Sunday lunch. I'll set the scene. It's Easter Sunday, you've been for a walk along the beach while you're away on your holidays with your 2 dogs and you see a lovely pub serving "fresh" Sunday lunch AND it's dog friendly. I felt like Jesus himself was shining down on me. I ordered the lamb.. can this day get any better. It arrived. First thing I clocked eyes on was the huge mound of "smash" the packet mash for anyone who's never eaten tea on a council estate. On the plus side there were 2 "home made' looking Yorkie puds, I shimmied them to the side to see what delights await me under neath. Half a plate of frozen cabbage and the other half frozen peas and carrots. The lamb was gristle, the dinner was luke warm if I'm being generous. I did see other people that had roast spuds and stuffing, I think they either ran out when they got me to or simply forgot. I wouldn't waste your money, go elsewhere and have some real home cooked food.

I am saddened to write this, but after passing The New Inn many times on our drive to and from Mablethrope, we’ve always said we should stop for some food at The New Inn (Shelly’s Kitchen), but after our meal today, we wish we had just kept on driving. From the outside The New Inn looks beautiful. When we went in to order it was made clear to us that ‘the food has nothing to do with the pub’, having eaten, I can see why! We ordered 4 Sunday roasts and all had the beef. Firstly, the bickering between the staff at the point of ordering food, in front of a long queue of people, was inappropriate and soured the mood. Secondly, being handed filthy cutlery at the outset did not bode well. The cutlery was quickly handed back and it took some time to exchange. Thirdly and most importantly, the four meals we ordered were very poor; to explain:- - Everything had been clearly frozen and then microwaved - The roast potatoes were inedible - what is that flavour on them? They were cold and tasted ‘old’ - The gravy had literally no taste - The mashed potato was 100% packet mashed potato - it was also very cold - The cabbage was watery and tasted of water, it had zero flavour - The Carrots were solid and undercooked as well as tasteless - The Yorkshire Puddings were clearly frozen - The beef was tough and fatty The only thing that had any taste was the horseradish sauce. It really is a shame to have to write this but we left near enough all of the food. We could not face wasting Monday on any pudding, a pudding which we had all planned to order initially. The meals were inedible as described above. It is all just such a shame and again, it is sad to have to write this but it’s an honest opinion and standards surely need to be better than this. We feel throughly ripped off but for just under £10 per meal there was no point in asking for a refund. Sadly, we will not be back and could not recommend the food.

Great meal for the family, kids had adults burger and chips, good vegetarian options for me. Only down side was only one meal was gluten free. Very pleasant and chatty staff. Will return.

Food very very good staff really helpful recommend this to friends and family and to anybody who comes this way I would never forget coming here

Rather disappointed with the mixed grill .came out as black as a coal man. And as dry as the Sahara desert .but they did offer to change it .although it should never have been sent out like the .gold star if you can spot the pineapple

Just had a lovely meal at Shelley’s kitchen at new inn Saltfleet. Really great food, lovely friendly staff, great service, great home cooked food, will definitely make this a weekly event. Definitely recommend to everyone and anyone

We dined here twice in the 4day stay with mum n dad and brother in law....The drinks were ordered ''after'' we placed our order with Gary...who is an amazing friendly front of house...Drinks were lovely and refreshing whilst we waited for our FRESHLY COOKED meals... which we did NOT have to wait long for......our choices were AMAZING...Mixed grill quality of meats ..portion sizes and flavours were WOOOOW...!! The lasagne was a huge dished portion with salad garlic bread..Curry with a side of chips..struggled to finish the chips as portion ..again was ample to fill you up....Whole tail scampi dish mum n dad loved...breaded garlic mushrooms,,,well extra portions were ordered by the men...onion rings...real not frozen...I know i am going on...but we had such a fabulous few meals there,,,,I did have to rave about them and Shelly and Gary..a nicer couple you could not wish to meet...very hard working and so friendly...plus excellent cooks... PLUS...Gary got a Battenberg cheese cake freshly made...we all had some....IT WAS TREMENDOUS !!!! Your prices and service the same....We own a holiday home in Sunnydale and you will be our home from home choice of restaurant when we come up next week....we will bring our fur babies with us next time...Thank you Gary & Shelly...See you both soon,, Regards Sandra & Duncan

We arrived for food and drinks without booking, the place is lovely and clean, we are a family of 14, so not always easy or straightforward.. the experience was really pleasant..friendly staff, nothing was to much trouble, food came out quickly, all fresh and presented beautifully .. thank you Shelley’s kitchen.. highly recommend

We visited Shelly's Kitchen at the New Inn a couple of times this week while having a family getaway at the Sunnydale Holiday Park. Wow..... all we can say is the value for money and quality of the food is best we have experienced for some time. Looks like some of the prices have gone up recenty, but assume this is due to widespread price increases across the UK, but is still extremely good value for money. Guess recent poor reviews are one-off's by individuals who are incredibly difficult to please, as this was definitely not our experience. Keep up the great work Shelly and Gary - although we only met Gary as 'front of house' on these 2 occasions, we knew Shelly was slaving away in the kitchen. Well done both of you!!!! Battenberg cheesecake....... sensational. Will most certainly be back when we are in the area again. Thank you.

1hr 30 mi for 2 burgers and chips avoid at all cost would not tell anyone to to go to this place was told food would be 30 min

we discovered this place while staying at Sunnydale caravan park. we refused to pay the prices there so went to explore the local area. found this gem. the nice food menu in The New Inn bar. you have to pay for your food separate from your drink. but the food was nice we had a chicken burger, hunters chicken and a mixed grill clean plates by all. nice portion sizes and well cooked. nice atmosphere. friendly staff. we ate here 3 times. all the same good quality thank you.

We have just bought a caravan in saltfleet so decided to check out all the local places to eat and drink... we've had 2 experiences here the first wasn't great we ordered a drink at the pub then asked for someone to serve us food, the pub radioed it through then we sat in the beer garden and waited after drinking our first round someone arrived to take our order... (25-30mins) We then waited 45mins for our food to arrive, weirdly even though I ordered same as my son it came 10 minutes after his and my wife's... the only positive was that it tasted better than it looked.... We decided to give it another crack when family came to stay again we ordered drinks told the bar lady we wanted food watched her radio it through and sat and sat and sat eventually we gave up and went home... thats 6 meals they lost out on that night plus the chance of weekly repeated business....

Had a couple of take from here while staying a Sunnydale caravan park we had great food & polite service.

During the summer of last year this place remained busy during the time it was allowed to open. At the time service was slow but somebody did eventually arrive to take your order. Went today and the pub and gardens were less busy with lots of empty tables and only one having food. We were sat in the back walled garden and requested a menu, we then waited 30 minutes for someone to come out to get our order but sadly no one appeared and we left without eating. Reading recent reviews this seems to be a constant theme here which is a shame as the business will surely suffer. We have encountered poor service here before but everyone deserves a second chance - don’t they? No third chances from us and we will never return. Sort the service out or Shelley’s Kitchen will be no more.

Visited here hoping to get some food. After being sat at our table for an hour no one had come to take our food order despite asking multiple staff members. The pub wasn’t at full capacity and other tables ended up leaving before their food arrived as they had been waiting so long. After an hour we left and ate somewhere else. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
