Food always very fresh and well presented. Staff courteous and patient with customers. Particularly like the ring doughnuts which are not too sweet (compared to most supermarket offerings). Prices very reasonable too. Always visit this shop when in city.

First visit to this pastry shop to get some Rum Babas and I wasn’t disappointed … the cake shop is tiny but don’t be fooled as what it does is well above what its size belies . It serves a variety of fresh cream / fruit cakes etc .There was a queue outside as I arrived which is always a good sign of quality . There were no Rum Babas available but the staff kindly offered to make them fresh for me and in 30 mins they were ready . What more can you say …just brilliant service . The Rum Babas were delicious as were the cream cakes I also got . All in all probably the best cake shop I have ever been to , I can’t fault them just brilliant . Plus it’s a family business now run by second generation Sicilians , so well done all involved. A must visit shop . I just wish I lived in Edinburgh I would visit them daily 🍰👏😋

I have been going to this bakery for over 30 years (spending lots of money over that period) and it is with sadness that i have to write this review. Whilst in the bakery a member of staff started on me for no reason and falsely accused me of things. Whilst dealing with another member of staff the said individual started on me. After a couple of hours i went back to speak to the management. When i asked to speak to the manager the same member of staff was laughing at me saying she was going to phone the police. I have tried to correct this with no response. I can only recommend to people to AVOID THIS BAKERY. god only knows what might happen there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrated my retirement in Edinburgh, and the pastry shop supplied vanilla crema cake (so fresh and delicious), fabulous cannoli, and some of the best rum babas I’ve had in Britain. Wonderful!

the cake order was prepared wrong. I specified the side that I wanted and it’s the regular one I’ve always been getting for the past 5/6 years for our birthday parties from them. I’m always really pleased with their cakes and order it for many occasions but I’m really disappointed this time. I don’t even have time to return it or anything as urgently needed a cake for a birthday . Really disappointed .

I have finally found the real birthday cakes. They are delicious and all ingredients are fresh. Much better than some bakeries in Italy. I think I’ll never buy somewhere else again. Savoury snacks are also great. Can’t wait to go back for another cake. Well done guys, I would only improve the decorations outside the cakes: can look a bit messy sometimes.

Our lovely next door neighbour got us gorgeous arancini for us, spinach and cheese and ham and cheese wow, some of the best arancini we've had. Will definitely visit asap.

Popped in to order a cake and ended up with a box of goodies and a cake order for a couple of weeks from now. Despite it being a small busy shop the staff still took the time to make sure my first order with them was dealt with well and welcomed any questions I had. After placing the order I could not resist some of the goods that were on display - awesome. I am looking forward to picking my cake up on the 15th and if is even close to what I had at the weekend I will be ecstatic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

There are so many delicious-looking cakes,m pastries, macarons, biscuits etc., that we were struggling to make our minds up but I chose a layered sponge fresh cream gateau and my husband had a fresh cream chocolate eclair. Our children had various fancy biscuits and cakes. Really delicious and very good value. We will be regulars from now on.

Yum! I like to buy the pizza slices for lunch, it's pretty good but the vegeterian option tends to sell out around lunch time - it'd be nice if they can make enough stock to last until 1pm. The cake's are excellent, they can write of them for birthdays too. Bakery treats are excellent.

We visited your shop recently and felt like we were back home in Italy with the selection of pastries offered. The amazing first impression was soon interrupted when an older lady began serving us, she was abrupt, not helpful at all and it felt like she was doing us a favour by even letting us in. Either way the cakes and pastries on display were beautiful and the ones we selected were absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend - it would have been 5 stars if not for the service.

I and my family and relatives are your customer from 20 years. I today came to Pickup cake for my son for 15th Birthday. To lady served me today asked name and I told her my name and then she said did you ordered cake, i said my wife ordered and she given my name I already told you. She said very rudely in loud voice that she i could not understand it first time. I think if she could not understand first time then she should ask me to repeat or spell again. After that when she got my cake, she asked me anything else, i said No. She came to counter and was looking at me quietly for a while, I asked her how much I need to pay and she said anything else please, i said I already told you thats it and she was talking like i have a good day today bla bla very rudely. I never had such experience in 20 years. Today is my son birthday and she made my day stressed. At least you need to take care that people most of time come for a happy occasion like birthday. It is very unfair to ruin someone good day like me.

The cakes here are to die for. They are light and so soft. The fresh cream is just the right amount of sweetness. With the addition of fresh fruit makes it refreshing. My family have been buying birthday cakes for well over 30yrs from here. And I know of many other friends and family too. If you are in need of a treat or a cake this bakery won't disappoint.

shocking and appalling customer service. non responsive to many emails and when they do, they are completely unhelpful, useless and have zero knowledge. I am honestly so frustrated and enraged at how they have messed me around, left me in a difficult position to get a cake for an event because of their sheer incompetence. The lack of customer service is extremely rude and disrespectful. Do not go here if you are looking for a guaranteed and reliable service. A total shambles.

Ordered a carrot cake for my partner's birthday. Placed the order over Facebook messenger which was super easy and I got quick helpful replies. The cake itself is absolutely delicious and got great reviews all round :D Definitely would try this bakery again for their everyday cakes

Ci ero venuto una volta mesi fa ed ero rimasto molto soddisfatto dal calzone e dal cannolo che avevo ordinato. Trovandomi in zona all'ora di pranzo, decido di passare nuovamente. Ordino una fetta di pizza e un dolce alla crema. La pizza era molle, quasi gommosa, tra l'altro credo che sia stata scaldata nella pellicola di plastica con cui mi è stata consegnata, insomma una delusione colossale. Il dolce alla crema invece era buono, nulla di straordinario però nulla da dire. Cibo a parte, io e i miei amici siamo rimasti veramente scioccati dal servizio ricevuto. La signora al bancone non ha accennato nemmeno a un sorriso, per tutto il tempo in cui vieni servito hai la sensazione di non essere gradito all'interno del negozio. Sinceramente non so se ci tornerò.

It temporarily got the heave!! My research assistant had read about the place on TA, so I was instructed to pass, 'Just to have a look' Yeah Yeah - Believe that if you like. So we bought a few cakes. A coffee once we got home meant they lasted under an hour! Delicious. Now on Bread & water

I dolci di questa pasticceria sono buoni, ma il servizio é veramente pessimo. La signora anziana bassa con i capelli scuri dovrebbe prendere qualche lezione di non ton, perché é veramente maleducata, oltre ad essere sempre di cattivo umore. Non si accolgono così i clienti. Mi ha risposto anche male, prendendomi in giro, dicendo che qui non siamo in Italia, quando le ho fatto notare che il nome con cui avevo chiamato un dolce era italiano, dopo che innervosita mi aveva corretto. Dovrebbe avere consapevolezza che lavora per una pasticceria Italiana, non per Greggs. Sono uscita dalla pasticceria amareggiata e infastidita, infatti non ci sono più tornata.

I love the Sicilian Pasty Shop, it’s my go to shop when I want to buy cakes for a special occasion or maybe even a family treat. Alway delicious and reasonably price and an amazing selection to choose from.

Pedí un pastel de cumpleaños con un chocolate mezclado en los lados. Hoy fui a recogerlo y la chica lo sacó de la nevera y dijo que solo tendrá que agregar el chocolate. Ella comenzó a agarrar las piezas muy pequeñas de chocolate y a aplicarlas en todo el pastel con las manos desnudas. Solo para decir que estaba limpiando el piso cuando entré y no se lavó las manos antes de tocar el pastel. No quiero ni siquiera empezar a imaginar qué más ha tocado hoy antes de dejar todos estos gérmenes en mi pastel. El servicio al cliente también estaba en un nivel bajo. No lo recomendaré.

Recibí una rebanada de pastel de chocolate y fruta de esta tienda, de parte de mi vecina, quien la preparó para su 80 cumpleaños. Habiendo probado creaciones similares en cruceros y en Francia e Italia, me quedé impresionado por el sabor. Después de descubrir dónde se hizo, llamé para preguntar por un pastel para el próximo cumpleaños de mi esposa. El miembro del personal con el que hablé fue extremadamente servicial y muy cortés y se tomó su tiempo para explicarle todo. Ciertamente los haré mi primera elección para pasteles.

Es un paseo en el asunto y hay que aplastar para entrar, porque la línea de entrada y salida ocupan todo el espacio disponible.Sin embargo, merece la pena el viaje y el aplastamiento. This place was recommended to me by a friend... and they didn't disappoint! I ordered two cakes, with writing on top (gifts for school staff) and 24hrs was plenty of notice for them. I had read reviews here about grumpy staff - if that was true, it looks like they have taken notice, as the two different members of staff who dealt with me were great... very friendly, smiley and helpful!! Five stars from me... thanks!

If you like pastries and cakes, as well as savoury items with a twist, come here. It is an excellent place! The food they have is so well priced and extremely high quality. It is my favourite place in Edinburgh for cakes! Far better than mimis in my opinion, so much choice and at such a great price!

Not hard to find, just off Leith Walk, so easy to get too and enjoy a takeaway range. Wide choice of fresh baked sweet continental pastries, cakes, macaroons, turnovers, cream filled, fruit topped, chocolate drizzled selection plus some gluten free ones too. Always fresh and replenished through the day.

Ordered a vanilla and jam Sicillian cake for my son’s birthday and I must say it gone in minutes. Usually the kids don’t finish off their cakes but at his party, both kids and adults enjoyed it. I had to pick up the cake on a Saturday as the party was on Sunday during pick up time. Stored the cake in fridge for next afternoon. It tasted amazing. Can’t wait to try it fresh. Absolutely great service and value for money.

Trovandoci nei paraggi di Leith, abbiamo pensato di fermarci in questa pasticceria siciliana. E da siciliana sarò ipercritica! Abbiamo preso dei calzoni fritti, ripieni di pomodoro e formaggio...perfettamente messinesi per impasto e sapore, ma mancava il terzo ingrediente per essere impeccabile, il prosciutto!! Fatto così in Sicilia non si venderebbe mai, risulta un pò sdegnoso. Passiamo ai cannoli, buoni, buonissimi..ma la cioccolata che riveste l'interno è stata studiata per i cannoli da viaggio, in modo che la ricotta non inumidisca l'involucro e possano rimanere flagranti per qualche giorno. Non si usa nella vendita al banco perché, pur essendo un ottimo prodotto anche così, non è comunque l'originale. Perché li trovo così nella vendita al banco che dovrebbe essere di produzione giornaliera? Oggi comunque erano freschissimi ☺ Impeccabili invece i cartocci alla crema, forse anche più buoni di quelli che mangio a casa, non ho davvero parole per descrivere la crema!

I tried 6 different kind of pastries and they are very similar than Italian ones. In my opinion the cream inside the cannoli is too much sweetened and generally there is too much cream(Panna)...but I think it's a choice to be more suited to Scottish taste. The fruit cake (crostatine all' frutta) are delicious. Value for money.

Lovely family owned bakery. The cakes biscuits and other treats baked on site are amazing and tasty. Much cheaper than other similar establishments. They also offer a wide range of sandwiches and savoury pastries. Excellent value for money.

Anyone who knows anything about 'Italian food' knows there's no such thing: all cuisine in Italy is regional, and Sicilian is one of the best, including in bakery, pastries, and desserts (especially ice cream) so it's great to see this lovely little bakery doing well. As an Italian, I hope they help push out the boat a bit more, introducing more 'niche' desserts to Edinburgh. The cannoli are the obvious choice, but I suggest going in and asking for a selection of Sicilian delicacies: it's a great way of discovering new delicious sweets and a lovely way of introducing yourself to Sicilian food! Remember the Gaia cafe is virtually round the corner, so you could go for lunch there, and then treat yourself to a pastry!

This place is delicious. It's cute and small and the staff are always really helpful and can suggest products to your needs/tastes. My favourite's are the cannoli's and the strawberry tarts. Delish. However, don't think that this place is just a sweet place, it has wide selection of sandwiches and soups.

Italian pastries at their best. Wonderful pastry shop (for take away only, they don't have tables or chairs). Their cakes are also delicious! I have brought their pastries often to work or to friend's house and everybody loves their pastries all the time. Go and try them!

What can I say not already said but reiterate and advise more to get in here. Walked past when didn't need anything to eat and salivated at the view through window and told myself would be my next port of call and only hope things as good as looked. Arrived back to find a large number of girls behind counter and every one of them happily serving and chatting with customers smiling and genuinely seemed to be enjoying what doing and couldn't be nicer to encounter and alone would make you return just to experience customer service perfection,and then there's the food. Great priced savoury pieces and sandwiches which tasted as good as looked and then there is the sweet options. A dream selection and having sampled a few am lucky to be back in the area staying next week and will be stocking fridge up here for treats and food such as sandwiches and pies. This place never seemed quiet on any walk past and from start to finish the best of an experience for such a bakery type place and if had a cafe seated space would be one of the best in area for quality and customer service. Food and staff a credit to owners and been singing its praises since to anyone that does be in area and as expected a lot already knew of it as caterers also for events etc etc.

Paste buone e grandi....unica pecca è che apre dopo le 8, troppo tardi per noi (naturalmente si tratta di un giudizio soggettivo)

I went into get some lunch and was taken back by the sheer amount of amazing food. and the care and attention that went into it. With such a variety I was able to choose between filos and pastries, cakes and other delicious sweets all baked fresh in house that morning. Great service, will be back!

Iv been going for about a year now as a friday treat and boy do they make some great food. The rolls are awesome (chicken and bacon is my fave at the mo) and they make the best choux pastries, doughnuts and tarts. The only thing I am not keen on are the cakes as I find them too sweet. but thats just personal taste. My fave are the chocolate eclairs and Strawberry tarts. And all at very reasonable prices.

We are very lucky to be living 1 minutes walk away from this excellent shop. We have tried most of their cakes and rolls and love it here.

Being honest, this pastry shop is one of the reasons why I decided to get a flat in this street. All the pastries I have tried so far are really tasty (must say, the salty ones are the best ones for me), and the prices extremely reasonable. A shame is not open on Sundays though.

My 4th visit to this wee shop I discovered just off Leith Walk and boy I'm glad ,Sadly I can't go every day but if I could I would .The Selection of Pastries are very mouth watering and you spend a while making up your mind which tasty dish to try .Price wise it's very affordable and if you want to treat yourself then I would recommend a visit to this establishment ,The service is friendly as is your fellow customers who are also waiting to make up their minds . It's good to shop local but I would suggest you make an effort to come and visit this little shop if you live out with the local area .

Sono stato in questa pasticceria incuriosito dai commenti che ho visto su trip adv. Mi aspettavo il classico locale all estero che sfrutta un insegna Italiana per attirare clienti. Beh mi sbagliavo alla grande! Dolci Siciliani (ovviamente prodotti con le materie prime che offre il regno unito, non aspettatevi di certo la ricotta sicula nei cannoli o i canditi prodotti sai soleggiati aranceti Italiani) che ad ogni modo si distinguono fortemente dal resto dei dolci locali. Per non parlare del settore "salato": panzerotti calzoni arancini...insomma si tutto e di piu..davvero tutto delizioso ( in un soggiorno di 4 giorni sono tornato in questo locale ben 2 volte). L' unica pecca è che le pietanze fritte sono un po troppo unte dolo la frittura.

The last time I was in town I bought a selection of cakes (by the slice), doughnuts and pastries for a family lunch. Everybody loved the banana cake, it was by far the best of the selection. Next time I was in town I ordered a whole banana cake for another family lunch. However when I picked it up it was totally different to what we'd had before and was not really a banana cake at all. The cake was still nice (it's hard to go wrong with sponge and lashings of cream) but was very disappointing compared to the cake we were expecting. The cake was a very generous size, easily serving 8 (instead of the 6 they said).

My parents have been ordering cakes here for as long as I can remember & ive been keeping the tradition going! Their vanilla sponge with patisserie creme is amazing! It's not Christmas without it! Great price too. Yes it's busy but no wonder!!

We are so lucky to have moved around the corner of this shop recently. It's a very busy shop and often has people queueing outside. The sandwiches and cakes are excellent. The Staff efficient and friendly. Only drawback, we wish you sold bread too.

Best bakery ever hands down. Their pastries literally melt in your mouth and the prices are great. We walked 2km every morning just to get our daily food while on holidays.

My girlfriend lives just round the corner and had never been in there so we got a bit of cheesecake and a strawberry tart which were beautiful. Can see me going a lot more Now!!

What can you say about this place? Just amazing! Never been disappointed! And brilliant value for money! Calzones are delicious! And a good selection of fresh cakes (red velvet in particular is spectacular! ) sometimes you can feel a little rushed with the service due to how busy the shop is! But the food is so good you can overlook that! A must for lunch ! Why haven't you opened up another shop with seating ?!

Today some mentioned this shop, what a forgotten gem this was to me. I used to live and work near this little delight, often coming for lunch and a little extra for my supper at night. Sometime you should just keep your memories lest your disappointed on return............. 25 years later and just as deliciously, fabulously, fantastically tasty! I am glad I don't live or work near this gastronomic gem, I would be an absolute glutton. Though I won't leave it so long to return. The sugary sweet smell and the feast to your eyes and the mouth-watering savouries. Just had the arancinis for dinner, did the healthy option and served them with some salad! My husband was delighted to remember this tasty treat.

Hands down the best bakery in Edinburgh. I always get my cakes from here for any occasion. I phoned up late yesterday afternoon to place a order for a birthday cake for my mum. The lady on the phone was very helpful and kind, I went to pick up today to realise how busy they were with it being Mother's Day tomorrow. They must have had around 30 cakes on the go and the ship was packed. But as usual the cake was delish. No better place if your looking for a excellent cake.

Visited here today after discovering it on TripAdvisor. We bought cakes and a hot, pastry-like food with spinach and onions (I think!) in it. The food was really delicious, a great twist on classics (e.g. the 'German biscuit', and the size of the chocolate cookie was particularly impressive! Good value for money and friendly staff.

Love love love this bakery, we've been here for years for birthday cakes etc.... we even ordered our wedding cake from here a few years ago - everyone loved the cake and it was just amazing. As well as celebration cakes they do pastries and snacks in store, you have to get there quick as some of the sell out quickly! they're always busy, and not surprised they're very good at what they do! highly recommended bakery! The recent birthday cake we ordered for my sister was delicious as normal - couldnt get enough of it! ;-) they will do it to what you like as well whether you prefer less cream or no jam etc!

Ho mangiato soltanto i cartocci siciliani. Economici, pieni di crema e giganti. Gli ultimi li avevo mangiati molto simili a Palermo. Direi che sono stato gli 80 centesimi meglio spesi del viaggio ;)

Don't ever waste money or time on supermarket birthday cakes. Just head for this shop, hidden away in a side street of Leith. With as little as a day's notice they make you the most beautiful cake( for 6-8 or more) decorated with your personal message. While you wait for the final touches to the message on your cake treat yourself to something from the wide selection of sweet or savoury snacks in the counter. Have your cash ready as they don't accept plastics.

I have been going to this shop for nearly 20 years, the owners and staff are lovely, fantastic qualify baked goods at very reasonable prices! Everyone who knows about this shop loves it and every time you go there are always busy.
