The new menu, is lovely. We both had the steak chips and onion rings that were amazing, lovely staff and Zoe who waited the tables was really lovely and very helpful. Jacey was great, with great knowledgeable about the food and drinks 10/10, definitely will go again. Also met a lovely couple who were celebrating a birthday. A really good night:)

I don’t write this light hearted, I believe I had the best roast dinner I’ve ever had today!! (and I’ve eaten a lot of roast dinners) I had the Arancini to start which melted in my mouth and had tons of flavour. For main, I had roast belly of Pork. It was cooked to perfection!l as were all the trimmings! This had been a spontaneous visit today with my family of 3 who also vouched how good their food was. Lovely little stop, Waitresses were very polite & friendly. The restaurant had a very modern but classic gastro pub feel to it and was very clean. Will definitely be coming back again with more people! 10 out of 10!

We have been visiting The Ship Inn since we moved to the area in 2020 and have probably eaten there over 100 times, and popped in for a drink many more. It is our go to pub/restaurant on the Dengie peninsular. Bearing in mind there are ten or more pub/restaurants closer to our home than this there are a number of reasons we've settled on The Ship Inn as our go to. 1. Consistency - the quaity of the food never varies. The menu changes regularly and the quality of the food always remains execeptional. The menu is strongly British/European based but there are usually a couple of Indian or Asian influenced dishes offered. If you are a pudding person, some of their puddings are the best I've eaten. The quality borders on fine dining. 2. Excellent Service - the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. There is a low turnover of staff compared to most pub/restaurants, that stabilty reflects on the management, but alongside the staff taste tests of new menu items, means that if you ask advice on dishes you can rely on the response. 3. It is a pub with exceptional food - they have cracked the balance between pub and restaurant, you are welcome and made comfortbale in both. You can pop in and have a glass of whatever, there is also bar menue (to the same standard of preparation and presentation as the restaurant). 4. Value for money - the prices are reasonable by the standard of the day. Taking in to account the consistency and quality of the food, this makes it good value for money. You will have gathered that I strongly recommend The Ship Inn, we have never had a bad meal here. If you plan to visit I'd suggest booking as the restaurant can get very busy, particularly at weekends in the summer.

Came in for a late lunch and drink, and had a lovely time. We found a snug corner with cosy chairs, drank beautifully cold local cider, and had a fantastic seafood platter. The atmosphere was happy and friendly. It is a lovely local pub with a well-considered menu.

Lovely birthday lunch with family and friends. We were a party of 8 plus high chair and we were made to feel very welcome, as always. The food & service were excellent, particular mention to Jo, the manager.

Had a delicious lunch with a group of friends, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We all enjoyed our food, nobody was disappointed with their choice. Portions were a good size and the quality was excellent. As the weather was warm, we sat outside for a drink before going to our table inside. Would highly recommend.

We went to the Restaurant this week whilst visiting the lovely Burnham on Crouch, The Ship Inn on the High Street is a delight. Very warm welcome and couldn't accommodate us more as we had one of the family in a wheelchair. The food is fantastic, not just mine. The whole table agreed, and we all had a bit of food envy on the choices others had made, lol! The service was excellent and friendly. Great varied menu.. Thoroughly recommend a visit !! 👌

Stayed for one night as we went to a wedding nearby. The room was lovely very clean and well decorated, the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast in the morning came from a Cafe across the road that was delivered to our table right on time and was delicious. We arrived back from the wedding whilst the bar was still open and had a drink before going to bed, the bar is very vice with great staff and was surprised with the price of the beer (very cheap to what we’re used to) Certainly would recommend the venue if you need to stay in the area.

What a brilliant restaurant and pub. Brilliant selection of food and drink. In the perfect location slap dab in the middle of Burnham high street, a stone’s throw from the sea front. Food was perfect fish and chips and steaks were cooked well. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Our waitress Jo was fab

Eight of our family made a dinner reservation here paying a deposit of £80 to do so. We ate a selection of dishes. The soup was good, beef was fatty, burgers incredibly dry in burnt buns. The dessert listed and preferred was unavailable. During dinner we had a selection of soft drinks and two bottles of wine. The bill was presented and checked. The restaurant had not only omitted to deduct the £80 deposit paid but had added an additional £160 charge plus a fee for a third bottle of wine we had not ordered or received. These errors had to be pointed out twice to the waitress before the correct bill was presented and paid. We won’t return.

We had Sunday lunch the service was very slow the beef was 30 percent fat when we brought it to the their attention we were told that’s normal sorry nothing we can do. We won’t be going back.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday. They fitted us in without booking. The food was outstanding. We both agreed the deserts ((blonde and Eton mess) were the best we have ever eaten. Roast pork was great too and portions very generous The service at the start was faultless. We were initially served by Ceri who is a true hospitality professional and an asset to your business. We felt for the young man taking over as it felt like he had too many tables to manage resulting in slow service. This is not the pub's fault, but unfortunately the end of the meal was spoiled by the group of 7 who were loud and had no consideration for other customers or staff.

Brilliant food and atmosphere, popped in on a whim and got seated quickly with a smile. Jo and mollie were amazing and the cocktails are 10/10. Felt very welcomed from the start and honestly the seafood platter was out of this world! Will be back again soon to try the rest of the cocktails!

We had dinner here after I’d heard so many people recommending it and am so glad we did. Fabulous atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly staff. The menu caters for everyone, with a great range of innovative dishes alongside traditional favourites and portions are very generous. I’d definitely visit again . Whether you’re just popping in for a drink, a meal , or want to stay the night (we did that too and standards are just as high) I can’t recommend it enough. This has got to be the best place to eat in Burnham by far - and we’ve tried them all!

We eat at The Ship quite regularly and have never had a bad experience. The food has always been tasty with good size portions. The staff are always friendly and attentive. We enjoy their roast dinners on a Sunday and I'm also partial to their fish and chips. The bar menu is also good value.

I went for lunch with a group of friends. It was a nasty rainy cold day but the central heating wasn't working and only started heating up just as we were leaving. The food was excellent but we had to wait a very long time in between each course. It was quite busy but we noticed the waitress stop to chat with what appeared to be regulars while we were waiting for plates to be cleared. Perhaps we're just old and crabby!

Great food, great service, fantastic atmosphere what more could you ask for staff are all polite and lovely can't do enough for you

Went to the pub for their acoustic music on Sunday, pub had a lovely atmosphere. So decided to stay for a roast dinner with friends. Service and food was just as lovely as we had expected - will be re visiting again very soon…waitress said they have a new menu out soon so looking forward to it.

I have had two fabulous meals at The Ship this weekend, one was a birthday celebration for 8 people and the other event was for a birthday celebration for 50 + people. The food was excellent on both occasions. The same quality food and attentive friendly staff were the same both times. Their menus are very varied from an excellent variety of bar boards to a full on a la carte menu. I highly recommend it

Nice friendly pub in the heart of Burnham on Crouch. Service was good without being intrusive. Staff attentive to us and other guests. We both had a starter and main which we were impressed with. Freshly food, piping hot, cooked really well. My chicken was very succulent and the bubble and squeak really good. Our only criticism would be that the batter was a little fatty on the fish. Would definitely return if in the vicinity again.

This is the second visit to the Ship Inn and once again had excellent food. It was quiet on the Tuesday lunch time and the service was great. The prior visit was an evening dinner and the food was excellent and service great on that occasion as well. Would thoroughly recommend and will be going back.

We were a party of 6 and was in the area and wanted food, we came across this place as everything else was closed (3pm). We had 3 courses and drinks, the food is a little pricey but there is a lot of it and you fill full up after the starter and main, but still a little room to squeeze a pudding in. We enjoyed this experience so much that we decided to go back for a Christmas meal on the 20th December. Well worth a visit to this pub and there are rooms to stay

We have eaten here every year since it reopened. Saturday my partner and I went for dinner and we both had ribeye, unfortunately mine was so chewie I couldn't eat it I ended up having to remove it from my mouth put it on my plate. The manager asked me if everything was to my liking which I replied no, she apologised and said we didn't have to pay for 2 drinks, I wasn't to pleased as taking the drinks off the bill worth around £12 and having to pay full price for the steak priced at over£30 which I couldn't eat doesn't seem right to me. I asked to see the owner but was told it was her night off. We left very disappointed.

Sunday Lunch was AMAZING!!!! Good value and so tasty! We had chicken roast dinner each and dessert. Just one portion of cauliflower cheese was plenty then a dessert each. Lovely atmosphere and location for a lovely walk along the river. HIGH RECEOMMEND!

Can't fault the service! Although fully booked when we phoned, we decided to pop in for a quick drink anyway, a table came free and the food and service were both top class. Coincidentally both Manager and barman knew St Albans well, our home town, so we sort of felt at home. Great pub, great food, great service, one to recommend.

Received terrible customer service. Most of our group were served food that was well below standard. We complained and the staff agreed that it should not have been served. It spoilt the evening and we were still charged full price for the odd bits of food (side dishes) and drink. No customer service!!! This is meant to be an upmarket bistro pub. The service does not match the price level!

A simple menu with something for everyone, however the price and pictures lead you to believe that it would be better than usual Pub Grub. We ordered the Mussels and Halloumi burger, the portion of mussels was more like a starter size, and were a distant cousin of those shown in the poster. The Halloumi burger was ok but ruined by the overdose of cold onion relish which made the bottom half of the toasted brioche bun soggy and cold.

We just popped in for a drink and a some lunch scotch egg sausage roll and 1 portion chips was £18 . Plus drinks. What we got was good but portion size weeney. I know things gone up but that was very expensive.

First time visit with friends who are regulars. Wonderful food and friendly staff. The steak was one of the best I’ve had in this country - will definitely be coming back.

Went here on a quiet Thursday lunchtime and sat out front under the shade of the pavement trees. Just fresh fish and chips with fresh mushy peas but absolutely delicious as was the plate of whitebait. Didn't expect too much but actually was the best fish and chips I've had for a long time - definitely much, much better than the usual disappointing pub grub you end up with in so many places nowadays!

Visited on a busy Sunday evening and so enjoyed this well designed and well maintained pub in the heart of this lovely small town. Staff were very friendly, food was very good and well presented. They do a 2 course or three course on Sunday but you can also just have one meal on this menu and prices were reasonable.
