like it in the world. This place is unique. What an amazing venue and experience! We attended halloween night. what an amazing night it was - i can't even begin to explain!! from the moment you enter the enchanted garden you are captivated. The host (and star of the show) ensures you are made welcome from the very start and this personal touch and his extreme perfection for detail can be seen throughout the evening - making this place such a success! Although this was during covid every effort was made to ensure your safety. numbers had been reduced and table screen dividers ensured people felt safe. we started the night with drinks from bar. great staff and hospitality. great atmosphere. then the cellar tour - which was fantasitic - but i won't spoil it for you. However, i must say that the guides aren't ameteurs or people doing a job - these are first class actors and their presence immediately demands your attention and keeps it! they really set the president. There's then a little gap before dinner but you need this just to look around and explore! Every corner has something to keep you entertained. Food was 5 * its more a selection of bites than a sit down heavy meal - which is perfect. The standard was excellent i really have to say we were very impressed by this! Throughout the evening there were top class magicians mixing with the crowds and wowing people you really can't blink or you'll miss something! The stage show -. two fantastic acts followed by the host simon drake. quite simply you wouldn't t find a better showman and magic show even if you went to Las Vegas. And what makes it even better is that its a cabaret setting right in front of you - so you don't lose the intimacy like you do in arena shows. 10/10 we had a great night. thank you!

When I was 6 or 7 I recalled my mother watching The Secret Cabaret and being captivated. I then found out about The House of Magic a few years ago and was desperate to go but never had anyone to go with. Then my friend and ex colleague Naomi went and posted about it on Facebook and I was green with envy and even more determined to visit one day. Cue July 2020 and I began dating a new man who on a date asked me if there was anything I’d not done so far in life that I wanted to do. I immediately said go to Simon Drake’s House of Magic. Couple of months later and he bought us VIP tickets for my 42nd birthday in September. Yesterday, (Halloween) I finally got to go! One of the best nights I’ve ever had. So utterly unique. A beautiful environment, fantastic entertainment, delicious food and greeted at the door but the fabulously down to earth Simon Drake. All the performers and staff were so friendly and talented and just great at their jobs. One of the close up magicians missed out our table which was a shame but Sirius did some great tricks for all three couples present on it. A wonderful surprise (for me) was to find Ada Campe performing! Ada, (aka my friend/former colleague Naomi mentioned above) was a guest act. She was fabulous and it was great to see her after all these years doing her thing! Thank you Simon, Naomi, all the other magicians, staff, assistants for making my birthday dream come true. Such a good value night out, I will recommend it to everyone. Amy xxx

Took 17 work colleagues here for our Xmas party. It was fantastic, great value for food, entertainment, from 1900 to about 2245 then dacing until 0100, It felt bespoke as it is not too large or people packed in to get numbers, with I would guess space for 100 people, food was good, plentifull and served in a buffet style. Evening relaxed and stylish. Never a real que at the bar and most drinks £5 (bottled beer, glass of wine). Entertainment awesome, Haunted celler tour hilarious, fortune telling chair, close up magicians all night were brilliant (gotta give Sirus a mention here top magician) capped off with an excellent Cabaret and Magic show from Simon. Can't praise it enough well done Simon and team well deserved 5 stars. You will 100% get revisits from us.

This was our wedding anniversary weekend, and we decided on a rare trip to London. After a Friday night out "fine-dining", I was looking for something a little different; I am so glad that our trip coincided with a show at Simon Drake's House of Magic, a venue I've been interested in visiting for several years. I won't say much about the proceedings because much of the fun resides in this being a unique evening of convivial, spooky, confounding and occasionally saucy entertainment with many a surprise thrown in along the way. But what I will say is that Simon's show was an absolute highlight not only of the weekend, or the year, but probably of my life! It was a brilliant masterclass in stage magic, featuring so many classic effects that you may have seen on TV back in the day, and of course Simon's own unique takes on those classics. I was spellbound and amazed in equal measure. A night out here with my company next year will definitely be recommended to the powers that be!

Having been a long time fan of Simon’s from the late 80s, through the Secret Cabaret and beyond we have been several times to the House of Magic and it’s always a treat. This year I decided to celebrate my 50th in style and we did a venue hire. Simon walked us through the various options and provided excellent recommendations for the evening and allowed us to tailor bits and pieces to make it extra special. On the night Simon and all the staff were wonderful, engaging with all my guests and making them feel very welcome and it felt always like a very exclusive and personal event. The food was great and all were surprised to receive such a sumptuous feast. The table magicians were top notch, shout outs to both Sirus and the legendary David for keeping us amazed at all times and the balloon models are always a massive crowd pleaser .,, I still have my Tardis. Betty and Rafe kept us all in stitches with the cellar tours, and Harriet’s comedy guitar turn later was a real treat. Simon’s act is legendary...I could watch dancing cane all day. The grounds are lovely for a little fresh air now and again and great for al fresco drinking. We all loved the curios, automata and rare cinema props strewn around the gorgeous drawing room. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening and it shows too as all my guests still talk about the evening, it’s not everyday your beheaded live on stage and get one of your old school mates arm chopped off. Thank you again for a bucket list memory !!

Firstly, I feel the need to disclose that I was for a brief time, employed at The House of Magic. This may make you think that my positive review is biased because of some misplaced loyalty to my former employer, but let me also disclose that I was, in fact, sacked by Simon, and he and I didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye. I am now older and wiser, and can see that Simon was right to end my employment with him. Now on to my review. The venue is wonderful, and you will feel as if you are part of something that only the elite know about. It might be an expensive evening for some people, but the food is excellent, you can have your fortune told at the scarily accurate Whispering Chair, also, the magicians are some of the best you will have the privilege of seeing close up, (I was there when a then-unknown Marc Spelmann was a table-side magician). For me, the weakest part of the entertainment is the main show, but that could be because I saw it every night for two weeks straight, and I suspect anything you see repeatedly will start to get a bit tiresome; I’m pretty sure that for those who see it once, it will entertain you.

Luego cenamos, ambos somos verduras y fue absolutamente delicioso! Luego vinieron los magos itinerantes que realmente te hacen creer en la magia, ¡son increíbles! We saw Simon when he was the first illusionist to perfect gore into his act very many years ago. We also liked the TV shows and had been meaning to visit the House of Magic for several years. The location is very good and Simon welcomed us as the perfect host. The House is a lot of fun to go round, with some great artefacts, and the cellar tour is hilarious (due to the staff). The whole ambience sets up an expectation for great things to come. The buffet was OK, albeit not adventurous, but could be a lot better. The two warm-up acts were both excellent particularly the unique take on a contortionist act. However, that's when the disappointment began. Simon is the main event and his illusions are alright but the 'tricks' were all so dated and had not moved on since he started out 20 odd years ago. He is a great magician and set new standards when he first appeared but does not seem to have moved with the times. In comparison to the performers of today, such as Dynamo, the act was very weak and unimaginative. I honestly believe that Simon can deliver to today's expectations and should consider reworking his act accordingly. As ever the perfect host, and just all round excellent chap, he opened the shop for us after the show to buy some tricks for Xmas presents and was very generous as well. So, I offer this review as honest and constructive criticism because I really want to see Simon again with some new magic. If you have not seen him before then you should go for a really fun night out.

If you are after a unique and genuinely jaw dropping evening of magic and illusion, look no further! Lucky enough to have seen Simon Drake's macabre TV show 'The Secret Caberet' when I was much younger, I stumbled across this evening after looking to see what Simon is up to now! He's still at large! The house of magic is a step into a vivid magic stage set, and a museum of oddities. Simon's thoroughly entertaining performance was framed by table magicians that were of the highest quality as we sat and munched through a buffet style two course meal. A real take home was to have a normal conversation with Simon, his family and Roxy as we relaxed outside after the acts were complete. Considering another visit this Halloween to see a few new tricks! Absolutely outstanding

I had no idea what to expect and 'expect the unexpected' is probably a pretty good way to sum up what really was a genre defying evening! The first element is the surprise of walking off the street into a lovely garden: winding paths, sparkling trees, seats nestled in quiet corners, slightly wary looking people and a man without a head! We headed quickly to the bar and were beautifully looked after by the lovely bar staff. Before dinner we enjoyed the the camply brilliant tour of the dungeon, which provoked lots of thrills and laughter. The food was lovely and we had plenty of time to enjoy it before taking our seats for the show. I really don't want to give too much away but absolutely loads of brilliant magic! The fun carried on after the show with a DJ and drinks. A totally unique night out!

I am absolutely blown away. What an incredible evening!!!! Arrived at the start and walked through an eerily spooky, beautiful garden. We were greeted by the butler and ushered into the most beautiful candlelit room, I can't even explain it. The whole house is like stepping back into time! Red velvet drapes, spooky antiques and the most amazing attention to detail here. The automata are working models that you put 20p in, so many of them! All victorian looking. Incredible. The main room is the auditorium where the stage is with round cabaret style tables and candles, then upstairs is a huge drawing room with the best chandelier i've ever seen. Again, filled with brilliant things to look at.Food was delicious, really lovely staff serve you. We grabbed our food and went upstairs to eat in the drawing room. After we ate, we took a trip down to the creepy cellar. The butler is hilarious! So much fun. And the stunning vampiress was so sexy! Just so much fun! Amazing things to see down there too. Loved it.There's a Whispering Chair where you can have your fortune told, mine was spot on. The girl there was so friendly, really made us feel welcome. You can tell that all the staff love being there. Then the show. What can I say. I remember Simon Drake from his Secret Cabaret days and was so excited to see him perform live, finally! Absolutely spectacular!! He is such a showman and really gets the audience involved. The illusions were out of this world. After the show there's music and they clear the tables so we could dance! Fantastic! Just such a lovely atmosphere to be in. What's really lovely is that Simon comes and relaxes and chats to all of the guests after the show. Makes it a really special, intimate evening.I can't even tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves. I'm certainly going again. Thank you Simon and his team for really making our night so special! 5 stars without a doubt.

I had heard about the House of Magic and have wanted to visit for a while. It did not disappoint, not only was it a great place with loads of atmosphere (no Disney like decor) it had the extra fun factor which I did not expect at all.The tour guide that showed us the haunted cellar was hilarious as was the " lady vampire" a fantastic double act.Whilst waiting for the food we were entertained by table entertainers with magic and tricks who were good fun. There is a reasonably priced bar, friendly staff and the food was tasty and plentiful with a choice of 3 mains and desert was lemon or chocolate tart , unlimited coffee and mints, just good tasty grub. The main event was Simon Drake and his illusion act, we were transfixed, the act again has a lot of humour and banter and gave such a feel good factor.I have never seen magic up close before and I am still trying to work out how he did it. It is a unique place with a very warm welcome you wont find anywhere else like it.Loved it.

I had little idea of what to really expect, but I'm really pleased we went. The whole evening felt friendly and fun from the beginning. We arrived about 8 and before the main show started about 9.30, there was lots to do and explore, I'd make sure you wander round both in upstairs where there's lots of magic stuff and oddities to see and downstairs in the dungeon there's a mad tour that's a bit over the top but a real laugh. The hands-on magicians, were friendly and pretty skilled (we had two come by our table) and I have to admit to getting a second helping of the tasty buffet dinner (we had both somehow missed lunch earlier in the day). Simon Drake mingled and obviously loves people coming into his space. Apparently, he personally makes a lot of the spooky automatons scattered round the gothic converted pub. What I liked about both the show and the dungeon experience is that no one took themselves too seriously which made the rather camp and tongue in cheek shows really work well. I'm not a laughing out loud person, but found myself having such a great time with my wife. We missed out on the after show boogie (babysitting stuff) but both of us definitely recommend a visit. Hummm this is a tough one to write as i really didn't know what to expect.... But here goes.So tickets were £85 each and arrival time 7pm till late. We arrive at 7pm and the entrance and feel of the whole event was amazing, it was an old pub converted into an eary horror house, it looked lovely and i loved the whole theme idea behind it.We wondered around the building for about an hour and then food arrived at 8, main and pudding (inc in price). The self service buffet food was very average and cold just about edible. Whilst sitting down the music was really loud so couldn't even engage conversation with other people on the table because it was so noisy. Whilst sat down a couple of magicians walked around and they seemed bored as hell, no enthusiasm what so ever.Anyway waited around till eventually the main man Simon came on at 10pm. I don't want to be horrible but it really wasn't anything amazing. And when he finished it left a feeling of, oh was that it...... His show lasted about 40 mins in total. So to round up, like i said i loved the theme and idea behind it all but £85 for what we got was terrible. I'd have paid £35. Its defiantly an experience but i probs wouldn't recommend it.Sorry :/

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect before I arrived and I am not too sure it can really be described! The buffet food, although simple, was well cooked and tasty. There was also plenty of it. There are many things to entertain you before the show itself, including the fascinating automata. Several close up magicians also go around before the show; unfortunately we missed out on this due to some incredibly rude guests stopping close-up magician as he was starting his performance to give their friend a birthday present. Of course this was not the magician's fault! We had standing seats as these were the only ones left. While this was fine, if you can afford to get a seat, do. We had to eat from our laps, which wasn't ideal. All in all, I'd say go for it! It's hard to explain or really imagine until you get there but it's all great fun and highly entertaining. Oh and of course, wonderful to see the amazing talents of all the performers, including Simon Drake!

If you are looking for something TOTALLY different then the House of Magic is certainly well worth considering. The evening is a mixture of an extraordinary venue, excellent food, superb entertainment & more than one or two surprises; it would spoil things to give too much away so I will not.The tickets are not cheap, BUT when you consider that the are getting a very good two course meal, near stage seating, wandering entertainment throughout the evening it is good value. There is more than this but again writing about it would spoil the surprise.Anyone with a love of Magic or Theatre (you don't have to love both!) would have a wonderful night.

The entertainment starts the moment you enter the gate. You step from the street into a magical garden and instantly forget about the rest of the world. The house is a treasure trove of artifacts, strange and mysterious wonders and treasures which baffle, amaze and occasionally unnerve. Myself and my girlfriend both loved it. Without giving any secrets away, a guided tour by a butler had me in stitches. He was fantastic. The dinner was lovely, the desserts were oh so moreish, you really can't ask for better. On to the stage show proper.... Let's just say I sat open mouthed for the entirety of it wondering how on Earth they were doing it. I've literally no clue how it was done but I absolutely loved it. For lack of a better word, it was magic. The hosts, Simon and his wife, are both lovely people, approachable and talkative and they don't disappear after the show but mingle with the audience after, glass in hand, to talk and laugh with everyone while close up magicians entertain the crowd, drinks flow and the dancing starts. The atmosphere is amazing, it's warm, it's comfortable, almost homely but at the same time it's magical. I can't recommend or praise it highly enough. If you get the opportunity to go, take it. Thanks to all the staff there for a wonderful and memorable evening.

How refreshing to do something completely different for the company Xmas do. From the moment we arrived to the time we had to leave, we were fully entertained and looked after by everyone involved in the running of the show, from the performers to the bar staff. They are a great team, I must congratulate them. I don't want to say too much about the events of the evening as it would spoil it for you should you be lucky enough to go. However I highly recommend this venue in terms of food, entertainment, professionalism and atmosphere. It's a very surreal experience and you wont be disappointed. I remember watching Simon Drake in the Channel 4 series "Secret Cabaret" back in the early 90s and for all his fame he is a genuine down to earth guy and he took the time to sit and talk with us (not just about himself but real life too!!) after the performance. Simon, his wife Abby and the rest of the crew are fantastic entertainers and magicians, full of energy, comical and a delight to watch. Would definitely go again as I'm sure I probably overlooked something, so much to see!

I visited Simon Drake’s House of Magic for a very special evening, We purchased VIP tickets which meant we had our own table reserved for dinner and the show. I’d have been happy to pay the money just to see Simon Drake perform in his own show; Simon is one of the most original and creative illusionists of the modern age, he conceived and starred in two highly acclaimed TV series - 'Secret Cabaret' for Channel Four, which gained him a huge international cult following as one of the most original and shocking illusionists in the world. He’s also got a huge list of credits to his name on consulting and performance for the likes of Kate Bush, for which he devised visuals for and played 7 characters in her now legendary, ‘Tour of Life’. He has also consulted on numerous movies and theatre productions and of course his highly memorable TV special called ‘Raising Hell’ with Iron Maiden. Suffice to say I was already a fan before I bought tickets! The venue itself, which Simon himself designed and built has a wonderful air of mystery about it, situated in an easy to get to, but secret location in a 200 year old building in London which you’ll get directions to once you purchase tickets.Walking into the venue will immerse you in an amazing world of magic, from the amazing Enchanted Garden, through into the Red Room, down into the Haunted Cellar, relaxing in the Drawing Room, and the Auditorium for the show itself, each location in the venue is professionally themed, decorated, and staged for maximum theatrical effect. The eagle eyed will spot (or maybe be shown) a number of rare and unique props and items from Simon’s collection throughout the venue.During the evening, you are free to wander around, and enjoy his house staff’s friendly hospitality, or enjoy tours of the Haunted Cellar (in which to my knowledge no shadow hand puppets have ever been harmed or used), some of the country’s best Close Up Magicians perform around the tables before the show for your entertainment. The food is wonderful, and excellent value for money in addition to the show itself, on my visit, it was extremely good. The main show is a wonderful end to the evening, Seeing Simon Drake perform means seeing how magic should be performed, the theatre is a perfect size to allow great views from all tables, Simon features a great range of magic, from his extensive range, including some items people may recognise from the Secret Cabaret days.If you love magic, theatre and somewhere with a true sense of atmosphere… Simon Drake’s House of Magic is the perfect venue to enjoy an entire evening of quality, polished magical entertainment… Highly Recommended…! It's rare you have a night out so blinding you instantly want to tell everyone, while simultaneously wanting to keep it to yourself so it's specialness does not become diluted by Other People. This is one of those. The whole thing feels like an adventure from the off when you're sent the secret location with your reservation confirmation. From the minute you step through the ordinary-looking gates, you're transported into a magical world of unadulterated theatrical brilliance. While the show's the highlight of the evening (and I'm still exploring feasibility of carving out a new career as a magician's assistant), throughout the whole night, everywhere you look there's something fantastical. It's this attention to detail that's incredible: from the haunted photo frames to the automata to the cellar tours...they've thought of everything. The heart and soul which has gone into kitting the place out is evident, and is what makes the real difference. House of Magic is not just another club: it's a labour of love and, as a guest, you really feel that they want you to love it as much as they do.This definitely lived up to the billing as one of London's best kept secrets. Go. Take people with you. But, shhh, don't tell everyone...

Where do I even start with this...? I have been to many shows in London, from big west-end to smaller independent shows/experiences etc, therefore booked this safe in the knowledge that my friend and I generally like and enjoy a huge variety of shows. How very wrong I was. Firstly- this was advertised as "Summer time secret cabaret" which upon arrival is actually "old house dressed to look like it's Halloween." The whole house was decorated in Halloween memorabilia that looked as if it had been purchased from the 99p store. The "Haunted cellar tour" was again- a 99p store decorated room which guests were shown a variety of "spooky sights"..which in reality was an old skeleton and a girl making shadow puppets on the wall. The food we were served was of school dinner quality- I didn't expect five star dining, but I did expect more than a plate of sloppy meaty mush and soggy potatoes. The magicians walking around tables seemed to have got their "tricks" from the joke shop- I am sure I have found similar tricks in Christmas crackers. The show itself- was again, a shock to see something so bad- when my friend and I are both easily impressed.I feel terrible for giving this such a scathing review- however I don't want anyone to fall into the same trap as I did. £75 each for tickets, an overpriced nightmare that I couldn't have escaped quick enough. If you insist on going to see this shocker for yourselves- do NOT buy the £75 tickets, get the cheaper ones as you are still seated for dinner. What a disappointment.

The whole evening is a magical experience! (Pardon the pun). From the moment you step into the enchanted garden you feel like you've been transported into another world! The garden only gets better as it gets darker, when you can fully appreciate all the lighting effects in place!Inside isn't a disappointment either, every single inch of the decor just adds to the experience. The table performers are amazing in particular Mike Smiths card tricks and Brendan's crystal ball tricks.the cellar tour is full of laughs and again hosted by amazing staff. Then it's time for the main event where you will be totally fixated. In particular the floating cane performance will have you spellbound due to it's genuine beauty. All in all it's a night to remember and one which you will not be able to stop talking about! What a brilliant experience. If you've not been to this night - what are you doing? Me and my party were completely blown away by the whole evening. From the aesthetics; the lovely garden, the door man, the drink & food, the haunted cellar tour, all of the performers involved and of course, the main show with Simon Drake which; from start to finish is slick, professional, impressive, funny, sexy at times and thoroughly entertaining. I'm sick to death of watching bland cabaret and burlesque in London and it's so refreshing to know that there is still good, affordable and classy variety entertainment in London. I was a huge fan of The Secret Cabaret when it originally aired. Simon really brought something new and exciting to magic with his performances with a macabre twist. I was delighted years later when an internet search for the series lead me to the House of Magic website and discovered Simon was still performing. I couldn't go at the time, which was a couple of years back, but my girlfriend surprised me at Christmas last year and I finally got to go on 28th June. It was a fantastic evening and definitely worth the wait. From the moment you enter the enchanted garden you know you're somewhere special. There's so much to take in, from the weird and wonderful items hidden away in the garden, to the magical artifacts, props and Simon's wonderful handmade mechanical wonders around the house. You're free to explore the house in your own time and take in all the sights including the haunted celler. Then later, enjoy some lovely food whilst close up magicians keep you entertained. Simon's performance towards the end of the evening was absolutely brilliant. We were blown away. The whole thing is so well put together, the staff are lovely and friendly and you're made to feel so welcome. I can't recommend it enough. One of the highlights was meeting Simon himself who very graciously spent time welcoming and chatting with guests. Nice touch. Keep up the good work. Hope to visit again some time.Paul (& Laura)

In April this year I made my 10th pilgrimage to the House of Magic. I was there for the opening night back in 1990-something and have returned as often as finances and logistics allow. The venue is utterly magical, you pull up outside (the ease of parking always amazes me) and you'd have no idea what lies behind some very anonymous walls. Once in, there is a gorgeous mature garden, full of quirky, fun, spooky things. Inside it's hard to absorb all the sights, the Red Room is just crammed with opulence and bonkerness and fun. There is also a lounge upstairs where you can chill and chat before and after the show. Magic, illusion, automata and horror memorabilia can be found in every corner. There is always a good quality buffet and, as a veggie, I never feel short changed. The bar is well stocked and reasonably priced for London. As well as Simons amazing show, there is a tour of the haunted cellar, a chair that reads your future, table magicians, a balloon artist and a support act.The main reason to go is to see Simon Drake, one of the all time great magicians, in a venue that's both intimate and individual. But the night is much much more than that; it's a total experience that you really should try at least once in your lifetime.

I'd been recommended this place as somewhere to hire for a private do later in the year, so we went along to one of their public events to check it out. While we were enjoying the buffet (tasty and hot, plenty of meat) the entertainers would take small groups off and do things to them, which everyone liked. Nice cheap drinks, and there's a gorgeous "magic garden" which puts other smoking areas in south east London to shame. In fact the whole venue is beautifully kitted out, they have the atmosphere spot on, with creepy music, scary and odd things hanging off the walls, even a dungeon. The stage show was fantastic, comedy songs to start off that had me in stitches, followed by an incredibly theatrical magic performance from the eponymous wizard. Well executed, and just the right amount of disturbing. So I'm obviously hiring the place for my do anyway. Great stuff!

Simon Drake's House of Magic is an unbelievable show, dinner and overall experience. Those brave enough to find their way to the venue's secret location in London begin their night with a tour of the "Haunted Cellar" and breath-taking Drawing Room. They can then get their fortune read and enjoy a drink at the bar that puts The Overlook Hotel from The Shining to shame. The buffet dinner has wonderful dishes for both vegetarians and the meat-friendly, and is followed by coffee and a great selection of desserts. The show begins with an opening act comedian guitarist who made me laugh so hard my face hurt! He is followed by the legendary Simon Drake's magic show, which is nothing short of awe-inspiring, sinister brilliance - I won't give anything away but hold on to your head! And for those who survive, the night concludes with dancing and cocktails. The evening is a great experience for a night out, special occasion or group gathering... bring your friends for fun and safety! :)

Visited this traditional cafe with my daughter for a good ol British breakfast and was not disappointed. The ambience is very good with lots of old time memorabilia all over the place. The breakfast was great. The only issue was the service. The gentleman who took the order did not write anything down and ultimately did not deliver what I ordered. I needed to order another coffee 3 times before it arrived. Shame about this as if the service had been better it certainly would be 5 stars.
