Food very good and many authentic dishes available. Atmosphere non-existent but the focus is the food.

Food tastes very standard - not very spicy and made to suit everyone’s tastes. Average price came to £40/head, which was expensive. Giving credits to the friendly staff and, fast service and nice dining environment.

The food used to be authentic and spicy. I used to order from here often, from few weeks ago there is no spice - boiled tender fish is bland without any spice. I have stopped ordering from here now.

Really tasty meals, wow! Would definitely come back. We had lamb and lemon aubergine. Not cheap at £30 per person for good portion lunch and jasmine tea. But understandable as it's in Holborn and good. Service was welcoming and friendly. They also have a classic round table for a group, and a private room with another round table.

Save your money and go eat at shanghai family. So much better and excellent food plus service.

The food in the restaurant is tasteless and deceptive. I called to inquire about a 60% increase in price before I went there. However, when I arrived, I asked him in person (a man who looked like he was 50-60 years old) and the man who looked like the boss or person in charge only said that the price would be increased. 50%. When we finally checked out, we saw an additional 40% service fee. This was too unreasonable. It is understandable to increase the meal fee during the Christmas period, but it should not be the case to increase the service fee. And we asked in advance, but they deliberately concealed it from us. If they had told us in advance that the service charge would be increased by 40%, we would not have been able to eat at their restaurant. Moreover, this was the worst Sichuan restaurant we have ever eaten in the UK. It was salty and tasteless. This is our first and last time to eat at this restaurant.

Thank you to the conscientious merchants who are still open on Christmas! Otherwise, I really have to eat burgers and fries. The service charge on Christmas Day is a bit higher, but there are restaurants that charge additional service charges on this day, not just this one. The person in charge of the store told us about the service fee as soon as we walked in. It is understandable that Chinese people who insist on working when everyone is on holiday deserve respect. The dishes are delicious. I highly recommend the abalone chicken. It’s only 40 pounds. You can eat abalone. It’s so happy and the price is very reasonable.

Worst dining experience ever! Please avoid this restaurant for the following reasons: 1. Chinese waiters discriminate against Chinese people During the meal, I clearly felt that the service staff treated Chinese customers unfairly. The service attitude was very cold compared to other guests. While we were dining, the service staff asked other foreign guests if they were satisfied with their meals, but did not ask us. During the subsequent checkout process, when I asked why there was a charge for hot water, he said disdainfully: "This is London, every drop of water is charged, not your China. It's very expensive here, there are rents and water bills!" These discriminatory remarks made me extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable. As a Chinese restaurant, it should show more respect and tolerance for local culture and customers, but this employee of the restaurant showed a contemptuous and even discriminatory attitude towards Chinese customers, while being warm and polite to other non-Chinese customers. This "double standard" leaves me disappointed and humiliated. The phenomenon of Chinese people discriminating against Chinese people is heartbreaking, and it also violates the basic principle of customer first in the catering industry. In addition, the service staff is a middle-aged and elderly Chinese male, fluent in Chinese, with a southern accent, and is estimated to be between 55-60 years old. 2. Poor quality food Most of the food in this restaurant is prepared food and lacks freshness. I repeatedly emphasized that there is no chili pepper in one dish and it is for children. However, when the dish was served, chili peppers were still visible. The uncle who discriminated against Chinese people openly said: " The chili is just a garnish, not spicy at all!” In addition, the portion of each dish is small but the price is still high. Unexpectedly, the trend of pre-made dishes has also spread to London! Maybe it’s because rent in London is expensive! I really don’t understand how the previous Google ratings were obtained! 3. Fees are not transparent As mentioned above, when I was about to pay the bill at the end of my meal, I discovered that the restaurant required extra charges for both tea and hot water. The charges for tea and hot water were not clearly informed when ordering and were not revealed until the checkout. This opaque charging method is suspected of misleading customers and seriously affects the dining experience. Tea is charged per person, and hot water is a basic dining requirement, and there is an additional charge. The most puzzling thing is that when I raised a question, another male Chinese staff member took out the menu and said that hot water was charged for on the menu. I asked him to find it, but he rummaged for a long time and said, "Maybe It was on the old menu, but it’s no longer on the new menu. “This behavior makes me feel seriously exploited and disrespected! To sum up, all Chinese people can avoid this restaurant! As a Chinese who has traveled to many countries and currently lives overseas, this is the first time I have given a one-point rating on Google. If there is a zero score, I will not hesitate to give a zero score! ! ! I also hope that the management of this restaurant will seriously reflect on it, seriously face up to it and actively deal with the above issues!

Overall, a very disappointing experience. We visited this restaurant because we had an excellent meal at their Oxford location. However, both the food and service here fell far below our expectations. The food tasted pre-made and reheated. When we requested non-spicy dishes, the staff assured us they weren't spicy at all - despite two spicy indicators on the menu, which they claimed were "just to make spice-lovers think it's spicy." The food turned out to be quite spicy. They also charged us for hot water, insisting it was listed on the menu when it wasn't. To make matters worse, when we asked for an extra cup to share tea, they charged per person without providing additional tea. There are plenty of good restaurants in this area - don't waste your time and money here.

This place is pretty decent for Sichuan food. We wouldn’t say this is truly authentic Sichuan food, but definitely not like the typical Chinese food. Service was pleasant and fast! We do recommend checking this place out!

Dandan noodles and jellyfish are both delicious~

Very disappointed delivery order. Poor quality meat and vegetables. And the vegan dishes that were ordered were laughable, basic, they came without vegetables or tofu or even any sauce/flavouring..just plain boiled noodles for example...I received a refund from Deliveroo for the vegan dishes, the restaurant should not offer a vegan/vegetarian menu especially without including vegetables in the dishes!

The food is exceptional. I had the classic pork in hot sechuan oil hotpot and also the wok fried cumin lamb. I had a side of wok fried noodles with veg. The flavour was powerful, fresh and the dishes absolutely zinged. The owner and waiting staff were pleasant and the food came fast and hot. The decor and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired but who cares with food this good. I've tried many UK sechuan restaurants. One in particular in Oxford called My Sechuan is a personal favourite. But Sechuan Grande in Holborn is now right up there in terms of food quality.

We went to the Sichuan Grand after visiting the British museum, and it was an absolute delight! Just 2-minute walk from the museum. I love sichuan food but I'm actually not very good with spicyness, but Sichuan Grand is just perfect in being spicy but doesn't hurt! Extremely satisfied. Will recommend to anyone who happened to be in the area and just looking for a good meal in a nice environment!

**The Faulty F-A-W-L-T-Y, Sichuan: A Comedy of Culinary Errors** Upon entering The Grand Sichuan, one might expect a touch of the exotic, a sprinkle of oriental flair amidst the stately British charm. What we received, however, was a comedic romp through a Chinese restaurant that would have made Basil Fawlty himself raise an eyebrow. Let's begin with the service—or should I say, the lack thereof. Our waiter, a chap who seemed perpetually befuddled, stumbled around the dining room as if he had just encountered a gust of wind. "Sorry, I'm dizzy," (or was it busy?) he proclaimed each time he brought a dish, leaving us wondering whether he needed a doctor or a compass. To be fair, his efforts were valiant, albeit in the wrong direction. Dish after dish arrived that bore little resemblance to our orders. The pièce de résistance arrived with the bill—a staggering 60 pounds per person. We pondered the idea of contesting this, but alas, our energy levels were as depleted as our patience with the dizzy waiter. Besides, we suspected any attempt at rectification would be as successful as teaching a cat to yodel. Adding to the spectacle was the aging, balding Chinese owner, who donned a suit that seemed to have seen more prosperous days. He sat stoically in the corner, barking orders at the staff in a mixture of Mandarin and what I can only assume were colourful expletives in any language. His presence lent an air of chaotic authority to the proceedings, reminiscent of a conductor frantically trying to keep a runaway train on its tracks. As if to complete the farce, a sign near the entrance cheerfully informed us of the restaurant's facilities: "ManRest-Room." I can only assume they were inviting male patrons to a luxurious rest or a vigorous game of swordplay. In summary, The Faulty F-A-W-L-T-Y, Sichuan, offers an experience that straddles the line between culinary adventure and theatrical calamity. The food, when it eventually aligned with our desires, was surprisingly satisfactory, showcasing the rich flavors of Sichuan. However, if you visit, be prepared for a performance worthy of a sitcom script, complete with a dizzy waiter, a gruff owner, and linguistic curiosities. Just remember to keep your sense of humor intact—it's the best condiment for this particular feast.

First of all, I have to praise this little stir-fried pork. It’s so fragrant, just the right amount of spiciness, and very thin. It’s not oily at all. It seems like there’s not enough oil in it. And the ingredients are extremely fresh. And it’s so hot in London, but there’s air conditioning here! Very clean. Great.

A great place for reunion and food sharing. The authentic Si Chuan dishes are recommended. The type of Si Chuan spice would not be easily found elsewhere in the city. Service was great too. Uncomfortable sitting int with round table for big groups.

I stopped by after walking around the British Museum. The inside of the restaurant is stylish, and the floor doesn't have that greasy feeling that is typical of Chinese restaurants. It was extremely clean. The spicy dishes will definitely make you want to drink Tsingtao beer. The store staff were also very responsive and answered all my questions thoroughly. I arrived after 1pm, so the restaurant was empty, but the food came out quickly. My wife also wants to go.

Honestly, we went here because it was very close to our hotel. We saw outside that the prices were high, but still tried it anyway. We were seated at first near the entrance & the windows and we could see the gap between the wall and the glass/window, there were SO MUCH airflows we were freezing. We asked to change seats and got closer to the bar, so no problem anymore on that. Then we ordered our food, it came quickly but it definitely wasn't worth it for the price. Sweet and sour chicken was mid for £15.90 :(. They also served us chicken curry although we asked for beef curry, but for us it wasn't a big deal so chicken curry it was :,) It felt a bit uncomfortable because the boss was next to us, always scanning the room if anything was needed for service or else, even if we spoke French the entire time, I felt spied ahah. Overall, it was good, but the 2 stars are because of the price, it's definitely NOT worth it. Try somewhere else :/

It’s not as good as the branch in Oxford. It tastes terrible. I ordered six dishes and none of them were delicious. The signature dishes all taste very strange. The boiled fish is very salty and fishy. Mao Xuewang only has chili peppers without spicy taste. The duck blood is also very watery. , the bullfrog was very salty and dry, and the fresh pepper chicken was not delicious either. I was really disappointed. It even tasted so bad that I wondered if the previous good reviews were all false. Could it be that the chef was on holiday? The boss's attitude also makes me feel very uncomfortable. I won't come back anyway. I should have left after ordering two dishes and found they were not delicious. It's outrageous that he has such a famous reputation and still tastes so bad.

Authentic food, but overpriced and not of the highest quality. Me and two friends ate here last night and spent £140 between the three of us (Inc one pint of beer each) which is more expensive than similar restaurants, that have better food. For the la zi gi, the chilli's were undercooked and chewey, not crispy. The chicken in it didn't not have the flavour of the hua jiao, but just tasted like battered chicken (KFC popcorn chicken) it was £23 too which is super expensive for the dish. For the hui guo ro, the pork was 2/3s fat when it should be at most 1/2. Almost felt like we were given cheaper cuts of meat to maximise profit. The gong pao gi ding was too saucy which overwhelmed the rest of the flavour. The lamb rib gang guo we got, was great though. Maybe not the best meat ever, but the flavour of the vegetables and sauce was spot on. Really lovely Sichuan flavour. If we'd spent £90 I'd be happy and giving this a higher rating, but I expect better quality when paying £140. Food is solid, but not worth it for that price and there are similar restaurants close by which have better food for a cheaper price. Staff were nice though.

I enjoyed it. Good food for a decent price. Food is on a slight greasy side so please expect that if you do visit. Friendly staff and decent interior (much better than a lot Chinese restaurants in China town) make the overall experience enjoyable. I do recommend to others.
