We stopped by here for a quick Tiramisu which was just average. But the location is excellent and Alessandra made this place lively with her cordial nature. It's a good place to have quick bite on the way.

Booked a table at 19:00 over the phone. I then received a phone call at 18:55 while in the taxi there saying that there actually was no table at 19:00 and we would have to wait until 20:00. Absolutely dreadful

You may have noticed from some of my posts, I love me some good seafood. 🍤 Piccolino absolutely nailed it with their seafood linguine. The dish was packed with fresh, vibrant flavors, and the portion size was spot-on. I was especially impressed by how generous they were with the seafood—each bite had the perfect balance of pasta and perfectly cooked prawns, squid, and mussels. Exquisite and the attention was unbeatable. I’m Italian and I loved it. Moreover, we were lucky to be served by Alessandra, a charming, polite, and attentive young woman. She made our dinner an amazing experience.

Food is spot on, fresh seafood that is cooked to perfection and delicious. Pasta and lasagne were unreal and me and my partner swapped halfway through because each dish was so delicious we were jealous of each others. Small Italian restaurant where you can feel the atmosphere of home. Spartan equipment, walls covered with posters of footballers and certificates of merit for good food. Prices normal for the type of venue. We were served by a friendly, chatty and very kind Italian waitress, who made us feel like special customers. Honorable mention for the spaghetti all'assassina, truly delicious. Pleasant evening. I would stay here again.

Very welcoming small restaurant, with young and cheerful staff. The service was fast and the food was really high quality. The girls defined the tomato pasta as a real Italian pasta! Compliments! We will happily return.

The dish of the day was perfect! We have come often every day because it is too delicious! Pasta, chicken, wine, bread! The service and atmosphere is like eating at home, perfect!

Great little place. I've passed it many times but never visited. Went last night and oh my goodness the food was amazing! We started with bruschetta and mussels - both were excellent but the mussels in particular were to die for. I could've eaten another serving! For mains we had the porcini risotto and fillet steak. Again, both were tremendous. Prices reasonable for really excellent food. Place was busy and buzzing, traditional Italian atmosphere. Can't wait to return and try more of the menu. Still dreaming of those mussels. 10/10

Food was excellent, menu limited but I like that as it generally means everything is freshly prepared . Dont have garlic bread unless you have a very strong bite. Meatballs starter was enough for a main and was delicious.

Great authentic food from Southern Italy. We can strongly recommend the pasta with venison, linguine with seafood and lasagna. Dog friendly! 👍

I ordered soup of the day for a starter, and it was delicious. Order Pollo Alla Milanese for mains, and it was okay. The chicken was cooked very well, but it didn't come with any sauce or gravy. The salad also had only a few drizzles of dressing. Wouldn't recommend this dish at this place. But the ambience was great, service was good and overall food was okay. Rest of the people enjoyed their dishes. There is parking right next to the restaurant but it is paid till 6.30pm.

Teníamos una reserva de grupo para celebrar una reunión y aunque no todos pudimos subir a una mesa estábamos muy cerca y todavía se sentía como un grupo. El servicio fue excepcional! Un joven llamado Ollie nos cuidó de principio a fin, gestionando facturas divididas y los pedidos de comida y bebidas, así como cualquiera que haya visto. Todo con una sonrisa y recomendaciones bien informadas. La comida era genial en todos los ámbitos, con platos de buen tamaño, sabrosos y perfectamente preparados en todo. ¡El servicio incluso incluía ser perseguido por la carretera para devolver un teléfono olvidado! Muy recomendable y sin duda volvería la próxima vez que esté en Edimburgo.

Este es un gran lugar para un bocado rápido para comer, la comida era magnífica y un servicio muy rápido y eficiente. El personal tenía las mejores recomendaciones y las bebidas eran buenas. Ubicación bastante céntrica, no lejos de muchos lugares.

Siento que esta experiencia fue promedio. El camarero llevaba ropa de calle muy causal y no sabíamos que trabajaba allí. La copa de vino estaba un poco sucia y la carbonara no era agradable. Los entrantes y otros 2 principales eran agradables.

Visitamos el restaurante en familia visitando Edimburgo. La comida era preciosa y auténtica y el personal era muy amable. Recomendaría totalmente una visita.

we went here for dinner and I gotta say the food is fantastic. I’ve eaten a lot of Italian food before buy this is definitely among the best. Service was really kind! The atmosphere and decor is not very special, the place itself is rather simple. But the food makes up for it!

Great place for a great meal. Staff is great and the food us always wonderful. Great wine and great pasta - one of my favourites.

We took a pasta suggestion and the surprise was that the dish was extremely spicy. They could have warned us when they presented the suggestions to us. The carbonara pasta was way too peppery. The tables were a little sticky.

A very disappointed revisit. Foods are extremely salty (almost lethal). Suggested to their staffs that dishes are very generous with salt, no one cared. Main courses came along with equal disgusting quality. Never again unfortunately

Wir konnten die vielen sehr guten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Die Akkustik in dem Restaurant ist sehr schlecht, so dass man manchmal sein eigenes Wort nicht versteht. Die Linsensuppe als Vorspeise war die Bezeichnung nicht wert, war wie eine klare Brühe, der Caprese Salat war sehr gut. Die beiden Nudelgerichte waren in Ordnung, mehr aber nicht, die Portionen waren ziemlich klein. Zudem war der Service unaufmerksam und unfreundlich. Wir würden das Restaurant nicht mehr besuchen.

Fischsuppe ausgezeichnet, Manzo mit Abstrichen (viele Sehnen). Nudeln mit Salcicce gut. Aus Karte gewählter Wein war nicht verfügbar. Da es zum Fleisch neben Salat keine Beilagen gab, wurde um Brot gebeten. Kam als die Speisen aufgegessen waren. Auf Rechnung automatisch 10% Gratuity aufgeschlagen.

The penne siciliana were fantastic, very rich tomato and aubergine taste like we like it. Best pasta I've had in Edinburgh (and I've had many). On the other hand I think the tiramisu was lacking a little bit of taste, maybe it would need a little bit more sugar or coffee.

Excellent Italian cuisine, professional service

Very underwhelmed by the waiting staff. My partner and I ordered and the waiter picked on up the fact my partner is Italian and started speaking Italian to him and solely interacting with him and not me. The waiter had very good English as he initially sat us and took our drink order and was conversing with us both in English. We placed our order and my partner confirmed there was no cheese on my dish and highlighted that we would not like any cheese. The waiter confirmed there wasn’t any cheese. When my meal arrived there was cheese on top and when we highlighted this to the waiter, his response was that it was only parmesan cheese and promptly walked away. We were initially shocked by his reaction and waited a few minutes for him to pass by to ask for the dish to be remade. However, he promptly avoided our table (easily done as we were sat in the corner). When he came back to he asked if something was wrong with my meal and we highlighted that we had asked for no cheese and again he was very dismissive about this request. I want to add it wasn’t a dish that had cheese as a main ingredient, it was sprinkled on the top and could have been an easy step to miss out on.

Solid performance from Piccolino with the Sea-bass and salmon dishes. The servers were prompt, polite and friendly. The food was tasty, light and had reasonable portions. The place is small and elbow-to-elbow but it wasn't an issue for us as we went to dinner early. I would recommend without reservation.

We visited Piccolino’s for diner. The reviews were what drew us because I’m not sure otherwise we would have entered. Service was friendly and attentive. No complaints at all. The atmosphere was okay, but not really a very nice table setting, which included a little basket with the packets of catsup and mayo like you would get at McDonald’s. My wife ordered pappardelle al la bolognese, for which we went. I ordered a burrata caprese salad and I have to say it was wonderful. The burrata was creamy and the tomatoes, etc. made for a delicious starter. My wife’s pappardelle was fine. The pasta was thicker than what we are accustomed to but she enjoyed the dish. I don’t know why but I ordered lasagna. I guess I got what I deserved, but I was expecting something a little more nuanced. What I got was a pile of lasagna pasta with sauce and melted cheese on top. I’m not saying it was bad, but it wasn’t great either. Overall nothing absolutely wrong about this place. I guess I was just expecting a little more finesse with the food.

My group from the U.S. (including an Italian/American) really liked this neighborhood restaurant. The food was great. Service was excellent and it had a very low key neighborhood feel. Will go back again when I am in Edinburgh.

Very nice service and very good fish dishes! The price/performance ratio was great and we went there twice and the quality was consistently good! A real insider tip as there were few tourists among the guests.

On holiday for a few days in Edinburgh we stayed three times given the quality of their Italian cuisine which we happily alternated with the Scottish one. The carbonara, the Siciliana and the Arrabbiata are fantastic. It is difficult to eat pasta, even in Italy, that is so balanced in taste and cooking. An Italian pearl in Edinburgh.

Very nice place, all the guys were very kind, and our compatriot (Italian) who welcomed us and guided us through the delicious dishes, with unique kindness and friendliness! In Edinburgh we recommend at least one stop, but even more: for our compatriots to relive our flavors and for everyone else to discover them

Lovely little spot in Edinburgh. The food was delicious and the service was great. We had Oli serve us and he was so polite and helpful. Highly recommend this spot.

Really disappointed. Been looking forward to coming since last years festival. Food was mostly ok but service terrible. To be fair, they did spot our disappointment and trimmed the bill and apologised very nicely. But what really got us - the terrible table presentation. Cheap cafe plastic and melamine.

I ordered paella and tiramisu, both were terrible, Tiramisu is very greasy, paella is the worst paella I have ever tasted, all the ingredients are not fresh and have a bad taste, I never want to eat a second bite of rice. I ate so little that I couldn't eat it at all, and that's the first time I've ever given a bad review. I don't think this meal is worth my money, and I wouldn't eat it even someone pay me…

Great food. The lasagna is the best I have ever eaten and look, I have ordered many. The macaroni bolognese was also delicious and the quantities are very generous. You can communicate in Spanish which gives it added value. They serve real coffee and the waitress who served us was very nice. A place to return to.

I'm Italian, this it's the only place where I've eaten a pasta cooked the right way, tasty and not overcooked, amazing, and thanks also to the waitress Tania, excellent service and a nice smile

I didn't think I could eat as good as I do at home so far away. Very kind staff, everything really good at a fair price for Edinburgh. My 2 year old daughter ate a plate of pasta after a week in Scotland and was very happy.

Lugar ideal para comer y/o cenar disfrutando de una cocina italiana excelente y un servicio extraordinario. Después de una primera experiencia la noche anterior, gracias a la amabilidad y profesionalidad de Alexandra que, hizo todo lo posible para hacernos un hueco para seis (siempre más complicado), sin reserva y con hambre, cenamos tan bien que regresar era obligado. Si la primera experiencia fue positiva, la segunda fue insuperable. En total, en ambas visitas, probamos 12 platos y 4 postres, todo excelente y con una atención personalizada a la altura de restaurantes de postín.

Delicious Italian food. Finally an Italian restaurant without pizzas. 4 different dishes, all great! Very friendly staff. We had not made a reservation but luckily we were able to stay.

Maybe it's the lunch special set. The portion is pitifully small and the taste is quite strong. It can be seen that it is made casually. The only thing is that the service attitude is very good. It is not recommended to eat at lunch time🤦🏻‍♂️

Lovely Italian just seconds from our hotel. After wandering round Edinburgh all day it was nice to find a handy spot for dinner. Food was lovely really well done staff were friendly and good service. Only 1 rose wine on the menu and no pizza for the kids which I didn't check just assumed so my bad. Definitely worth a try we enjoyed our experience.

This was a great little spot we just happened upon walking around Edinburgh. We started with the Caprese Salad that was adorned with buratta, my friend had the Shell Fish Linguine and I had the Lasagna and we shared the garlic bread. The shellfish dish was amazing, fresh fish, well seasoned, flavorful sauce, the portion of shellfish to pasta was extraordinary. The lasagna was ok, there was a little too much cheese to pasta ratio for my liking and I was looking for some meat to cut through the cheese. The bread was wonderful, crunchy, buttery and just the right amount of garlic. We of course had dessert, tiramisu and a cannoli paired with espresso and grappa. My friend devoured her tiramisu, it was creamy and had the perfect balance of cream and coffee flavor. The cannoli I had was the best cannoli I have ever eaten, the shell was crisp and adorned with pistachios, the filling was creamy and had just a hint of orange and the perfect sweetness. And the grappa, who knew you could get good grappa in Scotland? Overall an excellent experience, just a hint more meat in the lasagna would have given it five stars.

We came to Piccolino for a pre-theatre meal on our first night in Edinburgh. We enjoyed the food. I had a very tasty mini parmigiana followed by penne siciliana. My wife enjoyed bruschetta and risotto porcini. No room for dessert! Service was friendly and efficient.

Beautiful food, lovely relaxed atmosphere and very polite staff. We were looking for some good Italian food and felt overwhelmed by optionsm agreed on here and don't think we could have picked a better option. Amazing! We had burrata and meatballs to start. Spectacular, and then the lasagne which was beautifully made with lots of layers. The star of the show for us was the orecchiette salsiccia e friarielli... Absolutely sensational! If you're thinking about coming here, do not sleep on it. Thanks guys
