The food was really nice and filling, just needed a few more veggies. The staff took our drink and food order at the table quickly initially. However, we had to go to the bar to order our second set of drinks and the bar girl was on her phone and didn't want to be bothered. She finished what she was doing on her phone and reluctantly served us. The pub was really quiet at this time, so the staff had little to do. When we had finished our main course we wanted to order desserts and drinks but although our table was easily seen from the quiet bar area, we waited ages and no one came to clear our plates or ask if we'd like anything else. So we just went up and paid, they missed out on us ordering more food and left us feeling disgruntled.

Unfortunately our experience wasn’t good. Staff very friendly and professional when given attention. Seated at our table with the menus waitress saying she will return in 5 minutes later with our order. 25 minutes later another waitress came and to the table to take our order …we were lucky another couple who was seated five minutes after us had to wave to someone to get any attention they waited 40 minutes. When the food arrived Roast Beef Meal very disappointing for the price. Roast potatoes were hard no crispy outside with soft centres, the kind of frozen type. Parsnips rock hard, gravy slopped all over the plate (I would rather put my own gravy on) where I choose. Snap peas and carrots fine, but the best thing was the horseradish sauce which probably came from a jar. My son had a burger and a portion of frozen chips whilst he enjoyed the burger could this really warrant £19. Because of the poor service and lack of attention it just emphasised the mediocre meal. Desserts were thankfully good. I still left a tip but it unfortunately probably went to the waitress who seated us, who never attended to us again, but was happy to clear the table and bring us the bill. Maybe we just came on the wrong day at the wrong time and at 2pm staff decided to go for a break. Pub was busy but not too busy for a 2pm lunch.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Ship on New Year’s Eve. The gluten free options were very impressive; I was able to order a Scotch egg to start followed by a burger with gluten free bun. I wouldn’t have known the difference. My wife had the goat’s cheese to start and the treacle glazed gammon as a main. Everything was delicious and generously portioned, especially the chips. There was also a good range of alcohol-free beer and gin on offer.

Great pub with an amazing atmosphere. The staff is great! The menu has options for those who are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc. I didn't think it would be so busy because it is in a small village so I would advise to call it 1st to reserve a table!! Fish & chips (gluten-free & dairy free option)

I can highly recommend the Ship - we held our Uncles wake there just a week ago. Lindesay was incredibly helpful both in advance and during the event, and replied to all our emails promptly to organise details - I must add all the staff on the day were also brilliant. The food was delicious - so good to have warm quiche and sausage rolls as well as warm veggie options and a wide range of sandwiches . Everything ran very smoothly and the lovely pub created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. Thank you!

Celebrated my wife’s birthday at The Ship on 1st November, she is coeliac so as ever there is the trepidation around food options and safe-to-eat challenge. Also took my 94yr old dad - he loves his food. As always the team at The Ship delivered, my wife hugely enjoyed her Beef Brisket and Apple & Pear cinnamon crumble and my dad devoured his seafood salad with gusto and had the same crumble. I had a delicious Scotch Egg followed by the Proctor Sausage & Colcannon mash - truly delicious. Great food, fantastic company all in a lovely pub in wonderful settings. Thank you all at The Ship. Poor value, it was £11 for a prawn sandwich. It seemed expensive when I ordered but I guess I was hoping to be surprised. I was, but not in a good way. 2 slices of 1” thick granary bread with a very meagre amount of prawns inside. Some lettuce leaves were left on the side of the plate to make it look less sparse. It didn't work, it just have me the additional task of inserting the leaves into the sandwich by hand. Wish I'd taken a photo of it. It was very very disappointing. Guy say next tonne was having the steak. I asked him how it was and he shrugged and said ok, but expensive. Clearly they are trading on the location and it is a real shame they can't provide better value.

I heard good things about The Ship at Levington and I was looking forward to going. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had booked. It was very, VERY busy. The table was not ready when we arrived as previous customers hadn't finished. Bought drinks and waited about 15 mins outside as it was packed. Staff were friendly, helpful and apologetic about the wait but service was very slow, took an age for our order to be taken and again a long wait before food arrived, probably due to how popular this restaurant is (and was on the day) had reservations about ordering dessert, coffee came quickly, food a lot longer, so it seems bar service was efficient whereas kitchen less so. Food was good, service was good from the team it was only the waiting that let my score down. I appreciate it that on a Sunday(or any other time TBH) you don't want to be rushed in and back out again, but service was too slow and that was the lasting impression.

We just loved this place, and had dinner there twice during our trip to the Suffolk coast. Perfect on a chilly evening, with a roaring fire and a wonderfully warm welcome. Excellent negroni and a well-curated wine list. The food was very good, particularly the venison casserole, beetroot salad, pea and ham soup and sausages. Super dog friendly too. Our pup was treated like a celebrity! We'll be back whenever we're in the area again.
