King Cod in Bedford

Sadly portions are a lot to be desired. Large chips barely did one of us let alone two. Probably got a small handful each at most. Battered sausages were fine. Food tasted good, can’t complain at quality and delivery but for the price I’d rather go to another shop where there’s more value for money and we actually feel we’ve eaten a meal after ordering rather than a snack. We had toast an hour or so later to fill the hole.

Food not bad.....asked for cod without the skin as prompted by the notice under the till but it came with skin 🙄

Great piece of fish, good chips. Could do with being abit warmer when it arrives. It was earlier than the app said so impressed with that.

My dinner wasn’t pleasant tonight as I had to remove the skin myself losing the bottom half of my fish. I did ask for the skin to be removed but I guess the staff didn’t see that part. Usualy “KING COD” food is 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ sorry just not tonight .

Don’t order from here. When you ask for salad they put it in the actual box so you get half donor and half salad. Scan

Kebab not great but the fish and chips were. Wouldn’t order kebab again but would order for fish/chips :)

Really good chips, and a decent amount of cheese with them.

Was a little late, but the quality of the food made up for it. Just the right amount for two of us, fish was beautiful. Could have been a bit warmer though when it arrived.

Normally the food is good but this time the fish,three pieces,was not cooked fresh as the colour and texture of the batter was dark and oily,probably previous cook up times leftovers.

First time order, was very nice, kebabs come with naan and a side of chip shop chips! Will definitely be using these guys again ! 👍

the order was wrong they put garlic Mao on donner meat when I asked for mint sauce so didn't eat my food as I do not like garlic mao

For the second time now drink has been charged but not delivered... Staff seem stressed and under staffed chips not cooked and soggy we wont be coming back a third time

Our food was delivered cold, we had an item missing and it took over an hour to come.

Shame think they were super busy as food quality was excellent but was very delayed and pretty cold when it got here

The salad would of been better with lettuce,to much red cabbage,etc.tom&cucumber ok.Fish&chips were nice.

Absolutely awful chip's was recycled and I had to throw it away the kebab wasn't fresh either straight away had to go to the toilet and suffered for the rest of the day

Delivery time was great as was all the food.

I have been going to King Cod for a few years now and have always found it to be very clean with polite and friendly staff. The fish and chips have always been very good, but on our last visit, things have changed. The fish inside the batter was smaller, and the large chips were not as large as previous visits. The order came a lot quicker than expected as the fish was always cooked to order, which meant at least a 10 to 15 minute wait. I hope this was a one-off as I will return to try again.

Was welcomed when I arrived (was a bit early and they was just finishing getting my order together) friendly staff once order was complete got home and the food was perfectly cooked. Looked great and tasted fantastic .

Weird and bland tasting curry and pea dip. Soggy chips, and overpriced under portioned ketchup. Would NOT recommend. Looking forward to other less bland fish and chip options 👎🏾

Lovely fish and chips. Possibly the best since we moved to Bedford. Wise to just get one medium portion of chips between us though.

Delayed delivery and the haddock is not of good quality. Chips are cold.

Overcooked and missing food and drinks yet just eat refund to refund me for the missing stuff.

Ordered food on deliveroo. Was told that the food was ‘on its way’, an hour later rang the restaurant asking where the food was. They stated that it’s not on its way and it’s too far for the driver. Absolutely appalling the restaurant didn’t even bother to make contact. Avoid at all costs. Still took the money. Pure greed and thieves.

Ordered from here spent £32 and when we got our food it was cold and we found hair in the food when I called up to complain the manager asked what you want me to do about it? Which I thought was extremely rude they did send us another portion of chips but when you’ve spent £32 on food they should treat the order and customer with a little respect food was 3/10 service was a 4/10 wouldn’t go there again and isn’t worth the money I would avoid this place

Delivery was good but chips were horrible tasted like they had been warmed up and rubbery not nice. Have had food from there before and was nice so very disappointed.

First time. Had Donna kebab meal. Which included drink and chips Cost was £6.50. I think was worth that. Will be here next time in Bedford.

Absolutely diabolical chips, so dry and shivered up, and the smallest portion I have ever seen!!! Go anywhere else for chips than here!!!!

Terrible! Delivery Driver was aggressive and screaming, then threw my food at me when I asked why food was 45mins late. Food was ice cold and items were missing. Phoned and was offered a "free order" which never came to fruition when attempted. Avoid! I now understand the bad reviews for this place....

Food was great, but delivery eta changed by 20 minute window and then it was a further 10 minutes after it was shown as being delivered to actually arriving, so I had to call them to check it was on way. Food was only luke warm and peas were cold. Will avoid on a Friday in future.

Fish was bit greasy, chips were very squashed and soggy and luke warm, would say it was small portion rather than medium, ordered a large mushy peas but portion was a little small also.

Everything was near enough cold, and the chips were dark brown / old. Burgers and sausages nice, would be better if they were hot though.

Ordered for a 6pm collection, but got a text at 5.45pm saying my order was ready!!! Collected at my 6pm time slot as this was when I could get to the shop and then of course the batter had all gone soggy on the fish and chips luke warm by the time we got it home to eat. I would please ask King Cod to look at requested collection times as the food is normally lovely and we eat from here regularly

I was put off this chip shop years ago, but decided to give them another try last week. I had their small fish chips and curry sauce. This was cooked perfectly, nice light batter on the fish chops golden brown. I will certainly be going back again.

I like king cod but the portions were a bit measly for the price (just under £18). Glad I bought a spam fritter to reach the free delivery cost otherwise I'd have still been hungry. Their kebabs are good though.

I've ordered from King Cod many times before, I like the vegan choices. We ordered to make things easier for ourselves that evening, and I pre-ordered earlier in the day, hoping this would guarantee the requested delivery time. We waited and waited and it didn't arrive so I phoned twice. I ordered for 5.45pm and it ended up arriving at 6.20pm. Longest 35 minutes of my life with 3 hungry young children! The staff is perfectly lovely though and it is normally on time so I will order again as I think it was probably a one off.

Popped in here for a quick chicken burger in here after a busy day. The young chap serving didn't seem to know what kind of chicken burgers they served (chicken fillet burger was the correct answer) he then mistook my negative answer for a positive one when he enquired if I wanted cheese on my chicken burger, however this misunderstanding was only realised when said burger was presented. Upon pointing out the very obvious cheese slice hanging out of the side of the burger, he claimed it didn't have cheese in dismissively until I made him look at it. I told him I wanted no cheese, he looked at the receipt and said I'd asked for cheese. I had not and never would. He then turned to blame the chef, who immediately apologised for the server's mistake. The food was average for the cost, very little taste in the somewhat overcooked chicken. I had heard good reviews of this place from friends however I regretfully have to say, I was less than impressed, by both the service and the quality of the food.

Live literally a 7 minute walk from this place got a tx to say it was on its way 30 mins later I called the shop to see if it had infact left when I got the tx they confirmed it had. Another 15 mins later food arrived stone cold soggy damp chips, pale cold pie, my food had been out for 45 mins for less than a 3 minute drive away. Driver blamed the shop. Shop offered a false refund and just eat doesn’t refund for freezing cold well traveled food another 15 quid wasted on incompetent people/places

The food was ok, although I wish the menu said that the fish has skin on, I would prefer the option to have it removed. Everything else was decent, and fairly well priced, but the fish was pretty disappointing, I’m actually not even sure I got cod like I ordered, it was very thin and more like haddock. The only other issue was the fact the app said collection time was 5.55, but we were driving past a fair bit earlier, around 5.30, so thought we’d go in and let them know we were there to see if they could do it any quicker. The meal was already bagged up ready for collection. So had we waited until 5.55 it would’ve been sat there for almost half an hour, which I don’t think is great.

Really fancied some chips..Oh they're just cooking.. Thought lovely and fresh took them away drove off and started to pick at the chips..i would say the worst ever they were warmed up from lunches leftovers. I ate 5 chips and threw them away. Never again will I set foot in there or recommend it to anyone. Couple of kids serving and cooking.
