Shimla Cottage in North Lanarkshire

The Shimla cottage indian restaurant is a great place to go with family.the staff are very friendly and the low asian music helps the atmosphere be calm.the food is always very tasty and prices are very good but currys is rather small amounts in my opinion.i still highly recommend you try it out.

It's an amazing place for prayer and amazing masjid and it's a rich library which men and women could use for there knowledge . Being here is an amazing experience

5 of us ladies went for an evening meal here. We had a warm welcome and great service from start to finish. The food was amazing, we were recommended dishes we had never tried, we enjoyed them all. It took us out of our comfort zone of always ordering the same food. We will definitely be eating here again.

Though a tasty dish it was lacking in the content of Lamb. There was around ten very small cubes of lamb in this dish which was mostly sauce. very disappointing considering this has always been my go to for an Indian carry out.

Poor, ok it was Monday evening, however the food wasn’t inspired and the gentleman serving wished he could be anywhere else other than there. Food tasted like a very basic base curry with no enthusiasm for flavour! Looked great inside and they served Lal Toofan beer which is very hard to get!

Mushy sauce nothing tasted fresh.undercooked naan with so much garlic it was sickening.not good Indian food.

Visited Shimla Cottage restaurant last night as a couple. Staff very attentive. Ordered Chicken Tandoori which came sizzling to the table. Partner had Beef Tika which were both delicious. The quantity was perfect for us. Overall, I would highly recommend the Shimla. Excellent value as well. X

Go regularly to the shimla but last night food really disappointed was lovely last week but this week chicken tikka was like rubber and very tough couldn't eat it really disappointed

Portions have shrunk while possibly being one of the more expensive carry outs in the area.

Delivery was estimated half an to 50 minutes over an hour and half later still no delivery absolutely ridiculous service

This restaurant was highly recommended by friends and family, so we decided to venture over Firstly the service is very good from start to finish, very attentive and prompt, the decor and music is good with the theme of Indian restaurant, but as for the food it lacks attention.. Rather over priced, 5 small pieces of mixed Indian pakora £5.75.. small two dips, three pieces of slice onion and a leaf of lettuce.. Then the curry, they must use the same gravy for everything, then just add colour to brighten it up...6 pieces of lamb slightly tough and tasteless, the rice itself needed a lot of seasoning, I've never been in an Indian restaurant and used salt and pepper.. the nan breads were very good.. Sorry can't recommend this restaurant but only my visit..maybe an off day..

Eat here every time we're in Coatbridge and can't fault it at all,the food and service are amazing. We have never had a bad meal here and always try different foods. Definitely can't wait to eat here again as soon as we're back and it's worth driving from Carlisle for! Excellent as always.

chicken pakora was thin and tuff and definitely not worth the money. Not enough chicken in the tikka aswell 😕

We went as a family of 3 on Wednesday evening. We ordered the dinner for 3 sit in deal. There was plenty of food for the 3 of us, very tasty & excellent value all round. Definitely the best Indian in and around Coatbridge, IMO.

Good evening, Had a take away on Saturday at 4.30pm, Manager was doing training and had to wait for order to be taken, waited 10min. Food was not fit for a dog.

Did not receive my drink with my order last night and have only just realised I should have got it with part of the meal deal

This was our first visit to the restaurant. We attended as two adults and two children aged 3 years and 6 months. It was also our first restaurant outing as a family of four. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu dishes were plenty. We had a chicken dish and a spinach dish with biryani and naan. A bowl of fries was also there just incase my daughter didn’t want to eat the Indian food but she liked the chicken dish. Nice background music. Ample parking which is why we’ve stopped going to our usual restaurant in Central Glasgow. Will come again

From time from order to deliver it was about 1 and half hours the rice was in a bag and tie tight so when try to open the bag to get the rice out half of it goes everywhere i ordered the south indian garlic chil chicken but it was not never taste the garlic or the chil also everything was freezeing will be my 1st and last time order from hear

food excellent just 1 complaint naan bread too thin more like a poppadom in places.

Best Indian in Coatbridge. Great food and great service. I go to this restaurant quite regularly with the Mrs for both the lunch and dinner menu. The lunch menu is very good value for money and quickly served up by the incredible serving staff. We have always been very happy with the food served and the staff are always amazing. Highly recommended.

Takeaway: This was supposed to be butter chicken. Tasteless and full of red dye which I’m never seen. Spent £32 mains and a kids nuggets. The 2 mains have been left.

Genuinely haven't had any issues with Shimla before but for this order we had 2 different meals and both were extremely runny curries, where there's ~3mm of fluid sloshing about the plate. We thought it was potentially a one-off (these things sometimes happen) until we ordered 2 weeks later.

Another pair of extremely runny curries, and again two different meals. Taste wise it's nice but I don't expect my curries to resemble pools of water. Have had no issues with Shimla in the past but whatever they're doing in recent week with these particular dishes isn't great. Please improve them.

Nothing specifically bad to say at all my experience was amazing the staff were nice and had a bit of personality and very cheerful food took about 30mins to come although it was quite busy the day I went so I'd say amazing job and yummy food

Best Indian restaurant in Coatbridge😍 🥰We were here for the first time, but we really liked everything! We will definitely try other dishes. 🍲Ordered Fish & Veg Pakora, Chicken Tikka & Prawn Karahi, Chicken Tikka Shashlik. 🌶️All dishes are pleasantly spicy, warming and with spices. Lots of vegetables and amazingly delicious sauces. 🔥You can always ask for the dish to be made even spicier) 🛍️You can also ask to pack your food with you. The portions were large and we could only eat half. They kindly wrapped the rest for us) 🕌The atmosphere of the restaurant is a special highlight. Warm interior and Indian music. Smells nice of spices✨ 😌The menu is very large and we will definitely return to try other dishes I recommend💖

The staff and service was excellent, fast, friendly and efficient. The food was ok. Chicken poori was disappointing. The Chicken was rubbery in a radioactive red sauce and the salad was not the freshest. The Chicken Tikka Chasni tasted nice but the sauce was way too thin and not a lot of chicken tikka. The peshwari nan was a disaster. It was soggy and had fallen apart. I know takeaway is never as good as sit in but I live close and got it straight out of the kitchen. I even took it out of the carrier bag in the car to try to keep it crispy but failed.

The food was amazing, very reasonable prices, staff lovely, would definitely go back 👍.

Every time we visit friends in Coatbridge this restaurant is a must. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Ate here Friday night and tried a mixed tandoori which was delicious and the lamb chops are amazing. I would highly recommend and we will be back very soon.

Been getting a chicken bhuna from Alis shettleston few times been tasteless, thought i would try here, 100% better Great Taste.. will be getting my food from, here on..

Very poor experience. Delivery not received 40 mins after should have arrived, contacted restaurant twice and given same reply, driver out with order. When order did arrive, very little chicken in portion, sauce tasted good but to much of it. Poor customer service

Went in for a wee change tonight so happy i did. The starters where lovely pakora fried to perfection the mains BEST LAMB BHUNA I HAVE EVER TASTED My wife for the chicken Tika masala which she loved. staff where amazing too very helpful and friendly. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

First time trying, arrived really quickly, food was piping hot and tasted delicious. Not one complaint about any of it. Would definitely recommend and we can’t wait to order again!

Food was delivered hot and fresh however was over 2 hours between order being placed and delivery. Will order again in future as food was lovely and good value (meal for 4) but will collect next time. Just eat app said that the food has been delivered but had not and was a further 60 mins

Was here for Christmas Dinner 25/12/23. Well where do I start on arrival it was very busy and unable to get seated as the staff were still setting tables it was extremely cold and the door was constantly being left open and a vast number of patrons outside in the rain! We were booked for 6pm and not seated until 6.20pm. Then our order was not taken until 6.35 and our starter not served until 7pm. Bearing in mind we were meant to be out for 8pm. Drinks were extortionate too. Main course not served till 7.45 and at this point patrons at the bottom of the restaurant were already finished and leaving!!! A distinct difference in service from the bottom to the top. Dessert was supposed to be hot fudge cake and was in fact chocolate cake with cheap ice cream. The main was meant to be lamb with port and was no trace of port at all!! The food was Meticore and the service chaotic. Won't be back ever it cost £120 wasn't worth anything near that 😡

Here for Christmas day lunch and it was absolutely amazing, the food and service is second to none and they always go above and beyond to serve every single customer and work so hard to achieve this. I will continue to eat here every time we are in coatbridge,there is no other restaurant comes close to food and service. Thank you to all the staff x

Order took 3 hours to arrived. Phoned 4 times within this period. Was lied to that the order was on its way and still took another hour when I live 10 minutes away. Shocking service.

This order was placed at 521. As of 723 it has not been delivered even though the restaurant said at 650 it would be with me within minutes. I have complained to Just Eat for a full refund.

Delivery was early but the food wasnt that great the sauce was watery and funny taste off the rice,not alot oc chicken either ,was my first time ordering from here and will be the last very disappointed

Ordered Chicken Reza'la and the meal was amazing... only downside was it didn't come with rice but had a naan bread with it, so not all bad.

First I've ordered from Shimla for years. Had a chicken tikka meal. Food quality was brilliant as was the portion size! Didn't have any dough in the house for a tip but the guy was alright about it - will definitely order again (and hopefully have a spare quid for the driver next time!).
