We stopped off with our small baby and dog. We didn't have a booking. They were so accommodating and gave us a great table with ample room. The service was great, staff were lovely. We ate from the specials and the food was gorgeous and generous. Wish we lived in the county as we would definitely go back regularly.

I can highly recommend the Ship - we held our Uncles wake there just a week ago. Lindesay was incredibly helpful both in advance and during the event, and replied to all our emails promptly to organise details - I must add all the staff on the day were also brilliant. The food was delicious - so good to have warm quiche and sausage rolls as well as warm veggie options and a wide range of sandwiches . Everything ran very smoothly and the lovely pub created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Thank you!

Celebrated my wife’s birthday at The Ship on 1st November, she is coeliac so as ever there is the trepidation around food options and safe-to-eat challenge. Also took my 94yr old dad - he loves his food. As always the team at The Ship delivered, my wife hugely enjoyed her Beef Brisket and Apple & Pear cinnamon crumble and my dad devoured his seafood salad with gusto and had the same crumble. I had a delicious Scotch Egg followed by the Proctor Sausage & Colcannon mash - truly delicious. Great food, fantastic company all in a lovely pub in wonderful settings. Thank you all at The Ship. Nice meal. Friendly staff. Quiet location. Good for a weekday meal, when you don't fancy cooking from scratch at home. Nice Wagu burger, pity chips were not homemade. Nice to see that the Ship sells Wild Wave cider, made a pleasant change from Aspalls acidic cider, available at several other locations. Would recommend, when you can't be bothered to cook at home!

A great country pub in a village setting with views over the river Stour. Plenty of outdoor seating in a sunny position. Food is good and fairly priced with a great loyalty scheme. Poor value, it was £11 for a prawn sandwich. It seemed expensive when I ordered but I guess I was hoping to be surprised. I was, but not in a good way. 2 slices of 1” thick granary bread with a very meagre amount of prawns inside. Some lettuce leaves were left on the side of the plate to make it look less sparse. It didn't work, it just have me the additional task of inserting the leaves into the sandwich by hand. Wish I'd taken a photo of it. It was very very disappointing. Guy say next tonne was having the steak. I asked him how it was and he shrugged and said ok, but expensive. Clearly they are trading on the location and it is a real shame they can't provide better value.

Excellent food, OK service, nice atmosphere. We booked for 12.30 and were told we could only have the table for two hours. We were served drinks and then waited an hour for the food. Beautiful little village pub. Unfortunately the tables were packed so tightly we had to move chairs and tables to be able to sit down. The staff were lovely and service was quick. My starter was good but my main course was a huge disappointment, slow cooked lamb, mash and veg. The mash was dry and lumpy and the lamb was just microwaved slices which were like eating cardboard, won’t be going back.

I heard good things about The Ship at Levington and I was looking forward to going. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had booked. It was very, VERY busy. The table was not ready when we arrived as previous customers hadn't finished. Bought drinks and waited about 15 mins outside as it was packed. Staff were friendly, helpful and apologetic about the wait but service was very slow, took an age for our order to be taken and again a long wait before food arrived, probably due to how popular this restaurant is (and was on the day) had reservations about ordering dessert, coffee came quickly, food a lot longer, so it seems bar service was efficient whereas kitchen less so. Food was good, service was good from the team it was only the waiting that let my score down. I appreciate it that on a Sunday(or any other time TBH) you don't want to be rushed in and back out again, but service was too slow and that was the lasting impression.

If you want smashed avocado on sourdough with pea shoots and other unnecessary greenery then this cafe is not for you. But if you want the best quality full English, fresh unfussy honestly presented British and local food then you’re in the right place. Always a warm welcome, seriously tasty local food, simply cooked and unpretentiously presented. Today’s special were some seriously big juicy scallops which I had with my full English and they were an inspired combination and very popular. Thanks Sean for another outstanding breakfast. Keeping consistent standards like this is a real labour of love but it shines through in the food. Lovely breakfast and not an avocado in sight. PS a ‘greasy spoon’ this is not!
