Needs more variety in the menu. And not stop serving at 7.30 pm!

I didn't eat here but the pub was nice with a good atmosphere

Under new management since the start of 2024 as a freehouse, its great to see this pub coming back to life again. I enjoyed a delicious lunch of homemade cheese pie and chips with peas, with stunning views over the moors. They also now do Sunday lunch and have Sky sports. Its child-friendly and I also saw advertisements for upcoming live music events.

Went up for a right good poker night

What a joke this place has become, whoever thought that letting an alcoholic (try) and run this place when they couldn’t run a bath is beyond me. As soon as these pair of clowns are booted out of the door by Marstons the better! I feel really sorry for the people who booked their Christmas dinner only to have it cancelled on them at the last minute after having a great one last year. Get rid of them-kick them out before they completely ruin it.

Poor food had to send first burger back as burnt…..chips rock hard even replacement burger not much better …disappointing wouldn’t recommend .

Had an evening meal here a month ago and really enjoyed it. Returned two days ago and ordered fish and chips and a sirloin steak. The fish'n'chips were fine but my steak was tough and chewy. I returned it and it came back to me 5 minutes later with the comment that "the chef can cut it, so it's alright." The pieces she cut, obviously with a very sharp knife, were still tough and chewy. I ended up eating a few chips and then we left. Two things strike me here, firstly, that I the customer was at fault for commenting on the quality of the meat and secondly that I was not immediately offered an apology and an alternative meal. The steak was difficult to cut with the supplied steak knife and inedible altogether. I came away from the Shiny Sheff feeling insulted by the attitude of the kitchen staff.

Very dissatisfied with the service and the food every time we’ve been in they’ve run out of something today we ordered scampi only when it was served we were told no tarta sauce I ordered steak but I was told that they had run out We live local but we will not be visiting again nor will our friends

Food was poor for a sat afternoon. March 25 .Not much on offer and came like canteen food , burger was over cooked and dry. Steak and ale pie was burnt on top. Shame nice pub nice staff , hopefully just a one off.

Really bad burger was OK chips was reheated frozen had to have them replaced wasn't busy so presume the chips was reheated... My friend enjoyed the lasagne though

Visited for lunch & was pleasantly surprised, having been in here over 30 years off & on the new owners (of 6 months, I asked) have put their own little touches on the place & the light bite fish & scampy were delicious, I'll go again 😊

Half that was on the menu board they did not have short on staff one girl doing bar and waiting on table unless they improve greatly will not return

Staff were very friendly and doing their best, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. - Restaurant is extremely dated inside and in need of a complete refurb - Despite having a large menu, most of the dishes weren’t available due to a delivery that didn’t arrive. No fish, rice, bacon, beef burgers, baguettes etc - Food was very slow and took wildly different times to come. Some food took an hour and people on our table had finished before others even got theirs - When the food came it was very disappointing. Chicken was as tough as an old boot, naan bread was like cardboard, bread for the sandwich was stale - Depressing vibe inside Best to avoid…

A party of 8 of us came in for our work Christmas meal. It was lovely food especially the turkey, the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend and we will be back again

The food is always lovely, the staff are always friendly and accommodating for me and my young son and the atmosphere is always very relaxed. There’s a playground outside (for summer) and outdoor seating. We will be returning for sure.

5* for atmosphere and fun karaoke night, love how many people of different ages get involved and give it a go. 1* for food. Went for a Christmas Meal and started out with soup and no spoon, had to ask twice while my soup was going cold, my friend took to drinking it out of the bowl. Not much better for the main course, cold turkey (not proper turkey, looked like turkey roll), cold carrots, burnt roast potatoes. My main course came with the smallest pot of really thick luke warm gravy. No consistency over portion sizes, someone else had same as me and they got more carrots and sprouts (don't actually like sprouts but that's not the point here) we had a party of 11 people and some had their main course given to them after others had finish, I understand that there weren't much staff on but when you go as a group you expect food to come out together not 10mins apart. There was also confusion with what had been ordered as the staff came with more of the same dish that what had been ordered, when no one owned up to having that dish one of the staff members went back for the order list (seemed like they were trying to prove somat but didn't work) this showed that they had made too many (we later found out that they were mixing our order up with another table. Dessert time, best part of the meal, salted caramel brownie, delicious, just needs to be bigger lol. Only issue with dessert was 2 of my party had to have their sticky toffee pudding heated up as it was cold, oh yeah and again confusing our order with another table. I was still hungry after a 3 course meal which never usually happens so had to have some snacks after too. Also contemplating on going to McDonald's on the way home. Ended the night with Karaoke which was fun. I'll return for Karaoke nights but won't be having food again.

Ok, bang average. Prices gone up, service got worse, no one clears empties from the table no sky sports anymore Staff friendly though which is nice UPDATE - been a couple times since, everything improved since original review posted

Been in for food numerous times, and nearly every occasion have had to wait 45-60 minutes for what is essentially a plated microwave ready meal. Prices are what you'd expect, but the portion sizes seem to decrease with every visit. Staff are friendly, that's about all that's good. Not terrible, but we definitely won't be returning.

Visited here on Halloween and brilliant kids party fantastic adult party always made to feel welcome with the kids and plenty of room if you want a drink kid free …my no1 pub great staff and food

Lovely restaurant. We were a table of 4. The chicken burgers were lovely. Fudh and chips was OK. Fish was very dry. My steak was horrendous. .... more sinu than meat.... very bad cut of rump... chef needs to be a bit more particular when ordering steak. I'll not order steak there again. The gent serving us could have put a bit of effort into cracking a smile... he was miserable.

Just terrible pub, such potential in the area its located but it's like it doesn't care. It's a pub that should be on a campsite designed for keeping kids happy. I would rather not go to a pub ever again if this is what a pub is like in 2022. All things considered i will never walk through the doors again. To top it all beer was bad, tasted watery.

Saturday lunchtime was quiet but the food was very good and freshly cooked. A good choice on the menu at reasonable prices too.

We were met by very friendly bar staff who served us and showed us round the seating area so we could find a suitable table to sit. Ordered food which came quickly, both myself and my friends had a breakfast. It was piping hot and cooked to perfection, fresh mushrooms also not those slushy tinned ones. Fresh coffee There’s a great atmosphere in here, it’s spotlessly clean and reasonably priced… The location is great for us to fill up before heading out on a walk and we shall definitely return

The pub opened for the televising of Queen Elizabeth state funeral, we had a full breakfast which was plentiful and delicious ALL the staff were very welcoming, efficient, friendly and the table service for drinks second to none

on ordering food we was given a list of what food was available ,in between taking our order the lady was serving the regulars at the same time of which i found very rude .i ordered nachos which i asked for no guamole and came with it on.we ordered drinks aswell and ordered a pint of strongbow dark fruit to which the barrel run out and need to change it but was given 3/4 pint but was only charged for half.their was no pizzas on which was offer of day ,which i was amazed when a regular asked if poker night was still on tonight to which the barmaid replyed yes and they will be pizza ,we was told someone had just took over today ,the carpet where we was sat had snail trail all over not a very good experience at all,
