Disappointed with our meal, both my partner and myself had to ask if they would top up the buffet selection. We both got a first plate of food but by the time we were ready for a 2nd a lot of the trays were empty! We waited just short of 40 minutes for fresh food to be put out and then we had to ask for a sweet and more drinks. The staff were not busy only 3 tables of couples in the restaurant yet they seemed reluctant to actually serve us. We will not be in a hurry to return here which is a shame as it would have been a treat had the service been better.

Second visit to this restaurant first time it was OK chose from main menu. This time opted for the buffet. All the starters and the mains (apart from two) were tepid at best, the two that were warm enough to eat were beef with black bean sauce (tough as old boots) and prawns with broccoli (tasted really fishy). Left without eating much at all. Asked if everything was OK, and their excuse was it's not busy and the kitchen are doing their best..... £18 for food and a bottle of beer.. Then another £7 for a kebab on the way home

This is the first time I have ever been to a buffet where everything is cooked fresh. It was gorgeous. Was a Tuesday night apparently there are a night or two where you can help yourself. I would definitely go cooked to order it's the nicest Chinese food ever. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely buffet - with plenty choice, all freshly made & topped up regularly. A member of staff gave correct advice on which foods to avoid for nut allergies. My only complaint is that staff were very quick to ask for our dessert orders & I felt we were being rushed. I would have preferred they wait until sure everyone had finished eating before asking. Waiting staff appeared young & inexperienced but the food was lovely.

This Restaurant is now called the Pearl of the East. Although we have never eaten in the restaurant since it has changed ownership, we regularly have a take away. The delivery service is very good and usually delivered well within the time you are given. Never had a bad meal and it is always TOP of our list if we have friends or family over and I want a night off from cooking.

Went out for a meal with my fella and a mate. We were greeted and seated quickly and with a smile, the young waitress was very helpful advising us on what was on offer on the buffet, which she advised as kitchen was busy it would be about 10 mins before it was set up. She also offered us menus and took drink order which were served quickly and to the right people. We decided to try the buffet WOW fantastic selection, all fresh and we'll cooked. Empty dishes were replenished quickly and there was a constant choice of fantastic food.

Family meal out with youth and children. Lovely buffet that was regularly topped up. Fantasia sauce was a delight and the satay sticks were a favourite with my son. Attentive but not overbearing staff. Would recommend a visit. Only negative was paying full price for a 10 year old.

We went to this Chinese restaurant on a Saturday evening recently. It is now called Pearl of the East. We had the buffet for £12.80. We had chicken and sweetcorn soup to begging with. This couldn't be faulted. There was a choice of about 10 starters. The chicken skewers and salt and pepper calamari were the best for us. There are various sauces to accompany these. There was also a choice of about 10 main courses. These were mainly Chinese but unusually there were a couple of Italian. These were pleasant but not stand out. The sweet and sour chicken and the chicken fillets in batter were the best for us. There was fried rice, fried noodles, chips and prawn crackers to accompany. These were all very good. There was no shortage of food, the buffet was continually replenished. The food was consistently hot. We had banana fritters and ice-cream to finish. This could not be faulted. Alternatives were pineapple fritter and ice-cream or a bowl of ice-cream. The service was pleasant and attentive. My overall rating would be between a three and a four. Given in particular the reasonable cost and the good service I'll give this four.

This Chinese Restaurant now runs under the name of Pearl of the East We normally visit a different Chinese buffet in Peterhead and were desperate for a change. We last visited this restaurant in 2006 and it was dreadful. So we thought, what the heck, lets give it a go as I know it has had new owners since. You get a very warm welcome from the staff, they explained that the buffet would take approx 10 minutes as we were the first in for the buffet I am presuming. They showed us to our seats, and said there was soup for us to go and help ourselves to. In under 10 minutes the food was out, piping hot and raring to go. The food is really nice there, approx 6 starters, excluding the soup, and 9 mains. And it feels like a Chinese Restaurant. We decided to go the following Friday as it was our sons birthday, and although again it was great, I was upset that the food was exactly the same as the week before. Not one change in the menu. Now for me that is an issue, as I get bored incredibly easy. And this is the reason why we decided to try some where new as our usual was becoming slightly boring. the great thing about the Pearl of the East is you get a desert. You can choose from ice cream, banana fritter or pineapple fritter. Something sweet at the end of a lot of savoury is always welcome. One thing I must add is that I hate salt, with a passion, and one thing I can say is that the food is not to salty. Not like some places. And in this day and age where we shouldn't be adding any salt at all, it makes a change

What can I say, Chinese - Italian and traditional rolled into 1. Chinese food - avoid the buffet unless you love jimmy chungs done badly. You get a surprise to find some dishes in the mains selection that are advertised as Italian.... Again these are done badly! Chicken in a cream sauce and some sort of pasta dish you can add a dollop of to your noodles and fried rice... What is that all about in the buffet selection. What really made me laugh was the traditional christmass dinner they had advertised, all there was in addition the the normal Chinese / Italian gruel served in the buffet was turkey breast! No potatoes, gravy etc... Total joke - won't be back!!!
