Very friendly staff, lovely food and freshly cooked

Delicious cod served in a friendly, professional manner.

Service was good but forgot part of my order and had to be reminded, a simple mistake. The food was very good with the fish and chips being presented in a cardboard box, a nice touch that is environmentaly better than Styrofoam and makes it easy to eat. The vegeburger was very well received too. Access is not that easy, on account of the very narrow road with two way traffic, but the food made it worthwhile. Consider parking away from the shop, perhaps at the park, and walking in.

Had a different name when we pulled up. The cod father? Food was good. Although the chip and sausage/fish with sauce deal came with the sauce all over the chips. Would have preferred it in a pot.

Opposite the Co-op in the village friendly staff clean. Can pay by card though fairly pricey.

Had a mixed kebab with nan bread and it has to be the best kebab I have ever had by far.

This place is nice, good location. However I have come across that the service can be slow at times and can sometimes take up to 45 minutes or more, it’s not very good if you want to pop in for a quick meal, also the portions of chip they serve are HUGE! I mean, if your sharing one portion then maybe it’s all right however it’s not clear on how many you get, obviously it’s nice to get more then a few chips but I feel that it’s just going to get waste most of the time, however other then that this place is really nice and has very kind and welcome staff.

YUK ! They haven’t got a clue about cooking fish. Absolute rubbish. The whole place looks like it could do with a thorough clean. Filthy looking hole.

Best fish and chips in the area

Sausage and chips was great but we got two Chicken Kababs and was not impressed. Pitta bread put on top of the box so nothing put in it you do it yourself and it wasn't even cut open, so a real pain and salad very poor and poorly cut. Massive chunks of tomato, onion not cut up, very lazy. And no Chillies/peppers. Would not visit again, will stick to Newport Pagnell Turkish Kabab shop, which is amazing.

I thought I’d phone to check if Harold Green was open during the circumstances and found out it was. I thought great, lifesaver. Annoyingly it was only till I actually got to the shop that I realised from the sign in the window that it was orders by phone only as no one bothered to tell me that it was only orders by phone only. Without me even saying a word the man then said to me large fish and chips which I was about to yes to, but then instead said I hadn’t placed an order because I wasn’t told that I had to. He then said that he only had fish cake, normal and battered sausage and chips left and so I placed an order for fishcake with chips and curry sauce and a separate portion of chips When I got the order he said he had put the batter and normal sausage in the bag on the house which fair enough was kind of him, but I don’t eat meat so gave them to my mum and step dad and when I opened the packaging there was no fishcake to be seen so I’m now left with just bloody chips, because as I said I don’t eat meat so thank you very much and I will be coming back to the shop tomorrow to get my £6.30 back 😤

Great menu - wide range - and you can eat in!

We order from here quite often and always a good service until today when they forgot some of our food. When ringing they admitted it was missing but refused to re deliver! No refund either and not even an apology. Won’t be ordering from this shambles again

3 times now the fish and chips were cold and one piece of fish was mostly batter. I told them about the fact that the fish and chips were cold and they didnt seem bothered so I will not go there again. No wonder the shop is nearly always empty!

Fish and chips very greasy and lukewarm not very nice dogs enjoyed it tho worst take away had from them

When we finally found it, the place was closed even though their online times said it was open. Place looked really run down and tired on the outside. There was paper stuck up to cover all the windows. No light on or anything. Shame we didn't get to try the food because the great reviews on here made us want to go.

brilliant place to eat lots of options for every one staff are very nice not best place sit in and eat but the food is wonderful. anyone that hasn't been there should defiantly go there

Decor is nothing more than you would expect from the chip shop but most importantly the quality of the fish and chips is always high and there's a wide range of accompaniments and alternatives.

Really good food. Serves kebabs, pizza, fish, pies and sausages all for a good price and they're pretty generous with their portions, especially the chips. All of the ingredients are fresh too.

Very small pitta bread placed on top of nicely cooked, generous portion of lamb, but "salad" consisted of just onions, red cabbage and very little lettuce or tomato.

Incredibly busy chip shop which services Harrold and the surrounding villages Very clean and always has a very appetising salad bar to accompany the kebabs Fish is good quality and has a light tasty batter Down side on the occasions I've ordered has been the chips - always get scraps and rather dry offerings - end of batch Have currently put this down to timing and bad luck as it's very busy and maybe the next batch is not quite ready ? Hopefully next time lucky and I get chips !!!

Great quality food. Salad bar for kebabs and burgers. Good size portions and normal cost. Chips nice and batter good. Million times better than the van which travels around the villages.

Fish and chips are one of the great British staples. Increasingly a cultural treat, finding good quality fish and chips can be really difficult. To my mind, the secret is in the quality of the ingredients and the batter for the fish. At the Harold Green Fish Bar, both are excellent. The batter melts in the mouth and doesn't leave the unpleasant taste that some can. Plus the mushy peas are good and not too sulphurous, and they use a heavy vinegar which, with salt, creates that wonderful aroma and taste that have long made this an essential part of the national palate. You can buy it at the supermarket and heat it up in the oven but nothing beats the real thing when it is well done, as it is here.
