Sheldon Hall in Birmingham

We chose Sheldon Hall as the venue to hold my mother’s wake. Excellent service was received in advance of the day when planning / choosing food etc. On the day the service was equally excellent, the food was plentiful and it tasted delicious. Thank you to the staff for making a difficult day that bit easier.

Went here today 3 adults 4 children and two babies. We all loved the food, drinks and the chocolate fudge cake was huge! Andrea served us and was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and she was really helpful too. Considering there were so many of us there was no food missed off. She was so lovely with the children too. All in all we really enjoyed the visit with not one complaint. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

Went for breakfast, was greeted by a lovely & bubbly lady called Marty. She made us feel at home, she is so welcoming! Breakfast was lovely too!

Ordered carvery, went up meat was dry, no stuffing and mash there, staff had to be asked for more When the Stuffing came out was under cooked. Table and seats were dirty. Got our money back and went elsewhere. Won't ever be coming back even though live within walking distance.

So slow. 1 hour for 1 pizza. Jesus christ and it was quiet . Asked staff to see where it is. They never came back . Dont think ill come back

Was a birthday party for my elderly mother in law. Most people had a carvery and had inedible roasties that were impossible to cut as they had been cooked to death. I ordered fish and chips, smh, what arrived was a watery fish, bland unseasoned cold mushy peas and burnt chips. I left the whole dish. If you cannot manage a dish as simple as fish and chips then give it up. I rated 3 stars purely for the staff and certainly not the food.

Waited an hour and 10 mins for 2 burgers. First the order was missing (could see that from the facial expression) then it still took half an hour. Burgers were hot but the chips were cold. You pay when you order otherwise we would have gone after half an hour…..turns out if you’re polite you get ignored so you best be loud and rude if you want food here

Me and my family went to Sheldon Hall and had drinks but there was a limit selection on drinks which I thought was quite poor for the summer but the food was good and service was fast.

I don’t usually write reviews but Paul and the team (Tia, Marty, and the rest of the staff) went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful visit as a family. Breakfast food was excellent and the staff were all amazing. Thank you-we will see you again soon.

Absolutely amazing service from ‘EMMA’ who, though completely rushed off her feet and on her own during service, remained attentive, smiley and went above and beyond! Had a lovely meal here at the Sheldon hall, paul and his team were so friendly and welcoming. We had to wait a little while for some meat to cook but the wait was so worth it, can honestly say we will be back again as like I say the team were super happy and chatty and you really can’t fault them. Tom & his staff are amazing, lovely place to come and dine. Old building with a brilliant vibe on weekends 👌 bar staff are friendly with cocktails that are refreshing goes down a treat with a carvery or burger/fresh pizza from scratch made by the chef

Just been to sheldon hall me and husband had the carvery not very nice roast potatoes look they had been there all day pigs in blanket were over cooked beef very chewie sons had burger what was burnt don't think I will be going back went because granddaughter got me a voucher for Christmas so thought I'd use it tonight

Food was poor for the money, carvery was ok but other food was not up to standard. I had beef and horseradish sandwich with chips, beef was burnt, bread was hard and came with mustard not horseradish. Definitely not worth the money.

Came here for a Groupon meal deal in a party of 5 friends, we normally use stonehouse carveries and have always enjoyed them. We thought we would give Sheldon Hall a try after not visiting for such a long time.. When our friends arrived we went to the bar to place our orders and show the coupon.. my friends were told that there wasn't any carvery or that it was finishing, so they were under the impression not to order so placed orders for other items. I went after and asked the servers if they did have more carvery and they said yes..they said it was on but they weren't replacing the meat till it had all finished. I love my carvery so decided to just order that, oh my life the meat was dry and old like leather! The vegetables were barely warm and the stuffing was like a brick! No mustard and the condiments looked like slop and the gravy in a massive container that didn't look appealing at all and was very lumpy.. I'm not a complainer but it was below normal standard.. The whole place had a very dirty feel, riff raff eating with there kids on tables next to us and running into disabled toilets messing around pulling the alarm, Chairs were dirty etc... My friends pizza arrived only to have toppings missing.. she wasn't happy. My friends burger arrived with stale mouldy lettuce! So she couldnt eat that! Not appetizing at all but because service was so slow to come and staff not checking if we were ok with our meals, and them not the friendliest to be honest we just ate what we could and left. We would definitely not return to this restaurant again! When there are better stonehouses...

We went for Sunday lunch the food and service was amazing. We will defo be going back again. The roast potatoes were the best we have had at carvery and the veg was cooked lovely.

Such a lovely building, went here with family for a carvery the staff are very friendly and welcoming especially kyle, the meat was so tasty and cooked well, there was a variety of veg, roast potatoes, stuffing, mash all was freshly cooked and the cauliflower cheese was amazing thank you chefs, we all enjoyed our meal and would definitely come here again

Certain bar staff are rude, glasses are really bad so beer if flat and ban kids at 9 even though so bar staff are under 18

I came for dinner with a couple of my friends on Tuesday 16th January and I was served by a waitress grace A. She was wonderful,made the experience a whole lot better will be definitely coming again very soon And hope she is my waitress again

I regularly order from this restaurant and just wanted to highlight the great customer service both JD & Lewis provided. Both chefs were pleasant and helpful! A great pride for this pub, plus food was excellent!

Fay the manager was very friendly we had a table booked for 16 of us and she helped us with the dinners and what to have . Emma was really good always asking everyone how everything was. The carvery was the best I have ever had there the cheese and potato mash was really nice and the roast potatoes.

I arrived at 6.30pm there was no meat left for carvery. I ordered a beef burger for my self and a child I got the same size cold portion of chips as the child. Also ordered was macaroni cheese which was very watery and to me looked like packet cheese you at water to. One waitress was ignoring the service bell and preferred to have chats with bar staff. I also witness a child serve food to a table accompanied by a waitress. I wouldn't recommend and was very shocked how standards has slipped. There were also children running around playing hide and seek all over the restaurant.

I booked a christmas dinner collection (25th Dec) The quality and presentation was absolutely disgusting. It was all put together and put in a round plastic container totally squashed in and mixed together. No turkey just afew shavings. I have photos to show upon request and for further proof when I decide what action I am going to take.The whole presentation looked like a dogs dinner.crammed in a smallish round plastic bowl. This I paid £49. 99 reciept number 92/9659. This was ordered and paid for in october so plenty of time for the restaurant to have ordered suitable take away containers that would show separate compartments for the various items of the meal. As I have previously mentioned it was total disaster that obviously ruined my christmas dinner. I would expect a suitable reply before I decide what further action to take. We booked a last minute Christmas dinner here, the food was delicious and our waitress Andrea was fantastic, she never stopped the whole time we were there ensuring all guests in the area we were in were happy and had everything they needed.

A massive thank you to Paul the manager, after calling around a few places Paul was the only person willing to help and with such enthusiasm too. I was hoping for some carvery tickets to feed families at my school who unfortunately were in for a pretty rough Christmas, not only was he more than willing to assist he was going to throw in some freebies for the less fortunate. Some of these families would go without a hot meal over the Christmas break and Paul was helping me to change this. Paul I can’t thank you enough. I called the Sheldon hall as I have visited myself and loved the food, staff and service. I only wish there were more kind people in this world that are happy to help those less fortunate that ourselves. Not only did you offer such a lovely gift, you offered your own time outside of your working hours to make this happen at such short notice. Thank you again Paul.
