Great food,Reasonable prices,Warm welcome

Ok on a positive, the staff are Great but the food as taken a dive. The chicken donna is now chicken Tandoori and even the basic lamb as Cumin ect in it and not like you get from a normal kebab shop. I have also had the large cod in here and its all batter and hardly any fish. I know it has changed hands but why change it if its not broken. I have been using here for a while now but no more..😒

Fantastic food -Great selection of food and fab of kids meals ( these are more than enough for an adult with a smaller appetite or a lunch The staff are amazing friendly, always happy and will cater for your every need. Added bonus here is the of jacket potatoes and selection toppings very tasty and ideal if "that one" in the family don't fancy chips. Absolutely fantastic value for money will return again and again.

DISGUSTINGLY NASTY OVER PRICED FOOD.. NEEDS CLOSING DOWN..

Terrible food cooked in a very dirty kitchen rude incompetent staff especially the owner who needs to go to spec savers ! Their back door on the ally way is discusting full of rubbish starch water dumped on the floor making it unsafe and exstremlu smelly and rotting food dumped on the floor a random large bolder left for anyone to trip over

New owners have made a world of difference, it's good value and good food. Deesh and the rest of the team are lovely. Hope they can continue to thrive!

food arrived piping hot and correct as ordered. only issue I had was just a tiny amount of lettuce in my burger, but I can easily state for more next time. great price and portion sizes are good. will be ordering again

Clicked delivered. I had to call the restaurant and then was told only 7 minutes away. Had to wait a further 20 minutes (when it was already late) and everything was cold and soggy.

The quality of the food is consistently excellent. I have placed five orders with this establishment, and each time the food has been prepared to perfection.

My god what a terrible overpriced meal. Chips were foul, chicken burger was rancid and the donner meat was inedible with a terrible smell. I can’t believe how horrific this meal was. I feel robbed. Used to be really good but since it’s changed hands I would keep away. Really disappointing

Lovely customer service. But a terrible shame about the food. The chips were so hard they were inedible. They were awful.

Food was delayed taking over an hour however when it arrived it was hot. Cod lovely and crispy but the chips were undercooked - had to throw in the air fryer to finishing cooking them. I have ordered from the food bar in the past and will continue to as I think this was a blip due to it being valentines and guessing they were either very busy or short staffed for this reason.

The food was 10/10 Hot tasty and plentiful 😉

kebab meat wat there was of it was luke warm at best. chips were same but undercooked and not proper chippychips. whats happened to your high standards

Speaking Asian language can’t understand. Very expensive and the food is terrible defo not a traditional fish and chip shop. Fish and chip shops should not sell kebab, rotten kebab as well. This is the only food place to eat in shortstown so now I understand why they have 4stars we have nowhere else to go we are forced to come to you hence why you overprice your customers.

The fish was of good quality but the portion was huge. I personally would prefer the option of a medium piece of fish rather than just a large for about £9. The fish was fried fresh to order.

Food took ages and wasn’t very warm even tho I’m less than a 2 min drive I usually collect but couldn’t today was not hot really not good like it use to be

Fish and chips were good, fish cake good, but the donner meat was like dog meat! Very gritty and felt like It was full of stone... possibly the worst I've ever tried in my life, and I eat out nearly every day when working away... gdk still has the best donner meat around!! Chicken kebab was very nice, the hot wings were really dry, too much coating... hence the 3/5 rating. If they invested more into a better quality of donner, I'd rate 5 stars all day long.

Ordered to the wrong address and they changed it even after delivery was out. Food is always good quality and really good taste. Would recommend it to anyone.

While the quality of food is great as is the service, I'm not entirely sure there's a lot of difference between large or small trays of meat other than the size of the container. Sadly as prices rise you get less for your money, disappointing that you guys have gone from serving a "large" mixed meat tray that would feed two people, that now feeds one especially with the chicken 😕

Overpriced, undercooked chips and possibly the worst I've ever tasted. Both my wife and I left more than we ate. Sausage and chips twice over £11, really?

Recently used for first time. Got home and realised a portion of chips and battered sausage was missing from the order. Too far to go back. The chips we did have were really dry and some hard. I think they had been cooked well beforehand. My pie looked and tasted liked it had been microwaved? Soggy and quite unedible. Wouldn't go back.

Chips could have been cooked longer. We ordered 2 cans of soft drinks which didn’t arrive but we had paid for! Delivery driver offered to go to a local shop and buy 2 cans. Came back 10 mins later with £3 to reimburse us instead of the drinks, but at £1.65 a can that wasn’t the full amount refunded.

Always delivered hot and very large portions for the price. Really recommend the mozzarella sticks💖

Cold salad missing hardly any chicken Doner meat was inedible

The delivery driver would not deliver my order to my apartment and would only wait in reception until I came down to collect it. I paid for delivery to my door NOT reception. When I got back to my apartment and opened the the package the chips were stone cold and the chicken was over cooked to almost burned and was mainly inedible as the coating was like leather.. This is not the first time I have had cold food, mainly because the drivers are not given insulated bags to keep the food hot. I have been a customer for quite a while and have rung and complained to the shop but all was said was oh dear! I have not had an order from them for some time and after today I will not be ordering again, nor will I recommend them!

Underrated fish and chip shop. The fact that they do kebabs with naan breads is a game changer and you certainly get good value for money. Will definitely be returning

Kebab from here was very tasty. Nice and hot, great flavour and generous portions. Couldn't really fault it. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Once the jewel in Shortstowns crown, winning best bedfordshire fish and chip shop it is now a bit...meh. Don't get me wrong, since the shop has changed hands, they've continued serving the community well. Just, not as well as before. Chips are ALWAYS soggy and taken from the fryer too early, donner kebabs are heavily packed and insanely messy. The fish here is good though. Can't speak for the rest of the menu but they do the food here, ok. It's not bad at all but, it's no longer the gem it used to be.

The best F&C in Bedford!! Especially the haddock. 10 out of 10 every time.

Just had chips half an hour ago (Mon 17/07/2023) Were these left over or scrapings? It’s always hit and miss, sometimes lovely, sometimes not. A 50% hit rate will not bring us back. Maybe it’s too early in the evening to make fresh and we are not big spenders but even so …

Have never had a bad meal always fabulous.

Sadly it all tasted like it was cooked from last night, really sad as usually the food is really good, threw it all in the bin.

We've ordered many times before and regularly given it five star reviews however, have to say this time we were very disappointed. The chips were hard and dry - like they had been sitting out for a long time, the lettuce was limp and the cod, though a decent size, was so greasy it soaked through the box and I could only manage to eat half the cod itself as the batter underneath was soggy and the top inedible. Such a shame.

Really tasty fish, not excessive with the batter, and chips were crispy which is rare. All delivered bang on time too.

Good food, hot, fresh and tasty

Really good food, delivered early, nice and hot. 1 item was made slightly wrong but restaurant offered a replacement/refund and were very apologetic.

Chips weren’t cooked all the way through and the smaller 1s that were cooked were rather soggy unfortunately. Jalapeño bites were good and they forgot a portion of chips also.

Awful!! Absolutely awful. The greasiest kebabs I've ever seen or had to pay for. I will never order from these again.

First time ordering from here, went on previous reviews. Food was very good and loads of it too. We were very happy with our order and would definitely recommend ! It came slightly late but being a busy Saturday we didn't mind too much.
