Sidegate Gallery in Gateshead

Awful food and service. Give it a big miss Costco overpriced and freezing cold environment would not recommend unless you have already eaten and take a heated blanket with you

We have been regular visitors to Sidegate Gallery since we moved to Sunniside in 2017. The friendly service and tasty Paninis keep us coming back. While we wait for our food and drinks my partner loves to look around the shop and is known to buy an item or two that catches her eye.

I love browsing the shop in Sidegate gallery and have popped into methe cafe for takeaway coffees, cakes and scones before. This week we decided to come for lunch during the Government incentive and we were not disappointed. We both chose the chicken, pesto and mozzarella panini which was really tasty. Presentation was lovely with a side salad, coleslaw (I normally don't like coleslaw but ate the lot) and a little pot of crisps. The outdoor seating area was really nice in the sunshine and closed away so really peaceful. We definitely plan to come back for lunch soon! (and I'll most likely buy something for the house while I'm in next time).

Great selection of sandwiches and pannini meant all needs met. Side salad dressing yummmy. Tea coffee and iced coffee all enjoyed. Relaxing friendly atmosphere. One way system and other safety measures in place. Includes outdoor seating at rear. Carpark free .

Really nice coffeeshop in Sunniside. Met with my family there for coffee and cake. Really nice atmosphere, coffee was great and cakes were REALLY tasty!

This is a lovely coffee shop went here with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it, the coffee was great, the customer service was brilliant. Generally a nice place, would definitely would recommend.

Prompt and polite service in a fabulous ambiance. Quiche was gorgeous and coffee was wonderful. No hesitation to recommend.

We have passed here many times and eventually stopped and popped in for a coffee. Lovely shop selling quirky things but it amazes me how many coffee shops can’t actually make coffee. This is one. I even specifically asked if they knew how to make flat whites and was told they did. The worst I’ve ever had, see picture. So, nearly 6 quid lighter for 2 coffees we left, rest assured I won’t be stopping by again. Maybe the staff should visit Pumphries at Blaydon and see how it’s done.

Had a lunch meeting with a couple of friends the other day. Great sandwiches. Friendly service. Interesting art for sale & lots of lovely gift ideas

Great selection on Sale at the Sidegate Gallery,lots of Unusual Items and not the normal selection as I. Other Galleries.Always take our pictures here as They offer a great framing Sevice.There is also a very good cafe, with a good selection of food and coffee.

Having read the reviews we looked forward to our lunch at the sidegate gallery. First impressions were very good, nice sitting out area, good tea and coffee. However 20 minutes after placing our order for bacon paninis the waiter came to tell us there was no bacon. I wondered - what had happened to the bacon in those 20 minutes? We ordered different paninis - and they arrived after another 25 minutes. They were tough, very difficult to cut, and greasy. Even the crisps were greasy. Was it worth the wait? NO.

Sandwiches and cakes with tea and coffee. All lovely in a nice little setting. You don't even hear the traffic from the busy road outside. The staff are great and happy to help. Parking is on the path outside which isn't great. There may be better parking nearby. Well worth a visit if you are passing. It is also a gallery and shop with some nice pictures and furniture.

Always fantastic service great for dogs too ! Gorgeous food and drinks available lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere plenty of free parking too highly recommend the Tuna panini x

We called in and saw a photograph exhibition about poverty and people in Detroit USA. Some amazing images captured the harsh reality of their lives. Will Donald Trump really fix this?

Christmas eve, myself and my husband popped in here for lunch and a coffee. There was only one other table in so we ordered a jacket potato and a panini with tea and a coffee. The drinks arrived and then we waited for 40 mins for the food. Not one member of staff came over to explain that there maybe a wait or to reassure us that our food is coming. I could not see any reason for the wait. Note to the owners, It would be nice that if there's going to be a wait, please acknowledge your customers and reassure them that food is coming. Customer service was poor.

Pequeño gran lugar que merece una visita. Tiene una pequeña tienda de curiosidades Brac, en el frente con el café en la parte trasera. Teníamos el bocadillo de panini, que estaba muy bien hecho, la ensalada estaba bien también. En general, la comida fue agradable y una buena relación calidad-precio. Definitivamente vale la pena para un poco vuelve a mirar alrededor y una relajante comida.

Lovely fresh sandwiches and cakes....specials looked fab and a little outside seating area out the back. Staff were lovely and the gift shop attached has some really nice stock!

Pop I here regularly for coffee and gifts. They also sell lovely Lagenlook clothes. The staff are very friendly but they really need to clean their toilet room. It is very dirty, dusty and crying out for a good clean of walls, sanitary ware and...

Lovely little coffee shop popped in for a coffee and had lunch which was so lovely. Scones and sandwiches are delicious. Gift shop is well stocked with items of jewellery and household items of a high standard. Also at bottom of shop is a clothes shop with some really lovely clothes and accessories. Went back with family at the weekend and they were as impressed as me. Definitely worth a visit

Called in at this gallery to buy a last minute baby gift and had a fabulous lunch as well as buying loads of unusual presents for the baby and for me! Staff were so lovely and the courtyard setting was beautiful. Brilliant range of gifts that I hadn't seen elsewhere and lovely jewellery and scarves at really reasonable prices. Only 5 -10 minutes from the MetroCentre - well worth a visit!

This darling little gem sits on the front street of Sunniside. There is a table and chairs outside to enjoy the sunshine. Also, in the patio garden there are table and chairs to sit and enjoy your coffee and treat. There many beautiful gift items to choose from and an interesting array of clothing in a small annex off the back garden area....all in all....delightful.

A rare day off with my partner, so popped in here for brunch. The coffee was great and so was my cheese omelet with ciabatta. The panini looked lovely too, all well presented and served with a smile.We shared a piece of lemon meringue pie, which was OK (we have had better) but really no major problem at all. The cakes looked amazing so plenty of choice for all tastes...Certainly will be going back again...!

having had numerous gorgeous cake and coffee combos here, I was pleased to call for lunch, and be offered a complimentary glass of wine. Sadly as I was driving, I was unable to accept.

just wanted to say a big thank you to gillian and her lovely waitress that was on yesterday, absolutely amazing service and so attentive!! my friend and i arrived at sidegate about 12 tuesday lunchtime it was fairly busy as you would expect, but the waitress immediately acknowledged we were there with a gorgeous smile! she explained the special board, took our order even offered us a complimentary glass of wine!!! food came and was gorgeous, so fresh and all homecooked, i had the soup and was gorgeous my friend had a lovely pannini we both cleared our plates then went on to have a cheese scone and my friend some chocolate shortbread, the waitress was so attentive she topped our coffees up as well, we had a lovely wander at the goodies and purchased a few! all in all a lovely chilled afternoon, well done sidegate we will be back very soon

Have been calling at the Sidegate Gallery in Sunnyside for some years now when we are in the area or travelling through. The snacks on offer are always freshly made as are the scones and cakes which we usually take some extra home for later.Although the cafe is small its well worth a visit and the Gallery offers some unusual and different items for sale.Hope we will be back before Christmas

i love this place is so cosy,the food is good and i love all the art nd crafs,the jewlery is good value,i love going in and having a good browse as they get new stock in all the time.

Popped in on the way home from school run Gillian has some gorgeous goodies in sidegate at the moment especially the scarfs loved them all ! I had a refreshing earl grey tea and a gorgeous cherry and almond scone with cream and my daughter had a tuna panini and soft drink.Lots to choose from on the menu and warm friendly atmosphere x

A lovely find with a gorgeous menu. The sandwiches were delicious with plenty good filling. The deserts were a little pricy at over £3 for a tiny slice of cheesecake. That said the coffees and teas were lovely and the experience was a good one.

Kill two birds with one stone, buy all your birthday and christmas presents and have some lovely food at the same time. An excellent tiny gallery chock full of art, trinkets and crafty odds and ends. Some quite unusual things combined with a homely cafe.I had a bacon bun which was excellent (crispy). Wife had a very well filled, lovely, tuna panini, which came with crisps and salad.yum yum. Coffee was greatYou may find it useful to know that there is car parking at the rear of the premier food shop next door which is not apparent when you first pull up outside the gallery.We would definitely go again.

Came across the Sidegate Gallery by accident on the way to to Beamish recently, and I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a little gem of a place, it's great to find somewhere that tries so hard to please it's customers by giving them exactly what they want. Because everything is made to order, you can have your panini, salad or sandwich just the way you want, and all soups are home made. The cakes are to die for, it is really is nice to find a place that sells not only home made cakes, but award winning cakes, instead of the frozen, mass produced cakes sold in other coffee shops in the area. The atmosphere is friendly and casual, and the sunny courtyard was an unexpected bonus. I love to support local businesses who use so much home made and local produce so will be returning very soon.You will not be disappointed if you stop here, either for a quick coffee and cake, or something more.

The Sidegate Gallery is areally worth a visit. we visit it regularly as they a great range of gifts, cards , things for home & a really good coffee shop. . Definetly worth a visit next you are in Sunniside NE16.

Really friendly, happy place to eat and indulge in great food. The staff are always friendly and pleased to see you. The service is always good and the food delicious. A great place to pop into with friends for a meal and chat, or just to wander and browse in the gift shop, I rarely leave without buying something, the gifts are very original and there's something for every taste.They also do a super selection of ladies clothing too, I recently bought a gorgeous silk top for a wedding, made in Italy, and felt really special wearing it. Sidegate Gallery is one of my favourite places to visit and never fails to cheer me up!.

Came with husband and our daughter great friendly service sat in the courtyard as it was a beautiful sunny day had lovely quiche and salad and was offered free glass of wine too ! Perfect for lunch or coffee and cake run craft classes too ! Highly recommend x

Stopped at the Sidegate on a road trip to 'refuel' & discovered a gem. Brilliant selection of made to order sandwiches & lunch specials. We went off piste on the panini selection, but the bubbly girls in the kitchen were more than happy to help. Delicious! The staff overheard me mention my dog was in the car & insisted I go fetch him so they could make a fuss of him. Genuine great friendly service - a bowl of water was even provided for the dog , nice touch. Cakes, cakes, cakes.... Awesome cakes! A slice at source & a take away box full of delights.We even managed to pick up a few gifts in the funky gift shop on the way out. I'd definitely make a point of stopping by this great little place on my travels. Keep up the good work! PS. Did I mention the cake?.....

One of the best places for coffee, sandwiches (the chutney and jams are delicious) and that's before you get to the cake. Somewhere you can visit again and again and still not see all the knick knacks that are lurking around the corner. Staff are friendly and if your looking for something special are only to pleased to help.......a MUST try.

Me and my husband stumbled across this whilst looking in the gift shop.. It's a very small room but very comfortable and unique. The service is very friendly and the cake/ice cream is delicious! We have since returned several times with our almost 2 year old daughter.

The cheese savoury sandwiches (huge) and cheese and broccoli scones were awesome. Bought 4 items of clothing which were lovely quality linen and good prices too.

Coffee, cake, good price, sold. Not only did sidegate offer some gorgeous little pieces for the home but the food was fab! Lovely for a quick bite to eat, the staff were very helpful and the servings were sufficient to keep me going! Definitely going back x
