Roy and Elaine go about every 3 weeks one Sunday night and it's very good the staff are great they could not do enough for you we have friends who have started to go and the loved

My friend and I ordered a curry each. He order peshwari naan and I ordered poppadoms. I ordered a diet coke. The bill came to £50.75! After I paid, one of the waiters came down and said to the guy at the till that I had paid the wrong bill. The guy at the till denied this. Either we got the wrong bill, or this place is too expensive. My food had a long back hair in it and the lamb had a few bones still in. I suppose this mistake can happen anywhere. Once I removed the debris, the curry was OK.

Takeaway online order collection was estimated 45 minutes. I arrived on time to collect and had to wait almost 20 minutes. Food was delicious though.

Taste is perfect like, they ask u how much you want spice..thats good. You can dine in/delivery/takeaway your choice. Space is bit less so so takeaway is better option. Service is good management team is friendly. So place is recommended

We tried The East Bengal on the spur of the moment and we're delighted by the friendly staff, top notch service and delicious food. The food tasted particularly fresh and surprisingly light for Indian food. Sauces were so nice I ordered a garlic naan half way through our meal. It came quickly and was possibly the nicest I've had: it was light and fluffy on top, crisp underneath. Perfect.

Lovely Meal, pleasant attentive staff and a complimentary Sambucca to finish the meal, what's not to love. We'll be back.

Best Indian restaurant in Belfast.

Excellent all round! Ended up here sort of by accident as we were out on a Monday night when apparently nearly everywhere else at Ballyhackamore closes, even in the week before Christmas. Anyway, it was a lucky break as the East Bengal did us proud with a lovely meal, beautifully served and absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back again.

Beautiful Cuisine and Warm Friendly Atmosphere We had initially visited a very nearby restaurant beforehand and left very unsatisfied... Walked across to the East Bengal and we're thrilled that we did! We hadn't booked but staff found us a table quickly. We had poppadoms and dips brought to us within a minute, and on looking at the menu were delighted with the amount of variety and different dishes we had never seen in other Indian restaurants. We live in South Belfast and eat in many different Indian restaurants, but this has to be the best! We had Tandoori Mixed Platter to start, then for main , East Bengal King Special with Pilau Rice. I noticed it was only marked as medium heat, and I asked for it to be prepared as hotter and this was not a problem at all. Absolutely delicious. The Peshawari nan to accompany was perfect. We Will be driving over from my home on the Lisburn Road to dine here again asap, I want to try out lots more of the menu! Thank you for your hospitality, can't wait to return!

Lovely Indian restaurant & food was delicious

Have been getting takeout from here for years. Always loved the food and the staff always very friendly. Took friend for sit in (Sat night). Same friendly staff, food lovely. BYOB (£2.50 per x4 beers). Had a great night but the bill was no where near the listed prices which was really disappointing given all the great things about this place. I notice others have mentioned this issue too. Sadly, we had the same experience and won’t be back because of this

Best chicken bhuna I've ever had. Had a taste of the butter chicken also - delicious but too sweet for my taste. Lovely atmosphere and service. Definitely be back! Thank you 😊

Waited ages to be served, only 1 waiter covering upstairs and down, but even so, the wait was unmerited. Only got served when we got up to leave more than half an hour after we arrived. Wished we had left. Didn't much enjoy the food at all.

Great meal, the best chicken pathia around. The food, the service was excellent, we were short for time as had a cinema booking and they made sure we were served quickly but not rushed and still made time to offer us complementary shots. Put simply this was THE best Indian I have had in a very long time! The service was exceptional, the food was fresh, very tasty and authentic. I came all the way from Cookstown to bring my daughter to a concert and meet a friend otherwise I wouldn't have known about this gem. I will definitely be back. It's a BYOB restaurant btw

We had a lovely meal ... couldn't fault any of the food or the service .... The best Indian food I've ever had ... it takes time to come, but not overly long, and is worth the wait for the freshness .... highly recommend.

This place is my 'go to' Indian. I ordered from here tonight and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and it's ready quickly. I would highly recommend.

Just finished one of the most delicious curries I've ever had. What a great little restaurant The East Bengal is. The really friendly staff were only too happy to make sure that my daughter's choice was gluten free. Reading the menu it clearly stated to speak to staff about allergies. While sitting we noticed that people were able to bring their own drink ...I'm unsure how much corkage was. My daughter and I really enjoyed our meals and the excellent service .I can highly recommend the king prawn bhuna and the mushroom rice. My daughter chose the Chicken Korma and enjoyed her meal.We will definitely be back again!

The best Indian I've had in a long time!

I'm not a lover of Indian food but my partner is. He loves this place so I had to come along. What a surprise. Lovely staff and now my favourite dish is chicken Dhansak. I've tried it in a few other places but never as good as here. We've dined in and the added bonus is BYOB. We've also ordered delivery with no issues. Reasonably priced and great quality. Service superb. 👍

One of the best Indian takeaways I've had!

The best curry I have had in years. Great customer service too. I had the mixed grill and it was a tour de force.

Tasty mains. Onion bhaji maybe slightly overdone, and the naan breads slightly under-done, but didn't detract from the gorgeous curries. Will definitely be back!

Travelled from London to visit Belfast for a day and had dinner over here. We love the dishes and highly recommended if anyone fancy of Indian halal food!

The best tasting Indian food in the country

The food is great (probably the best takeaway Indian I've had), but the takeaway service is terrible. We ordered 2 curries and a naan at 7pm, was given a 50min delivery time. It took 2 and a quarter hours to arrive and we didn't even get an apology (we phoned after an hour an 45mins and were told it was 10 minutes away). Sadly will not be ordering from here again, this is the second time it's been incredibly slow.

The food is amazing and well worth it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the delivery service is atrocious. For example, food was supposed to be delivered at 17:20, it's now nearly 18:00 and still not here.

Simply put - Incredible Indian food with excellent customer service. There are plenty of places to eat in Ballyhackamore but The East Bengal is quickly becoming our favourite option for eating in or taking away and without doubt our favourite Indian restaurant. Not only is the food delicious but the staff make the dining experience so much more enjoyable. Our waiter is always super friendly and incredibly helpful when wanting to find out about different dishes. I would definitely recommend ordering the East Bengal Supreme from the appetiser menu. Absolutely delighted to have this gem of a restaurant open in Ballyhackamore. Looking forward to my next visit already!

Enjoyed a meal here about a week ago. Great to see this restaurant back in Ballyhack, used to enjoy going to it in its previous incarnation as The Jasmine. Service was excellent very friendly, attentive staff. No issues providing me with a dairy free, vegetarian meal. Our meals were flavoursome, well presented & of such generous portion size that we couldn't quite finish them!

The East Bengal We had seen good reviews for this Indian restaurant and as it’s new in the area we wanted to give it a try. As we walked through Ballyhackamore, many of the other restaurants seemed busy on this particular day (possibly due to it being the last Sunday before people return to the normal work routine after the Christmas festivities) - but The East Bengal was empty - we wondered why? We had a warm welcome from the guys in the restaurant and offered a choice of seat. The decor was really well thought out - but please, East Bengal, do away with the modern chart music in the background. We’d much rather have some Indian music playing (which they did play towards the end of our meal- perhaps they overheard us!) The menu was clearly laid out and there was a traditionally familiar choice of Indian food. So what did we order? Starters Poppadoms Mixed veg starter Garlic prawns Mains Mas Bangla Roshoi - (salmon) Paneer Shaslick Lentil Dhal Coriander garlic naan (this wasn’t on the menu but they made one for us ) and a pilau rice. We didn’t order poppadoms, but were asked if we wanted some (knowing this was most likely to be an up-sell, we still said yes). When the bill came we were, as we expected, charged for the poppadoms which is fair enough but many other Indian restaurants just offer these for free which is always a nice idea, and a gesture which The East Bengal should consider. The Garlic Prawns were amazing, with subtle spicing and a good hit of garlic. The mixed vegetarian starter included samosa, onion bhaji and vegetable pakora, which were all freshly made. Surprisingly, the ubiquitous quarter of tomato, lettuce and lemon were conspicuous by their absence, and this starter was all the better for it. Both mains were superb - the salmon was cooked brilliantly with a gorgeous coating of spices. The Paneer was chunky and generously portioned-charred to perfection in a tandoori oven and accompanied by a tangy sauce. In conclusion, all the food was really great: one of the best Indian meals we have had in Belfast in quite some time. The restaurant is BYOB, which of course helps keep costs down, especially appreciated in the bleak post- Christmas months. However, the restaurant had little atmosphere, probably due to the puzzling lack of customers. The food was second to none. I had a lamb madras which was not only hot but equally flavoursome. Friendly staff and a nine quiet place to enjoy your meal.
