I had went to Middlestone to visit my brother and my 4 year old nephew on saturday. I was horrified to find that there was hunt being hoasted by this establishment! My nephew was distraught and has autism, my brother moved to the area and we couldn't even take my nephew to the park as the hounds were fouling everywhere and the beautiful green areas had been ripped up by hunt, hounds and hunt supporter vehicles. My brother knows some of the locals there, them, along with my brother and I were utterly disgusted at this establishment hosting such an awful event, especially after their barbaric practices have been brought to light by the news media, local and national. Appalled by their behaviour, this establishment doesn't care at all for local residents and their children and children with special needs. As I left, a horse box scaped past my vehicle in the busy road, it was chaos. Shame on you and your establishment! My brother has called his local council and will be petitioning with the local residents for you to stop hosting such an awful event. And the hunt was so rude! Their supporters absolutely disgusting, spitting on the street in front of my nephew. You should be ashamed!

We have just returned from a camper van trip and were lucky enough to come across this amazing place. We stayed for one night with the camper, but enjoyed it so much we stayed a further two nights on out return journey from Scotland. The landlady and landlord were away and the pub was being looked after by daughter Erin and boyfriend Oliver. I cannot praise them enough for their warm welcome and care. We were so well looked after and both Erin and Oliver were so friendly and took time to get to know us, ensuring that we had a fantastic fun time!! I highly recommend The Ship Inn and will see you again in August!!!! Jane & Noony

There was 9 of us none of us had been to the ship middlestone village so we decided to go and never again the food was nice the pie corn beef /steak which 4 of us had both pies were over done with the pepper there was no other customers in so the barmaid wasn’t rushed off her feet after our meal we were on about desert but we were not offered a menu so we asked for coffee to be told that they only have instant so which we decided to just pay our bill and leave never have we been home before 9 o’clock it was a very short experience that will not be repeated if that’s how people are treated I’m not surprised that they were no other people in the place

We came across this pub only because we were stopping locally. The pub was a little dated but had good atmosphere. We contacted the owners of the pub and arranged for them to put a buffet on for 12 ladies on the Saturday afternoon. We found the staff very friendly and the buffet was lovely and very good value. The drinks were also very reasonable. We decided to book in for Sunday lunch the following day and must say the lunch was excellent..2 courses for about £8.00...and we even purchased some takeaway lunches for our family at home... I would advise booking as when we left after the lunch the place was very busy. There was seats outside so handy if you have a dog .. will definitely return for Sunday lunch again

We just had a wonderful Sunday afternoon dinner. I haven't had a nice Sunday dinner like that since my grandmother prepared one 50 years ago. This is a very convivial pub and all of the clients appear very neighborly. We also had a very good lunch here one day. For the Sunday dinner, mine included three tender slices of pork, three kinds of potato, a nice Yorkshire pudding, 4 vegetables plus mashed peas, and a tureen of delicious gravy. You can't go wrong with Sunday dinner at The Ship Inn. They so have a perfect BnB.

My wife and I went on Friday for the Parmo Night but when we were saw the Steak Night deal we couldn't resist. With home cooked chips, real ale and a lovely sponge pudding to finish off with. What else can you ask for?

We visited recently and were very pleasantly surprised, the Sunday lunch was spot on, even with mushy peas. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful. Well worth another visit. I would book if your going. Car parking opposite was adequate.
