Nightcap in Edinburgh, City of

Quickly became my regular spot and only in town for a little over a week. The bar staff was amazing. Came for the beer, came back for the staff, and...have to see the toilets! That made its own FB post! Love this little bar!

Staff are completely unprofessional. Guy that served seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else and woman behind the bar talked about how their mocktails are 'overpriced for what you get'. They also put a Service charge on which I only realised after. As the place is so dark, I didn't notice it and definitely would have not paid it. We drank up as quickly as possible to get out of there. Wouldn't recommend and won't be back.

Cute and cozy cocktail bar with a creative menu and very friendly staff. We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us a bunch of great recommendations for dining and drinking throughout Edinburgh.

When we stayed in Edinburgh our apartment was across the street so we dropped in for a night cap each night. Cocktails on the menu are very nice but quite strong, staff are great and will make anything you would like as long as they have the ingredients.

0 zero star review and embarrassing bouncers. They told us to walk away (didn’t give us an eta of when we cough come in!) as we would have waited for a table! Terrible management as 2x bars recommend this place. Don’t listen to them and go home

A new menu has thrown off the service of this cocktail bar, and, while the cocktails were both unique and delicious, the waiter was without either a menu or the certainty of what they were serving. £26.40 for 2 cocktails for reference.

This has to be my first ‘negative’ review, but I would have to share the racism from the workers at the door at this place is absolutely disgusting, no wonder this place was empty on a Friday night! Very disappointing - I wouldn’t waist your time here!!!

Wonderful staff! I can't big this place up enough. Especially our server Rishi, that man had us covered from first drink to last, honestly a must if you're prone to a cheeky cocktail. If you're lucky enough to get in here know you're in the precence of people who genuinely care about giving you a great time. No1 reason we're returning to Edinburgh.

I can't recommend this place enough! If you're looking for a relaxed, personable cocktail bar this is the place. Rishi (our server) was amazing and attentive, amazing drinks, great atmosphere and even better staff. Come here, its a must!

The drinks tasted ok, although I’d say a bit over priced for what they are. They ran out of soda, which is interesting for a bar early evening on a Friday night. We also had a ‘cocktail’ with a massive ice cube and very little liquid actually inside. It was full when it arrived but when we lifted the ice cube this is what was left… For £12 this seems pretty steep…. (Note this was before anything had been drank).

Me and two of my friends asked for a table or seat for three people, we were told by staff member they are full. Thankfully a customer didn’t mind moving from a table to allow us to sit down, what really was unprofessional from the staff member after this is she suddenly found a table for 4 people after we sat down which was clear they knew the customers hence why they tried to accommodate them. The cocktails were good , however I am mainly concentrating on the service and staff attitude towards us as we weren’t bar industry. I felt the bar industry in night cap , get priority over customers. Which is fine if this is the way you want to run your business , I will no longer visit this bar after this experience.

I drank two of their cocktail offerings and thy are marvelous. The flavors and aromas are brilliantly infused together. Be warned, they’re a bit on the sweeter side - think lemonade.

Only interacted with two staff but they were rude. Definitely not a warm and welcoming establishment. Wouldn't return.

Visit 12/8: I have lived in Edinburgh 10 years, frequenting bars and the the social events Edinburgh has to offer throughout my time here. Today, for the first time, I felt ‘judged’ and/or experienced negative service due to my ‘look’, obviously failed to live up to the aesthetic of the bar. It’s Friday evening, I’m taking a late bus from the coach station and want a glass of wine, I choose the night cap as it’s close. I walk in, reasonably presented, although wearing casual clothing with trainers, obvs to travel, I’m met at the door with there’s no capacity, I look around and can see that there clearly is. There’s a few stools free, and I explain, I’m just popping in for a drink before my bus, and challenged that there’s no space for me to enjoy a glass of wine. I’m then told that I can sit on the cold stone step outside… really?! I then pointed to an empty bar space with stool available, and said that I can sit there, was told yes, I suppose you can… then served my wine with no sense of hospitality at all. I must say, I felt terribly uncomfortable, no effort was made at all to even check if an individual space was available for me, and to be told to sit on a stone cold step, just made me feel less than. Anyhoo… not a great experience, maybe not their intention to make me feel bad about myself, but the interaction and experience did. I won’t be back, and will be relaying my experience to anyone who asks me for recommendations, and many do.

This bar was a find! We visited with my boyfriend a few days ago and loved the whole experience. The drinks were AMAZING! And the service was even better!! Which says a lot :) I would 100% recommend coming here for a drink (or more!). You will have a great time!

This is the place to be late at night, especially on a date! Found it randomly with my girlfriend the night we arrived in Edinburgh. We were looking for a cocktail to start our vacation but when we entered we did not expect to find a hidden gem! The atmosphere is very chill with low light and the staff are extremely friendly and eager to help by proposing cocktails to try. Finally the actual cocktails are easily in the best we've ever tried! We ordered four rounds!

Best Drinks in Edinburgh. We've visited a lot Cocktailbars here, this was our favorite. All Drinks are unique, well balanced & interesting.

Lovely little bar with very nice staff and amazing drinks. We sat here for about an hour tucked away in a corner just enjoying our drinks on a couch which was just what we were looking for after a day of strolling around Edinburgh.

Visited Nightcap for the first time last night after wanting to go for a while and absolutely loved it. The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was cosy but chic. I didn’t catch the staff members name, but she was incredibly helpful with choosing our drinks and very nice to us. Will definitely be back! :)

Rude door staff and communication over the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. We used to go to this bar a lot and it was always fun there so this was a surprising disappointment. I hope they get their act together soon.

Amabilité à revoir concernant la serveuse qui refuse catégoriquement que l’on s’assoie toutes ensemble (groupe de 7 personnes avec réservation au fond de la salle sans passage) On ne peut pas bouger les chaises d’une table à l’autre pour pouvoir discuter. La serveuse est hautaine et ne fait aucun effort de compréhension et parle super vite ! Vient le moment du paiement : impossible de payer chacun sa consommation, il faut payer soit toutes ensemble soit par « items » ! 2 personnes du groupe avaient pris des cocktails, elles n’ont pas pu payer séparément !! Une honte !

Had a fabulous time at this intimate bar in the heart of Edinburgh. Cocktails were fantastic, Chloe who works at nightcap was such a legend, she was super helpful and because of her we had the best night here! Highly reccomended!!!

This place is AMAZING! I booked a table for a girls night, and I could only book for an hour. I asked that if a table became available so that we could stay longer, please could they extend our booking and they did. Chloe is the best! And she looked after us all night, gave us really good advice on what cocktails we would like, and was an wonderful human to talk to. Myself and my friends have all said we would recommend to everyone, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

I will be back here everytime I am in Edinburgh, quite possibly the best cocktails and service I’ve ever had. Staff were very accommodating and the water is a nice way to keep hydrated whilst sipping on a delicious cocktail. A must visit if you’re in Edinburgh!

Went in for a one last drink before going home and it was the best decision. The drinks were amazing and the service was even better. Chloe and the rest of the staff were the most welcoming we have had in our time in Edinburgh and I would recommend this bar to anyone!

Usually a good night but staff were awful last night, had one member violently pushing my back, barging me through a corridor full of people who couldn’t move because it was full, wasn’t happy when I asked her to stop so told the bouncer I punched her and got me removed. Luckily they realised that wasn’t the case and let me back in. Staff need to come off their high horse and treat customers with respect. Won’t be back for a while, and hope the member of staff gets pulled up on this.

Visiting from Ireland and called in for a drink , was greeted with the warmest welcome from Weronika at the door and was looked after all night with amazing service with a constant water refill and drink order once our drinks were finished. I have a coconut and nut allergy and Chloe looked after me with cocktail recommendations that didn’t contain my allergen. Both girls and all staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The actually place is very vibey and perfect for any occasion! Overall a great experience and will definitely return to nightcap when visiting Edinburgh!

Was celebrating a friend's birthday last night and the friend and I decided to go to this bar at the end of the night. Saw the reviews and thought we should try it out. Whoever the woman behind the bar is, she has no business being in hospitality. She's one of the rudest humans I have ever encountered, and she singlehandedly messed up the end of the night for us. We asked for when last call for drinks was, and were told it was shortly before 3am. By 2:38, the waitress came to take our orders. The drinks had not even arrived at the table for 3 seconds when the bouncer came and told us we need to hurry up and leave. We ended up almost chugging our drinks. He came back about three times! At the third time, I told him the beer I had was very little and as soon as it was finished, we would leave. Finished the drinks and were ready to leave by 3. I turned around to ask the guy if we could wait at the front just for the taxi, and before he could respond, this rude, aggressive woman behind the bar jumped in and began shouting at me that I had been rude! I was never rude to anyone there! They, on the other hand kept hassling us just after bringing drinks. Why take people's money so late if you want to chase them out immediately? This woman began shouting and asking that I leave her venue! I asked the bouncer if I was rude to him and he wouldn't answer because he knew I was not! This is honestly the worst bar I have been in in Edinburgh. It's a shame because the drinks were a bit decent, though the taste was off in some cocktails and there is almost no beer variety, but the woman behind the bar is a nasty horrid person and is ruining whatever they are trying to build there. If she's the owner, then she need not worry. With that attitude and the level of cocktails she made, her bar will be gone in no time.

Second time I’ve been here in past week of being in Edinburgh. Honestly the woman behind the bar is the rudest person I have ever met. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy whilst she works there. Such a shame as it’s a lovely place… just has rotten staff. Had hoped she wouldn’t be on duty the second time. But sadly was… she doesn’t have a clue how to make a basic drink such as a dark n stormy… darling, a dark n stormy has to have a shot of dark rum. But when you are shouted at for approaching the bar to explain… how on earth can you give positive feedback???

Absolute legends, easily the best Negroni I’ve ever had. Fantastic staff, really friendly and just nice and easy to chat with. Stay groovy guys.

Nice ambiance. Tiny cocktails, one was just a glorified blueberry juice with hardly any alcohol in it. Poor service and 10% mandatory service charge. Disappointing.

Can't thank Chloe and Stefan enough for their incredible hosting and mixing skills. They were both very welcoming and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this place for a lovely end to the evening. Lighting is kind to the retina and the drinks definitely pack a punch.

The ladies in our group especially loved this place. Super friendly and personal staff. Great atmosphere but a little tight size wise as is typical of older pubs. Great variety of drinks with personal touches. Recommended. We loved it so much we went back the following night. It's the only place we visited twice on this trip.

Personal favourite late night tipple and one of the few bars in Edinburgh that open till 3am. Really good, balanced, punchy cocktails. Super cosy place. One of my favourite bloody Marys. (Please bring back the chicken wings and kimchi pickleback!)

Amazing cocktail place! Not too loud like some other bars we've tried, really cozy in terms of atmosphere and really friendly folks working there. We tried the two gin-based cocktails from the menu and both were top notch - tasty, well balanced and creative. Highly recommended place!!

Smashing wee bar with excellent cocktails. We went in after a show at the Playhouse and had booked a table thankfully as it’s really small and busy. The South Coast cocktail is not my usual type of drink but I have to say it was outstanding.
