Shimla Balti & Tandoori in Walsall

Came here with my girlfriend on July 7 th and was totally surprised by the service by this amazing establishment. Food was served quickly and piping hot and was of the highest quality. Loved the special biriyani and the pineapple fritters. Many thanks and compliments to the chef and table staff for a memorable night out.

Placed a delivery on Saturday evening. Amazing food, we ordered chicken tikka starters with Tandoori special and chef special Cliff gosht and side orders of curry sauce and bombay potatoes. The food was served hot and had amazing taste to it, could not fault it. Compliments to the chef! We instructed the driver to leave the food on the porch and when he came he rang the doorbell and waited in his car to see if we received the food. Would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in Aldridge and the surrounding area and anyone passing by! 10/10

This is virtually on my doorstep. Cliff and the guys at Shimla will go out of their way to accommodate your requirements with food which is always very good. This has been under the same management for 20+ years, which says it all. I am pleased to see a strong local community supporting this restaurant. They are licensed however you can take your own drinks.

We was let down by another local restaurant after booking for 14 people for my sons birthday. I telephoned to see if the Shimla had availability for us, they asked what time i would like the table for, I explained the situation and that we needed the table straight away. Their response was fantastic and offered to set this up immediately for us. On arrival they were very welcoming and no soon as soon as we were seated they placed the papadum's on the table without any prompt "which were delicious"! We just wanted to say as a group thank you for making our evening very enjoyable and accommodating us at such short notice, All of the food was delicious and the service was great, we will all definitely be returning again and would strongly recommend visiting here as this was my first time also.

I came here as part of a large group on a Monday evening when we were the only ones there so had the undivided attention of the staff. We all went for the poppadums followed by a starter & main course all for a great price. The restaurant seemed to be licenced but they didn't mind us bringing our own alcohol. The food was cooked promptly and served to us in groups. Although all the food I had was tasty, I found it to be a bit oily and others looked to be the same. The onion bhajis and vegetable pakora were particularly oily which made them less crispy. My aubergine and pea curry was good with a lot of aubergine and lovely spices. We accompanied the dishes with a selection of rice dishes and different breads, all looked and tasted good. Definitely worth a visit, good food and friendly staff, although it is upstairs so could be an issue for those with mobility issues.

Truly enjoyable..food is fantastic,clean and pleasant surroundings.Oh watch out for the complimentary drink after eating!!

I cannot thank my old 'friends' at the Shimla enough for the many wonderful meals I have eaten there and the many excellent takeaways that I have enjoyed. Always warm, friendly and welcoming witha great choice of meals.

This restaurant was disappointing. It was very busy and the tables were squashed so much that one member of our party often got bumped as waiters went past. The portions were very small, I'm not a big eater and i finished everything. The food was bland and not very spicy at all. We ordered a bottle of house wine (£10) but they didn't have any so brought us a different one -no problem but when the bill came they charged us more. We complained and it was sorted but there was much discussion and lots of cross looks our way. My friend has just moved in near this place so would would have used it often but now we will go else where.

We go for a curry every Friday night, and are spoilt for choice in Aldridge, with roughly 10 different choices local to us. I must say the shimla tops the list both in terms of quality and value. As well as this, the staff are so friendly. This has definitely become our go-to curry of choice.

Would rate Shimla very highly. Staff attentive. Food cooked fresh to order and as you like it. Particularly recommend the chicken pakora. Food competitively priced.

Brilliant Always been the most consistent good restaurant in the local area for years and should have had many accolades before.

Have been using this restaurant for over 15 years. Food consistently high standard and service great ( can be little slow with large parties) weekday deal starter, main and side fantastic value for money. You may need to book whatever day you visit as it can get full very quickly.

This has to be the least authentic and most poorly prepared indian food we have eaten anywhere. We ordered aloo gobi, vegetable dopiaza and chana masala which were all completely bland. The aloo gobi consisted of boiled veg essentially coloured with turmeric. We has specifically requested that the dishes were made spicy to fit our taste but were quite the contrary. They have a very stereotypical british-indian menu where a list of all the generic sauces are listed and different meats for addition are available. The service was no better and there have been better toilets in India itself!! Definitely not a place to visit if you are looking for authentic indian food.

Went on a Saturday evening with friends as we had been there just before Christmas and had a good meal. On this occasion the service was slow and the meal was very poor. I ordered a Tawi meal Jalfrazi,there was hardly any chicken and it was not a Jalfrazi and it was sloppy my wife had a tandoori chicken, there was hardly any chicken. I should have complained but I did not want to embarrass the friends I had brought and the owner was not about, I did say to the waiter about the meal and he just said he would tell the chef and that it would be better next time. I could not eat my meal. This was definitely the worst curry I have had.

Very friendly staff made to feel very welcome rearranged booking number from 9 to 18 at very short notice food was great as ever. Food Freshly cooked and very reasonable price complementary drink at end of meal a nice touch.

A brilliant night again ,also they have a new menu . I especially liked the balachong chingri starter. There is also a new selection of main courses to choose from.

mi marido y yo siempre comer fuera, pero nos apetecía una noche y hay última noche así que pensamos que le daría la Shimla. Muy contentos con los resultados. La comida estaba bien caliente y deliciosos, mucho mejor que la mayoría de las comidas que hemos tenido en restaurantes indios. El precio también es genial. Eso es nuestro los viernes por la noche se arregló, ¡gracias! :)

He estado apoyando Shinla pimientos por más de 10 años pero he tenido suficiente.

Me encanta comer en Shimla con la familia y amigos. No vamos tan a menudo como nos utilizado para simplemente porque ahora hay muchas otras opciones locales indias del restaurante. Siempre sabrosa, siempre amable y acogedor. La entrega no es siempre tan genial como comer en comida.

We have been going to Shimla's every couple of months for the last 3 years. Always good food, good service and excellent value. You can take your own alcohol or as we do have a cobra or two

Have eaten here for the past twenty years and have rarely had a bad meal. Always spotlessly clean, good service and good value for money. The fact that you can take your own alcohol also keeps the cost down. Only negative I have is the use of tinned sliced mushrooms that can be a bit rubbery, otherwise food is first class. No hesitation in recommending giving it a go. Also note that this Shimla is listed twice on Tripadvisor, see also Shimla Tandoori. Not to be confused with Shimla Peppers which is not in the same league.

We went to this place on the recommendation of a local guy we meet at a spar where we were staying.All we wanted, was a local Indian, in the Aldridge area which was nice and good value. He explained that from the outside it didn't look much as it was over the top of a chip ship.The inside was clean and welcoming. The music was mix between Indian and English which was nice. The food was of good quality and for once, didn't all look the same. We had the set meal of £10.00 each plus a couple of extras and we were very full.If your looking for nice food at a great price, give this place a try.
