What a great little place. Been lots of times. We booked for a Birthday party for 11 people. Food was excellent. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Great service and value. Olly and the rest of the team made for a great night for us. Will be back for sure

Shimla is our favourite Indian restaurant in Belfast. I've been coming to this restaurant for years since they opened and the food is always super tasty and fresh and they provide great and caring service. I haven't been disappointed once.

This restaurant is such a hidden gem tucked away on the Woodstock road which has a number of well known eateries. Shimla is always impeccably clean the service is always incredible so kind and welcoming, could not be nicer or more helpful. The food is wonderful, lots of authentic dishes and chefs recommendations which are so tasty we try to get a different one every time. It's also very well priced. They do take away and delivery but if you get the chance to dine in, then do - they have people that come from Monaghan for take away!

Have only ever got a takeaway from The Shimla but it is always enjoyable, tasty and pretty good value for money in the current economic situation. We always get a free bottle of coke or Fanta too which is great for the kids. Definitely recommend!

Exquisite meals only made with the finest ingredients. The chefs are first class and every member of staff is very welcoming, extremely polite, courteous and highly professional. I dine in Shimla and use the takeaway service regularly and I have never once been disappointed with my meal. Try it for yourself to discover an explosion of taste in every dish. The prices will surprise you and if you dine in, you can bring your own drinks. I do miss the old Shimla across the street with its quirky food delivery hatch from the floor above.

I don’t normally leave bad reviews , I believe we can all have an off day, but I just think this needs addressed .ordered a takeaway last night 1/12/23 , after a 2 hour wait the food was delivered cold with food missing , when I ring to complain he said I hadn’t ordered it and it’s not their place to ring and check your order , yet it was ok for them to ring me and asked me to pay cash . When we finally got what food we ordered and sat down to eat the food was tasteless and the lamb was as tough as my work boots . I will never use this place again

Friendly staff, very fast service The have chair lift to go up stairs of you have walking difficultys. Thoses stairs are a challenge lol but lovely atmosphere and of course the food is just beautiful. We will definitely be back and of course treat ourselves through just eat when we can't make it into the restaurant 😊

Was advised by another trip advisor to try the Shimla as I have been fairly disappointed by other Belfast restaurants and he was not wrong. Service, food and value all 5 star. Definitely try it if like me you're a bit nonplussed with other Indians bland and samey offerings you won't be disappointed.

This is such a hidden gem, i class this fabulous little restaurant as my local dine out, great for friends, family & couples meal out, food is probably the best Indian food I’ve ever ate, my friend who is from England also agrees it’s the best Indian food, prices are super reasonable, byo which helps keep the cost down, spotless clean, fantastic friendly staff who can’t do enough to make your evening great.

We weren't able to get a table old years night but we decided to have take away. The food is just beautiful, portions are fantastic lots to share. On my way out the man wished me a happy new year gave me a bottle of coke and a lovely surprise as I was leaving the shop he gave me a beautiful rose. Some may think it's only a rose but the gesture ment so much to me❤️ We will try remember to phone earlier next time for a table 😊 I highly recommend their food xx

I live in Carryduff, County Down so that is 6 miles from Shimla. My Partner who lives in East Belfast got me into ordering from Shimla. I was very doubtful when I placed my first order 5 years ago. I know, 5 years ago, and this is my first Review. However, I felt compelled to write a Review as I organised a 50th Birthday Party meal in Shimla last month for her. I could have booked any Restaurant anywhere in Belfast to celebrate this special occasion, but my Partner chose Shimla. Why? Have you ever had your taste buds singing or your nose twitching such is the exquisite quality of their meals. I was hesitant the first time I ordered a meal for us from Shimla but, hey, my Partner wanted me to. I wasn’t pleasantly surprised. I was absolutely overwhelmed. I expected “rubber” chicken smothered in lots of Korma sauce. What I got, and my mouth is watering just writing this Review, was the BEST EVER chicken dish I have ever had and that includes my favourite Chinese restaurant and Thai restaurant. And, despite the fact that there are at least 10 other Indian Restaurants between my house and Shimla, the drive over to it is so well worth it. The Meal For Two Deal will give you a heavy lunch or early dinner the next day. Portions are big, very Big. The vegetable rice is my favourite. So to Ali, and the Team, Dun-Yuh-Vahd. John White

Across the road from where they used to be I’m happy to say the food and service is just as good. New place more modern as well. Guy at desk even gave my wife a rose on the way out. Thanks for that , I ain’t bought or gave her a flower in around 20 years lol.

Fantastic Indian meal! There was a great range to choose from, and they did some early bird and meal-for-two deals which were great value. Was very impressed with the food and the presentation. The staff were friendly and helpful, and even remembered who ordered each dish when it was being served. Would definitely recommend for any fans of good Indian food. Was so glad to see bhindi Baji on the menu too!!

Perfection to every single detail. Service was great attentive and fast. Food was undoubtedly the best Indian I've ever tasted . I use to be a chef for a 5 years and usually I would always find a fault with preparation of a meal, taste or service... but not in this case . Chicken was cooked and seasoned to the perfection. Starters ware also nothing less than 5 star. There was no fault in anything from food to service. Great little diamond in the middle of Woodstock road. Highly recommended to enybody who love Indian food as much as I do . Definitely will be back :) Kaya x

Shimla have recently moved venues across the road and Ali has developed a fantastic new restaurant and has amazing staff. We have been visiting every couple of weeks now over the summer and have been so impressed. Tonight I had the chicken tikka biryani and my partner had the chilli chicken tikka chilli masala, both dishes were fantastic. We had a garlic and peshwari naan which were amazing. One thing I would like to see Shimla do in future is masala chips as that would be a nice addition to the amazing menu.

This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Belfast. The quality of the food is matched by the quality of service. I rang ahead and even though they were booked they made a table up for me. I started with Aloo Chat and ny main was lamb Jalfrezi with a pishwari naan. I almost don't wanna post this and keep Shimla my secret :)

Visited the Shimla on the 13th July 2022 with 2 friends, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. It was top notch and I would definitely visit again when I’m in Belfast.

Best curry house in Northern Ireland. I've been going here for nearly 10 years. Tried most of the menu and everything is outstanding. So happy for the guys that they own their premises now, they deserve it. Always a warm welcome and atmosphere is superb. I tell everyone I know about how much I love the place, such a hidden gem.

Shimla may have moved into a new (but sleek and smart) premise, but that wonderful and sublime quality of food remains. I haven't been able to get out of the house much due to poor health, and in turn hadn't been able to visit the former premises (less than maybe 180 yards away) at all in recent times, but boy did Friday night's culinary experience make up for it! We were seated fairly promptly after making the mistake of not booking and sat down to enjoy our B.Y.O. beer and wine. (No corkage fee at all, by the way - no charging of £1-50 or £2 per bottle of beer). Have to commend Ali and the rest of his team for this decision; faor play indeed!! Ordered starters, and we opted for a couple of our favourites from the 'old' Shimla restaurant, namely chicken chaat puree and chicken wings. Quite literally *superb!!* That's all that needs to be said on the matter. To truly experience how fantastic these dishes are, get yourself a table booked in this beautiful new restaurant! The onion bhajees (sp.) in Shimla are tremendous. I'll be sure to order some of those the next time we are there. The trend of high quality food continued with the mains as my partner proclaimed that her Chilli Garlic Chicken was "amazing." I seconded that statement as I dipped my beautifully-charred peshwari naan into her curry. How I had missed experiencing all those wonderfully- balanced spices and flavours! Really looking forward to our next meal in Shimla again as both the service and food was truly second to none. I hope that the new restaurant goes from strength to strength as it really is the best around for fantastic Indian food!

Went down for Shimla's opening night of the new premises. Beautiful. Food and service was 5 star as always.

I came across this Indian about two years ago and haven't ordered from another one since. Lovely food and the onion bhajis are literally to die for. Highly recommend, lovely staff as well. Give out a free drink when collected my order as well. Excellent service.

Ordered the 2 person menu last night and it was great. Will definitely order again. The lamb was very good-not the usual fat and gristle you get in so many other takeaways.

To say the food was disappointing would be an understatement. After waiting over an hour for delivery, with no answer on the phone and no response to email or FB message I'm now left watching UFC with an empty belly as it never arrived and...

Went with family to this place tonight. Doesnt look much from the outside and basic on the inside. However the food and service were great. Food was really tasty and good value. Service great. Very attentive without being in your face. Can bring your own...

After a week long trip to Northern Ireland for The Open golf tournament, my brother and I decided to have our last meal at The Shimla restaurant in Belfast, and what a choice we made! We were greeted by a polite and extremely helpful waitress...

Had Chicken Jalfrezi and naan, nicest naan I’ve tasted. Jalfrezi was top notch, big portions and tender chicken. Lovely meal.

Este es mi indio favorito en Belfast. La comida siempre es espectacular y el servicio es increíble.

Diminuto para llevar con un sentarse en las instalaciones. Siempre recojo mi comida desde aquí. Pollo de madras con arroz y naan. Alrededor de las 9. Sabroso picante fresco y una buena porción. He probado la misma comida en varias ciudades y países, pero esta es la mejor para mi gusto. Irreal. Muy recomendable.

Decided to try this place for a kebab after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed . Got a mixed kebab on chips.Everyting about the feed was great. Large portion served nice and hot with good meat and chips and lovely tasting sauces. Will be back for sure

The quality of food is excellent, good portions and great customer service. The food really hits the taste buds and the prices make it even better. Bring your own bottle to compliment it. Its a small intimate resultant. Highly recommend.

curries themselves were tasty - vindaloo and lamb was good. pilau rice was good. bhaji/samosa starter was good. chips were a bit thin/floppy so could be improved, but i dont really expect chips to be a main focus in an indian so can forgive that... but still room for improvement there. would defo order again.

The food is always excellent, whether it be eating in or takeaway. The friendly owner and staff offer the perfect dining experience, friendly and attentive without going over the top. There are other Indian restaurants in Belfast, but for quality and comfort the Shimla is hard to beat.While I would love to see it do well and prosper it is quite nice that it's a bit of a hidden gem and there is no difficulty getting a table.

I was here recently for a family meal. It’s not the biggest of restaurants but the food is great and the staff are excellent and very friendly! It’s reasonably priced and portion sizes are good enough. We had to wait a while for our food due to one of the things we ordered so we were offered free soft drinks to make up for the wait.

Lovely food. I had the Lamb Biryani. Absolutely lovely. Also some chicken Pakoras which were juicy and flavoursome. The rice was perfectly cooked, and lamb was tender. First time getting out of here but I'd definitely do it again.

The quality of Shimla’s food is outstanding and always prepared with the freshest of ingredients, I have been a patron of this establishment for a few years now and can say that I have never been let down by the quality or service.

First time customer, I always go for a Jalfreizi and Onion Bhajis when I visit a new indian. Was more than suitably impressed with both choices. Naan bread was soft and stretchy and the popadums were delicious. Never change them! Missus got an old fav, Chicken Tikka Mushroom Dupiaza and was very impressed too. Little girl loved the Popadums and the Chicken Pakora. Thanks for a great first impression!

Qué puedo decir, este tradicional restaurante bengalí indio es magnífico tanto en comida de calidad y un servicio de calidad, el personal es muy amable, desde el primer segundo en la puerta hasta que salga, la entrega a lo que desea de un servicio de algunos restaurantes han olvidado. La comida era deliciosa, con un amplio sobre las placas fresco y vibrante, como cabe esperar de platos indios. El menú era genial, con muchas opciones para satisfacer los gustos de todo el mundo, pedí el pollo chili masala para mi principal junto con ajo y azafrán arroz pilau nann cocinado a la perfección tanto el pollo estaba literalmente derrite en mi boca. También teníamos un plato entrante de verduras mezcladas con pollo pakora pakora y la estrella del arranque, samosa's son tan sabrosa que podría haber Comimos un plato de ellas sin problema. Ustedes verdaderamente si no ha intentado seriamente su falta de Shimla, ofrecen un servicio para llevar si no comedor elegante, pero si usted no será decepcionado. love eating in the Shimla the food is excellent along with the service , staff are very helpful they look after their customers which in return encourages you to return , they look after their regular customers spoil them with extra sides or a starter . well worth a visit .

This a really good take away. The food arrived on time, the portions were a good size and the taste and quality were great. My only (small) criticisms were that the onion bhajis were a little oily and my wife commented that the dhansak was a little too spicy (or as she put it “it’s burning the bake off me!” 😂).

I will say it over and over this restraunt is the best Indian Iv ever had.Never have a problem and always good timing the Madras is way too nice! Only thing I would change is that the curries are a little too oily id like it a little thicker

Dhansak sauce was alright just. Way too hot for a Medium rating and not much of it. Plenty of chicken though. Was more like a hot chili sauce than a lentil inspired dhansak sauce.

food is excellent never had a problem with the food, but delivery drivers couldn't be anymore unpleasant, the driver phoning me to run across the road to get my own takeaway when I told him I already left a message on my order stating I have a young child and unable to leave on his own, I could tell the driver was not happy that I asked him to deliver to my door, I don't know what was wrong since I paid for the delivery charge. my apartment complex is definitely not confusing there are 2 floors and it's clearly sign posted outside. I've had this problem before so I rarely order due to this, shame because it is a really nice Indian.
