Shish in Edinburgh, City of

Very slow process. Cooking, serving food, everything is slow. The food is very expensive this is be the most expensive food I have ate in my entire staying in Edinburgh and it’s not worth to be that expensive. All respect to the chefs. it took them to serve the food too long. Almost in total 3 hours, Approximately 45 minutes to get the main dish, 25 to get the deserts and 35 just to get tea. It’s really a shame doing this. I don’t really write comments no matter how good is the restaurant. But I feel that I have to for this one. 2 stars for the decoration and the place is tidy and calm. (Edit) I forgot to mention that the food tastes nice. But the price is very high.

The Best of Edinburgh’s restaurant

Heard a lot about Shish so finally got round to trying it out on the wife’s birthday as a treat . The food was outstanding , for starters we had grilled Haloumi & Hummus with an assortment of bread , olives and another dip . Mains were Fillet Mignon Steaks which were cooked to perfection and tasted so tender and soft , With grilled veg & Cajun chips which were great. Some of the other dishes coming out to surrounding tables also looked mouth watering . In hindsight maybe didn’t need the starters as the main meal was big . The atmosphere was great , busy as you would expect on a Saturday night and it felt special to be eating there . The staff were faultless ,polite , pleasant and attentive . Together with what I felt was very reasonable regards price for the quality of food . A very enjoyable evening , a lovely meal and don’t forget the great choice of “ Mocktails” Will definitely be back , and highly recommend . Well done to all at Shish. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The restaurant is very excellent and its dishes are delicious, but I would like to point out the point of reviewing the bill, as they increase this category and make you charge for it.

I love the 2/4/6 portion of mixed grill platter. The selection is so well thought out, and every single meat is absolutely delicious. There’s nothing that falls short, and I really enjoyed the variety. I’ll definitely order it again next time.

Food was averagely good. I’ve been to their restaurant in London, which is absolutely amazing. The one in Edinburgh needs to work. we did go on a Sunday but I expected that to be more than one waitress working. My food was put on the table and had to wait a further 15 minutes to receive the drinks by that time the food was almost gone disappointing

Less than average, what I hate the most was the service, not welcoming at all! when we came, the waiter asked if we have reservation while the restaurant was almost empty! Then after seated the service was super slow! it was only one waiter for three table! Just imagine when we asked for wet napkins it takes so long! And we keep asking 4 times! We asked for forks which we never received! The rice was too bad it was actually like sticky plain rice! It was quiet when we visited but it was the middle of the week and lunchtime. This place is probably busy during the evening based on the the decor. They had a specific lunch menu, which we ordered from and it was very good value for money. The staff member that looked after us was friendly and helpful. And also very patient.

The food looks really good but it was very disappointing. My chicken Tavuk Beyti has small pieces of bones in it although it was advertised as boneless and I was struggling to eat my meal. My chicken also tasted weird almost like badly cooked lamb. My friend got the Tire Kofte and she also had bones in her food!! Honestly a really underwhelming expensive meal for low to medium quality. On the plus side the restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is nice.

Shish is a very good restaurant👌 everything we had on the table was top-notch 🥰🥰 I will visit there over and over again. We were attended to by a very professional waiter named Vera, very nice and a polite lady. Being our first time, she attended to us patiently.

I visited the place through my search on social media. It wasn't crowded. We ordered chicken and meat kebab for two people with rice and potatoes. One time, it was less than normal. I felt that the potatoes were not fresh and the meat was not tender. Hummus with meat was good. I loved the bread. It tasted bitter and fresh. Kunafa is sweet and delicious. The bathrooms are not clean even though they are new. Management should pay attention. I expect visitors to be rude and irresponsible, and they are part of the problem.

If you like good food, try the steaks at shish!

A very good Halal Turkish restauraunt close to the city centre. Worth trying and has amazing decor. Great service. Even offered free turkish tea at the end.

The complimentary bread was slightly crispy but abit too tough, paste was tomato-ey and interesting Lamb chop was very tender, although not the most flavourful and lacking any sort of crisp. Can't get used to the couscous tho, it's abit hard. Sauce sucks. The portion feeds more than 1, this fed two of us nicely alongside the lahmacun The lahmacun is basically a pizza lol. Very mild topping, super crispy but only for less than 30sec Overall it's a pretty decent place, esp if you don't over order (definitely don't get a main each)

Seriously, serving all those meals with alcohol free drinks in middle of Edinburgh? Edit: the drink menu is full of items like cocktails, red wine, lager and beers. This is a misinformation. If you are serving nonalcoholic beverages it should be mentioned clearly otherwise it’s just a trick. Also it’s called mocktail, not cocktail if it’s zero alcohol.

I asked him for hummus with meat. To be honest, it was delicious, but the quantity was very small. This is the first time I saw the quantity served with hummus. I asked him for a meat pie. It was good. I asked him for Adana kebab. May God honor the blessing. I was reading the comment. The meat was not cooked and I did not understand. I am surprised. How is the kebab not cooked? The problem came out. What is the cooking problem? The meat itself means that if it is sheep, we can say “Umrah Sudais” at the very least. As for cows, the meat will not eat until it dies.

The food was good, but it must be stressed visibly for all customers to see clearly that it is an ALCOHOL FREE restaurants. Many Moslem owned restaurants that I've been to before do not serve alcohol themselves, but do permit customers to bring their own wine and charge a small fee for corkage. In this way, proprietors don't have to profit from the sale of alcohol (which is against their religion, as it would be for Mormons, Salvation Army etc), but can show respect towards others' customs and traditions whilst not committing the sin of imbibing or profiting from the imbibing of alcoholic beverages by others.

Amazing food. Mixed grill tasted really good 👍 But what stood out for me is the service. Muneeb and the other waiter (forgot his name) were very polite, quick and catered to our needs. Would highly recommend this place

Don’t order the steak. I requested a medium rare steak only to receive it on a sizzler plate. So not only was I covered in oil splatter from the sizzling steak but the meat was well done by the time I came to eat it. Spoke to the waitress and she simply told me this was how it is served and I should have ordered a rare steak. Basically, restaurant might be nice but they’re not a place to go for a good steak.

Shish offers quality food with HUGE portions. Seriously, either go here really hungry or share plates among several people. Literally, they can barely fit the food on the tables! Only negative for us was that the restaurant was quite noisy. But one of our party has hearing issues - so we are far more sensitive to noise than most.

Excellent Turkish restaurant. Welcoming atmosphere with wonderful food. We were on a short visit to the city but went here twice because the food was so tasty. Each dish we tried was delicious and beautifully cooked. Fancy halal restaurant. Family friendly. We've tried it one day after we've had our dinner at next-door halal restaurant (one of the oldest in Edinburgh). Shish is the best in food, service, atmosphere, and the cost, as well. Highly recommended. . I think you can have your birthday party there, as well.

I tasted Wagyu Rib eye. meat was chopped. and served with too much butter. The meat was soft but too much butter was used. The mixed meze platter was delicious. Lahmacun is very successful.

We had dinner here with our family and friends. Absolutely stunning deco. The staff are very polite, service was quick. Hot and perfectly cooked food. The mezze was full of flavour, compared to the usual bland mezze we've had at other restaurans, so surprised. The walnut paste they had, never had it before. Very tasty. The mains were perfectly cooked. Portion size was generous. The dessert was delicious, don't usually order kanafeh due to it being too greasy and far too sweet. Milk cake was the same, not too sweet and great portion. Baklava was very tasty, not too sweet, not soggy. This was the most delicious kanafeh if had. (A must!!!) The bathroom were so clean. Very comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food - such gorgeous flavours. First we shared the dips and pita - 👌🏻! We also had the shish kebab - cooked to perfection and so tasty. I had the alcohol free Pina colada and it was like pudding in a glass. Wow!

Came here for a birthday meal and the decor is nice but the layout for seating is too cramped and rocky tables. It felt uncomfortable to sit and eat because of servers/diners walking past the tables and our table - as there’s no formal path to the seating. Because of how cramped the tables are as well it will feel like you’re dining with strangers, someone was sat next to our table facing away from us but their hair was almost on our table. Did ask to move to another table but the only other availability would have been infront of the kitchen which is also a busy footpath. Maybe better for large groups but not for couples. The cups also smell bad and the food is pretty average, not an authentic Turkish restaurant. Would recommend Ada instead.

For being here the first time, I would like to say the following. The food quality here is excellent. It is delicious. The presentation and portions are satisfactory. the service is top-notch. I was here for a wedding meal, and the staff did exceptionally well. They were very attentive and polite with professional mannerisms. The atmosphere is pleasant both in decor and layout. Also the place is very clean, so good hygiene maintenance. The only thing I wasn't too pleased about was the main inner door being kept open, leading to a strong cold draft, forcing some of us to put on our cardigans, etc. But once brought to their attention, it was resolved. So a non issue. Honestly, I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely come back again.
