Unfortunately did we visit the Ship Inn not until the evening before we left the Pwllheli area to head back to Germany. The innkeeper and the staff made us immediately feel welcome, and they were really friendly and answered all our questions patiently. The menu is comparably extensive with a variety of really great dishes. For the first time in two weeks (!), all of us - even the children - were really happy with their choice of starters and the main courses. Our compliments to the chef! If it weren''t for a 16 hour trip, we would definitely come back again. Thank you! UPDATE: After three weeks in Wales, my family voted (almost unanimously) the Ship Inn to have served the best food of all pubs we visited during our stay. Sounds great, doesn't it?

Beautiful pub. The food was incredible, even my fussy eater son said it was the best pub dinner he ever had and ate everything. Owner was super friendly and very welcoming. Amazing place to go and will definitely be returning on our next holiday.

Loved this pub! Walking from your car you walk towards a very well kept and inviting beer garden with ample seating and wooden gazebos. There is a children's play area in the bottom corner and surprisingly a hot food snack van!! Then as you walk through the front door you are greeted with a selection of board games and quizzes to choose from! There is a great selection of drinks available and the food was fantastic (quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had!), all at reasonable prices! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all a great little pub!

We visited The Ship Inn twice during our holiday in Llanbedrog. We were warmly welcomed both times and the service was excellent - very friendly and chatty staff with a relaxed atmosphere. They provided table top games for the family to play while waiting for food - this was an amazing bonus and the kids loved it as much as we did! The food was outstanding, cooked beautifully with large portion sizes. Thank you to the whole team!

Following an extended and damp walk, we visited the establishment with the intention of partaking in tea, only to discover that they were fully booked, which is understandable. Given the location and time of year, I should have anticipated this outcome. However, our bedraggled appearance, akin to that of "drowned rats," elicited sympathy, and a table was graciously made available to us. The subsequent food and service were exceptional. We savored the minted lamb burger, which undoubtedly ranks as the finest lamb burger I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. I express my sincere gratitude for the hospitality extended to us, which was greatly appreciated. In the future, we shall ensure to make advance reservations to avoid any inconvenience.

Incredible food. Service can be a bit slow but I think this is because the kitchen is small and they want to avoid it being overwhelmed. Book in advance- there are only a few tables inside and they get booked up. If it's full, there is also 'the ship's cabin' outside which serves excellent loaded fries (with sausages, pie filling, scampi and more). We went nearly every day during our short stay in Llanbedrog.

Lovely sourdough, butter and relish appetiser to keep us going through the menu and all courses were delicious. And dog friendly throughout. Turned up like total lemons on Sat eve in peak season with no reservations and obvs they were totally full, but owner was surprisingly remorseful that we couldn’t get fed and along with other staff kindly helped us find food elsewhere and so we booked there and then to come back Monday. Enjoyed an enormous and very tasty pizza plus a good steak and a veggie dish. Great place and will probs be back again later this week. Ignore the negative reviews, prices are reasonable for food and drink and owner is working crazy hard but still friendly and welcoming. Just make sure you book coz it’s crazy popular and fully booked every night.

Very accommodating when we arrived bedraggled from the rain with two wet children after the half hour walk up from the beach. Also, I must mention the games. This was extremely reassuring to me that this pub was prepared for gluten free. The food was great the gluten free fish and chis was amazing and great portion. The sunday 3 meat roast in an 8" Yorkshire pudding was also delicious, and it was a very kid Friendly spot. It seems like a nice quiet pub in Llanbedrog just on the edge of the countryside as you are coming out of the village. They had a good selection of ales and beers. Unfortunately they weren't doing food whilst I was there, so will have to come back to try it out. They have a large well equipped beer garden that's a bit of a suntrap and a nice place to spend an afternoon with a nice view of the countryside. Came back to try the food out. Ordered the Chicken burger and sausage chips and peas. We had to wait a while, but the manager explained the staff problems they were having and I must admit he had excellent customer service skills so didn't mind the wait. Firstly, because nobody reads whole reviews, make sure you call in or contact for a reservation as a lot of the tables were booked (along with ours) when we went which shows you how popular this place is despite being a good few miles from anywhere. Came here with my in-laws, wife and two children for an evening meal. Firstly when coming to take our order the owner (I think) went to get some more toys for our 1 year old, then when we tried to order a kids meal for him he told us he would sort him a pasta dish as the children's meals are huge (an ongoing issue for parents I'm sure they'll agree!). Our daughter loved the colouring and even "beat me" in a round of dominos. Between courses she loved mastering the mini playground and was an expert before we left! All the food we ordered was excellent, our daughter loved her Sausage, Chips and Beans and the ice cream. For myself I ordered the Katsu Curry, and something I wouldn't normally do with Katsu, mix of Chips and Rice. The curry itself was excellent and the fried chicken was better than anything I've ever managed myself with breast! Would definitely recommend it. For dessert I got the Waffle with Ice Cream. Normally I'm not a dessert person, but the toffee sauce made this for me. It all just worked. On the cask beer side you have 3 Carlsberg Marston cask from their range, the one I had was kept well. Very glad we booked and would definitely come again, very attentive host thinking about our youngest when many places would have just let us pay over the odds for a full children's meal.

Sorry but we weren't impressed. Just wanted a quiet early evening drink but the whole pub is set up for eating (except a small area in front of the bar) . Weren't allowed to sit at the bar for health and safety reasons (blocking the route from the kitchen) so back bar was the only alternative (but no drinks served from there). If we had been a darts team that would have been fine but no effort to set up this area for a comfortable 30 mins drink. Beer was ok though! Thanks for your detailed response to our feedback. Maybe some attention to the back bar will make it a more welcoming and decent overflow space for socialising. We wish you well with your new venture.

We (2 adults and 3 children) came here without booking, hoping they would have space, and how luck we were that they did! We were asked to choose our own table, and each was labelled with the time for which it had been booked, so we chose one that was free for a few hours. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but we managed to choose and played some of the card/board games provided while we waited. When the food arrived we were not disappointed; it exceeded expectations! The children's menu options were great, and our "tween" who is on the cusp of managing adult portions was not hungry after finishing, but equally none of us were uncomfortably full. The portions were just right. Pudding was likewise delicious and the staff members were apologetic when one of our choices was unavailable. We all agreed that it was a very happy chance that led is to this pub, and we will certainly try to return and will recommend it to anyone who will listen!

Don't tend to give bad reviews as I always check the feedback from previous guests so to our surprise the food was shocking although the hosts were very nice. Starting with the mussels with the white wine sauce from the "specials" menu, tiny (frozen and second grade?)mussels, and the watery sauce had zero flavour. Garlic bread, stale as anything. Vegetable curry served with boiled veg and some weird looking "curry" sauce on top. "Naan" bread was stale and had a really bad life from the factory that it came from. The steak was unseasoned and not very well grilled, served with soggy chips. Kids fish and chips saturated in smelly and overused frying oil, and the worst of all... Steak and ale pie served like in a pool of some sort of red liquid (soup like) with a lid of shop bought puff pastry... End damage with a couple of drinks 90 quid... Sorry guys you need to try harder especially from strong competition from around this beautiful area of Wales 👍🏽 BTW our dishes didn't look anything like the pics from other guests so I was checking and checking again to make sure I don't give a bad review to the wrong place 😳 Just to confirm that me and my family were there, please check your records and match them with the aforementioned menu items - Saturday 30th March

Another perfect steak night. Really good quality steak cooked to perfection with a lovely bottle of red wine. All for £30. Can highly recommend it

Lovely dog friendly pub, had a nice family meal with our children. The fish and chips and fish pie was tasty. The kids had sausage and mash which tasted very nice for a kids meal they certainly loved it.

We went once and had a drink and the steak and ale pie, chips and peas. It came quick and it was lovely. All steak no fat! Good size dish as well.

Excellent, definitely recommend. Food and service were extremely good and the little extras of appetizers and sweet treat at the end, were very much appreciated. Dog friendly too.

Sunday lunch was one of the best. The roast beef had been rested properly which many pubs don't allow long enough for.. Good value and top notch food. Service was excellent.. Attentive without being overbearing. The appetisers and sweet treat at the end was very welcome. Well worth a visit. New management started Aug 23 and it it continues like this it deserves to be a success. And dog friendly which is a big plus.

Had a vegan and gluten-free pizza, it was absolutely delicious! Huge base and so many toppings. Our waitress was very lovely and made an incredible spicy marg cocktail, I definitely recommend . Thanks
