This is our family go-to for our takeaway night when we get together. In fact, we don't order indian anywhere else in Belfast because it has never let us down. Quality is second to none. Lamb Saag is my fav

I have to say, I used to really like East Bengal but the recent couple of takeaways have been super disappointing. The curry's are looking like they're watered down? They used to have a lovely thick sauce but now look at it. I think it's time to find another good Indian takeaway.

Absolute rip-off. Nearly £20 for king prawn tikka and I got 4 prawns?? With rice extra!! Food was dry and poor portions. Bill for 5 when 3 only had starters was £120, even being BYO. Poor food, poor portions, extortionate prices. Won’t be back.

Very friendly service food excellent restaurant in Ballyhackamore.

He estado aquí bastantes veces y suele ser bastante bueno. Desafortunadamente en mi visita más reciente me decepcionó mi pollo tikka masala. No tenía ningún sabor aparte de la sal. Los otros platos estaban bien. En general, el personal era amable y servicial.

The best indian in the east in my opinion. Not sure if they do delivery but I've been several times to sit in. It's BYO, not sure if they charge corkage. The portions are quite generous and I often can't finish the main if I get a starter. It can be busy so probably best to book on weekends. The table right at the back is a bit loud with the kitchen right behind so try to sit at the front if your hearing is iffy.

We had a beautiful meal in The East Bengal. The food is beautiful and very tasty. Staff are lovely and hard working. We nice starters and mains. Thank you.

The Lamb Rogan Josh is the best I have tasted since living in Manchester. Superb.

Just back from an amazing meal at The East Bengal. Being a Thursday night I assumed we didn't need to book and could just turn up, this paid off for us as we were able to get seated but the place was so busy (in a good way!) Its obviously very popular. Despite it being busy, the service was amazing, polite guys who couldnt do enough for you, the atmosphere was lovely and the best bit - the food was authentic and probably the best indian I've had in Northern Ireland. My friend and I will definitely be back, we travelled from Lisburn & Bangor for this restaurant and it was so worth the trip.

Small venue in an excellent location. Staff very courteous and attentive. Food was amazing, BYO helps!! Highly recommended...I'll definitely be back for more.

Recientemente descubrí que era intolerante al gluten - el personal era muy servicial y se tomó tiempo en el teléfono para ayudarme a seleccionar una opción sin gluten, mientras que también verificando dos veces con la cocina para asegurarse de que el pedido completo estaba libre de gluten. Sabroso delicioso, definitivamente estará regresando : )

Can't complain about anything. Every bit of food was delicious. Service was as good as it get.

I was exhausted all day looking for a late night dinner cause i haven’t eaten all day, searched in google and said it is open until 12mn. Ate and food was good but one of the kitchen staff came and practically told me to go because he “needs to go home too” I felt so bad and like a nuisance, it was 1115pm and even if i wasn’t finished with my food yet stood up and paid and went said i thought they close at 12, but they said google was wrong as they close at 11. They could have handled it better, like told me 10minutes before 11 it’s last order as they are closing (like what most restaurants do) I am not one to write a review, but I really felt bad after, like i was kicked off a restaurant. I had better indian food with the same price so their dish is nothing special.

My wife and I ate here recently. We were greeted at the door by our name as they were expecting us for our booking. A nice touch. Once settled in our seats we were offered glasses for our b.y.o. beer. Their menu is varied and has a good range of different curries and specials on it. The tapas starter for 2 is well recommended as it was delicious. Our mains were also tasty and served piping hot. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were very friendly and polite. We were also offered a complimentary sambucca and mint after the meal, which was nice touch. The only downside was their card machine went down during the evening and we had to pay cash. No reason to say we won’t be back soon.

Mi esposa y yo comimos aquí recientemente. Nos recibieron en la puerta por nuestro nombre, ya que nos estaban esperando para nuestra reserva. Un buen toque. Una vez instalados en nuestros asientos nos ofrecieron vasos para nuestra cerveza. Su menú es variado y tiene una buena gama de diferentes currys y especiales en él. El entrante de tapas para 2 está bien recomendado ya que estaba delicioso. Nuestras tuberías también eran sabrosas y servidas calientes. El personal no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros y era muy amable y educado. También nos ofrecieron una sambuca y menta de cortesía después de la comida, que fue un buen toque. La única desventaja era que su máquina de tarjetas se cayó durante la noche y tuvimos que pagar en efectivo. No hay razón para decir que no volveremos pronto.

Thee best service in town. Food absolutely delicious and service with such pride. Folks this is what hospitality is all about. Do not past it. A great asset to the community of Ballyhackmore. Well done guys we will be back. 👍👍

Amazing place with delicious food. Deffo recommend to everyone

Came here last night with a group of work colleagues, based on a local recommendation. Staff were friendly and welcoming, we hadnt booked but they found a table for us upstairs with no bother. Food was quite expensive but tasted very very good - I highly recommend the tandoori vision mixed grill, a lovely mix of different meats with a beautifully spiced sauce accompaniment. It is a bring your own restaurant, but there is a grocery store right next door, and a Tesco a short walk away, so no big deal. Would come here again.

Best Indian and friendliest staff in Belfast

Roy and Elaine go about every 3 weeks one Sunday night and it's very good the staff are great they could not do enough for you we have friends who have started to go and the loved

My friend and I ordered a curry each. He order peshwari naan and I ordered poppadoms. I ordered a diet coke. The bill came to £50.75! After I paid, one of the waiters came down and said to the guy at the till that I had paid the wrong bill. The guy at the till denied this. Either we got the wrong bill, or this place is too expensive. My food had a long back hair in it and the lamb had a few bones still in. I suppose this mistake can happen anywhere. Once I removed the debris, the curry was OK.

Takeaway online order collection was estimated 45 minutes. I arrived on time to collect and had to wait almost 20 minutes. Food was delicious though.

We had a really good evening. I had met a friend from England staying at Stormont hotel. Brought her here for meal. Never been before. Popdums were crispy with tasty dips. An onion one separate from other 3. Main meals were good. Plenty of chicken and a nice vegetable korma. A liqueur afterwards and a very attentive host waiter. I'll bring my husband back there very soon!

We ordered a delivery of a madras dish and a dupiaza dish. The madras was meant to be hot, but was very mild, sauce just tasted of boiled onions, maybe they forgot to put spice in it, the dupiaza was mild too, more like curry base, it was £36 for two delivery meals and one starter

Taste is perfect like, they ask u how much you want spice..thats good. You can dine in/delivery/takeaway your choice. Space is bit less so so takeaway is better option. Service is good management team is friendly. So place is recommended

Si estás por la zona y te gusta la comida hindú no lo dudes. Todo riquísimo. Es más barato para llevar que para comer ahí, pero si te quedas a comer, atienden bien y rápido. Un descubrimiento sensacional. Recomiendo el pollo kurma y el naan pashwari.

We tried The East Bengal on the spur of the moment and we're delighted by the friendly staff, top notch service and delicious food. The food tasted particularly fresh and surprisingly light for Indian food. Sauces were so nice I ordered a garlic naan half way through our meal. It came quickly and was possibly the nicest I've had: it was light and fluffy on top, crisp underneath. Perfect.

Lovely Meal, pleasant attentive staff and a complimentary Sambucca to finish the meal, what's not to love. We'll be back.

Best Indian restaurant in Belfast.

Excellent all round! Ended up here sort of by accident as we were out on a Monday night when apparently nearly everywhere else at Ballyhackamore closes, even in the week before Christmas. Anyway, it was a lucky break as the East Bengal did us proud with a lovely meal, beautifully served and absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back again.

Beautiful Cuisine and Warm Friendly Atmosphere We had initially visited a very nearby restaurant beforehand and left very unsatisfied... Walked across to the East Bengal and we're thrilled that we did! We hadn't booked but staff found us a table quickly. We had poppadoms and dips brought to us within a minute, and on looking at the menu were delighted with the amount of variety and different dishes we had never seen in other Indian restaurants. We live in South Belfast and eat in many different Indian restaurants, but this has to be the best! We had Tandoori Mixed Platter to start, then for main , East Bengal King Special with Pilau Rice. I noticed it was only marked as medium heat, and I asked for it to be prepared as hotter and this was not a problem at all. Absolutely delicious. The Peshawari nan to accompany was perfect. We Will be driving over from my home on the Lisburn Road to dine here again asap, I want to try out lots more of the menu! Thank you for your hospitality, can't wait to return!

Lovely Indian restaurant & food was delicious

Have been getting takeout from here for years. Always loved the food and the staff always very friendly. Took friend for sit in (Sat night). Same friendly staff, food lovely. BYOB (£2.50 per x4 beers). Had a great night but the bill was no where near the listed prices which was really disappointing given all the great things about this place. I notice others have mentioned this issue too. Sadly, we had the same experience and won’t be back because of this

Best Indian I have had in years

Best chicken bhuna I've ever had. Had a taste of the butter chicken also - delicious but too sweet for my taste. Lovely atmosphere and service. Definitely be back! Thank you 😊

Welcoming staff and quick service. Food was really nice.

Waited ages to be served, only 1 waiter covering upstairs and down, but even so, the wait was unmerited. Only got served when we got up to leave more than half an hour after we arrived. Wished we had left. Didn't much enjoy the food at all.

The food, the service was excellent, we were short for time as had a cinema booking and they made sure we were served quickly but not rushed and still made time to offer us complementary shots. Put simply this was THE best Indian I have had in a very long time! The service was exceptional, the food was fresh, very tasty and authentic. I came all the way from Cookstown to bring my daughter to a concert and meet a friend otherwise I wouldn't have known about this gem. I will definitely be back. It's a BYOB restaurant btw

We had a lovely meal ... couldn't fault any of the food or the service .... The best Indian food I've ever had ... it takes time to come, but not overly long, and is worth the wait for the freshness .... highly recommend.

Just finished one of the most delicious curries I've ever had. What a great little restaurant The East Bengal is. The really friendly staff were only too happy to make sure that my daughter's choice was gluten free. Reading the menu it clearly stated to speak to staff about allergies. While sitting we noticed that people were able to bring their own drink ...I'm unsure how much corkage was. My daughter and I really enjoyed our meals and the excellent service .I can highly recommend the king prawn bhuna and the mushroom rice. My daughter chose the Chicken Korma and enjoyed her meal.We will definitely be back again!

Very slow with the service 45 mins to order, then waiting for starter for two people only one turnover up, main corse was slow had to chase it up...

I'm not a lover of Indian food but my partner is. He loves this place so I had to come along. What a surprise. Lovely staff and now my favourite dish is chicken Dhansak. I've tried it in a few other places but never as good as here. We've dined in and the added bonus is BYOB. We've also ordered delivery with no issues. Reasonably priced and great quality. Service superb. 👍

One of the best Indian takeaways I've had!

The best curry I have had in years. Great customer service too. I had the mixed grill and it was a tour de force.

Tasty mains. Onion bhaji maybe slightly overdone, and the naan breads slightly under-done, but didn't detract from the gorgeous curries. Will definitely be back!

Travelled from London to visit Belfast for a day and had dinner over here. We love the dishes and highly recommended if anyone fancy of Indian halal food!

The best tasting Indian food in the country

The food is great (probably the best takeaway Indian I've had), but the takeaway service is terrible. We ordered 2 curries and a naan at 7pm, was given a 50min delivery time. It took 2 and a quarter hours to arrive and we didn't even get an apology (we phoned after an hour an 45mins and were told it was 10 minutes away). Sadly will not be ordering from here again, this is the second time it's been incredibly slow.

The food is amazing and well worth it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the delivery service is atrocious. For example, food was supposed to be delivered at 17:20, it's now nearly 18:00 and still not here.
