Siam Brasserie Restaurant in Chelmsford

The food at this restaurant is amazing however the service is very poor unless you are clearly a "regular" . We had a table for two booked, we were sat in the tightest corner right by the toilet where they had managed to just about squeeze a table in, and you could just about wedge your legs in and I am under 5ft! We ordered our food, and a bottle of wine, and I asked for some water too. The wine came, eventually but I had to ask for water 4 times before eventually we were bought two luke warm tumblers of water, whilst the "regulars" on the next table were bought at least 2 jugs of cold iced water while we waited parched in our squashed corner... You can't service your "regulars" and ignore everyone else....we won't be returning anytime soon...

Absolutely amazing and authentic Thai food!! Too bad we only discovered it today and they told us it’s their last day!! All their staff and chefs are Thai people and from my understanding they’re retiring and going back to Thailand 🙁 so if you see this review and it’s not too late go today!!! Every single thing we ordered was good. They said to keep a look out for their update on the website they might find another location and open up again, but not till next year April time (roughly).

I love this restaurant very much, delicious and good service.

Fantastic food. I had a lovely lamb shank panang with sticky rice, superb. Really tasty, meat falls off the bone. Attentive waiters but not too much. A little pricey but it's worth it for this Thai cuisine.

Came with a group of 8 people and the food was really good. Service was fast and friendly. Honestly the best green curry I’ve had in a long time and the duck spring roll starter was also very good. Will definitely recommend and be back!

Lovely Thai! Amazing attentive staff. Aside from slight mix-up with my main that was quickly swapped within 5 minutes, this was a perfect stop off in an often neglected area near the high street.

We had a takeaway tonight and honestly didn't want it to end! I didn't even want to share with my pooch, who was terribly disappointed 😁

A cidade de Chelmsford fica 30 minutos de Londres e é uma gracinha. Estou aqui visitando minha filha, então vou postar alguns restaurantes.

Had a lovely meal for my friends birthday there was 22 of us and the staff looked after us .Food very tasty and lovely cocktails.

Went for an early dinner on Saturday night. We didn't have a booking, but the friendly hostess managed to squeeze us in as it was early. The decorations and atmosphere are very good. We opted for vegan food, for veganuary, there were plenty of options, and it was all delicious. Service was quick and friendly, and some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand

Excellent restaurant, both food and service is top notch.

Tried the special lunch menu. Plenty of space during the weekdays and pleasant service. Great place to go to on your lunch break if you'd like something hot and filling. The chicken green curry was very good.

Lovely restaurant, came for my partners birthday, it was v quiet when we arrived but no clue why that is as the food is some of the best Thai we’ve ever had. The cocktails are yummy too. Service is also friendly. Will definitely be returning

Excellent Thai food, attentive service.

I was looking for somewhere to eat lunch with my partner and saw that this restaurant offers a 2 course lunch for £10.95, so I went in. There was a choice of around 4 or 6 starters and around 8 main courses which was excellent. The starter was 10/10 but fairly modest in size. The main course was also 10/10 for flavor and presentation but not as spicy as suggested on the menu. It was good value. The service was efficient but neither friendly nor unfriendly. I enjoyed the lunch which was filling enough and I would be happy to return.

We chanced upon the Siam Brasserie having been badly let down by another establishment. It turned out our misfortune was in fact a moment of good fortune. The Brasserie made our lunch time a very enjoyable event. The food was very good and the service was attentive without being intrusive. We will be going there again, quite possibly in the very near future.

Came in for a last minute dinner(4 persons) and they accommodated us no problem. Staff were very attentive and polite. Food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Will return soon. Well done Siam Cottage.

The place itself is very nice inside with traditional Thai wood carvings. The food was very tasty and served in a reasonable time. My only comment or criticism would be the guy who served us did not speak or engage in any conversation other than taking our order, there was a distinct lack of greeting as we entered the restarant and did not even show us to a table just followed us down and we chose our our table. There was no eye contact with him and he seemed to be totally detached from any customer contact other than taking the order. Never asked if we enjoyed our meal literally nothing. Very strange man can only put it down to he did not speak English apart from what was on menu. On the customer non service element I honestly would not rush back there. This seems very critical but not ever had this non customer service before in a restarant. The other lady who did not serve us seemed OK. Food OK service non exist ant be warned. 😊

Amazing food! We had dinner there recently. Authentic tastes, the sauces were home cooked! Staff was really nice and service excellent.

Service was great. Food was fantastic. Went for lunch, so we had the option of the amin menu as well as a two course lunch menu. Would recommend a visit if you're in Chelmsford.

Siam brasserie has tons of character. It's a bit odd getting inside as there is a door into what feels like a 1/2 glass 1/2 wood elevator which you then go through to get into the main area. This 'elevator'' area is in the way of the stairs so I wonder if it is some kind of Covid precaution to slow entry. The staff let us in before our reservation which was much appreciated as the wind was bitterly cold. Staff led us to a table and gave us menus. Staff were polite and well knowledgeable about the menu. The dishes I tried were exquisite and well presented. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. I found the pricing to be reasonable and would visit again when I next go to Chelmsford. A lovely meal was had here.

We had an enjoyable takeaway. We only lost one star as a nonplussed to see us and could have been nicer. The food was acceptable for the price.

The food is delicious and fresh. My boyfriend and I went there on a quiet evening and we had very fresh and fragrant food. The atmosphere is relaxed and the people who work there are friendly and polite. Totally recommend it.

Fabulously authentic food and ambience

Very good value lunch menu. Friendly and helpful service, with NHS covid qr code presented for scanning. Food was lovely - I had satay chicken skewers to start with and had one nicked by my son, followed by cashew chicken with steamed Thai rice. All cooked perfectly.

Takeaway menu, good food but nothing special. Only 3 stars as the price they charge you is higher than on their website. Not much, £1.5, but doing this for each customer can be big money for them. When told them about it the only answer was they did not have time to update their website. Very true during lockdown as everybody is super busy!!!!!

Best Thai meal I've ever had! The Redang is to die for! Covid safe guarding are superb, felt safe and looked after throughout my meal.

How was the Siam Cottage? It's ok. The food is alright. My Padang curry was overly sweet for me but it did have good flavour. I ordered sticky rice, this was served (I guess microwaved) inside a plastic bag as a firm lump of rice. The staff were pleasant but forgetful. Several times we had to remind them they'd forgotten something we had ordered. Would I go there again, probably if invited again with friends who already had a table booked there.

Food was average and a bit pricey, but more disturbing was a foreign lady trying to sell us a mobile phone and becoming quite insistent that we look at it, even when I told her in no uncertain terms that I wasn't interested. She then left only to return 20 minutes later to talk to one of the staff. Needless to say that's my first and last visit.

Disappointing. I have dined in this restaurant for about 10 years and have always throughly enjoyed it. This time was different. I decided to treat myself to a takeaway, which was delivered through Deliveroo. The salt and pepper tofu didn’t have any seasoning and was dripping in oil. The corn cakes were nice but again so greasy and oily. The noodles were over powered by lots of ginger. And the jungle curry was just overcooked vegetables swimming in a chilli water! So disappointed with my experience today, will be reluctant to have food from here again as I’ve left over half of it. And it’s not cheap either!

Food was ok but the area is unsafe. I went there with my in-laws and my baby. A weird woman came from the street to our table (we were inside) asking for money, she should not be allowed in. I had a newborn in my hands ,we were all sitting on a table I was really scared as she had a lighter in her hand that she was turning on and off so close to my baby. I was choked that nobody from the staff came to help!! This event ruined our family lunch and we left frustrated. I never been to a restaurant where people asking for money come to your table inside. I won’t go back there purely for safety reasons :/

Have been many times before, although the restaurant seems to have changed hands since the last visit. As before, food was excellent and service good. The price was quite a bit more expensive than experienced on previous visits and the menu dumbed down a bit. Will be back I am sure - just need to expect less choice and to pay a bit more.
