We really enjoyed the food, especially the ribs.

I was parked nearby, and decided to give them a try. I like my food spicy, so asked for an extra spicy chow mein. My meal was tasty, but not in the least bit spicy.

Ordered a takeaway from just eat. Delivery was quick & driver was very friendly & polite. My sons special fried rice was ashe put it bloody gorgeous, my pancake roll was the best I've ever had & believe me I've had a fair few in my lifetime & my kung po chicken was amazing. I can honestly say this is probably the best chinese takeaway I've ever had. I don't live nearby, if I did you'd be top of my takeaway list, my son lives in Plymouth & will definitely use you guys again. Thanks for an amazing meal. Tracey & son.

Tried them for the first time yesterday evening. Delivery was good. My wife had beef and green pepper in black bean sauce and I had Szechuan chicken, chilli garlic in black bean sauce. Will certainly eat from there again. Very Good.

I had a takeaway tonight and it was the best Thai I've had in ages. Plus because it was only for myself, they didn't over fill the containers, so not waste I love that. I had satay chicken was amazing and sweet chilli chicken, pineapple yum yum yum. Ordered off uber eats no problem with delivery at all. Spot on highly recommended

Phoned to specifically ask for extra spicy wet Chow Mein, picked it up to find out it’s dry with absolutely no spice and a taste of the wok, impressive. Pleasant staff otherwise.

I had beef and mushroom in black bean sauce , with no black bean sauce , astonishing , chicken noodle soup with nothing but noodles ‼️ Not good

Best chinese takeaway in plymouth started going direct to them as it's about 15-20% cheaper then just-eat. Use to be my childhood takeaway aswell, after moving back to the area I couldn't wait to come back here. And they never disappoint. Would be a 5 star 🌟 but with our last order we found out they have stopped doing mine and my daughters favorite dish 😥😱😭(smoked shredded chicken) P.S please bring back the smoked shredded chicken lol About to make an order and I see smoked shredded chicken is back! Ordered directly through silver bird website and an hour later still no food, assuming delayed I called to double check and they had no order for us, this was 5mins before the restaurant closed, they asked to call me back whilst they looked into it, I didnt hold much hope until they called me back and said the order was found and would be out within 20mins and roughly 15mins later it turned up, the delivery driver was very apologetic and between the restaurant and delivery driver they gave us some complimentary items for the mix up which was appriciated and on further positive news the food was also really nice, so thanks silver bird for a wonderful meal if a bit late haha

Wasn't sure where to order our Chinese from but so pleased we chose 'Silver Bird'. The food was delicious and very tasty, would definitely order again next time we fancied a takeaway.

Probably the best Chinese place I've been too and certainly is my favorite the only fault I would give it is when ordering it fro uber eats the delivery charge is a little expensive however doesn't stop me from ordering this delicious food.

I found this golden little gem whilst in lock down and they have never failed to serve good Quality, hot food. I was told there would be a 90 minute wait even though I live around the corner from them (there so busy fence the wait) but the owner personally came out to deliver our food and it arrived in half an hour. Definitely a happy customer 😊

We were willing to give the new owners a chance as we have been getting takeaway from here for decades. Today, after being disappointed yet again, we will be finding somewhere else. We were told our meal would be with us in 90 minutes, after two hours we rang and were told they'd not even started it. The woman on the phone couldn't give a damn. Such a shame as this takeaway was one of the best in Plymouth when John ran it.

Amazing food great texture and taste and is also really flavourful and delicious overall, the staff are really helpful and suggest the best dish they think you would like depending if you want sweet or salty and just amazing place overall ! No complaints just is an amazing local restaurant:)

The food was really tasty, fresh and good value in my opinion. I've eaten at quite a few Chinese restaurants in the local area and this is one of the best. The staff are friendly also. Delivery time was as stated, even slightly early which was a plus as these restaurants have a habit of being late. Overall though I was very happy and would recommend and definitely going to order again.

Normally lovely and good reviews given. The chicken was inedible, no texture and really fatty I had to spit it out and it put me off everything.

Possibly the worst Chinese I’ve ever had since it’s been taken over. Used to be really nice, order a beef curry and the meat was tough, ordered the new salt and pepper chicken balls, they came cut in half and completely solid, batter would crack your teeth and the chicken was like a rock. Rice was stodgy and almost like jelly!! If you can avoid going there I definitely would

Excellent food we had satay chicken which took me back to Singapore as a toddler and sweet and sour pork and barbecue ribs and sezhwan beef all Excellent hope they deliver to st Budeaux as well as staying with a friend on the barbican.

Best Take-away I have tasted. Bought too much for 2 people but kept what was left, it was far too good to be thrown away.

This chinese was ok before.. but it's come under new management last 6 months and now it's so much better! Absolutely amazing! X

Ordered a take away for two, it turned up in the time slot we were given, the delivery lady was super friendly! The food was really nice, lovely flavours, really fresh vegetables, not packed with onions and green peppers like a lot of take away restautants do. Will be ordering again!

Order from Silverbird from the website and it should have came to just over £30 but instead came to £41.40 a extra £11.40 more than worked out im fuming

Was great before, is now even better!!!! We ordered 5 main dishes (Satay Chicken, Beef curry, mixed meat chow mein, chicken chow mein and BBQ roast pork on egg fried rice), plus chicken balls and mini spring rolls. We were informed that the Silver Bird had changed owners and that they have a new chef. Guys, keep hold of that guy! That man can cook! The place was great before, but it's now even better. The previous chef will be back, too, so they will have a really talented team together. The Satay Chicken dish was just yummy, slightly spicy and lovely peanutty. Both chow meins were delicious, the mix meat now also had duck in it, in addition to the usual beef, chicken and King prawn. I did miss the water chestnut, but that's just a minor point and didn't take away from the lovely dish. Hubby had the beef curry and absolutely loved it. He's 47 and his parents had always ordered from Silver Bird and we carried that tradition on. His go to dish was always the beef curry and he said that it was even nicer this time. My youngest had the BBQ pork. He usually doesn't like Chinese food, but he's converted (yay 😁). He already has his eye on another dish for our next order. We were a bit surprised when the chicken balls turned out to be battered chicken filets, but who cares about the shape, anyway? We don't and they're easier to eat that way. The Sweet and sour sauce was delicious and I could have eaten it with a spoon. You definitely tasted that it was homemade and it was a lovely change to the gloopy shop bought sauce that usually comes with the order. As a family of chefs we love food and recognise the methods involved to create dishes and notice changes immediately, which, admittedly, can also make us hard to please. Nothing to fault with this order. Keep up the good work, guys. We will definitely recommend you.

After the other glowing reviews I popped in here just now, quite possibly the worst Chinese I've ever had in my 46 years, the rice looked dirty had a really odd taste to it with zero flavour. The crispy shredded beef was inedible so dark from being over fried and dry impossible to chew. With zero sauce. I think the beef soaked it up do quickly as its so dry it's literally like strips of leather avoid

I had to try this one after imperial garden was closed for 3 weeks. It took me years to find a decent one. So as this one looked o.k in the reviews I thought I'd try it. So I ordered two dishes...However, Noodles tasted burnt, chow main had canned ham!!!. Really? We ate this in the 1960's. I'm not saying it was awful, as it was ok (I was 10 cans in🤔). But when you've been eating top food for years it's hard to go down hill. Looks like I'm on a Chinese diet until my favourite reopens. The delivery driver was brilliant.

Just started using this takeaway, it was recommended by a friend. We have had several meals from them and found the food to be excellent. The delivery was quick, the food hot, and there were generous portions. it's great to find a decent Chinese takeaway after trying the others. We won't use any other.

Best Chinese take away in Plymouth for me. You have to try Chop Wui Chow Mein. Love it.

As i said it wasnt till i got home to drink it i noticed im sure if you check all the ones that are stating "from a multi pack must not be sold seperatley" you will see im right. And as for half returned lies we hardly touched it

John Wayne: at your own admission you've received your refund without problem, even though you said the food was tasteless and trash but less then half was returned. As for the drink if you had stated that it was consumed we would had happily refund them as well, but please do not stated that we're selling out do date product because you did not get refund for something you did not returned!

whenever i visit plymouth i head straight for this place. the hong kong king prawns are to die for and the time it takes to get food ready is very good even on busy nights. keep up the good work jonny and staff.

Completly tasteless bar the chillie that i actually asked to not include did receive a refund without much problem however deducted my drinks that i didnt realise were actually out off date defiantly wont be coming back food is trash!!!

Had the Sweet and sour chicken balls, Bland and whatever taste there was tasted like a pile of sugary syrup, Best friend had the Honey Spare Ribs and they had lots of meat but, again, were tasteless. Also had the Chop Wui chow mein, Oyster sauce tasted fishy and rank. And the prawns and meat were over-cooked. Same for the vegetables. Honestly i'm very disappointed and will not be eating from here ever again.

A small little place that looks like it could do with a refurbishment. The meal was rather disappointing. Egg Fried Rice - Very dry seemed as if it was 2nd time around. Chips - Soggy and not very well cooked. Chicken Curry - Not too bad at all. BBQ Spare Ribs - Plenty of meat but rather flavourless. Prawn Crackers - Free but very greasy. Overall rather disappointed with the meal but that could just be my previous experiences from other establishments. Pricing is on par with other takeaway places.

Bought chicken curry & Singapore chow mein. The chicken was like rubber & the chow mein noodles greasy with very little meat/prawns. Very disappointed as we regularly use this take away.
