I hired STB for my wedding, thirteen guest ended up getting sick. Upon contacting STB they refused to admit any liability and basically laughed in my face. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Writing a bad review isn't how I wanted to deal with this, but as Shoot the bull have tried to justify their extremely poor service with less than acceptable excuses I feel people should know this. If your planning your wedding or special event and thinking about using Shoot the bull, Do not do it ! We paid Shoot the bull £5000 in total for canapés, wedding breakfast and street food for the evening. Credit where its due the canapés and street food was nice. But as far as the wedding breakfast goes it was shockingly bad. It was suppose to be a posh buffet but it looked like something thrown together for a little kids party. There was so little food selection on the top table, we had to swap food from 1 end to the other. The sandwiches were far from fresh and definitely not made that day. There was a big delay between all the food platters being brought out. The tacos were the most bland and tastless food we have ever tasted. The guests thought this was just the starter due to the small amount of food and a lot of the guests left the wedding and came back with McDonald's and takeaway. Shoot the bull has several excuses they think justify such shockingly poor service. 1 "The circumstances of having to serve your buffet to individual tables and the difficulties you had with the food options being delayed and limited on your top table and you and your top table guests having to pass various items to each other would never have been the case and it was due to government restrictions" 2 "The Tacos would have been freshy prepared and topped up on the buffet station, rather than been built all at the same time and served to your tables" 3 "The Sandwiches would have been displayed in trendy buffet crates" 4 "The staff costs were higher than forecasted due to serving post the football too" Being so upset and let down on our wedding day because Shoot the bull provided such a poor service is absolutely unacceptable. Since the wedding we have spoken to Shoot the bull and this is how they feel about the situation. "Whilst we of course remain extremely apologetic for the way you feel about the catering we feel £700 to be a fair reflection of this. The offer of a £700 refund has been calculated and agreed by senior management and the board of Directors. It is a full and final offer and non negotiable. It is deemed fair and has taken all aspects of the day into consideration" I was initially upset and embarrassed but their response has just made me angry and im also offended that they think £700 is a fair reflection on all of this. They state on their website "They can offer a quirky and unrestricted dining experience for any occasion from grand venues to marquees, they can set up at any location, all they need is a reliable power source" YET THEY CANT EVEN MAKE A FRESH SANDWICH !

(York) We frequent shoot the bull in hull quite regularly and we have always been impressed with the food. So we thought for a change we would go to York and ditch our usual York haunt of the Ivy, this was a bit of a mistake. I ordered the haddock scotch egg which whilst it was tasty, it was only just warm and the egg inside was cold. My partner ordered the wings to which he said they where nice. My main was the pork belly, again not hot barely just past warm to be honest, unfortunately I couldn’t eat it all as I’m 7 months pregnant and I get full up quite quickly. My partner had the steak which was meant to have a blue cheese sauce accompanying it, but it was peppercorn. After bringing this up with the waitress she swiftly returned with the same sauce and we where told “no it’s definitely blue cheese it’s just a funny colour” I hate blue cheese and tried it and it was definitely peppercorn 100% We also had a wait on drinks I’ve worked in the catering industry for the best part of all my working life and the Staff seemed lacklustre, forgetful, disinterested and unorganised on a night when it didn’t seem all that busy. It’s a real shame for us we’ll stick to the Ivy in York and Shoot The Bull in Hull

My previous review has been deleted - so here it is again - only briefer. I visited Shoot the Bull on Thursday the 21st. The Market had live music, good food and nice alcohol and on my friends recommendation I visited Shoot the Bull for a steak sandwich. Initially the, female, chef wasn’t there - something I didn’t mind - so I took a seat and waited 10 minutes. Upon going back to the stall I noticed that previous customers were giving numbers for their order, something I didn’t have, so enquired whether I needed it. The response I got was a short “what did you order?” I told her, her response was “it’s here.” Negativity radiated from her and for someone in a customer facing role her attitude left a lot to be desired. I can only imagine she’s been overworked and underpaid or she was born with a sizeable chip on her shoulder. Regardless, the food was banging and worth the money - it just would have gone down a lot smoother if I didn’t have to bite my tongue in the face of a persons thunderous attitude and unwelcoming personality.

Stopped for a pre-show coffee at the Hull Truck branch. Ordered an Americano. They served me a filter coffee without mentioning a word about it. I had eyes on the kids so wasn't watching and only found out because I could taste it and then heard him explaining to someone else they only had filter coffee today. I mean, the filter coffee was fine enough, its just I would have expected to be told before paying and starting my drink. Also ordered a hot chocolate, which was nice.

I chose the flat iron flatbread sandwich - everything from the meat, bun & toppings was an easy 12/10. The meat was cooked perfectly for someone who enjoys medium rare and the cut itself was fantastic. I certainly wasn’t expecting to enjoy a street food basket meal as much as I did this!

Popped into the market with my partners family. Two of us got poutine from shoot the bull. Overall, it felt like two different dishes, one was very much enjoyed and the other one seemed heavily salted to the point of being unpleasant. Basic flavours of rosemary and traditional gravy were there. I say this is probably a bad day, as they’d run out of forks and so I’m not sure how we would have eaten these without the help of the lovely people at Alessandro’s, and the person behind the counter seemed to be a tad frazzled and was on there own.

Having purchased a canned drink (not a mega-sale, I know), I returned the empty can to the counter - thinking along 're-cycling lines' and being eco-friendly etc. I was then told by the girl in a begrudging voice: "There are lots of bins around the market"!!! I knew full well there were 'lots of bins' around the market, but thought there was no harm in returning the item to where I had purchased it. She could have easily said "Thank you" and left it at that. I will not be going back there in a hurry....

Visited here within Hull Truck Theatre. The quality of the food was extremely poor. It was half price with a booking and still was not good value. Halloumi fries £4.50 for 6/7 fries. Chicken wings worked out at £1 each. The burger was no bigger than a child’s happy meal burger at McDonald’s. As for the fries they were just as bad in value and quality as the rest of the food. Call it street food if you wish and we’ve eaten street food many times of far superior quality than this over hyped eatery. When visiting the theatre again of which we will do, we will be spending our money elsewhere first.

Limited menu with 1 main course not available (the one that looked the most appetising). Size of hamburger very small and looked like a child's portion but at adult prices, Halloumi fries very tasty but only 8 in number and small fries size. Asked for wings with BBQ sauce on side but arrived smothered in sauce and no willingness to replace order. Sausage and mash was very tasty and good value. Admit street food is OK served in cardboard containers but please put napkin holders wipes on each table to cleanse fingers after eating wings. Server/bar attendant needs a course in customer relations and learn the customer is not an inconvenience.

We had booked a table at 6pm. When we arrived at the bar downstairs we were directed upstairs. I then approached the barman who made no eye contact except to point at a piece of paper saying there were only 2 beer choices. We were told to go to our table look at the menu and order at the bar (he said this 3 times). There was only one other table occupied. We sat down and made our selections and went to the bar to order. Two of us wanted the Belly pork flat bread (number one on a quite limited menu) . I was rudely told there weren't any left and to 'go away' and look at the menu again! We left and went to nandos where we had the best service. Rude, dismissive arrogant, avoid

Went here on Friday at lunchtime with my dad and husband. Dad & I had the veggie burger & my hubby had the 3 mixed sliders. Cannot express how much we enjoyed our meals. Everything tasted so fresh & flavoursome and was cooked to perfection. The complimentary homemade bread & butter before the meal was also delicious and the truffles at the end of the meal a nice touch. Service was excellent, handled by a lovely lady on the bar. Chef also came over to chat which was nice- he even let me in on his amazing coleslaw recipe. It’s just a shame there weren’t more people in there enjoying this lovely food. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning!
