THE BEST Italian food place we’ve eaten in Scotland. My husband and I both enjoyed a Caprese and it was super fresh. Then, he enjoyed his Carbonara and I was delighted by my Rissotto. Worth stopping to eat amazing and affordable Italian food!

Lovely authentic Italian food and great service. We went with our children who are 7 and 10 and the restaurant had a great children’s menu and made their experience extra special by telling them stories about Italy. We had a lovely time and would definately recommend a visit.

The restaurant was lovely, the staff were all very friendly and attentive. The gnocchi was the best I’ve ever eaten outside of Italy and the carbonara was so good two very fussy teenagers couldn’t stop talking about it. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Edinburgh

Dopo aver cercato invano un posto decente per mangiare a Edimburgo, ormai distrutti dalla sensazione di mangiare direttamente dal secchio dell' indifferenziata ad ogni locale visitato, siamo entrati al Piccolino...Tardi, e ci hanno fatto accomodare ugualmente. Dire di sentirsi a casa è riduttivo, il personale di sala dà un servizio impeccabile, lo Chef poi merita una recensione a parte. È NAPOLETANO. Cucina meglio di mia nonna Siciliana e ho detto tutto. We called in here because our hotel couldn’t seat us for a meal for hours. We were a bit annoyed as we were tired after traveling but WOW, what a great find. The first time I had filetto di manzo which was so tender and flavorful, my partner had paccheri al ragu di cervo omg wonderful! So good we went again the following night. First eve we had tiramisu and second we had cannolo siciliano, both were amazing but the cannolo was ELITE!

When you are charging £26 for mixed grill what you don't expect is a small sausage ring (overcooked) a chicken leg (overcooked) a piece of "beef" (overcooked and inedible) a small very thin pork chop (mostly fat) and a small, undressed salad!!

Great for a romantic lunch, we tried the Christmas menu that was studied in detail, both in terms of presentation and in the combination of flavors. Their risotto was an explosion of sea flavor, but what really amazed me was the turkey where I found a tasty combination of Italian tastes and British tradition. Everything was accompanied by a good prosecco and the sparkling personality of our waitress Alessandra, very attentive that we had everything we needed, such as an eye always to the replacement of your napkins😉 You will not be disappointed by this experience!

I like the pollo mailanese because is cooked perfectly and it serve with chips and salad. The mocha coffee is lukewarm for my taste. Piccolino don't serve pizza at lunch time which confuse me.

I was really looking forward to trying the carbonara here, but unfortunately, it was excessively salty, which overpowered the other flavors. While I appreciate the effort, I think a significant reduction in salt could improve this dish. I hope my feedback is helpful for future improvements.

I went there for a small brunch and really was impressed. My friend had bruchetta which was sizeable for the price (£5) and she said it was really fresh. My meal was prawns in tomato and wine sauce, a starter at £8. It was delicious, full of flavour and a chilli kick. I don't know how it wasn't busier but I'll definitely be going back for late lunch or dinner. I think because it's back from the main road, it might be overlooked by passing custom. I would recommend. Good coffee too. (I have only given 4 for atmosphere because there were only two other diners there but it's a comfortable place to eat).

I was very impressed with my delivered takeaway this evening. It arrived quickly, and everything was delicious. I wish they offered more for vegetarians, but what they did offer was excellent. I had the Caprese Salad, the beautifully smoky-tasting grilled Trio di Verdure, the spirited Penne Arrabbiata, the laid-back Penne Siciliana, the Olive Miste, and the Bruschette Miste, which comprised one tomato bruschetta and one aubergine one. I love aubergine, so I was delighted with this; they were nicely but not over-seasoned. Penne is my favourite form of pasta, and the two penne dishes were very different and both were yummy. The pasta was perfectly al dente. The olives were huge and not too salty. I wished that there had been twice as much grilled veg; I'll order two next time. Italian food can sometimes be oily, salty, or samey, but my order was none of these.

I have dined at Piccolino together with a sizeable group. We all ordered differently, and we all fell in love with our food! Seems like you can't get it wrong here - high quality specialties and authentic Italian flavours. I had the paccheri "with a twist": salmon and prawns instead of the usual venison (it was the special of the day). Absolutely gorgeous! The staff and atmosphere are also to be praised - will certainly head back here when in Edinburgh next time!
