Awful manager, really rude. Said wrap it up and get rid about us the cheek. Food was not nice. Slow service. Had to ask for glasses , cake etc . Really inadequate and the mangers attitude was appalling. Wouldn’t go again.

Staff not friendly at all on the verge of rude. Restaurant was hot and stuffy. The toilets smelt really bad. Food bland. Not for me.

The staff were not welcoming or friendly. The booth we were offered was cramped and the seating was dirty. We should have left then TBH. The food order was taken in a very bored manner and arrived in good time. It didn’t look appealing at all. All very grey looking. The meat in the food I had was quite tough. I suspect it was bits of old meat re-heated, My wife said the same. The flavour was unexciting and bland. The rice was over cooked and a little greasy. The desserts were delivered to the table over a ten minute period. So we were left waiting. Very poor overall. Won’t be going again.

My husband and my son went for a curry here last night. They had some starters, naan and a curry each. I should emphasise that they are seasoned curry eaters. My husband has been visiting Bradford for curries for over fifty years! Last night, the bill for the above was in the region of £50, there was an unauthorised service charge and one of the curries was inedible. My son took two mouthfuls and left the rest which frankly is unheard of. The Karachi in Bradford and The International in Bradford are excellent restaurants with fabulous decent cheap curries and Azeems in Keighley is superb too. I have had a takeaway curry from The Shimla in Burnley in the past - a Korma, and it was horrible - just sugary. We will not be returning here no matter how much we would like a curry! These curries for us - are not up to par or authentically cooked by any stretch!

Called in here after a hard day at work and ordered our usual food. I had mushroom Balti and my OH had a veg Jalfrezi, we both had veggie samosa to start. Food came with all the trimmings and was well cooked and piping hot. Always such large portions that this time , we ordered only 1 rice between the 2 of us and STILL had to take some home! But apart from the brilliant food, it is the staff who work there who make it special. They are kind, calm, lovely people who make just an ordinary day feel special.

We went for a meal tonight and it was amazing. From the moment we got there the service was excellent and we were looked after all night. The starters were really tasty and really big portions. The main meal was delicious and we all really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend a meal here.

When I visit from Scotland, there’s nothing better than a quick call for a Shimla Spice takeaway for my family. Everyone is friendly, delivery is as promised and the food is amazing and unsurpassed value for money. I rarely write reviews these days but this is great restaurant food on takeaway. Still waiting for expansion to Kilmarnock. You’ll make a killing! Thank you.

We absolutely love this place! It's my partners favourite takeaway, and everyone is so helpful and kind every time we come in. I can not recommend their food enough. A naan should always be the side of my torso!

We had a pre-booked table for 8 people, and it was pretty chaotic. Some of us ordered starters and some didn’t. So when they came, we had an extra chicken tikka for some reason. And someone’s main mixed grill came with the starters instead of mains. Then when the mains arrived that same person got ANOTHER mixed grill which was very confusing. The curries weren’t the best either, also weirdest version of a chicken korma I’ve ever seen, usually just chicken but it had sultanas and all sorts in it. The service was pretty poor, quite rude really, just throwing stuff on the table almost. Won’t be returning here in a hurry, which is a shame because In the past we’ve always spoke highly of it.

Large restaurant but quickly got very busy (Saturday night) so obviously popular. Lots of staff all very friendly and helpful. Because they were so busy I did need to attract their attention, but then they would come very quickly. Food was excellent. I didn’t have one but be warned the nan is the size of a pillow case. Probably not one each. Not licensed but lots of people had brought their own drinks with them

Visited for about the 5th time on Saturday night having booked a table. As soon as we sat down the waiter asked for our order gave us no time. Starters were excellent but the Dhansak and Tikka Massala were very tasteless and disappointing. After eating we were again rushed by our waiter probably as there was a huge queue waiting for tables. It's a shame we had this poor experience as we have had some great meals here. When up for the football will now look for another match day restaurant.

Absolutely beautiful, the best tikka masala I’ve ever eaten, all food was hot and tasted so fresh, really enjoyable and great value for money, Thankyou so much! Staff were so friendly and attentive.

Visited for the first time two weeks ago. All the food was fantastic, hot and fresh! Staff were really chatty and helpful especially the owners son. Have since ordered a takeaway which was equally as nice. Will definitely return, highly recommended.

Visited for a birthday dinner, turns out to be the worst birthday ever with terrible food and service. Arrived on time and had to wait half an hour just for the staff down, and they the plates to our table which were dirty, and then proceeded to clean them in front of us with a cloth. And yet when we gave them back and asked for clean plates, they pretended to clean them and give us new ones, but instead gave us the same dirty plates. The glasses were then brought out and again were dirty, one guest even received a glass with a lipstick stain from a previous customer already on it! Then it was time for the food. Absurdly, the starters arrived at the same time as the main course. This was confusing to all of us on what to eat first, as starters as supposed to come before the mains. Then we began eating, and the meat was old overcooked and did not taste fresh. THEN, one of us found a BIG PLASTIC PIECE in a lamb shank. To top it all off, the guest kept eating and found ANOTHER even bigger piece of plastic in the food. The naan bread holders was also all dusty and dirty, this place had no hygiene at all. We were all DISGUSTED and lost our appetites immediately, scared to find even more objects in the food. While eating, it didn’t help the table was broken and kept wobbling making it hard to eat. The audacity of the staff acting all arrogant and displeased that we had some serious issues with our service, also made us uncomfortable. The entire birthday dinner was absolutely ruined, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else unless you want diarrhoea and terrible service. I hate to leave bad reviews but this night was abysmal and anyone wanting to go here should be warned.

Pre booked a table for 14 people, shocking service and waiting times. Waited about 30 minutes for starters to arrive, one of them was wrong so 1 person had to wait longer , another 60 minutes for main course to arrive, ordered 2 family nann breads, got 2 regular sized ones, no chips arrived which were ordered, and extra rice arrived which we didn’t order and then they tried to charge us for everything , even the things that we didn’t get ! Pointed it out and yes it was rectified but it shouldn’t happen. Had to ask for cutlery, I know there was 14 of us but we were crammed onto a table for about 12 people so no one could move ! If the food was out of this world then there would be no complaint ! It was just ok, won’t return in a hurry .

something a bit different. First time I have been in here for well over a decade, not even sure if it was the same name back then. Plenty of choice, decent service. I tried something I hadnt had before and whilst it was well cooked and there was plenty of it, it wasnt for me. Tried a bit of the dish my wife had ordered and that was great. No alcohol on sale puts me off a little but I did notice a couple of tables had brought their own.

We absolutely love Shimla spice. We eat there 2 or 3 times a month and have done since it opened. Our food is always hot and delicious. The guys who work there are friendly and welcoming. This is our favourite place to eat as a couple but also with our family. Great place to take children too!

On a stormy Sunday night Shimla Spice was a welcoming place to find. We had a very tasty meal, the best vegetable curry I've had in long while (vegetable Balti with paneer) and my partner had a tasty chicken & keema dish. The vegetable Balti featured aubergine and cauliflower which was lovely since often restaurants just add a lot of cabbage & carrot. The spinach and potato side dish was excellent too, and the naan was huge! Service was friendly and helpful.

The service was average, we sat for ten minutes and asked for a menu, I ordered a King prawn Bhuna my friend ordered the lamb. The king prawns were overcooked, rubbery sat in a tastless watery curry sauce, my friends lamb tasted of nothing and the lamb was tender but not spiced how you would expect an Indian meal to be.

Never had such bad service. Very overpriced for a takeaway but our usual takeaway was closed. I do realise the restaurant was under pressure and very busy but surely they should of stopped taking orders . We asked for an 8 o'clock delivery which didnt arrive , had update from just eat starting delayed til 9pm. Still didn't arrive. We contacted shimla 3 times and each time were told our food was on it's way. Tried to cancel when it still didn't arrive but shimla had stopped answering calls. Finally arrived at 10.30pm with only half the order. Very expensive £47 which was £20 more than our usual takeaway . Fortunately we ordered through just eat and given a full refund 7 days later .Never again.

Got a takeaway and it was overall disappointing. Ridiculously overpriced, especially considering none of the food was that great. Onion bhajis were salty, asked for mango chutney (95p) and we didn't get any but did receive 3 yoghurt dips that we later realised we paid £2.10 for, curry was bland and tasteless and chicken rolls simply were not nice at all. Naan bread was decent however not amazing enough to save an incredibly disappointing meal.

I ordered a chicken tikka masala with garlic rice - delicious! My family had two large naan breads that tasted lovely and definitely filled me up!However, I ordered a coke and they poured it out of a two litre bottle - not pleasant. Staff could be a tad bit friendlier, but my night was not ruined. I will be coming back. A great place for a lovely Indian meal.

Quite possibly the worst service and curry I have had, the food came nearly 2 hours after I ordered. When it arrived, we barely had enough food, my wife had 3 prawns, I had 5 small pieces of chicken and the same for my son, in a tasteless sauce. Never will I order from them again.

We have ordered and picked up food and had it delivered on a few occasions. It’s a regular occurrence for part of the meal to be missing. The last time we ordered and it happened I rang and he was quite rude on the phone. Check your orders before you leave the restaurant or let the delivery person leave. I will not be ordering from here again.

Absolutely loved the food, cannot fault it at all, delicious desi style. Service was not good though! Ordered drinks, they brought 1 after few minutes, which is fine but after 10 minutes wondering where the other drinks were, had to ask them and then they brought the others. They do not seem to be very organised or have the sense to know that when you come as family/group you expect to be served at the same time and not someone’s dish coming 10 minutes later than when the first person got theirs! Had to go find a waiter to order dessert even though the place was pretty empty by this time. Not really the sort of service expected when dining out so was a big let down which is a shame because the food is fantastic. Don’t know if there was a staff shortage on this particular day but def needs organising and managing better. Would of given top rates for this place but the service was a massive let down.

We visited on New Year's day expecting to order take away but the restaurant was very quiet so we decided to eat there. The food was delicious, we certainly weren't rushed, in fact there was a bit of a delay before our main course was served and the staff were helpful. We were happy enough not to have alcohol too.

Twice this month I have ordered from Shimla Spice and twice they have messed up big time. First order was nearly 2 hours to be delivered. I phoned them twice only to be told the delivery was 5 minutes away....clearly an outright lie as on the third phone call they said the driver was lost.....I live not even 10 mins from the restaurant! The second delivery, which took over an hour, only half the order was delivered, some had gone to another house! So by the time it arrived it was cold! Ok the food is good, but the service is disgusting. I would recommend that you do not ever order a takeaway from these delivery cowboys!

We went to The Shimla on a wet Saturday night fortunately we managed to park within feet of the door so didn’t get too wet and once inside we soon warmed up. The place was packed it was obviously a very popular place.Started off with the poppadoms but had to ask for extra dips to go with them.I had ordered the meat jalfrezi which was very tasty but extremely hot compared to the ones I’ve had before, so hot that I had to ask for water with it, which was a first for me. The table next to ours was very noisy and lots of children in and out so that didn’t help along with the overall noise levels. It wasn’t the best night I’ve had at an Indian, the company excepted. Maybe I’ll give it a try when it’s likely to be a bit quieter.

No complaints with food at all. In fact it was excellent for our group with a huge family naan bread!

Service was shocking, very rude waiter stood behind us and said “ screaming like animals” to us within only five minutes of being there when we were laughing together. Food was ok. Wouldn’t take our money because we wanted to pay separate ,we had to take the calculator and work out the bill ourselves and would only take our money if We would of paid £20 each when it was around £14/£16 each, try to rip us of, while he was shouting at us for the £20 each,one waiter poured our old touched sweets you get at the end back in the clean sweets for next costumers to have. Only go here If you want to be abused and made to feel unwelcome!

Placed an order at 9:01, got a call back at 9:57 saying they ran out of all the meat and would i still like my chapptis and nan. The worker was very rude and didn’t apologise even once!. Only god knows how they still running with staff like that.

Never been disappointed with the food and service at this town centre restaurant. The choice is amazing and the ingredients fresh and tasty. Only a few parking spaces available but easily walkable from the town centre. Take your own drink which for me is a negative because I prefer draught lager with my curry dishes but if you prefer wine you are quids in. Try the Naan bread which comes on a neat metal hanger.

A nicely decorated restaurant located in a run down area of Burnley. No licence but on the short walk to the rather poor off licence you feel like you're in a third world city. Anyway, staff were friendly but the food was pretty average. I had high Hope's for Burnley, but this one doesn't warrant a return trip, so my quest to find an outstanding curry restaurant continues

Since our first visit to Shimla Spice a couple of weeks after it first opened we have been regular visitors, at least 2/3 times a month. Always welcomed by friendly staff and made to feel like valued customers. Food excellent, especially the Mirpuri! I can’t recommend this place enough!

This is one of the tastiest Indian meals I’ve had. There was an extensive choice of dishes for every palette. Poppadums are complimentary when you are seated which is a nice touch. Food portions are just right except for the naans, they are ridiculously huge. Quite why anyone would want to fill up on bread when you have a delicious curry to enjoy is beyond me! The service was good and the wait staff friendly and efficient.

Went for husband 50th birthday with family and friends. Made very welcome service excellent. We were in an early slot at 6 so wasn't too busy. Threw in a sparkler and ice cream for hubsters birthday and gave him a card with a photo in it too, nice touch! I had the mixed starter which was just ok and mixed saagwala which was super tasty with juicy king prawns and tender lamb, no fat. The hanging naan breads are excellent! Would recommend

The food here is great, I’ve never had a bad meal here. The service sometimes feels a little rushed. As though they are trying to get you to shove the food down rather than letting you take your time.

Food wasn’t horrendous but nothing exceptional. However customer service was poor, when taking my order the waiter knocked over my poppadoms and then picked them up with his hands onto the dish and just smiled. I then found a black curly hair in my chicken, however was offered my drinks for free due to this. Very cheap price.

My colleagues and I visited Shimla Spice earlier in the week. The restaurant looks beautiful and it was fairly busy considering how early in the day it was. The food however was served in big portions but, seemed generic. My colleague didn't enjoy the consistency of the chicken and whilst the naan breads were huge, they were not the most tasty. Two of us are from Leicester and love authentic curry, our choices were questioned when we ordered because the dishes were served in a unique way. It was slightly annoying as the menu clearly stated how the food was served. Its bring your own beer and wine and was reasonably priced. Quantity over quality in my opinion but worth a visit if you are in the area.

This is the second time we've ordered takeout from Shimla and yet again the curries are awesome! We ordered from just eat as didn't fancy cooking and had Balti chicken Tikka with pilau rice. The menu choice is brilliant and the quality of the food second to none. Really 'clean' tasting and not full of oil. Flavours are amazing and portion sizes just right- you don't get over loaded with food. Looking forward to trying the restaurant! Hands down the best Indian takeaway we've had.

First time coming here and I wasn’t disappointed, the food and service was excellent, could fault a thing with either the only downside in my eyes was the music in the background, it was one track repeated over and over again, and in the end was starting to annoy me but definitely wouldn’t stop me coming back for a meal

I love this restaurant. The food is always really consistently good. I had the prawn partha and it was really tasty with loads of prawns. The chicken achari is probably the best I've ever had. The family nan is really good. There are always loads of waiters on and the service is good. Prices are reasonable too. The icing on the cake was a beautiful pink rose presented to all the mums... Looking for a Pakistani food restaurant in Burnley, we were guide to Shimla Spice and we were so glad to be there. We ordered prawn masala, chicken tikka, mutton balti and dhal (lentils) along with the naan bread. Everything was very well cooked, just the right combination of spices. We were impressed to see the large sized naans that were served to us on a stand. That was unique..... never saw a naan served in this manner whole my life.

What a great place. The room is tasteful and quite large. There were many staff and most were very friendly and welcoming. Starter (mix) and main (prawn sag) were absolutely brilliant. I will return as soon as I get back to Burnley. Job well done! Why no wine?

I think the atmosphere at Shimla is great. I love how you can take your own alcohol which obviously brings the cost of your meal down and the food is great. The naan bread is huge and i love that! Ive been here on more than one occassion and each time has been fab.

Didnt book but managed to get a table. Great friendly waiters on the ball good service. We ordered. Wasnt overkeen my on my starter but it wasnt excactly what i wanted which was a prawn puri. But i had a paratha too much bread for me. However my main was very good. Chicken karai and sultana and almond rice. The garlic naan bread the others ordered were huge !! came on a hanging spike they were execellent.

We attended here for a works meal, 13 of us in total. We waited for ages for the food to arrive and when it did my chicken tikka masala was disgusting. It smelt off and was a horrible brown colour. My friend asked one of the waiters to replace it. I was then addressed by an extremely rude and arrogant young man who demanded to know what it was I didn't like about it. I tried to explain however he would not listen and venomously asked if if even eaten chicken tikka masala before. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Eventually, after making me feel extremely uncomfortable he took the meal away in disgust. I Will not be returning here and will ensure my wide network of friends, family and business associate's are aware of my terrible and upsetting experience.

The only table they had left,even though we booked two days earlier,was in a corner next to the kitchen,not impressed. The meal was nice & well cooked,but I must admit I’ve had better. The service was very good & the waiter was very polite.

Hands down best curry we've had. Superb service, waiters were over straight away and around whenever we had finished or needed to order. The food was divine. Great atmosphere even with a big party next to us. Authentic decor and music, overall superb would definitely recommend.

We had a table for eight booked for Thursday. Half an hour before we were due we had a call and they asked if the booking was for tonight or tomorrow. We said tonight, Shimla Spice person said "oh s**t". Not very nice or professional.

I am in Burnley on business, so I was excited to have a great Curry, there was the Aroma, or over the road the Shimla Spice which claims on the window "Best chef 2018, best team 2018" well it has to be good doesn't it? "No it doesn't" firstly you are not made aware you need to bring your own alcohol!

Went on Halloween with a friend.Made very welcome,(only good point).Weasked for tea and when it arrived only 1 pot. Took ages for waiter to come and take our order.Popadoms on table but only one sauce ?.Asked for more water for the teapot and when it arrived it had extra teabags? Starter Chicken chaat was pitiful, really small pieces of chicken.When the mains arrived my friend was served my rice and the waiters english was woeful. The dish my friend had he couldn't get it down, he even commented that he'd never had shashlik like it.A couple on the next table to us arrived after us and were gone before us. Talk about slow service.Will not be going again

I came to Burnley for the weekend with a work colleague, we had walked past this restaurant the night before and saw it looked good.

The food took an extreme amout of time to arrive n when it did it was cold if you want a good experience dont bother ordering from here.the portions were also extreamly small compared to previous orders. This used to be my favouritev resteruant but I won't be ordering again any time soon if ever again. If I could have give a zero rating I would havevsone

Was in the area, a quick search for a Halal place to eat came up with Shimla. Didn't even book. Got popodums & 2 sauces when we sat down. Ordered a chicken sizzler and Lamb Karahi with naan. One Naan is enormous. Lol. Chicken sizzler was nice. Salad was very basic. Lamb Karahi was absolutely delicious!! Workers were very friendly and gave great advise for the asian palate. Does a lot of different curries mainly, only 3 sizzlers, quite afew starters and extras. Quick advise for some Muslims who this will matter to, they do allow alcohol.

Dreadfully rude driver - food ok by only warm. Emailed them but have had no response at all never mind an apology!!! I will never use these people again. The Keighley restaurant was always superb so this has been disappointing.

i went with my hubby for dinner and by chance we hit the gold food is very nice and service also good.highly recommend to everyone

Been here a few times now. Always busy so booking is advised. Take your own alcohol which is a great idea. Food and service is excellent. The restaurant is fabulous, grand and clean. Staff are lovely and friendly. Highly recommended.

Food wasn't that tasty. We had masala fish (overcooked) and desi fried fish (lacked juice)... The jaipur lamb was OK and not too spicy as stated on the menu. The egg fried rice were very oily. Wouldn't mind chips and a curry from here but then again you can't go wrong with chips...

Absolutely appalling service, waited 15/30 mins for a table when the restaurant was evidently empty....Took ages to bring plates out and when they did we found a dead ant in the plate, informed the manager he took the plate without apologising and did not return....Food arrived and we had no plates for 10 minutes by now food had turned cold, went to over to him to speak to the manager and he made excuse after excuse still not apologetic....No manners or even basic service.We chose to leave and as we left he told his employees “let them go”.....Absolute disgrace, really need to look into management and consider employing people with some respect and understanding of customer service.I further contacted the ‘owners’ and was just disrespected even more and told nothing could be done. I will be taking this forward. As a matter of a fact we did actually go elsewhere and enjoyed a tasty meal where workers delievered a brilliant and respectful service.
