Ordenado en la mesa. Pastel con patatas. Después de 30 minutos tuve que averiguar dónde había ido la comida. Cuando apareció unos minutos más tarde me dieron un pastel de carne de res y cerveza que había sido microondas. La pastelería estaba empapada y cuando la abrí tenía un trozo de carne y mucha salsa. No hay cuchillos en el cajón de cubiertos. Un bote de sal entre un gran número de mesas. Muy pobre y no volveremos a visitar

Impresionante ubicación y lo mejor hasta ahora en Birmingham para una bebida o cena. La vista del canal desde aquí es hermosa y definitivamente será increíble en verano. Es un pub Green King. Elección de cervezas locales, así como otras cervecerías del Reino Unido. El personal era amable. El servicio era bueno. Opciones vegetales en la cena. Ambiente muy agradable y fresco. No me di cuenta de que tenían balcón hasta que yo estaba fuera. La próxima vez estaré allí para la mejor vista.

Visited The Malt House before seeing Snow White and the 7 dwarfs. I emailed the pub prior to the visit to ask if they could add a little something to the table for my friends daughter who had her first leading role as The Evil Queen. When I arrived I simply could not believe my eyes. Reena had decorated the table especially for the occasion and really had gone above and beyond anything I could have EVER imagined! It was such an enchanted table and I really was lost for words! I was very choked up to see the efforts she had gone to. We ordered our meals and all the food was served on time and was very tasty and plentiful. I would like to say a huge thank you to The Malt House and of course the biggest thanks to the beautiful Reena for all of her wonderful hard work and efforts. We had a wonderful few hours and will certainly be visiting again very soon. Bonus points for the large selection of zero alcohol available and the fact the Estrella zero was also on draught!

Good food, good beer, nice pub!

Had an amazing time at the Malt House! The team were fantastic—welcoming, attentive, and on the ball. It had a great atmostphere, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the fish and chips and katsu chicken burger, both were great value and very tasty. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return in warmer weather to enjoy the views from the terrace.

My friend had her birthday party here and we had the best time. Thanks for making so lovely.

The place is very nice and the food is good specially the fish and chips. The only "bad" thing was a blonde waitress that didn't smile or tried to be nice. The other ones were very nice specially the one that took our order in the bar. I totally recommend the place.

We have visited the wonderful Malt House many times and always had the best time. The food is delicious; the service is outstanding and the setting is perfect. John served us last night and he is a consummate professional and made our visit extra special. We look forward to our next visit and would recommend to all.

Ruby, Reena, and Charlie are essential to this pub's success; I would not frequent it without them.

Great pub near to the Utilita Arena for a quick pint before and after watching a show.

Booked a table prior to an event at the Utilita Arena. Had never been before - lovely pub, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food really nice would highly recommend the steak and ale pie!

Even though we went just as they were about to close, they provided quick service. In my opinion, it is one of the most enjoyable places by the canal in terms of atmosphere.

There were 13 of us all pretty hungry and thirsty on a busy Saturday just gone but without booking , the staff looked after us perfectly ! Lovely food, drinks and service and a great location all round !

Never been to Birmingham before. We came for the seaside centre and Cadbury world. After visiting the sea life centre we thought we’d give this place a go. And glad we did. Although we didn’t eat any food we very much enjoyed the vibe and drinks. My boy is autistic who can sometimes be funny in pubs. But we found a quiet corner and he was fine. It’s such a lively building with a lively setting just on the canal. Service was good and my rocking Rudolph was well kept. If I’m ever back I would revisit.

Can not order food if you do not know the table number, though there were few tables😮‍💨As the waitress was busy at talking with others

A great Sunday roast experience. Simple and classic menu. Great value for money. Small wait time on food, however it is worth it for the fresh and delicious food.

Went in today for lunch was greeted by a rude bar lady telling us we have to find our own table then we went looking for a table only to have a server tell me we are in her way, took my money elsewhere.

The Malt House is a beautiful setting with the canal & shops. The food was delicious and the service excellent.

Love coming here. Such a great location and the staff are fantastic. Always remember my order and they are super friendly. One of my favourite spots in Birmingham

Famoso locale in centro città tra i canali. Tradizionale nel suo insieme, pulito, accogliente, bene organizzato tra i tavoli. Personale giovane, qualche cameriera poco professionale, nel complesso ordini e ti portano al tavolo. Miglior fish & chips finora assaggiato nel Regno Unito. Pensavamo un listino birre più ampio nella scelta dei gusti. Non economico.

Stopped in before going to a gig at utilita arena. Super convenient location, fast food for how busy it was. Also loved the gig specific playlist. Best pub I've been in for a while!

Meh, nobody there, fireplace on the TV, but the real one is not lit even though it's 3c outside. Waited 15 minuted to order and left. There's something going on here and I'm not sure that I'll be having anything to do with it.

good place to stop for a decent pint. Didn't eat here. The beer choice was okay. If you are walking around the area on a few pub visits, worth dropping in.

Came for a drink or two and a bite to eat. Relatively quiet when we arrived, it got busier as the afternoon wore on. Many of the tables had reservations for later in the afternoon or early evening as there was an event on at the Utilita. This also meant that they were not serving starters and mains separately so, on finding this out, we decided to just have a main meal and top up later in the evening if needed. We both ordered the fish and chips and the meals were exactly as you would expect. Decent portion of chips, right amount of tartare sauce, crispy batter and flaky fish inside. Time from ordering to receiving was perfectly acceptable and there was no queueing when we went to order drinks. I can easily imagine that this state of affairs would not be the same as the place gets busier, especially on events nights. The Malt House is almost literally next door to the Area and it is a lovely looking place for a drink and bite to eat - it must get properly rammed before the events start and, possibly, after they finish. This place is right on the canal side and has outdoor seating to the front and side (overlooking the canal). I bet it's nice in the Summer.

It was nice, with nice service and a nice atmosphere. We did not anticipate that as Disney on Ice show was going to start next to the pub, so the Disney playlist was a surprise that was not loved by everyone, but I can imagine that that was just bad luck. The food was okay, but could have been better (Sunday Roast).

We tried to get food on a Friday night when Peter Kay was on at Utilita and it was chaos. Very few tables, big lines at the bar. We almost bailed, but managed to get lucky. Food came out quickly which was a blessing. The pie seemed a bit overcooked to me with more pastry than filling. Overall a stressful experience, but somewhat unusual circumstances.

A little unkept and lost its old pub feel. Cleaning of the windows on the balcony floor would be a great improvement, hopefully a useful observation 👍

Nice place by the canal with a good beer selection

Enjoyed a Tasty Lunch and Delicious Glass of Wine with Friends. Lee was very helpful with Local Advice and made us feel very welcome. If I lived near by it would be my Favourite Pub !

My family and I have traveled from Bristol to Birmingham a few times recently, and this pub has become our go-to spot. It’s perfectly located right across from the Utilita Arena, making it ideal for a pre- or post-show visit. The staff is welcoming, the food and drinks are excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is lively and adds to the experience! Highly recommended!

Genuinely wouldn't bother with this place. Visited on a Sunday for some lunch before a show, extremely understaffed for the amount of people who came in. We were one of the first few people to order food around 12pm. During the 40 minute wait for our food, twice we were brought over another tables food. When our food eventually came the child's meal was completely wrong, they took it away and we expected them to come right back having picked up the wrong order or at least come back to acknowledge the error, but they didnt return. Over 10 minutes later our child still had no food. I went to find a staff member to find out where the other meal was who told me to look around and see how busy they were. I explained we'd ordered an hour ago, he walked off and left me standing there. Another 5 minutes later I eventually got given a plate at the kitchen doors. No apology, no accountability. By the time I got to eat my own meal it was cold. Avoid this place if youre thinking you're after a convenient nice pub meal, it's far from that!

I love this place! A good Irish pub atmosphere, TV screen and sports with a mix of Disney Park on the terrace with music from the 60s and 70s. The old mout fruit cider berries and cherries is killer.

Después de un largo viaje, tenía muchas ganas de una buena comida familiar, con un nombre en el que puedo confiar y ahí es donde todo salió mal... Normalmente soy bastante aventurero con mi comida, pero solo quería una buena hamburguesa simple. Pedido 2 hamburguesas diferentes y pescado con papas fritas y comida para niños... . . Todo frío y no me refiero solo a un poco cálido, realmente me refiero al frío. . Aparentemente el pescado se calentaba cuanto más comía mi pareja, pero el mío tenía que volver, por el otro lado, al menos no tenía que esperar a que mi pequeño se comiera el suyo 👍🏻 ¿Volvería, diablos Noooo...

Qué gran lugar para el almuerzo del domingo. El Pollo Asado fue excelente. Muy sabroso, conseguido y con un buen tamaño de porción. Estaba ocupado, pero encontramos una mesa afuera al sol, con vistas al canal. Gran servicio, rápido y eficiente. El único inconveniente de sentarse fuera era que todas las mesas estaban diseñadas para fumadores.

The Sunday Roast of Chicken was excellent. Hot and extremely tasty. Good sized portions. Service was prompt and friendly. Negatives were sitting outside with no area for Non-smoking. Has to ensure smokers on the next table. The sun was out so we were happy to sit outside. No Tomato juice available at the bar - not even on the drinks menu.

Slightly disappointed, to be honest. I stood at the bar for some time before someone told me that it was a queuing bar. Maybe I should have spotted the queue, but it's not like I was invisible. One of the bartenders could have told me instead of letting me just stand there. Food was standard fare, nothing amazing. Beer was well kept. Didn't stay long after we finished our food.

My wife and spent a few hours here waiting for our daughter to finish watching a concert at the NIA. It was a friendly atmosphere, with good food and drinks. Recommended!

For the price it's a very nice place to have a pint. Right in the canal with a classic pub feel.

Visitamos el pub esta semana y se convirtió en la tercera experiencia pobre en los últimos 12 meses, por lo que hemos dicho que no volveremos. Parece la norma esperar un tiempo excepcionalmente largo en el bar y se siente como una prueba para ser servido. El pub nunca parece tener suficiente personal. Tampoco parecen tener personal de acuerdo a los eventos en la CPI que trae costumbre extra al pub, hemos tenido experiencia personal de esto y la gente que conocemos ha dicho lo mismo. Esta semana nuestras bebidas estaban mal hechas y un extremo de la barra parecía desproporcionadamente lleno de vasos vacíos y sucios que realmente necesitaban limpieza, fue la misma última vez. Esta semana, cuando visitamos, la planta alta del pub estaba cerrada y necesitaba abrir ya que no había suficientes asientos abajo. Es una pena ya que podría ser genial y los problemas resueltos pero parece caótico.

Came here for friends 25th birthday for food the service was slow over 1hour waiting for food and try to get drinks waiting for 15mins as the bar staff just ignore you and just walk off to kitchen. NOT recommended if your here to vist the Arena you will be waiting along time for food & drinks.

I have known of this pub for many years but only in the past week or so decided to venture into it for a visit. A wonderful building, very well kept, clean, tidy, and well laid out. The defining feature is, however, the staff who are all patient, polite, welcoming, friendly and adaptive to a standard that is a cut above.

Very good pub with a beautiful bar. The food was good and the prices were right. The location is perfect when the weather is nice. A visit is worth it.

Great experience albeit for slow service

Told wait for food would be half an hour, an hour later still not had food. Asked server how long it would be, was told another half an hour maybe more, server not apologetic at all. Eventually got food, was cold. Don't bother eating here.

A huge thank you to Malt house barn for their amazing space. We had our wedding there, and we couldn't ask for anything more. Janet went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with everything. She was always available to talk and reply to any questions. They've recently added on another section, and I can just imagine how beautiful it will be. Thank you so much, Janet, for everything.

Very busy on show days and the drink prices are a little steep but understandable.

No one cleaned the table and food was brought to a table with some ketchup and other rubbish on it. After the fish&chips we all got food poisoning the same evening. Not recommended for a dine out night

Really nice pub on the canal. Has plenty of TV's to watch the football on and outdoor seating area upstairs and down. Prices are quite expensive but it's near town.

I often think to myself whether they would ever open a pub better than this one in Birmingham. It’s everything the local area needs: ambiance, vibes, service and views. A good pre concert venue as well as a nice place to begin a crawl from your dreams. I like pubs, I like people, malt house.

Food was cold and Childs food disgusting. Inedible pasta.. sent pasta back and pasta even worse when it returned. Just go for a drink nothing more.

It was ok. Staff not the most cheerful/friendly. I asked for a cup of tea after our meal and it was cold.. told twice it was ok, it was tepid at most...eventually got a warm cup of tea. Such a shame as this place is close to the arena.

Went here for lunch after we got married. Paul Rena served us they were polite and professional. The food we ordered was fantastic and even cheap beer on offer I couldn't turn that down . The location is stunning highly recommended

Nice pub near the canals in birmingham

We visited on a Saturday afternoon in May. It was pretty busy as was the whole of birmingham to be fair. The bar was packed with people queueing. We managed to find a queue to wait in to get to the bar, but after about 20 minutes and only moving up 1 space we gave up, and left as did other customers. The staff on the bar seemed to be going particularly slow getting drinks and just walking off leaving people waiting. Shame. Place looks nice but didn't get to have a positive experience on our visit.

Definitely my favourite pub in the area! Lovely decor, plenty of space, decent prices, nice staff and very nice views overlooking the canal has seating inside and outside upstairs and down, can easily spend the day here and has everything within walking distance it can get very busy if somthings/someones on over the road at the utilita arena but still worth it, overall I highly recommend having a drink here. 😊

Me and my partner came in for a couple of drinks and a small bite to eat before heading off to a concert. We had no complaints with the atmosphere being good, drink crisp and food fresh and tasty. Would recommend for a drink and some pub food.

Ordered the flat iron steak. I thought it was quite expensive at £17 odd but fancied giving it a try. We were very surprised when it came out. It was the smallest meal I think I've ever had in my life. Almost like they had cut the meal in half. Where on earth was the rest of the steak? I thought they had mistakenly given me a kids meal but apparently not! Utter rip off for that price as well. Shame really as the staff were quite friendly, although nobody came to ask how the food was. Do not order the steak. Utterly baffling.

Stunningly beautiful place, great service and a great pint

Disappointing to say the least. We've eaten here before, and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, this time was a "never again". Firstly, the menu is very limited, uninteresting and expensive for what it is. Young lady behind the bar who served us was disinterested. We decided on the BBQ chicken, but they only had 1 left! So I had the flat iron steak, which I ordered pink. Also asked for the tomatoes on both meals to be swapped for peas. When meals came out, to be fair, they were both hot, as they should be. However, only one had peas, the other still had the tomatoes. The chicken was overcooked and dry, the steak was much nearer well done than pink. No-one bothered to come and check our food was OK. We did look at desserts. But with a very uninspiring choice of 3 relatively expensive options, after the disappointment of the main course we decided not to bother. Probably explains why the place was so deserted compared to other similar establishments in the area.

New management??? We’ve been here for the past 3 years after our annual trip to the sea life centre. We’ve been back because it’s usually good food… when ordering the ironed steak (£18) for my lad we were asked if we wanted it pink or well done, we asked for pink, it was that well done that it was dry and chewy, the bacon cheese burger (£16) was also that overcooked that it was dry and snapped when eating it, the mac and cheese (£14) that my daughter ordered was incredibly bland and had the consistency of rice pudding, the pasta just dissolved as it hit her mouth. My Mrs ordered chips…. They were alright. As we were leaving an elderly couple asked how are food was having left most of their fish and chips because it wasn’t nice, All the dishes were that bad that we won’t be returning next year! The location is spot on! Prime location for hot days by the canal however the outdoor furniture needs replacing. Every table rocks and has layers of sticky stuff on. In the last year it’s dropped so much in standards.

Lovely place didn't eat as very busy and many tables reserved for wedding(who can blame them gorgeous place) but friendly atmosphere, great staff and beautiful views. I'd love to go back midweek less busy but definitely worth a visit.

Lovely location on the Canal. Large seated area inside and a reasonably sized terrace. It's a Green King pub so has the standard selection of beers. Outdoor seating could benefit with a little TLC.

Love this pub but I can't understand why they didn't have extra staff on when there was a running event on..

This was my flat Iron steak £17.99 came out cold with cold chips you don't really get a lot .. I ordered chicken wings to come out at the same time.. Chicken wing where good and hot.. I'm presuming they waited for the chicken wings to be done and left the steak underneath a heating lamp.. all staff were polite but no one came round to check if our food was okay

Maybe the worst ‘steak sandwich’ ever. £9.45 for two dry slices of white bread with 5 slivers of roast beef covering nearly half. A wilted few leaves of salad to complete the dire presentation. Even the waitress was embarrassed. She asked if she could change it but I could not face another one! Beer was OK. Good spot on the canal. Shame.

Very good experience here, lovely range of ales and lager available. Great location for a lovely drink in the sun too.
