We visited for Sunday lunch. First, let me say I never add seasoning to my food in a restaurant, I expect the chef to already have seasoned it perfectly, so please don’t think that’s the reason why I am saying it was over seasoned. I had the roast beef Sunday lunch, and only got 1 slice of beef which was overcooked in my opinion, but edible. The small spoonful of mash was far too salty and peppery as was the cabbage. The roast potatoes and carrots were cooked nicely. They were very stingy with the gravy. I had the “sherry” trifle for dessert which was ok but I couldn’t detect any sherry in it. Having made many sherry trifles myself over the years, I know the sherry goes into the sponge base. Since this trifle didn’t have a sponge base that might explain the lack of sherry! The pub is also advertised as dog friendly, this is a stretch - dogs are allowed in a tiny room at the back which has 3 tables crammed into it! They could quite easily open up more of the restaurant to dogs whilst still keeping a large area dog free. Positives: the staff were friendly, well dressed and attentive and the pub was clean. It’s also in a nice setting. All in all a disappointing experience, but the faults could be easily fixed.

This place capitalizes on the location. Unfortunately, the menu lacks variety. If you like fish, then you will be fine. However, it's a very limited menu for those who do not like seafood. Food was quite bland and our chips were undercooked. Such a shame as we used to love visiting this pub over the years.

Been here before and had a good meal, sadly not the same this time. When we arrived there was a party so we were told we could still eat outside if we liked. What a let down! The five bean chilli came in a chippy style box and looked as though it had been thrown in with a bit of salad stuff thrown on top. Price was still the same as a sit down inside meal. Other diners meals served up in the same slapdash style sadly. Won’t be going again.

We phoned ahead just before 5 on a Friday and were told due to the wind they thought it might get busy but if we were eating at 5 (when hot food service starts) we should be ok, they were right, when we got there a very well dressed gentleman found us a table we needed to vacate by 7pm, no problem, we got a drink and waited until food service, a small but well varied menu was on offer and GF alternatives were available along with VE and V if needed. I chose a buffalo chicken burger, my partner went for the fish, chips and peas, both were decent size portions and even though in the photo of the fish and chips it doesn't look like there are many chips, the fish was sat on top of loads! Too full for a pudding we took a stroll on the beach outside, all members of staff we spoke to were very polite, held a decent conversation with local recommendations to visit and gave a check back on the food. Wonderful service and nice to see that people can dine with dogs in a separate room as personally I prefer to eat my food without having dogs nearby. Dropped one point just due to it being overpriced on beverages compared to other nearby places. Thanks for a lovely meal!

I know how busy the Ship can get so I tried phoning first to see if they had a table, but couldn't get through. Decided to risk it anyway and when I got there it was quite busy outside, but quiet inside. It was just me and my dog, and they were happy to give me a table inside (I decided it was too windy outside) and I had the "dog room" to myself! One of the women was particularly friendly and made a big fuss of my dog. I just had half of a local beer and the Dragon pie, which was gorgeous - and very hot. Unfortunately then I was too full to delve into the dessert menu!

It does get very busy. One chap complained not enough parking I refrained from suggesting concreting over the beach was a step too far!! You have to order at the bar. Very atmospheric pub. Pleasant staff. Fish finger butty very good best one we have ever had.

We came for a drink this evening with family, even thought it’s freezing with 50 mile an hour winds we were told we can not sit inside due to having our dogs with us and sent to sit outside. We checked online beforehand and it said dog friendly, if we knew they were going to make us sit outside we would not have visited. The floor outside is very uneven and my little boy ended up tripping falling over and hurting himself. Do not recommend to people with dogs, even when we asked initially the last behind the bar was very dismissive and came across quite rude.

We have been here for lunch several times before for lunch because they do a great seafood chowder, but this was our first time in the evening. When we booked in the chap on the phone said he would book us on a seat near the fire, which he did. It’s decent pub food I had Fish and chips and my wife had Gammon, egg and chips and both were good and a decent size portion, the bar staff were friendly and brought drinks over to our table. All in all a nice experience on a cold March evening.

Four of us popped in for Sunday dinner the - welcome - service and the atmosphere were all spot on. Chris made us feel very welcome and nothing was a problem for him. We decided to order four Sunday dinners which were all presented very quickly and really hot - first class. I asked the gran daughter ( who is a roast dinner fan) what would have topped it off - with great deliberation the outcome was some roast parsnips - we would have given it a 10/10 but without it was as 9.9/10 🤣

We have visited this pub xmas 22 and were welcomed into the back room with our 2 dogs. Wonderful service. Nice food. So we return today, sit down in the bar to the left. Coat off! Etc. 4 free tables, to be told by a young stone faced member off staff that we cannot sit there! No dogs allowed in this area, note the lady behind thd bar had seen us sit down etc! Then we can sit in a heated area just through the door as the dog allowed area was full... FULL! So obviously dogs bring paying humans. !!! When we went through the door we realised we were being shown the outside area....today is freezing. Here's the story why we are here on holiday. Lost my mum last year to dementia. We are now full time carers for parents with Dementia and Parkinsons. And we are on a much needed break. My partner has had a breakdown! So mentally our health is really not good. We were ushered to a bench outside because we had dogs. Even though there were tables inside in the warm. When I told the girl we are not sitting out here and I felt we were decriminalised as we had 2 dogs.. we didn't have children! Hey abrupt reply was ITS THE HOUSE RULES and she turned away to rush back in doors. Absolutely disgusting service. At this time we are mentally disabled. A hidden disability. And we were escorted to a BENCH outside! Obviously if the dog area! Presume you also have a disability area , child area, senior area!! Was full... then dog owners are good customers. What's more annoying is the area we sat in the last vidit was also totally EMPTY And we were told you don't use that area, she screwed her face up indicating a problem with that area. Absolutely disappointed... we will not recommend or return.

I had a lovely dinner here last week with my partner while we're visiting from Australia. It has such charm and a lovely cozy atmosphere. We sat near the fireplace and enjoyed a few wines and shared a couple of starters. Chris was fantastic and made sure we tried the Dragon Pie for our main meals which was an amazing recommendation - it had so much flavor and came out scorching hot - perfect for a cold wintery evening. Needless to say, we're already planning to come back.

We visit whenever we visit Anglesey. Prior to going one of our friends had a look at the reviews and questioned our recommendation. Thankfully we ignored the negative reviews and went anyway. We weren’t dissapointed. We received the usual warm welcome on arrival. We then tucked into Dragon pie, fish and chips and burgers. All meals were delicious and excellent value for money. Our visit was fantastic from start to finish.
