Silverstar Takeaway Ltd in Hartlepool

The Cantonese style sweet and sour chicken was far to sour, tasted like vinegar and it gave me a watery sour mouth so had to stop eating. Chicken balls chewy, tasteless and soggy. Chips soggy, prawn toast was basically sesame seeds on soggy bread and the prawn crackers were soft oh and the diet coke was 2 months out of date. Will never order again, waste of very expensive food.

The customer service by the American lady is always very poor plus they got a simple order wrong and now I can’t be refunded or swap for the meal I asked for never going to this crappy take away again they want to get some new staff with better manners

Second time I have ordered the £9.50 meal deal of starter, main course and can or prawn crackers. On both occasions instead of sending beef as requested they have sent chicken, is this a way of keeping costs down and making more profit? Have loved this take away for many years but now considering using someone else.

Don't buy the lunch time menu it is a con, and only limited choice. I ordered a fried rice dish it came in a smaller tray with only 20p difference to the night time dish with is much bigger tray. I noticed The curry dishes was the same price as the night time one and came in a smaller tray. Why would you pay the same for a smaller portions to night time menu What iv noticed is everything has gone up in price but meats, chicken, prawns portions are smaller Just pure greed and ripping off the customer no wonder it is empty on a lunch time

Absolutely dreadful service. Website is faulty,initially delivered to wrong address. Freezing when finally arrived. Takeaway owner called, got angry and abusive on the phone. No refund given. Do not use this takeaway.

Bought a expensive meal and due to box it was put in , the box collapsed within minutes ,my meal wasted,ended up on ground ,shop refused to accept responsibility

AVOID THIS PLACE ..hartlepool york road I purchased an exspensive munch box £16.50 and managed to walk 25 foot before pizza box disentrigated my entire meal ended up on ground.i contacted the shop and informed them to be called a liar !!!! This would not of happened had rice of been packed properly in seperate container!! The heat of rice obviously moisted box and weight caused sheer collapse . Will never return here was not even offered replacement or even refund .!!!!@

I can’t believe the way the owner had just spoke to me on the phone!! Gave us the wrong food and the chicken balls were burnt with no chicken in at all.. usually get beef curry as the chicken had always been dry anyway. Fair to say the chips are nice from here but will never be ordering again as the owner needs to sort his attitude right out.

Absolutely disgusting meal tonight!!! Literally the noodles fell out in one piece from the container, rubbery like they had been microwaved and still hard. No taste. Chicken was burnt to a crisp. Everything was shocking I wouldn’t of dared sent it out! Rang and complained for me to have to scrape and rebate the order wait 25 mins for another. I rang before it arrived for the second time and asked them to cancel and just request a refund as the meal had in total taken so long it was the children’s bedtime so it was pointless to get redelivered. The manager who owns it refused! Such a greedy man. Customer service was shocking. The second meal arrived and I could of made better Chinese food my self. It was again awful. The worst meal Iv ever had and is still bagged up.. The Chinese man who owned it didn’t care to resolve it I generally just think he can’t cook but happily takes your money knowing it’s dissatisfying. Please don’t even give here a chance!!!!!

Always great food & hot , Can't fault King prawn chicken fried rice best in town & curry sauce too , chips sometimes warmed up but apart from that go every week.

Using Egg Powder instead of Real Eggs, been using it for years used to be very good but has gone down recently, needs to improve quickly, or they'll be more people like me not going again.

precooked chips tasted raw and felt like rubber, order arrived within 10 minutes of ordering, rang the shop complained offered a replacement which was refused by us then we request a refund and we were refused, definitely won't use this take away again.

The food was absolutely. I dont know whats happened to this place but the food has gone down hill to the point the only way it could go further is if didn't get made. They said it would take 45 mins but it only took 10 and the chips were raw. Would not recomend

I grew up with my family using this Chinese,and I'm sure over that 40 year it has changed hands etc,but for me the food is still the same and still really lovely.the chips have always been spot on lol.looks like the next 40 year is gna b a tasty 1 .

Ordered a starter of pork dumplings and a main of beef curry and boiled rice, dumplings very nice and beef curry was gorgeous! Little hint, ask for the rice and curry (or whatever you order) to be all in one round tray.

Awful only postive bit was the fact it was open. Noodles very dry sauce i think they missed out the sour from the sweet and sour tasted really acidic and chicken greasy. Chips really dry and look like they have just been left for some time. would never return to this chinese again awful very disappointed.

I cant imagine what just happened now.... this is the very worst food have ever had in any Chinese... I got king prawn singapore noodles and king prawn in batter and I spent £14.90. Only the order to come and found out is a mess and a waste of money... imagine half slice of king prawn in a heavy oily bhorrbleatter. And the noodles look horrible and also taste worse. And no any sence of customer orientation... they are all blank....

i use this take away often and the reason why is the curry, its amazing its spicy and has a great consistency with the fried rice, amazing place tried others but nothing can match there beef curry.

Way over £priced£. Worst food I've tasted in a long time. Are lass didn't take another mouth full of her chow main. And she loves chow main. She says the first mouth full was like a eating bush tucker trail. Disgusting. Stay away if you want to keep your taste buds.!!!

Please don’t go here ....our chicken/beef curry was cold and powdery ...rice had hard lumps in...chips were warmed up. ..and prawn crackers were wet ...they forgot the drinks ...we phoned and they were sending fresh out ...after 2 hours we rang back and told them to leave it ....this is in the food poison area ....there’s much nicer ones. 1st & definitely last time.

Been coming to this takeaway for a few years now- great selection of quality meals to choose from- my particular favourite is the beef in plum sauce...absolutely delish! I always have a good meal from here 👍. How ever I've just been back food was ok but they have put the prices up and you now have to spend £15 to a free bag of prawn crackers not good ☹

Visited this takeaway for the first time in 10 years. All four meals were perfect. Tasty, hot, and plenty. Will definitely be visiting again next week. Great value.

First time ordering from and was actually suggested by a regular customer. Everything was terrible. The mix platter was dry and warm. The prawn curry contained two prawns. The crispy shredded beef was absolutely awful. It was meant to be served in sweet and sour sauce. Which it wasn't. The spring rolls where greasy. Will definitely not be returning

Nuestra primera experiencia de comida china en Hartlepool, no volveremos. Arroz frito con pollo. Pedimos Arroz fue quemada pollo había sido colocada encima de arroz, cocidas y en el medio del arroz era un montón de jamón y cerdo?! En serio, ¿por qué el pollo arroz frito con jamón?! Más repugnantes Chino que he probado tbh.

El mejor arroz frito curry especial que he tenido!!! No puedo opinar sobre otras comidas, pero si es curry que busca, que recomiendo encarecidamente. Nota de advertencia: No comer pan de gambas como asistente no parece lavarse las manos antes de ensacado ellos después de manipular dinero cualquier utilizando el hasta!!! Puaj!!!

He probado todos los chinos en la ciudad, este lugar es para morirse.. Cada persona que he deje probar mi Chino es ahora un regular. La salsa es rica y para morirse, nos dan una especial chow Mein silver star. Comidas con carne y gambas. Si te gusta la comida de alta calidad con ricos sabores aromáticos. No hay otro lugar..

Hemos usado este llevar muchas veces y siempre he tenido buenas comidas. Las patatas fritas y salsa son de primera clase. chow mein y chop suey" al platillo especial son platos de primera clase.

There are just some places you dream over when you are away from home and this is one of them. Never expensive and the lunch specials are great value, to the person below who complained that thier chow mien had no slices of meat there are two specials, the Chinese and the Silver Star special, even on a night one has small bits and one has slices and both are delicious. Never tried the delivery as I have legs but they are fast and the food is hot every time, ring and five minutes later it's waiting for you or sit and wait, you can even ask for things to be changed slightly ie I never eat prawns so I ask for the special without and get it so they must make it fresh..I love it, I hope you will too.

had an afternoon special today.got special chowmein.NO MEAT IN IT.i phoned to see why.the chef apparently said we dont put the sliced meat in on an afternoon special.so why is it a special?you get meat in normaly so they giving it a little bit cheaper but you not getting what you pay for.my son had one the day before and his had meat in?i have been using this chinese for 25 year but sytandards have dropped.the curry looks more like burnt gravy these days and the chicken not as nice as used to be.well time to move on i think.goldenbird it is.
