This is a Proper pub. Very well managed, clean and easy going. The couple that run it clearly take pride of it. Very fairly priced, comfortable country side vibe feeling pub thats always a laugh. entering the pub always makes you feel like you have gone back in time as it has real originality and is not a try hard bar which is a rare find these days

I have used this place for many years. It is a traditional pub filled with naval bric-a-brac, and often crammed. It can be noisy then. The staff are shall we say, old school, the place is crammed with character, just on the edge of a village shopping centre, and not far from either the station of the cricket green. Its limited wine list meets most pub food requirements, whilst it specialises in better local draft bitters and premium ciders. I am an Addlestones addict, (cloudy, with bits, slightly sparking, and REAL apple flavour) and also like some of the others. Food is served in generous proportions and represents excellent value. There is a fixed menu and a daily specials board led by what the local farmers and fishermen have provided, and this often yields gems. For those who want to sample what a small family run pub has been for the last xx years, this is the place to visit!

I was super excited after reading all the good reviews... and everything was lovely but when the food arrived, my heart sank. It wasn’t awful but it was average. The arancinis were over-cooked and bland, the chicken was dry and tasteless, the lasagne only tasted of tomato. Such a shame. That said, it’s a really cosy and romantic atmosphere and the waiter was brilliant. The wine was nice. And it’s not expensive so we still had a lovely evening. I just wouldn’t go back when there are so many excellent restaurants in brighton.

Hi. A very nice little pub servicing the local area. I visited this pub for 15 minutes when I missed a train and didn't want to have to wait on Southwick train platform for 20 minutes in the chilled October evening air. This pub is 2 minutes up the road from the station. Just turn left out the station and it's literally 200 yards away within eyeshot. Easy to get to. I stopped in there for a quick pint of Diet Coke and a couple of packets of crisps before quickly jogging back to the station. A nice little pub and very friendly swift service! 👍

2nd visit to this pub in 8 months both at the weekends. Can't fault the prices as most are very cheap. However its the worse real ale I have tried in years. Beers available included dark stars hophead which is my chosen tipple if its on at any pub so I know it well. So how the ship manages to ruin this beer beats me but if I was dark star I would be asking questions.

Great friendly staff, nice fresh beer, ok location you can see the white cliffs of Dover (inside joke). Locals are a little weird, was here on a business stay over and they were very friendly welcoming even the girl who believed in Euthanasia and her love of Joe Biden!. They allow dogs and a great place to spend an evening away from the North!

I went here yesterday for a sneaky battered sausage and chips, it was the best I've ever had! Chips were done to perfection, the battered sausage to perfection and the portion size was spot on! Plus the two guys in there were friendly! I highly recommend this place and will go there again and again I'm sure 😋
