Enjoyable lunch today. Smaller plates r a good idea for smaller appetites. Not many places have this facility. Homemade curry was v tasty. Well priced meals.

Beautiful country pub. The food is excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. It's got a decent sized beer garden for the better weather. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Dog friendly. There's a very narrow entrance to the carpark.

What a gem! The attention to detail given during our stay was 5 star. The room was spotless, lovely big space, very comfy beds and extras to make our stay special. The bathroom has a great shower with shampoo and shower gel and body lotion. Big fluffy towels and dressing gowns too. The breakfast is one of the best cooked breakfasts I have ever had! Great choice and a perfect amount. We had a brilliant Sunday lunch, once again, cooked to perfection. A big car park, very quiet village, lovely staff. If you are in the area book this gem of a place! See you all again soon x

I was really really impressed with this place. I rode up on my bicycle, to find a really quaint country pub, with locals as regulars, it was peaceful and friendly. Very traditional and original, the plug sockets for the lamps were those pre ww2 kind. Really nice to see genuinely old things in a traditional pub, as opposed to the modern pub with fake old things. I ate here 3 times. The food was astoundingly good. Really first rate. I had breakfast twice. Both times it was the best full English I've ever had. Bar none. Every item was like its own event, cooked to perfection. I saw the chef and I told him. They hadn't just slapped everything together in a fryer and called it a breakfast like most places. Everything was individual. Butter fried mushrooms. Scrambled egg was shaped and decorated. Bacon was thick and tasted like dry cure. Sausages were very very hot, (most places have them lukewarm.) Tomatoes were on the vine and grilled, not the tinned kind. Beans were in a mini tub so they wouldn't run. Hash brown was served vertical so it drained and avoided any liquid run-off absorption. It was easily worth the price tag. Everything in this place was top notch. Highest price breakfast I've ever had. But absolutely worth every penny, if not more. The staff were super friendly. They recognized me after I'd been just once before. The first time I went in I asked if they could refill my water bottle from the road, and the second time I went in, I knew they recognized me because they said 'hi... want your water bottle filling?' I chat a lot, sometimes too much, because I can go days on the road without speaking to anyone. But they were very friendly about it, and I felt at home in their pub. Off the cuff, I also wanted to stay in one of the rooms. However, I have a disability, that is a severe perfume allergy, so almost all hotels are off limits to me. Its the cleaning fluids they have to use. They let me see the rooms first, so I could make a decision. They were amazing. I saw 3 of them. Really high quality. Due to the allergy thing, I couldn't say yes to them, unfortunately. They couldn't exactly swap all their cleaning fluids for scent free right there and then, so it wasn't their fault. However, unlike in most places where they'd treat me like some weirdo or think I was awkward for wasting their time, instead they went a step above and beyond to help me. I was travelling with a tent, and it was dark now, so instead of having to sleep by the roadside or trespass on some farmer's land, they set me up in their little back paddock. So I got to have another breakfast when I got up in the morning. Very nice. When you have a disability, especially a hidden disability, its the little things that make all the difference. I fully intend to pass by their pub again in the future, and take the opportunity to have one of their delightful breakfasts.

My oh my, very rarely does a pub live up to it's best reviews, but this place well, very easily one of the best meals I've had!! I had the lamb. Cooked to perfection with a liberal measure of the melt on your taste buds gravy. My partner the beef, equally a delight to the palette. If you don't believe me come and try for yourself.

Whew, after a very long trip that started 32 days ago, 12 hotels and probably 1600 miles; I must say that this hotel is a very nice surprise. It literally has anything and everything you could need. Spacious bed, comfortable mattress Pillows that don't go flat...I hate that Rain drop and hand-held shower fixtures Towel warmer Nice spa-level shampoo and lotions Walk-in automatic light Soft large towels and face towels Spa robes The tea station has water, crisps, and biscuits. The really special touch the host provided us with a thermos of milk; very much appreciated after such a long time traveling. The telly is probably the largest that we have seen in Scotland and the UK. The side tables have outlets behind them for easy phone charging and glasses also here for water. The extra touch that I have share is that they provided an aromatherapy therapy spray for calming and deep sleep. The restaurant has 3 star level food and drinks. Everything here far exceeds even the 4 star hotel that we stayed elsewhere. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choices. I chose the yogurt with berries and granola. It was perfect, as well as my husband's full English breakfast. Highly recommend staying and eating here. Only suggestion... maybe put a table fan in the room for those hot days. I highly would recommend staying here, and if we are ever back in the area, we will definitely come back!

Stopped here for a meal, for no reason other than it was half way between my brother's house and mine. He booked it. I thought he'd done loads of research, but he assured me he had put no effort in at all, it was literally a stick a pin in a map job. Anyway, the food blew us all away. So rare nowadays to see a menu and want to eat everything on it. Even rarer, everything on it, that we had, was absolutely gorgeous. The only slight fault, maybe, was the veg was a little bit too "Al dente". I'm not making an issue out of that though - how could I, I ate it all... Great beers too and a really good, really friendly service. Can't wait to go back.

My son married at Wharfedale Grange on Sat 23rd March. We stayed in the suite at the Shoulder of mutton (ground floor) Friday 22nd and 23rd March. My friend kate and brother and wife had other two rooms on 1st floor. It was absolutely delightful extremely clean and comfy beds lovely shower and lots of little extras. The pub was perfect lovely atmosphere brilliant smiling staff and the lamb and pork fillet delicious. Book table as very popular and I can see why. The breakfast is best we have had great selection and cooked wonderfully, again served by the most lovely friendly staff. Kate the owner allowed us to have late check out on Sunday which was so kind nothing too much trouble. As we left on Sunday I could see lots of people arriving to have the popular sunday roast so upset we could not stay. If visiting harrogate or leeds which I intend to do when I book to spend longer there. Thank you. Forgot to mention real ales !!

Stayed for just 1 night, but we had a fantastic time. The room was lovely and extremely clean with great facilities and super comfortable. We ate in the pub on the evening and my wife and I agreed it was fantastic food, the best lamb dish we have had in many a year. Kate the host was great and really looked after us. Had the option of staying in Harrogate, but really glad we chose this place. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely food just a shame being sat very close to the bar on a busy Fri night as was very noisy and nearly had afew ppl reverse there butts onto our table whilst they were standing in big groups drinking at the bar 😂 but the food was delicious and well presented and the staff friendly and accommodating the best they could with a staff member short that night

An absolute gem of a pub this place. Warm and cosy with a lovely quaint vibe. Good selection of drinks, the food was top notch and service was excellent. I opted for the lamb, which was delicious. The kids meals are a fantastic deal in this pub and include what I would describe as an adult portion ice cream! The chocolate orange ice cream was an excellent choice by my youngest and unfortunately for her most of it was appropriated by myself, obviously for the benefit of this review! Fantastic restaurant, I can't wait to return!

Beautiful meal at The Shoulder of Mutton, Kirby Overblow recently. We visited for a family birthday on an evening, and ate as a party of seven. Warm, friendly welcome, attentive, passionate staff. Wonderful real Ales, coal burning coasy fires and delicious, home cooked food at a reasonable rate. Would highly recommend and we will be back. Fantastic for kids too. A great place to eat, we had breakfast there which was perfectly cooked, hot and good portion sizes. The service was quick, courteous and with a smile. The icing on the cake for my wife was the fact they served tea with a pot of hot water - old fashioned but a nice touch. The pub has a very good atmosphere about it, that real country feel located in a small village just outside Harrogate. Plenty of parking and I believe good wheelchair access. Well worth a visit if the evening meals are as tasty as the breakfast we had you won't be disappointed!

I stay at The Queens Head Inn Kettlesing on a regular basis and it is a great place to stay at. The rooms are excellent. There is ample car parking spaces at the pub. The food is excellent. Good bar with plenty of choice. Locals who go into the pub are very friendly and helpful. Owners Louise and Glen and their daughter Meghan are excellent hosts. There is also wifi available throughout the pub and rooms. I would strongly recommend a visit to the Queens Head Inn Kettlesing. It really is a fantastic village pub with excellent rooms and excellent food available. Great place to stay at and eat at!

Old school curry house, which I personally like. Food was abit shy of the mark considering this is a highly rated curry house in Harrogate. Onion bhaji was a re-fry, not good, salad was basic, chicken balti overspiced and drowned in oil. Prices the same as anywhere else not great value overall.
