Great food and wonderful service.

Prawn puree starter was OK. Limited selection for onions and mango tray for poppadoms (no red spicy sauce or lime pickle). Main course chicken tikka balti was bland no flavour at all sauce was thick so Shame had no quality flavours to match ,mushroom rice was OK. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Always used to get food from here, but then me and my friend both got severe food poisoning from the tikka masala. Haven’t been back since and probably will never go back.

Came to Shimlas with my family. The food was wonderful and so was the atmosphere. Someone who really impressed me was a waiter called Noman. He was a real asset to Shimlas. He asked us how the food was and if we needed anything. Really enjoyed the experience. Definitely will come again.

Service was good, food was excellent, atmosphere was Ok ish but the waiters were miserable and just went through the motions, this is the main reason we might not go back.

Had a superb curry here last night, it certainly rivals another (more expensive) Indian restaurant in the area! I'm surprised this place isn't packed out tbh. A Royton gem, definitely worthy of a 5 ⭐ rating

Having used these frequently since they joined Just Eat, we used them for a family boxing day meal. Called ahead so as to be able to collect the meal, was just over £116.00. Nothing was forgotten, it was an excellent and easy transition. Got it home, everyone really liked it. Thank you guys.

We have just had a takeaway meal from here, which we have had before. It must be the worst meal we have had for a long time. Poppadoms were OK but not a lot you can do wrong with them, mango chutney was very watery with no actually pieces of mango in it. Onion bhaji were hard and chewey. Sheek kebab the same! Garlic naan hard and chewy Lamb Jalfrezi, my OH couldn't eat and believe me he is not fussy.. my chicken takeaway balti not bad but not much taste to it. All in all very disappointed as was not cheap 😒

It's okay I would not rave about it but it's okay if you're local. The staff are okay and prices are good.

We booked for 10 people on Saturday night. Our waiter looked like he couldn't be bothered,he never explained what the set meal entailed.When we chose something he kept telling us it wasn't included! The food was good but this was let down by the unfriendly staff.Also we were never offered the included coffee to go with the mints. On leaving we received no acknowledgement from any of the staff which is unusual considering we had just spent over £160. We won't be returning.

We have been visiting the Simla for 24 years and never had any complaint, but tonight the service and food exceeded all previous visits. The service was excellent and the food all well presented, hot and tasty. We will always recommend this establishment

Not the best, seems to have downhill. Waiters not particularly attentive. Food mixed, 1 dish excellent, 1 dish lacking any sort of flavour. Under the impression they took Amex but I don't think they wanted to stump the fee. EDIT: Contacted Amex and it seems they do take the card. Really naughty business practice and they will be reported to trading standards.

Went for a meal for Valentine's day it was fabulous. The food is incredibly good as always the staff are help full and polite and attentive.

Booked provisionally Sunday 29th December for New Year's Eve at 7pm for 2 people. Restaurant rang me same day and said shouldn't be a problem and they would ring me again that evening to confirm. Didn't have the courtesy to ring back, therefore booking not confirmed and didn't receive anything by email to confirm either. Ending up staying in with a takeaway. Appalling Customer Service, should of advised they were full instead of not confirming at all, and leaving us hanging. Down to greed at the end of the day, obviously a booking for two wasn't as appealing as a large booking of people! At the end of the day money is money and reputation is everything! Not happy at all and will think twice about going back again

Went here for our darts Christmas night out. 13 of us They seen us coming, on the website they advertised a 13pound set menu. They decided they weren't honouring it. They seen us coming. Con artists

Yes, it's ok. Decent portion sizes and a nice large fluffy naan bread. Flavoursome dishes and Cobra beer on draught.

I have been to this restaurant, and had takeaway, many times. Having eaten at a vast array of Indian restaurants in the UK I have concluded that this is one of the best. The Jinga Botera and Chili Chingri Masala dishes are by far some of the best dishes that I have had in any restaurant. Value for money is very good; this is despite a recent price increase for the Jinga Botera and Chili Chingri Masala from £8.25 and £8.95 to £11.95 respectively.

I can't fault the food served in this restaurant. The staff are very polite and very accommodating. The atmosphere is really good.i would highly recommend the food. They also serve dishes that you don't usually get at other restaurants.

We visited this establishment last week booked a table arrived 15 minutes early all tables were full nowhere to sit stood in a line until they decided to show us upstairs tables were not set up we were shown a table in virtual function room had to wait ages for food and pipes to be cleaned through on beer we had to keep calling over the waiter for a drink when we wanted one there was only 3 tables in service Food was good work on your service please when someone books a table ensure it is available and in the proper area where there is some atmosphere get the service right your food is OK and the food is priced right this wont put me off coming again you may have had a rush but there is no excuse for letting booked tables be taken especially when the customer arrives 15 minute early if this was not the case i suggest your staff overbooked or double booked the main restaurant area

It is a long long time since we have been in here. It has obviously been decorated since then and it was nice and light. We hadn’t booked a table but managed to get a table. The food was lovely the staff were very friendly and the price was good.

One star is generous to be honest. Food was pretty average but the staff were extremely unfriendly and not at all welcoming. They give the impression they could not be arsed weather you enjoyed it or not. Only one staff member was friendly but the other two are in the wrong job. Certainly wont be going there again and giving them my monet. Far better restaurants nearby. Not recommended unless you have had one too many drinks and not arsed about service. The good reviews do certainly do not reflect the place. They must all have had one too many🤣🤣🙈

My party went to The Simla, Royton on Christmas Day. My Mum came along and she is 87 years with a v small appetite. I asked for a child size portion & price for mum, that consideration was totally ignored. Mum's scampi was rock hard, she was unable to eat it, The Simla said that they would do her some more scampi but she had a full plate of chips with curry sauce (sauce extra cost) so I said no thanks. The Simla charged us full price for the set meal and told me to mention the rock hard scampi when I next go there. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting The Simla again. I will find somewhere new.

Forgot to take a photo of my food like a wally - but as long as this place has been open, the food has been consistently outstanding. There are some good Indian restaurants in Manchester but this is my favourite and I’ve been coming for the last 15 years or so. Staff are always friendly, the five for £12 makes the value even better.

Fantastic friendly restaurant. We arrived without booking a table and the staff were more than happy to find us a table at short notice. The food is very well cooked and there are English dishes to choose from also if your not an Indian food fan. The restaurant also does a take away service so can get busy at times with people picking up their takeaways and also people eating in. There is a £12.99 menu which has 5 courses on and you can add to this if you wish and pay the extra. Fantastic night, fantastic value, fantastic food and will definitely be visiting again.

Been to this Indian Resturant loads of times never ever had a bad meal here ... The staff make you very welcome and the food his Brilliant...Only thing i would say a bad word about going here is the Beer (Bitter) is rubbish the lager is ok but not my drink....

Went on a Friday night, was immediately seated in the corner. It took the waiters a while to come over to offer us drinks and the menu. However, once the food arrived, it was of high quality. Very nice well prepared dish. If the waiters were a bit more on the ball, it could have been a perfect visit. Can be quite cramped but a very nice setting.

Always enjoy coming here as it's my local curry house ..the five courses deal for £12 is excellent , the staff are very good too .I usually have mixed kebab starter and the wife chat Puri .. sometimes we just have a main between us and I can recommend the chicken tikka mekhani ...if I have a bad meal at a curry house I stop going ..been coming here 15 yrs now.

Éramos un grupo de 4 y tuvimos que esperar casi una hora y media para los entrantes. No un camarero vino o explicaron por qué tardó tanto tiempo y se disculpó por los entrantes y nos dieron pompadoms como a - primer plato de pre, que nunca pedimos pero tuvimos que pagar la factura cuando llegó. 2 de los 4 partidos se volvió enfermos después con dolores de estómago y la carrera del inodoro más tarde por la noche. Es una lástima, ya que parece la parte, y la comida no estaba mal.

We've been going to the Simla since it used to be in the old build and although we don't frequent as often these days we still try it once a month or so.The food is still excellent, the naga Bahar in particular superb. However apart from the manager Sammy, who can take a bit of getting used to' the rest seem a little 'fed up ' at times. The starter portions seem to shrink as well on each visit?Prices very good still with the £10.95 offer and hard to beat for value.

The menu here is miles apart from a bog standard curry house. The options of flavours & dishes are endless & the flavours are delicious. Even the rice options are excellent. We met people in there who have been going regularly for 15 years & I can understand why. Decor & seating are lovely & service was spot-on. If you're thinking this sounds very expensive, think again. Our bill was under £20 each for starters, mains, 2 rice & 3 alcoholic drinks. For this quality of food, that takes some beating.

Every time we visit my family from the US, Simla is a must! We always want to go here. Their deal for £10 or £15 (I forget - sorry) is unreal. 10 or 15 pound for the quality of food you get is great. The food is delicious, the staff are very pleasant, the atmosphere is chilled and casual. My only complaint is that we don't have a Simla in our home town. Highly recommended.

Been going to the Simla for years and it used to be the cream of the crop as far as Indian cuisine goes in the area. We made a visit after some time away and was very disappointed, the curry wasn't the same slightly bland, the rice was part cooked and the onion bahjis were cold and oily.

Decided not to cook & go out to tea, food was really good & hot served very quick, but the place was not busy at the time, there was the weekly deal on so we had what we wanted to eat. The prices were really good for what we had & with drinks on the bill. Would definitely tell people to go & try it if not already done so.

The Simla is a smart modern restaurant with a good local reputation. Our visit was on a Monday evening with a few friends. The food was pleasant without being exceptional.....good value also. The beer was ok but expensive.The service was average.......good in part but not over attentive........the staff were pleasant.

Went new years eve Flat beer, dirty enviroment, main course came before starter! starter was cold, the bill was wrong £10.00 more than it should of been, bad stomach all new years day!! never again
