I used to love to go to this restaurant whenever I stayed at the hotel. So it was my normal place to go for a quick dinner as soon as I arrived. The atmosphere has changed the food did not have great taste The quality was simply not there.

Restaurant was very quiet with only two other tables occupied. More Deliveroo delivery drivers came whilst I was in the restaurant then customers seated. Food wasn't great, the service was abrupt, everything about the place screamed avoid. We left most of the food but neither server asked if anything was wrong. Bill was wrong as well and we felt that by being there we were a hindrance. We actually went out for something else to eat after the meal as we were so disappointed by the meal and the quality of the food. The cost is also astronomical and isn't anywhere near worth the money. Between the two of us we had three starters, one main dish and rice and two drinks, cost was over £50 per head and we felt totally ripped off. Really terrible experience which I wouldn't want anyone to repeat. Total lack of interest from staff who probably know that they are ripping of guests and there is no incentive as most people wouldn't be repeat customers.

Booked online for 9:30 for my wife’s birthday. When we turned up they told us that they closed at 10pm so there was no point even ordering. It spoilt our night. Obviously I can’t comment on the food but just beware if you want to eat late.

55 Curzon StreetHighly disappointed with our evening. It is a cold evening and therefore we were wearing big coats and we had to ask staff if there was a cloakroom. Not a great start already! Following this, the food was brought out so quickly and therefore not allowing us to enjoy each dish. In addition, after rushing our starters, mains and dessert, we were told we had to quickly give up the table for the next guests who weren't anywhere to be seen. They couldn't be quick enough to send us on our way! Given the price, you would think service would be on point but it was an utter disappointment. This was a dinner to celebrate a birthday and they did not make it special at all. Shall not be recommending nor shall I ever be going back.

11 Maddox StreetUPDATE: We became regulars here until 2020 and were very sad indeed to dscover that it has closed its doors. A real loss to anyone who enjoys first quality Japanese food! This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in London but it is so authentic that you need a guide. The sushi is good, the usual menu items are very good but if you really want to eat well you need to choose from the blackboard with the day's dishes chalked up in Japanese. Marinated squid guts and tuna cheek are delicious and so genuine: you could be in a very good local restaurant in Japan. These kind of dishes are not found in most London Japanese restaurants and this is why Sakana Tei is special. Grab a Japanese or literate Chinese friend and treat them in return for choosing the delicious surprises you would normally miss!
