Sidewalk in Birmingham

Piped in with some friends after food near by. Great venue and decor, fab large Photo Booth too. When we got there the cocktails were 2 4 £12, no sign of them going up but after 9pm they went to 2 4 £18, defo not worth that and I felt a bit ripped off. Whilst it was chilled and laid back, It was quieter than I anticipated which meant it lacked atmosphere. Friendly staff. Will defo return for drinks in the future, only during the offer time though

Nice place, great decor and clean. Drinks were reasonable for the area. I feel Sidewalk suffers from being more of a late night venue as when we came (around 7pm,) it was dead with no atmosphere, not their fault, but maybe something to aim for. I also feel it suffers from the same fate as many other LGBTQIA+ venues in that it seems to attract mostly women/hen nights rather than LGBTQIA+ customers. Perhaps something to focus on?

Saturday visit fairly quiet for a Saturday evening and remember the past when most of the gay area was packed with gays. Venue was light airy friendly and reasonable. Great music and drinks reasonably priced I’m sure it gets busier but left at 10:30pm. Will visit every time I’m back in brum.

Went for drinks before heading to another bar. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. We were politely asked for ID as we looked young. They had a brilliant range of drinks and good drinks offers on throughout the week. The inside was decorated wonderfully and they had a photo station which was amazing. The pricing was reasonable and the place was right on the gay village main road.

Poor! Treat everyone cuetomer as thought they are trying to scam them. A member of staff had taken a drinknof my partners. When contacted the mstaff were treating us as thieves or scam artists. A shame as before covid they were closing due to a lack of custom. Yet here we are. Poor upto.er service Poor management Poor ownership! Surprising since inhav3 worked on the scene for a while and they still treat people in such a way

this was one of the best bars i have been to in gay village, drinks were reasonable prices, atmosphere and music was so so good. everyone was just so friendly, dancing and singing with each the. highly recommend, my favourite bar right now.

Wasn’t allowed in despite having a valid form of ID. Door staff gave no reasoning for them not knowing the law and instead ignored me. Don’t bother.

Great for a place to drink with friends. I go there fairly often at lunchtime. A lively atmosphere in the evenings.

Allowed me plus 3 friends in and sat us at a table. My mother plus 2 friends tried to get a table repeatedly on same evening but they would not let them in. They let other (younger) groups in straight afterwards. No response when manager & bouncer were asked. Blatant age discrimination. Would not come here again. Place is full of teenagers — great if that’s your thing. If not I wouldn’t bother at all. I’d go down the road to The Village — far more friendly and better atmosphere!

Sat down with 4 friends on Friday afternoon 4pm and was approached by a member of the team who rather abruptly said you cannot be in here wearing a man bag and joggers ! I was shocked and saddened to be treated like this in a community which is supposed to be all inclusive no matter of gender or style ! One of the girls I was with had a large handbag which was accepted but a ‘man bag’ was not !! To be judged by how you look Without due reason or care in 2020 is not acceptable !!!

just been here...with 4 friends and was told to leave due to 2 of my friends wearing tracksuit bottoms and that one of them was wearing a man bag...this is at 4pm on the afternoon when the place is very quiet. Just unreal to judge people with what they wear at 4pm in the afternoon.

I visited Sidewalk 125 - 127 Hurst Street Birmingham for a drink On Saturday afternoon whilst shopping in Birmingham on way to car park as it was a hot day. This is a spacious bar light and airy with ample seating and the staff are friendly and helpful. It has easy street level access with outside seating if required. CORVID - They operate social distancing with table service and contactless payment if preferred. They ask you to complete a small form for tracing purposes (some sort of tracing recording system is common now in venues I found). Definitely will visit again.

From one gay venue to another, we came out on our quiet night to support other venues, we sat outside had a few drinks, great price btw! Loved my cocktails met a few people, nice couple of hrs out x

Sidewalks had an amazing refurb, it’s welcoming, fun and a great night out. Cocktails are fantastic, served by some very friendly and helpful staff and there available all night. Lots of great seating, Prices are decent for a city centre venue and the DJs are on point with the tunes. No need to move onto anywhere else know your in here.

A really great bar to be in on a Saturday night. Friendly bar staff and excellent prices. Add that to a fantastic Dj and it makes a great night.

A fantastic night always to be had at this place.The atmosphere is electric. The music is oustanding and bar prices are very very reasonable. In the middle of Gay Village and always somewhere we head for. A great night for anyone, full of friendly people and very friendly professional staff.

Came in on Thursday 28th November 2019. Bar staff, Jodie and Brad, were knowledgable not only with drinks and offers but also with local knowledge which helped me immensely.Also the chef, Michael, made me food to off menu instructions and didi it to perfection. my only criticism, you need better or more or working masters because the bread was oddly cooked.

5 of us went for lunch and drinks Sunday afternoon, we usually use loft round the corner, we all had steaks for lunch, well priced @ 2 for £12.00, must say the food was excellent, steaks were perfectly cooked as ordered, tender and fat free, garlic mushrooms just as I like them and everything else hot and tasty... highly recommended the food, beers were well priced, carling £2.50 a pint which Is good for city centre . Unfortunately the place was very quiet, not their fault but I like a bit of atmosphere and was very cold in there, a little heating while dining is nice...

Me and the boyf came for food. We both had hunters chicken. It was delicious nice and hot. We only waited 15 mins. We really enjoy coming to sidewalk nice to see the food improving

Having dined at most venues offering food around Hurst Street, all I can say is since the new head chef came in at Sidewalk, the food has improved massively. The skyscraper was to die for, and my partner's mixed grill was perfectly cooked and presented. The bar staff's response time to the dinner bell meant the food came out piping hot.All in all lovely staff who couldn't help you enough. Can't recommend highly enough.

We herd a rumor there was a new head chef. Me and a few friends poped in for a quick meal before we went to see a show and omg it was amazing, we had eaten there before and the food wasn't great but there has been a huge improvement since this new chef started. We have the 2-£12 steaks and they where cooked to perfection and a couple of beef burgers. Amazing.so nice to see the food improving. We asked the barman who the new chef was and he said his name is Matt. Also we all had cocktails they were amazing. . Will definitely be returning

Stopped off with a friend for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The 2 for £10 menu is definitely good value with good quality food. The place was quiet when we were there. Service was fast and friendly

Visité el mes pasado con algunos amigos. La comida era increíble, también tenía un tiempo de espera muy corto para la comida que era una ventaja. Me encanta el ambiente animado cuando voy, que es una de las razones por las que visito mucho. Buena música. El personal es educado y muy atento.

Vine aquí para tomar un cóctel, el lugar estaba medio vacío, luego de decir que vendieron cócteles al llegar al bar, nos dijeron que dejaran de servirlos a las 8 a pesar de una variedad de ingredientes detrás del bar. Barman fue amigable y le preguntó a su manager si podía hacernos algo y dijo rotundamente que no! ¡Tanto para el cliente es lo primero, no lo recomendaría y no volvería!

Awful service. Awful professionalism by the manager who didn’t even know what he was doing. Prices have gone up so much higher than last year with a dead atmosphere.

Great atmosphere, in the gay village with drinks prices to attract any one! Stopped in for a couple during a recent stay, busy, good music, nice outside seating area and as I said cracking drinks offers. Worth a visit!

My husband and I visited on Saturday 28/7/18 in the late afternoon. Placed our orders for food two steaks, which they did not have enough for two, so I went for the chicken platter. Sat down, the bar staff came over we are out of the chicken. I checked to be sure this included the roast chicken too which got a sarcastic reply. I let it go because it could sound like a silly question. So ordered the steak and Ale Pie. The food came no starter? I questioned this that was out too so we had to ask fro a refund (it was not offered until prompting). The Steak and Ale pie turned out to have kidney in it which I hate. So challenged the staff who swore it didn't, until finally checking the packaging. While this was going on my husband steak, cooked medium rare, was tough as old boots. We did have a my meal refunded though not the tough steak. All in all a great let down. We have been many times before but not be eating there again.

I really do want to like this Pub more; It's very tastefully set-out, decorated & dressed; has some interesting artwork of Gay Icons (though notably absent of the legend that is Freddie Mercury) and the bar-staff are both very pleasant and capable.

Attitude from staff was absolutely appaling. Ordered the chilli which looked like a sloppy mess on a plate, rice was mash and was missing the garlic bread and sour cream. Food was awful. Customer service was non existant. Would give 0 if I could.

We regularly eat lunch here, 2 really nice steaks for £10 is hard to beat, especially as the quality is excellent. Drinks are good value too, and. The staff are very friendly. Service is quick (at lunchtime when it is quiet at least, don't know about the evening). Very good value, very good quality.

Visited with friends unfortunately were to late for food The place is really nice with a nice atmosphere and the beer garden was lovely with heaters for comfort will be back

We visited Birmingham and decided to look for some food. We saw 2 for £10 advertised on the window and decided to give it a try. It is a trendy little place and the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Both my friend and I opted for the 8oz steaks and giggled that they wouldn’t be up to much for £5 each. The laugh was on us as the steaks were delicious and tender. I had chips and my friend had roast potatoes. You even get peas/salad, mushrooms, peppercorn sauce and onion rings. To say the meal was good value was an understatement and much better than other meals where I have paid 3-4 times the same amount for the same product. Well done to the cook and if we visit Birmingham again, we’ll be back.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita a la acera. El restaurante/bar tiene una 'poca gente con gran cantidad de espacios entre las mesas y un ambiente agradable. Me recibieron con una sonrisa de bienvenida en el bar del barman/camarero que creo que se llamaba Jay. Nada era demasiado problema para él y él pronto tomó nuestra orden. Pedimos dos sopas como entrantes, pastel de carne con cerveza, cadera y una botella de tinto de la casa.

Visita aquí alrededor de una vez al mes, normalmente en el día y una para la comida y unos cócteles. El cóctel ofrece son geniales y los amaneceres tequilla son algunos de los mejores que he probado. La comida también es buena, pero siempre hay un poco de espera. Hace noche realmente concurrido temprano cuando la música se hace más, así que siempre hay que dejar antes de que se llene de escandalosos.

Always love returning to this place which is a great asset in the heart of the Gay Village. It's relaxed environment just begs for lost hours of chilled chattin', chowin' and cocktail drinkin'. A super friendly staff add the icing to the cake. 😙

Came here over the weekend for food. As the menus were still out we assumed Kitchen was open but wen we got to the bar to order our food a rude gentleman told us kitchen was not open. As someone that works in the Catering business I suggest removing your menus off the tables and teach the correct way to speak to customers. We went to Loft Lounge anyway (round the corner) food was amazing there.

Nice dinner you get a large portion for the value there is also a large variety to choose from, the staff are very friendly and approachable there is comfortable seating in here during the day and evenings there is a nice night life and good music and drinks deals, they also do cocktails and the list is quite extensive. All round pleasant experience

A group of us went for lunch at this Bar/bistro after being recommended, 4 of us had the fish , 3 of us has the Burgers, 6 of us within a few hours had serious diarrhea and sickness...... can't allocate it to the fish or burgers and the six sufferers had both fish and burgers. NOT worth a visit.

I wasn't very wowed by the menu from the word Go, but with offers like 2 meals for £10, you can't complain. But what I can complain about is the amount of time it took to get our food and the management/servers attitude!

Visited with friends for a mates 22nd birthday. Had an amazing night. Free shot upon entry. Friendly (and Cute) bar staff. The dj even announced the birthday over the microphone after I asked. Would highly recommend this place.

Myself and 5 friends were here for lunch and had a great afternoon, we had some hot drinks and cool drinks, ordered many different dishes and there was no problems with the actual food.. Though, One of the party had to return the steak pie because he was allergic to Mushrooms and the menu doesn't say Mushrooms on the description.. It was easily rectified and there was no issues having it changed.. Staff are really nice and friendly and the atmosphere in the afternoon is really nice in there.

Been a few times the beer is a bit pricey but its a nice pub with an outside area its clean and fresh i woud go back again

Have visited several times when coming up to Birmingham to stay with friends. Always find it a fun and friendly place to have drinks and dance in. Never had any problems with staff or clientele. Only criticism would be choice of drinks. Would suggest expanding - perhaps some specialty gins etc might be a nice addition? Would recommend a visit for a night out strongly however.

The food is delicious, im proper fussy with my sides and the chef was super understanding. hunters chicken with salad is now my favourite dish there. The staff are always friendly. perfect place to meet with groups of friends for food and drinks.

Good food, reasonably priced..enjoyed the 241 cocktail deal. I've been a few times and preferred daytime because of the relaxing atmosphere. We'll come back soon.

Our second visit to Birmingham. Sidewalk was the first place we visited to experience the easygoing atmosphere and to have our first cocktails and a bite to eat. The staff as friendly and helpful as we remembered from our first visit. Food great, cocktails great, value great. Big thanks to the staff who make daily visits a must. :-)

Went to sidewalk for lunch with work colleagues food arrived fairly quickly and was of a good standard. Pizzas were good offer 2 for £10.00. Not very busy in the day time

I used to visit this bar mid week for a meal and a few drinks regularly. I have noticed over the past few visits the staff have become reduced and their attitudes surly. On my most recent (and last) visit I ordered fish and chips. I waited some 30-40 minutes for the meal. When it arrived it was hard and felt reheated. Suffice to say I was poorly throughout the evening and had to take the next day off work with what I suspect was food poisoning. I contacted Sidewalk to report this and they did not even have the good grace to respond. I will not visit again.

This is one of our favourite venues in the gay village. Always great to sit in the window watching the world go by , or outside with a glass of wine on a Sunny day !

Visited this bar on a Monday night, Karaoke night. Met some really friendly people, Karaoke guy had a great vibe. Had a great night!

Fantastic venue! Friendly helpful staff. Great food and cocktail offers. The food is high quality pub grub. Fun venue in the heart of the Gay scene. I'd say a must.

Visited this place today. Whilst the prices are reasonable, the service and waiting times for food is beyond belief.We waited nearly an hour for 3 meals, and in the end it was agreed that it wasn't worth the wait.We will definitely not be eating here again

Whilst at pride this year my partner and I went into sidewalk for a drink or two. My partner decided to use the men's toilet, where he was questioned about his gender by the toilet attendant, who then called a bouncer to have him thrown out. We then went back inside to politely complain to the manager, who aggressively turfed us out again, holding my partner by his neck and trying to put me in a chokehold. He took us straight out the crowded front entrance, so that everybody could see him being "caught" as trans. So in short;1. Made a trans guy feel extremely uncomfortable when he just wanted to take a whizz2. A manager evidently untrained in security procedures used unnecessary violence to kick us out3. Publically humiliated my partner.

Would of been 5 stars but the sax is too much! Too much sax, too much sax. Close to the train station and cash point though!!!

As I seemed to be the only one waiting for a snack from what I could see as the only other customers were drinking.i was surprised that it took 25 minutes for my meal to arrive?? I heard the pass bell ring several times before they bothered to bring me my order, the waitress couldn't find me even when I told the girl that took my order at the bar where I was sitting. And when I eventually got what I ordered she hat to go back for cutlery, for one small plate you would have thought there was a free hand to bring cutlery at the same time. If your in a hurry eat somewhere else

Was amazing perfect for my friends birthday. Well looked after as usual.. And the music was really good mixture that suited all the age ranges in the group 10/10

Early evening it can seem a little dead, however for part of a night out that isn't boring nor too wild, it's pretty decent. The cocktails are the highlight - well made and not too expensive.

Came here for Halloween was amazing atmosphere! The music is always on point.. The venue is suitable for both gay and straight people and doesn't discriminate. Couldn't praise it enough ✨

The staff and prices are second to none very unpretentious and a warm welcome, I love it there and lunch at sidewalk about three times a week.

Been here a few times in the day and on the evening, always seems to have a good atmosphere but some staff lack the ability to recognize who has been waiting longer at the bar. The decor is great and the venue is clean and tidy. The venue have door staff on the evening who happen to be the rudest people I have met. As these are the first and last people you see they are the ones that give you a lasting impression.This is a shame as it lets the place down.This could be a great hang out if staff were more welcoming.

After going to visit another place in Birmingham we stayed on for food and a leisurely drink, we were delighted to find really friendly staff (not normal in our town) quick and easy ordering ,the place itself is so relaxing and lovely inside , when the food arrived which did not take to long it was amazing . Big portions really fresh and tasty . Staff made sure we were ok but did not bother us every second . They were so friendly we did not want to leave . The entertainment started also amazing .Dont pass this place by its a must go to . Thank you for being so welcoming and serving delicious food .Stella and Graham

My friend and I always go to Sidewalk on a night out. It's a brilliant atmosphere and the drinks are fairly priced. We're yet to eat here, however the menu looks pretty good! I'd recommend going to the quiz on a Wednesday night. It's a great laugh and there are some brilliant prizes! As people have said before, deserves to be busier than it gets on a standard weeknight.

Usually with groupon you get the bare minimum the restaurant can offer and so I wasn't expecting much from Sidewalk. I told my friends to expect glorified 'pub food'.It was in fact exceptional. The starters were substantial and very good quality, the mains were plentiful and delicious. Good quality fish and meats, very well presented and would put many restaurants to shame.Deserves to be busier than it is.

My husband & I visited this restaurant/bar using a voucher we had purchased from Groupon. We had a two course meal. I had for main a Lasagne which was very nice & my husband had a sizzling steak. Now my husband is very particular but said it was the best meal he had had for 5 years.(Hope he meant when eating out!)We were lucky enough to speak to the chef and it is clear he is very passionate about the food he prepares & visits meat market in Bham & chooses the meat etc himself .Other staff were very efficient & polite. Very good value even without our voucher.Give them a whirl.

Went in around lunchtime and I was served very rapidly by a charming young man. The beer is much cheaper than the Loft Lounge just around the corner and the wifi free and fast. Ordered a steak and guinness pie and trimmings which came in a reasonable time, was very tasty and of good quality. Fractionally more expensive than say Wetherspoons (but then where isn't and it's usually more than fractional...) but less crowded and a less impersonal atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Came here before going on to another local attraction - initially for a drink and a bite to eat. I would say either the staff were directly discriminatory towards me in favour of the locals / regulars to the place or stupid, as they tried to serve the locals ahead of those that got their first, in this case me. Decided not to eat as the drinks were pricey and the fact that when I challenged the queue jumping - I was wrong (despite one of the guys who had just finished being served confirming that I WAS next).Shame really - décor looked great. Would never go back

went in for a meal on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered a soup of the day to start with then a rump steak to follow up. Good quality food with plenty of chips and vegetables. The restaurant is a modern and relaxed place to enjoy a meal. Easy to get to and a car park just opposite. Special offer two meals for 10 pounds in the week 12pm 6 pm, sound great, may try it next time!
