We stayed in Brora for 3 nights on the last leg of doing the NC500 and had read excellent reviews on Sid’s Spice. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is clean, modern and tastefully decorated. The service was great and the food amazing. We ate in there 2 of the 3 nights. We found the prices reasonable so not expensive for such an excellent meal.

We had the most amazing curry ever, we all said it was the best we have had, not to spicy (I find other Indian restaurants state mild but it’s not) just enough that I finished the dish (often find to much in dish which puts me off), serving was great and they were very friendly. Price good £120 for 4 of us with drinks. Can’t recommend it enough. Sadly we live 4 hours away and we were only on holiday or it would be my go to Indian. But we will be back on our next holiday to Brora, hopefully next year.

The food in Sid’s Spice is as authentic and tasty as any I have enjoyed travelling in India and better than most restaurants I have tried here in the uk. I loved my popadom, meat samosas and South Indian garlic chilli curry. The large pieces of chicken in my curry just melted in my mouth. My family all had different dishes and they all loved their meals too. This restaurant is a gem considering what a remote part of Scotland it is located in. If you love your curries you need to eat here. The restaurant is a small family run business with a clean modern comfortable interior. Due to its small size and limited parking make sure you book in advance if you want to eat in or grab something from their takeaway menu. I will be heading back again and trying their Chicken Naga curry as I love challenging myself with really spicy dishes.

Sid’s claim to be the best Indian restaurant / takeaway on the NC500 may well be true. There aren’t many others. So if you appreciate the occasional curry, call in here. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Very good lamb biryani with accompaniments - recommended. If you want to make a picnic, the Co-op 5 minutes walk away is a handy source of drinks.

This is a solid Indian take away. We had some good vegetarian choices, that I hadn't come across before. Recommended when you're staying in Brora.

Go for it! You will not be disappointed. Great food. Great prices. Great service. Could not fault a single thing with our meal. We dropped in having been for a day out in John o Groats and were heading home. Hungry for curry we stopped here for the first time. Let me tell you we will be back. Already planning making this a regular dinner stop if we venture north.

Passed this restaurant on way to work site , decided this would be a good place to get our evening meal ! On returning from work we went in and were seated immediately. We studied the menu and decided on what we were going to have . Gave the young male waiter our order. He brought our drinks . Then we waited and waited . Eventually after asking we got our starter . This was chicken pakura as they call it and onion baji ! The chicken pakura was chicken nuggets ! The baji were ok ! When we ordered the meal we were told the tandoori chicken tikka came “dry” and on a sizzle plate . So we ordered a medium curry sauce . The tandoori chicken tikka came on a normal plate which was kind of disappointing and the chicken was cut into small slices,not large chucks of breast like you usually get in Indian restaurants! The amount of chicken was very disappointing also ! No curry sauce arrived and when asked a different waiter said the tikka came dry ! We explained we ordered a sauce ! He disappeared and returned to say the chef was coming ! We continued to eat our meal and as we finished the chef arrived with the sauce and a plate of tikka and said sorry short staffed busy night ! This on the house ! Sauce was to late in coming as we had finished the Nan bread! To sumerise very slow service , inexperienced staff , food quantity miserable and very expensive for what you get ! Very disappointed ☹️! We will not be going back!

Fab meal - a few young waiters who are learning but do thier best to serve you. Everyone has to learn! We shall definitely return as every mouthful was a sheer delight!

This food was delicious and the service was excellent. I had the most amazing curry and rice. We wanted to leave a tip, however they told us they didn’t except tips. This was so humble and amazing. They were voted 2nd best curry/Indian in Scotland (I don’t remember lol) but they should be first. Perfect restaurant if you are in highland Scotland!

Our family if 8 ordered a take away using their online ordering. It was straight forward and the food was ready in time and all in order. The food was without exception delicious! Every dish was tasty! Although the pakora was not what we were used to from Glasgow based Indian restaurants it was still good and enjoyed. Don’t miss out eating here.

I’m not sure what food was being served but it was not Indian. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was bright red and the only taste was coconut milk. I would question whether it was even freshly made. It was awful. The naan was doughy and tasteless. We barely touched our food and got the bill and left. On the plus side, the young man who took our order was lovely and we did enjoy the after dinner mints that came with the bill ( best part of the meal).

Enjoyed a lovely, tasty, Indian meal here last night, good service from the young lad too. Lovely, clean surroundings. Extensive menu but went for the old favourites, Jalfrezi and pasanda, Palau rice and a Nan bread. Likely try the carry out when next here with he caravan.

Great food and service at aside Spice yesterday. We were a party of 4 adults and one baby. When we arrived a high chair was already at the table end though we hadn’t asked for it. Our order was taken by a lovely young man. The chicken tikka masala was awesome. I would recommend anyone staying in or travelling through Brora to give Sid Spice a visit. It also has plenty of parking outside.

We have eaten in countless Indian restaurants over 50 years, and this restaurant in remote north eastern highlands is definitely one of the very best EVER. It was great last year, but has somehow improved. Very clean, modern-looking premises, attractive menu, good prices, succinct wine options, excellent service. What a joy, in a small village that is very lucky to have it. Well done everyone. We will definitely returning when we visit the area in the future 9 we love it around here)

Their curry's are far from authentic and priced ridiculously. You can get a curry twice this size, 10 times as good and likely buy 2 of them most places for the price you pay for 1 here. Didn't even inform us they add a service charge themselves. We booked a table for 2 so it's not like it was a big booking, I'm happy to tip but how arrogant is it that they do it instead of letting you decide? This place used to be well renound and they boast on their flyers about being the second best rated Indian restaurant in Scotland. Well, I'm guessing whoever rated that has a fairly bland palate or the place used to be good and since they got lazy and let that rating carry them. Because the food was sub par but the prices suggested they actually thought it was worth it which I find even more astonishing. The spice and flavours seem to suggest they think that if you throw a mix of spice together on top of a generic base it might just work...it doesn't. When you have a curry made with care and passion you should have a progression of flavours and spice that compliment and enhance each other. The food we had just seemed like the curry was made with a 'meh that'll do' attitude. My recommendation, if you want a good curry, get the train to wick or go South, get 10 times better food and hey, the money you save compared to their over priced dinner may even be enough to cover your train fair!

Who in their right mind said this is the 2nd best Indian restaurant in Scotland? Did they go when they didn't have any taste buds or was it their first time trying Indian food. The food is definitely not authentic. Been to many Indian restaurants and this does not even make it in the top 50. It's something you would eat after a long night drinking and would still not be desirable.

This is a top tier local curry house. Friendly staff, very tasty food. The menu has a nice mix of familiar classics and specials. Everything we tried was full of flavour and nicely portioned. A must visit if you're in the area and like curry.

Sid offers a lovely sit in restaurant but for our visit this time we opted for take out. We have eaten in twice and took out a fair few times. But regardless of which way you are eating your food it is always first class....

We ordered a couple of meals for takeaway during our stay in Golspie.The food was still piping hot by the time we drove back to Golspie and it was well worth the trip. The lamb tikka balti and south Indian garlic chicken tikka with pilau rice and garlic nan was absolutely delicious. One of the best curries we have tasted for a while. If you are in the area please give it a try we highly recommended it

We get takeaway from here every time we visit Brora in our motorhome. The choice is really good and the food is excellent. Sid keeps his website up to date with opening times, especially during the pandemic. I'd recommend this restaurant to everyone. I hope people keep using him when we're allowed to eat out again.

Contrary to the last 2 poor reviews, we have just enjoyed a lovely Indian takeaway while visiting Brora. Perhaps the restaurant was just struggling to get up and running again post lock down? We found the portion size of both starters and main courses to be more than adequate. The food tasted fresh and delicious and the service was great.All in all a lovely meal. Thank you Sid's Spice.

Pakora comprises 4 meagre pieces per portion. Chicken pakora is chicken in batter.Lamb Rogan Josh was beef. The sauce was old congealed gravy heated up. It was far from fresh and very sweet.King Prawn Kashmiri was King Prawn Korma with bananas.The nan bread was like rubber and was a heated up supermarket nan. Far from clear how this business claims to be second best in Scotland.Suggestion.Try harder. Stop conning your customers.

Ordered online, great experience. Menu really helped selection of dishes to suit our palate and stated desired pick up time. That’s where the good bits endedGot a call to say despite pickup being 45 mins away needed another 15 mins and on arrival still had to wait.At best food was average, very mild despite menu saying otherwise and the Dahl was like thin cheap lentil soup. Coconut rice was like rice and sawdust!Given price was expensive, not great value!

In the restaurant, I waited over 40 mins for a takeaway, which never arrived. Gave up after 40 mins and got my money back.

Had a New Year’s Eve meal here and it didn’t disappoint. Yes - it did take a long time to get our food but the owner was very apologetic and gave us a free round of drinks but you could clearly see how busy they were so I fully understand! The food was worth the wait and was freshly cooked & hot and well presented. There’s a wide variety of dishes on the menu and an English section if you’re not a fan of Indian food. 5/5 would definitely recommend!

We had an excellent meal, enjoyed by all.We arrived to place the order on a very busy evening in the restaurant, so unfortunately had a long wait but didn’t mind going away and returning. Despite this I have to say the service was the best I have ever seen in an Indian restaurant and the staff at the counter were very hospitable.

Visited Sids for a 2nd time on our last trip to Brora in October and again it was absolutely superb. Tried a different meal off the menu, mouthwatering! The service was first class. Simply the best Indian dishes I have ever had! Even the four dips/chutneys that came with the poppadoms were delicious and freshly made. Beautifully flavoured meals.

We visited on a Sunday night in mid November, would have expected it to be quiet, it turned out to be very busy with both sit in and takeaway customers. The food was excellent. The poppadums were thicker than usual and came with a tray of four chutneys that were different to the usual ones served in other restaurants. We both tried different specialities which were cooked to perfection and expertly spiced.

2 of us out for a meal, one who doesn't like Indian so had the steak which was plentiful and nicely cooked. Other diner was very happy with the food and said it was excellent. Helpful friendly staff, everything as it should be and more so. would definately come back when in the area

Fantastic curry. Well worth a visit particularly if you are on the north coast 500. Try the dhansac its fantastic. Couple of pieces of pineapple which was a surprisingly pleasant addition.

Nothing too pretentious on the decor front, just looks like any other curry house but the real beauty of this place is the food. Flavourful fresh curry well cooked. Well worth the trip.
